I am trying to configure my B109n for wireless printing but the setup utility keeps crashing. Printer is USB connected but I want to move it to another part of the room. I am runnin OSX 10.9.2.

Welcome to the HP forums!!
I see from your post that you have a Photosmart B109n that you need to connect wirelessly to your Mac that is running 10.9. I will absolutely do my best to assist you with this!
I believe the reason the software is failing is because it's not intended to be used with the 10.9 operating system. At this time HP does not have full feature software released, you would have to install it via the Apple Updates. Which leads to the next issue, how to connect the printer to your wireless network. To do this, we will have to connect the Mac to the printer to get things setup properly
Please follow this post I did, that has worked for others, to get the printer connected to your wireless network. To restore the network defaults on your printer, please press the Setup option, then Network, then Restore network defaults, followed by Yes. Then to print off the Network Configuration page on your printer please follow the steps below:
On the control panel, touch the button ( ) next to Scan . The Wireless/Scan menu displays.
Touch the button next to Wireless Menu .
Touch the button next to Wireless Settings .
Touch the button next to Print Network Configuration Page .
Touch OK . The Network Configuration Page prints.

New router - how to change wifi settings for Photosmart B109n

I got a new router. How do I change the wifi settings for my Photosmart B109n? I changed the PC wifi settings (no problem). I connected the PC (Windows 7) to the printer by USB cable. In the HP Solutions Centre, when I click on Settings / Network Settings, it tries to open a browser (IE9) page, with the URL being the IP address (192.168.2.3), but it goes to the "cannot display" page. Do I need the HP software CD? (I think I've lost it.) The manual explains how to set up (using the CD), but I can't find how to change settings for a new router.

Mac 10.5.8 VS Photosmart B109n-z: connection problem

Hi,
i've got a problem with my brand new Photosmart B109n-z.
Two days ago I've installed the software and connected my Mac 10.5 to the printer. I've successfully spent few minutes printing docs wirelessly. Then i turned off Mac & printer and went to bed. The day after, Mac was unable to see the printer. Followed the "emergency instruction" (switch off the router, mac, printer, restart all > that didn't solved the problem). So I uninstalled, then installed and connected again. At this point, Mac was able to see the printer again. New documents were printed successfully. But then, after having turned off the Mac again, here is the same problem of the day before.
I get no error messages, the docs I want to print simply stay in the queue, virtually endlessly.
The printer's connection report states that printer is connected to the wireless. Mac is connected too. But they don't see each other unless i uninstall the printer and then i install it again. And if i turn off the computer, when i turn it on again i experience the same problem. Any hint?
I apologize for my english (i'm from Italy).

Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
- Unplug the telephone line from the router
- Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
- Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the router.
- Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
- On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know, use a high number like 1.229.72.200
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank
- Finally, plug in the phone line, reboot the router and test.

HP Photosmart B109n-z (printing problem) please help

The other day the black ink stopped working - the cartridge isn't empty but it's no longer prinking black on any documents. I have since put all new cartridges in, it recognises them all, including the black one, and if I'm printing something like a word document then it moves as if printing but the page comes out blank - no black ink is used.
I work for myself and work from home so need to get this resolved asap.
I've checked the cartidge - it's good.
I've checked the connection and print cartridge bay - they're clean.
Please help.
The colour is working fine.
The black ink issue is the same whether printing, scanning, or copying.
And I have tried turning everything off and on again!!!

I have a HP photosmart B109n. it was working perfectly and suddenly unable to get it to power up.

HP photosmart B109n. Working perfectly with Windows 7. Just cannot get it to power up. the power is going from the plug to the AC adapter but does not seem to be going as far as the printer

Try first deleting the printer from System Preferences (under the Apple menu) > Print & Scan. Then add it back in again.

Problem HP Photosmart B109n-z printer

Last week i've bought a new printer , photosmart B109n-z, installed wireless on my laptob and installed it with USB on my desktop; All works good, just now I often lose my internet connection on my deskto. Have to unplug/plug the internet cable again in the deskto and to reset the router, afterwards in works again...But before the installing of the printer i have never lost the connection with the internet. Is there a solution for this ? With the laptop, no problems....

OK, is your US Robotics router a DSL modem/router? Is it yours or your ISP's?
Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). Yours is 192.168.1.100 to .199 Let's use 192.168.1.220
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. <<<<This is important!
- Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Hp photosmart b109n-z on a mac 10.5.8 having already installed on win7 2nd laptop - issue

Hi, I have a HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z printer. I setup the printer for the wireless network and then the first laptop has windows 7 op system. I installed this in the usual way and it worked fine. However, i tried to install the printer on the 2nd laptop with a Mac 10.5.8 operating system. This can be found using the IP address in system preferences which i got from the other PC. The Printer at first printed a test page but not anything else. I have tried to re-install a few times but with the same result. I have also re-installed the driver and this had no success. Previously we changed the wireless provider and due to the short nature of the change (2 months) we never installed the printer on this. Ever since we changed back to the original wireless provider the issue has been seen. It should be noted that it is the same provider but different id. Any help on this would be great.

First, you will have to re-install the printer just like you did originally. Do not use the CD for software, get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
Now that the printer is installed, on the Mac reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Click on the Default tab, not the IP tab. Look for the printer with Bonjour next to it, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Photosmart B109n

When connected to a laptop running Windows 7 my B109n prints the page from a wireless connection one quarter page size. I am running the Windows 7 drivers which i downloaded. Any suggestions?

you may uninstall the hp photosmart software & reinstall it with the latest full feature driver.
for win 7- go to start , control panel ,programs,uninstall a program...remove all hp photosmart components.
then download & install the latest software:

HP Printer Driver Photosmart C4480 All-in-One printer

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro, Retina, 13 inch, Late 2013, 2.4 GZ Intel Core i5, 4Gb 1600 Mhz DDR3, 89.04 GB free of 120.11 GB
to OSX Yosemite (from Mavericks 10.9.5) . HP does not have a driver for my workhorse printer, HP Photosmart C4480 All-in-One. The HP website suggested I see if anyone could recommend a work around or reliable alternative download. Thanks in advance for your help.

This did not help. There was no change in the printing of any documents. I am using an HP Photosmart C4480 all in one printer. Every thing I print from any website when in Firefox as my browser prints this way. Thanks, Gene

I am trying to download printer driver and software to my new computer which has Windows 8 but when I click download nothing happens. I have tried this with chrome and explorer. No response to either. I can't find the CD that came with the printer. Help!

Bizarre Wireless Issues - Photosmart B109n

Hi There
I hope someone can give a few pointers to try and sort this out.
Have a wireless Network which uses a Dlink Router for Lan and Internet. Works briliantly until I install the photosmart printer.
With the printer turned on and no printing being done it connects to the network and sits quite happily there all day, I can access the internet at this time. Once a print job has been sent to the printer and it prints it, I lose internet access, the Lan is still there, I can see the printer and use the printer but I can not access the internet. Turning the printer off does not resolve this, turning the computer off does not resolve this. I have to reset the router and make sure that the printer is off then restart the computer and it all comes back and we go again until the next print job.
Any ideas anyone?

This should not be happening, obviously.

- Enter your router's IP (ends with .1) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
- Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
If this does not work, do the same thing only leave the gateway and DNS blank.

When I go to print a document I keep on getting the message error - printing, we are using the printer on a wireless network
Don't know if this has anything to do with it but installed the new BT Home Hub 3 yesterday had previously the BT Home Hub 2 and put in 2 new cartridges otherwise nothing else has changed
I will be very grateful if anyone can help me out here

You will have to re-connect your printer to your new BT Homehub. In the HP folder in your Programs, run the Printer Setup and Software program to re-connect it.
