DW Reporting Server on second SSRS instance - Which Instance Features to install?

I want to install the Reporting Server for the Data Warehouse on an existing SSRS server.
I've run setup and chosen to perform a new installation of SQL Server 2012. On the Instance Features screen, which features do I need to install? Only Reporting Services - Native, Reporting Services - Native and Analysis Services or Database Engine
Services, Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search, Reporting Services - Native and Analysis Services?

Service Manager or data warehouse databases
In addition to the System Requirements for System Center 2012 R2, the Service Manager or data warehouse databases require:
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
The SQL Server and Analysis Services collation settings must be the same for the computers hosting the Service Manager database, data warehouse database, analysis services database, and Reporting Services database.
For Service Manager in System Center 2012 SP1 and System Center 2012 R2 Service Manager:  SQL Server 2012 Analysis Management Objects, which are part of the SQL Server 2012 Feature Pack, are required regardless of the SQL Server version that
you use
For System Center 2012 only: SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Management Objects

  • How to use sql report server web service (SSRS) in flex/actionscript

    Hi,
I am trying to create a web page, that displays a report from my company's report server. I manage to import the ReportExecutionServiceService, but can't figure out how to get the report. anyone know where i can find good documentation of SSRS's WSDL (not on MSDN it didn't do much good)? or better does anyone know what steps are needed (what fields to use / initialize etc.)?

    Hi Sanjay
First you create a report using the data source in Crystal Reports DesignerStand Alone Application and then save it to repository.
This is the easiest way to do it.
You can refer to Crystal Reports User guide and also BOXI Admin guide for the version you are using.
You can download the above from help.sap.com
    Hope this helps!!

  • Security on report server URL for SSRS

I have a report which takes DEPARTMENT_ID as parameter. Users can only see report of their own department but problem is anyone can access the below URL and view other department's report.
    http://<server>/Reports
    OR
    http://<server>/ReportServer?/<FolderName>/Report&DEPARTMENT_ID=5
Is there a way to make these URLs secure so only authorized users can access it? Or this option is not available in SSRS and I have to block access through firewall or something? Like disallowing access to this URL from all IPs and only allow my web server
IP to access it and then I make a page in ASP.Net in which I show this report using Report Viewer?

    Hi,
For this issue I'll suggest you to add one Unique Id in URL lets say id = "ykljlkl340kjkl".
    For this you have to follow below steps;
    1. In BIDS create one Report Parameter Name as ID with visibity = Hidden
    2. Tablix Properties -> Visibity ->  show Hide based on Expression -> iff(Parameter!ID.value="ykljlkl340kjkl",False,True)
    3. In Application ReportViewer Control will be only accessible if Id ="ykljlkl340kjkl" .
    Thanks

    hi,
I'm Trying to install reporting services point SCCM 2012,  I configured the
site system role without problems, but when I tried to configure the report options I get this error:
"There is a problem connectiong to the specified reporting, please check the conection and make sure SQL Reporting Service is running on the especified server. "
The reporting service is running on remote server, I'm using SQL SERVER 2008.
    Two Questions:
1: Which is the cause of the error?
2: Which right permissions must have the reporting services point account?
    Thanks.

Are you allowing port 1433 through the firewall?
Which release of SQL Server are you using and have you applied the relevant minimum CU? Details here

    I. Brief summary on the architecture of Reports Server, CGI and Reports Servlet
    =================================================================================
In order to understand the causes of the error "Unable to communicate with the
Reports Server", let's first briefly review the Reports Runtime Engines, Reports
Server, the Reports CGI, and Reports Servlet architecture.
There are 4 important layers in Reports Server architecture which should be
understood in order to clearly understand the error "Unable to communicate with
    the Reports Server" :
    1) The Runtime Engines : This is the main layer where the reports are actually
executed. On unix systems there are "rwrun60" and on NT systems there are
    "rwrun60.exe" processes.
    2) The Reports Server : The Reports Server recieves the job request and queues
it. When one of its runtime engines becomes available, it sends the
command line to that runtime engine for execution. On Unix systems it is
the "rwmts60" executable and on NT systems it is "rwmts60.exe".
    3) The Reports CGI : The Reports Web CGI passes the request to the Reports Server.
The Reports CGI or Servlet converts the request to a command line that can be executed by the Reports Server and
submits it to the specified Reports Server. On Unix platforms this executable
is "rwcgi60" and on NTs it is "rwcgi60.exe.
    4) The Reports Servlet : Its functionality and function is just the same as "Reports CGI", but it is
a program written in Java as difference to the CGI program (which is
    written in C programming language).
The Reports Server may be running on the same server with the CGI program (or
servlet) OR may reside totally on another machine which does not necessarily have
the same Operating System. For instance CGI may reside in a Windows NT machine
while the Reports server may reside on a Unix box, or any other combination with
    Unix-Linux-NT-2000, etc.
The reports are called with a URL similar to below with the CGI :
    http://fully.qualified.server.name:PORT/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?server=<REPSERVER>&other_parameters=...........
where fully.qualified.server.name is the name of the server where the Reports CGI
reside, and <REPSERVER> is the name of the server.
II. Sources of errors encountered when running a report with Reports Server
    ============================================================================
The Reports Web CGI (or the Reports Servlet) makes a call to the Reports Server
and asks it to place the output into some destination (defined by DESTYPE and
DESNAME parameters), then gives back the necessary response to the calling
program. For example if the DESTYPE is "cache", then the Reports server generates
the report to a file in a temporary place and gives it back to CGI and the CGI gives
it back to the calling program. Otherwise, if the DESTYPE is "file", the Reports Server
generates the report output to the requested file and the CGI replies back the
following message : "Report output was successfully written to requested
    destination.".
If there is any error in this process, the related error message is returned. The
possible sources of errors can be categorized as follows :
    1) The errors that are returned from Reports Server; like the Reports Server can
not find the requested RDF file or the report may be run to file and the
directory where the reports output is asked to be placed does not occur or
similar errors. (Usually the REP-XXXX errors)
    2) Another possible cause of error is the errors returned by the RDBMS to the
Reports Server, for example a table not found error or things like that. Of
course from the CGI point of view these errors are again transmitted from the
Reports Server but in fact the error originates from the RDBMS. (Usually the
    ORA-XXXX errors)
    3) Another possible cause of errors is the CGI itself, for example when the CGI
executable can not connect to the requested Reports Server, then we get the
famous "Unable to communicate with the Reports Server". In this document we will
diagnose the common reasons of this last error.
III. How the CGI (or the Reports Servlet) communicates with the Reports Server
    ===============================================================================
Having said that "Oracle Reports Server CGI - Unable to communicate with the
Reports Server." error is returned back from the CGI itself, let's discuss the
issue of how the Reports CGI connect to the Reports Server. The name of the
Reports Server given in the URL with "server=....." parameter is, in fact, just
a special tnsnames alias, similar to aliases for database connect strings. As it is
important for the CGI to resolve the alias, the CGI needs to know the HOST name (or the
IP) of the machine where the Reports Server is running and the port on which the
Reports Server is listening. So a typical Reports Server alias is defined as follows :
    REP60_<MACHINE>=(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST = <MACHINE>)(PORT = <PORT>))
This is defined in tnsnames.ora file, and the sqlnet.ora file is also used in
    the name resolving operation.
IV. Possible reasons which lead to "Unable to communicate with the Reports Server" error.
    ==========================================================================================
The possible reasons for the "Unable to communicate with the Reports Server" error :
    1) Reports Server is up and running :
Make sure that the Reports Server is really running on the specified server
and listening on the specified port. For details have a look at above
explanations for tnsnames alias of the reports server. And because of this the
CGI could not establish a connection to the Reports Server.
    2) tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora problems :
As described above, the CGI resolves the details for the reports server using
the "tnsnames.ora" and "sqlnet.ora" files. There may be a problem with them,
here are the possible configuration problems :
    a) There is no alias in the tnsnames.ora file for this Reports Server
    b) The CGI looks into the wrong directory for the "tnsnames.ora" and "sqlnet.ora"
files. By default the CGI checks the $ORACLE_HOME/net80/admin directory for
these scripts, where the $ORACLE_HOME is the home of the Forms & Reports
installation. Please note that in a typical 9iAS 1.0.X installation there
are two ORACLE_HOME's, one is for the iAS and the other is for the tools,
usually the home for the tools is a directory with name "806" on NT and
"6iserver" on unix systems. By defining TNS_ADMIN in the environment, one
can override the search path for these two files.
The TNS_ADMIN variable can be defined in one of the following places :
    i) In the environment : On MS Windows platforms check the "Settings
--> Control Panel --> System". On NTs check the environment TAB and in
Win2K systems check the "Environment Variables" button on Advanced tab.
ii) In "6iserver.conf" file. Details are as follows : The main configuration
file for Apache server is "httpd.conf" file which resides in
$IAS_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf directory. In this file there is a line to
include "oracle_apache.conf" and in this "oracle_apache.conf" file
there is a line to include "$ORACLE_HOME/conf/6iserver.conf" file. And
in this file the TNS_ADMIN variable could be defined as follows :
    SetEnvIf Request_URI "rwcgi60" TNS_ADMIN=c:\orant\network\ADMIN
Please note that by defining it this way, the TNS_ADMIN will only be defined
for "rwcgi60" calls, so the other parts of the 9iAS will not be affected by
    this setting.
    c) In sqlnet.ora the "names.default_domain" is set but in tnsnames.ora the
domain is not defined in the alias description. For example if the
"names.default_domain=world" is present and active in "sqlnet.ora" file
then in the "tnsnames.ora" the alias of the reports server should also have
the ".world" extension appended at the end. And another cause is of course
the vice versa for this. If there is no "names.default_domain" is defined
in the "sqlnet.ora" then the alias in "tnsnames.ora" should not have the
    domain extension.
Another important point that should be checked is, if TNS_ADMIN is defined
as described above then the search path is as follows, first the directory
defined by TNS_ADMIN is searched, if the "tnsnames.ora" file is not found in
this directory then $ORACLE_HOME/net80/admin is checked. (And on unix systems
/var/opt/oracle is also checked). These directories are only checked if the file
is not present, so if the "tnsnames.ora" file is present in TNS_ADMIN directory
but the alias is not present, then the other directories are not checked at all.
Let us assume that the tnsnames.ora file is present in the TNS_ADMIN directory but
there is no "sqlnet.ora" files here, then the sqlnet.ora file is checked in
$ORACLE_HOME/net80/admin directory, which could cause the same problem if the
"names.default_domain" is defined in this file.
All the above will result in, CGI to unable to resolve the alias in tnsnames.ora
file so it will not be able to establish a connection to the Reports Server.
    3) Wrong "ORACLE_HOME" setting :
Wrong ORACLE_HOME setting. This is usually the case for Reports Servlet,
because the environment settings are defined in "jserv.properties" file for the
servlets and the setting here will effect both the Reports Servlet and the
setting for Oracle JSP and other servlets. So the other servlets or Oracle JSP
may need to set ORACLE_HOME to home of HTTP server while the reports server needs
it to be set to the TOOLS_HOME directory. In this case the best alternative is
not to set ORACLE_HOME in this directory and leave it to registry or defined the
ORACLE_HOME in "6iserver.conf" file just like the TNS_ADMIN defined above. For
details please have a look at the following document :
Note 179609.1 "Getting an error Unable to communicate with the Reports Server
    using RWSERVLET"
    4) Effect of parameter "maxconnect" :
Another common case for this error is that the CGI request reaches the Reports Server but
the Reports Server refuses connection. The main cause for this case is, that the Reports Server
configuration parameter "maxconnect" is defined too low, there are long running reports on the
server or the server is too busy at that time. Usually a second try some
later time results in a successful connection. If this is the case, the end user
may think that the problem is occasional. For details on this case please
have a look at the following document :
Note 125265.1 "Unable to communicate with the Reports Server"
    5) Passing very large parameters to reports server :
Another known reason for this error is, if you are passing large parameters
to the Reports Server which exceeds sqlnet transmission blocks then the request may
end up with this error. To test it try with small parameter values. If you hit
this case, the solution is to increase the SDU (Session data unit size) and the TDU
(Transport unit data size) parameters in tnsnames.ora file, for details please
have a look at the following document :
Note 197358.1 "Passing large parameters to Reports show up a Reports Server
    error"
    6) A case specific to OAS 4.0.8.2 :
If you are using OAS instead of iAS, and the error appeared after
upgrading to 4.0.8.2 then this is caused because the 4.0.8.2 is using RSF
(Required Support Files) version 8.1.6 and the Reports 6i is using 8.0.6 and the
two could not reside in the same ORACLE_HOME directory. So the solution for this
problem is to create a new batch file and use it from which the actual CGI
executable is called. For details please see the following document :
Note 116754.1 "After applying OAS 4.0.8.2 CGI and Cartridge cannot communicate
    to report server"
    7) A case specific to WEBDB version 2.1.0.9.3 :
Another known case for this error is with WEBDB version 2.1.0.9.3 or less.
If you are using these old versions of WEBDB as HTTP listener, please have a
look at the following document :
Note 95426.1 "URL Not Found When Calling Oracle Developer Report from WebDB Site"

On Windows you can create a Report Services:
rwserver -install server=repserverYou have to choose different names for all servers, like your collegue cannot create a server with the same name. You can start/stop this Report server in Services (control panel). Configuration files can be found under $ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf

  • An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. mail will not be sent.

    Hii all,
I have a subscription which used to send report email daily 10 am morning
now today it does not sent an email the status i s showing above error message ..
why this occurs ?? at the time of subscription running time ??
i have checked there is not error of subscription it runs fine ..
    only today errored ..
    Kindly , help me
    Dilip Patil..

    Hi Dilip,
Based on the error message "An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database." it seems the issue is caused by the Report Server catalog databases are
    corrupted.
To fix this issue, I suggest that you use the Reporting Services Configuration Manager to recreate the Report Server catalog databases. In addition, please make sure report server instance can connect to the report server database. For more details about Configure
a Report Server Database Connection (SSRS Configuration Manager), please see the following document:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-IN/library/ms159133.aspx
Besides, if the issue is caused by the connection to the SQL Server Reporting Services Report Server catalog database is timeout. Please refer to the following thread:

  • Report Server 2005 Issue

    Hi ,
I am getting the following error message when trying to access the Report Server after I configured my reporting services in SharePoint Integrated mode(which gets completed by the way).
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help

Any Idea what may be causing this.
    Thanks & Regards
    Atul LaL

    Hi Atul,
Based on my research, this issue can be caused by Reporting Services add-in for SharePoint not installed on the Report Server. If in this scenario, please try to install it.
The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Add-in provides a set of features that enable you to run a report server. And It is installed through a Setup program that you run at a command prompt on a server that has an instance of the SharePoint product
or technology you want to use.
For more details, please see the following documents:
    Installing the Reporting Services Add-in
Requirements for Running Reporting Services in SharePoint Integrated Mode

  • Reports Server Process gets crashed in 10.1.2.3.0

    Hi,
We have 5 standalone production reports servers (10.1.2.3) load balanced through netscalar. We observed that the reports server process gets crashed intermittently which kills the reports jobs in the queue. Error as below is seen in the ipm.log under $ORACLE_HOME/opmn

Any idea wat could be causing the problem.. any configuration changes that need to be done like to set or increase some timeout parameters in the rep_server.conf, etc. Each time process crash is for exact 6 secs. It clears the failed jobs queue during this time. Do not see any jobs starting or ending during these 6 seconds.

  • Report Server 6i and Portal 3.0

I read through several white papers including "Security Tips in Oracle Reports Services Release 6i with Oracle Portal Release 3.0" and tried to start Reports server with no success but maybe I'm misunderstanding how it works. So I have the following questions:
    1. We are running reports server on the same server as Oracle Portal and do not have any printers assign to this W2K server which is outside our fire wall. Will Reports server start with no printers assigned? I read out on metal link in Note: 109399.1 "It is no longer necessary to have the reports server service running on an account having a printer installed."
    2. We only have port 80 open for the apache web listener. However the tnsnames.ora file requires an entry for the report server with a port=1949. Does this port need to be open?
    3. Do you know how I can check to see which ports are available on W2K? Which are being used? IS there a dos command?
    4. Is Report Server required to run Oracle Reports 6i through Portal 3.0 with SSO?
    null

    Gregg,
1 - There is still a bug pending on this, so you may need to assign a default printer. This may be your issue of why you are unable to get the reports server running.
2 - No, port 1949 is only used between the reports cgi/servlet and the reports server. The communication between the client and the reports cgi/servlet is done on the http you are using (in your case, port 80).
3 - Don't know of any such utility or dos command to find our which ports are in use or available.
4 - Yes, you must have the reports server running to run Oracle Reports 6i through Portal 3.0. 6i is not using sso.

They did not purchase these licenses for Crystal Reports Server, they purchased Crystal Reports and a 5-named user license for Crystal Reports was included as a special offer.  The software included was version XIR2, but they elected to use version XI instead and they received key .
They cannot decide to upgrade now - they must enrol these licenses in maintenance if they want to upgrade them.
    Kind regards,
    Rosemary

    Ajit,
By design, the product is not able to be installed under the superuser account.
    1.  Create a new user and specify a home directory for the user without a quota set.
    2.  Copy or move the installation files to a directory that the new user can read.  I suggest you move the installation files directly into the new user's home directory.
    3.  Logon as the new user (or su - newuser)
    4.  run the installation shell script using that new user's account.
NOTE:  Ensure the system meets the requirements from the supported platforms documents.

  • Rename a reporting server

I am working on a side by side upgrade and migrade of a reporting server to a new server from 2008r2 to 2012. Standard edition.
I will call it ServerA- old server, ServerB - new server.
Both server has db engine and reporting service installed. Standalone and native mode.
So far I have taken these steps:
    1. Do all the backups of database and some configuration files and encryption key.
    2. Installed SQL 2012 on ServerB and restore ReportServer and ReportServertempdb from ServerA backup to ServerB.
    3. In reporting server configuration manager of ServerB, databse setup page, change database and reconnect.
    4. restore encryption key from ServerA to ServerB.
    5. I open the report server manager website, it gives error The feature: "Scale-out deployment" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services, I go the the reportsever databse and delete the key that is associated with the oldServerName.
    Everything works fine so far.
Now we have a plan to swap the server name this weekend.
That means I will change the servername of ServerB back to ServerA, and take the old ServerA offline.
This way the developers have no need to change the connection string that in their applications.
    But my question comes:
Steps I am going to do:
1, Take offline ServerA. Network admin will rename ServerB to ServerA.
I will then change SQL server name by using Sp_dropServer and Sp_addServer .
    2. Then open Reporting server configuration tool, database setup page, -change databse button from there to change servername.
    My question is next step:
In the scale -out deployment, will servername change from ServerB to ServerA automatically? or will it have both ServerA and ServerB there?
If both, I will have to remove one. Which one should I remove? Or should I do another encryption key restore?
Or should I update the record in reportserver.dbo.keys table to update the table name from ServerB to ServerA?
    Thanks
    SQLFriend

It is a good reminder to make a DNS record to Point to ServerB. Our network admin didn't mention that option to me. If renaming option won't work, I will try that.
I thought to rename it may be a more cleaner way and do not cause confusion.
It is easy to rename SQL server with only DB engine and SSIS installed, for reporting server it is a little tricky.
Especially on the Scale-out deployment screen, which is not well documented if having multiple servers showing  there. We only need one server to show there,  so no  need to use Enterprise edition.
Because for now I cannot test it , I have to see what will show on that screen exactly when we do the server swap and rename time on Friday. Two servers or only one?
I know a couple of ways to remove the server from that screen: but for this case, I wonder should I delete the ServerB on the screen, or delete ServerA and rename ServerB item in the reportserver.dbo.keys table? the installationID part confuse me.
Just thought if someone in this forum have experience of that or know exactly the scale out deployment and table/schema work?

  • Using Web Services on the Crystal Report Server XI to return reports

<p>Hi,</p><p>I&#39;m trying to setup for the first time a Crystal Reports Server XI R2 and put a couple of reports onto the server.  This is so I can access the reports on the crystal reports server using using the crystal web services and finally display the reports in an ASP.NET web application.</p><p>So far I have installed the server, created a couple of reports, put them on the server, and tested to see that I can access the reports using the Central Management Console.  This all works fine and the reports are returned.</p><p> Ok, now for the bit that&#39;s not working.</p><p> I&#39;ve got a C# ASP.NET web application, and I&#39;ve followed a couple of <a href="http://support.businessobjects.com/documentation/product_guides/cr_net/vs_2005/html/crtsktutorialsotherdynamicpulldownwebservicehelpermethod.htm" target="_blank" title="Adding a Helper Method to Access Crystal Reports Web Services">tutorials</a> to give me an idea of what I should be doing to use the Web Services that are provided:  </p><ul><li>ServerFileReportManager.asmx</li><li>ServerFileReportService.asmx </li></ul><p>However, it appears that when I list the child objects on the crystal server:</p><blockquote><font size="2" color="#008080"><font size="1"><em><font size="2"><p><font size="1">serverFileReport = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ServerFileReport</font>();<br /></font><font size="1">serverFileReport.ReportPath = <font color="#800000">""</font>;<br /></font><font size="1"><br />reportManagerRequest = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ReportManagerRequest</font>();<br /></font><font size="1">reportManagerRequest.ExtraData = serverFileReport.GetExtraData();<br /></font><font size="1">reportManagerRequest.ParentUri = serverFileReport.ToUri();<br /></font><font size="2" color="#008080"><font size="1"><em><br />ReportManagerResponse</em></font></font><font size="1"><em> reportManagerResponse = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ReportManagerResponse</font>();<br />reportManagerResponse = serverFileReportManagerProxy.ListChildObjects(reportManagerRequest);</em></font></p></font></em></font></font></blockquote><p><font size="1"><font size="1">I always get a</font> <font size="2"><font size="1"><em>reportManagerResponse.ReportUris</em></font></font></font><font size="1"> with a count of 0.  Now the thing is I know that I have a couple of reports on the Crystal Server, but for some reason they&#39;re not been picked up.   I must be missing something.</font></p><p><font size="1"><font size="1">Does anyone have any ideas??? <p>I looks like your mixing technologies here.   You are using <strong>Crystal Report Server</strong> and the <strong>Crystal Report Web Services</strong> that come with Visual Studio.</p><p>I know that this might seem like they are the same product, and the naming does seem confusing but I&#39;ll try and make it easy for you to understand.</p><p><strong>Crystal Reports Server</strong> - This is a managed reporting solution which allows you to distribute your reports via the web.  It has features like scheduling and built in security.</p><p>It appears that you have a handle on what Crytal Report Server is from what you have been able to accomplish those far.  You have created your report and published it to Crystal Report Server and viewed it via the Central Management Console.  Crystal Reports Server has two methods for accessing the reports programatically.</p><p>1. The Enterprise SDK</p><p>2. The Web Services SDK</p><p><a href="/node/353">Check out this white paper that compares these two SDKs </a></p><p><a href="/node/256">This paper describes the Web Services SDK.</a></p><p>In the above paper there is a getting started section which points you to the Developer Library which shows you how to install the web services on your Crytal Reports Server machine.</p><p>Crystal Reports Server does not have the Business Object web services installed by default so I would suggest following the directions in the <a href="http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2/en/devsuite.htm">Developer Library.</a></p><p>The directions wont talk about Crystal Reports Server but these are the directions to get the Web Services installed. </p><p>There is another web services technology which you are writing code for which is called <strong>Crystal Report Web Services.  </strong>This technology comes with Visual Studio 2003.  It provides un-managed reports via webservices.  Un-managed means these reports are not published to Crystal Reports Server.</p><p>So basically your problem is that your code is for <strong>Crystal Report Web Services </strong>but you are trying to view reports published to <strong>Crystal Reports Server.</strong>  To take advantage of scheduling and security and web service access I would suggest using Crystal Reports Server and install the Business Objects Platform webservices to access the reports. </p><p>I hope that&#39;s clear.<br /></p><p>Rob Horne<br /><a href="/blog/10">Rob&#39;s blog - http://diamond.businessobjects.com/blog/10</a></p>

  • Need info. on multiple report server

I need to have two 9i report server on the same machine and they should serve two different language applications and hence should have two different NLS_LANG JA16SJIS and WEISO8859P1. The applications are forms6i and the report servers should be 9i.
    My question is:
    1. Is it possible to have two 9i report servers on the same machine with different NLS_LANG?
    2. If possible, can they be accessed from forms6i?
    3. If this is feasible, pls. give me guidance or the doc where I can find the info. to set up this config.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Venkatesan
If you are going to run several Reports 9i server with different NLS parameters, you may want to explore Dynamic Environment switching feature. Apply the latest Reports 9i patch and go through the Release Notes that comes along on how to use it.
Briefly, Dynamic Environment feature allows you to have a single Reports Server serving report request of multiple languages. All you need to do is a minor modification in the Server configuration file. Next when sending a request to Reports Server you need to specify which language this reports is.

  • Where to define .rpt file location in Crystal Report Server 2008

    Hi all,
I have installed Crystal Report Server 2008 in my machine and trying to invoking the report from my java application. Earlier we have used Crystal Report Server XI Release 2 and in my java application i am passing crystal report server name, report name, parameters and it is woking fine in Crystal Report Server XI Release 2. But now I have installed Crystal Report Server 2008.
In Crystal Report Server XI Release 2, we have a option to provide the report directory folder from the computer. That is in Central Configuration Manager - > Right click on Report Application Server -> Properties -> Parameter Tab -> Change Option Type to Server and And Select directory which contains the .rpt files.
Like the same way, i need to give the report directory path in Crystal Report Server 2008. Then only the report server will find the report from the directory and display it. In my application i am passing the report name to the crystal report server. The report server will find the exact report from that folder from the local system and display it in application.
I can able to give the report file directory in Crystal Report Server XI Release 2, but cannot able in Crystal Report Server 2008.
Pls help me how could i do this?

  • How to close report Server?

Is it possible to shut down report-server after closing the Form which started report-server?

Unfortunately, the report designer figures that there has been a change to the report, so it wants to save it. There is nothing you can do in the add-in, or else where to change that. Other than killing the crw32.exe process in the add-in after the add-in saves the report (yuck).
