Error 0x80070057 After Deleting Bitlocker Partitions

I'm in the process of configuring OSD through SCCM 2012 R2 U1 and am having issues getting the task sequence to format the drive again after the drive was encrypted with BitLocker.
I've read on multiple sites that Windows is able to install right over a BitLocker'd drive through PE without needing to disable BL through windows first if the partitions are gone. As such, I've setup the following to run in diskpart prior to the Partition
Disk 0 - BIOS step:
select disk 0
select partition 1
delete partition override
select partition 2
delete partition override
exit
This works, however the Partition Disk 0 - BIOS step fails at formatting C: with
Error 0x80070057 The parameter is incorrect.
It formats the system reserved partition just fine, but leaves the remainder of the drive as "raw" and usually unreadable by diskpart which requires me to boot to gparted to delete the partitions on the drive to do anything with it again.
I've:
verified SCCM boundaries
tried assigning a variable to save the drive letter to
disabled quick format
disabled all Bitlocker steps
disabled the diskpart steps I added
format the drives prior to the task sequence with:
Select Disk 0
Clean
Create Partition Primary Size=350
Active
Format FS=NTFS Label="System Reserved" Quick Override
Assign Letter=S
Create Partition Primary
Format FS=NTFS Label=OS Quick Override
Assign Letter=C
Nothing will get the SCCM task sequence past this. This happens for both Windows 7 and 8.1 task sequences.
What's interesting is, if I load up the Windows 7 media via flash drive and install through that, Windows installs without issue. I've then been able to bitlocker the drive and unencrypt it as expected. Attempting to run the task sequence after this results
in the same error.
My question is, what is different between the default windows installer and the windows install through SCCM when it comes to partitioning the drive and how do I get the SCCM task sequence to match the default Windows install process so this will install?

I've tried with that and numerous other labels and it still fails.
If I've gotten Win7 / 8 installed through the default media, it seems like the drive can be partitioned correctly and working fine. When the "Partition Disk 0 - BIOS" task runs, SCCM doesn't give me the ability to specify the exact diskpart commands; it
sorts that out on its own. The diskpart commands above were my troubleshooting steps. SCCM wipes them away once the Task Sequence runs.
There's something that SCCM doesn't like about drives that have been bitlocker'd and not properly unencryped through the OS prior to wiping the drive.
Does the default Windows 7/8 media run different diskpart commands during install than SCCM would run for install? One works - the other doesn't.
Below are the settings that are configured for this step - which I believe are default for an auto generated task sequence.

  • Slow reboot after deleting bootcamp partition

    Hello,
I was just told by a tech store that my bootcamp partition was slowing down my computer incredibly. I no longer need this partition so I went into Disk Utility, clicked the partition, and deleted it. I also had my RAM updated from 4GB to 8GB. I have an Early 2011 Macbook Pro, operating on Yosemite.
The only question I have is, when I rebooted my computer for the first time after deleting the partition, the restarting process took much longer than normal. Without the bootcamp startup, I figured the startup time would be less, when in reality, it was longer. Is there something I missed while deleting my partition, and is there a way to fix this and speed up the reboot time? If not, will this slow reboot be a one time issue?
    Any comments would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Rachel

There is a hidden Recovery HD between the OS X and the deleted BC partition, which you can verify using
sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0
    in OSX Terminal.
BCA does a better job by also relocating the Recovery HD appropriately and giving you a contiguous partition.
The only other method is to subsume Recovery HD in OS X partition and then re-install OS X which will rebuild Recovery HD. This does not modify any of you files, but just the OS.
You will also need to clean the Hybrid MBR which is now dangling and inappropriate for your case.

  • Can't boot anything after deleting C partition in order to install Windows 8.1

I have a ASUS X55VD notebook, wich had a Windows 7 64-bit (and a dual booted Ubuntu, but with Windows bootloader). Yesterday I tried to install a Windows 8.1, so I inserted a disc and restarted.
The window to manually select the partition, on wich it will be installed, came up so I formated C partition where Windows 7 was installed. It did not allow me to install to that partition because, a new format (GPT) had to be used. So i chose to delete the
partition. Deleting was quite long, after wich the computer restated, and after that it only showed black screen.
The Windows DVD is still spinning, but nothing shows. Can't acces the BIOS (none of the keys work).
    Tried:
    - Hardware reset (battery out>hold power button fro 10-20 sec>put battery inside>start) - No change
    - Put a Live Linux DVD to boot from it - No change
    - Put a hirens boot cd - No change
    - USB boot - No change
    - Connect a external keyboard and tried accessing BIOS - Nothing happened
I would suffice with just gettng some of my data from him, and sending him to repair Can't tinker with harware, or it will void my varrancy
Please help. The problem is really urgent.

    Hi,
It seems a hardware issue, you can first try to reset the CMOS - remove the cell battery from the motherboard for at least half hour, re-insert it, boot up. The BIOS settings should be reset to defaults. But for better solution, I
     suggest you contact the manufacture.

  • Cannot resize "Macintosh HD" after deleting second partition: OS 10.9.4

I have partitioned my Macbook Pro in order to see if I could install Snow Leopard on one of the partitions, the main HD running Mavericks.
Sadly, my late 2013 Mackbook Pro is not compatible with Snow Leopard (or at least I was unable to determine how to prepare the partition in order that the snow leopard install disc would run successfully).  At any rate, after this failed experiment, I deleted the partition I created for snow lion using disc utilities.  The problem I am having now is that I am unable to resize the single "partition" to the full size of the drive. I read this thread, Unable to delete second partition, and it suggests booting the mac in recovery mode in order to restore to a backed up version of the HD, however this is suggested as a work around for not being able to delete a partition, which is not my case.  Again, my problem is simply that once I have deleted the second partition, I am unable to have the single partition assume the full space of the drive.  Any suggestions short of a complete re-install?

Here's the disc utilities snapshot after I deleted the partition that took up the space in the lower part of the quadrant.  I'd like the MacIntosh HD to subsume the space leftover by the deleted partition.

  • Lion: error trying to delete a partition with disc utility

Hi to all. Today I tryed to delete an old and unused partition with disc utility, but after starting the process an error pop up ans says: Necessary support for file system resize, like HFS+ with enabled journaling.
What should i do? I've created a cd with iPartition, and it works, but i prefer to use disc utility. Can anyone help?

Select the partition in Disk Utility and see if you can turn on journaling, if it's an HFS+ volume. How is the drive presently partitioned: APM, GUID, or MBR?
How old is this partition and how was it created?

  • Event 4004, Error 9098. after deleting and recreating replication group

I have my primary server replicating with 3 servers and 3 different replication groups across a WAN. I'm working through a hardware upgrade, and need to move my RG up one folder level now at one of the locations now that I have the new hardware in place.
I've removed the RG in DFS manager,  I stopped the dfs service and deleted the DFSPrivate folder from both servers.
Now when I recreate the RG, one folder level higher on the primary server, it replicates in AD/event log on both servers, but after about 7min I get the error 9098 on the primary, and a failure error on the secondary server.
Replication is still working to other 2 servers, so I'm afraid to run the rmdir "D:\System Volume Information\DFSR" /s command in fears that it will mess up the other 2 RG's.
Is there a better way to kickstart this new RG? is my only option to rebuild the DB? What does rebuilding do, just rebuild all the file indexes? will I need to also delete it on all the secondary servers? I have good backups of all the data, so I'm not too
concerned about loosing data, just downtime, and long hours for me.
I also tried creating a new folder on the secondary server, it seemed to get a little further, it created a new DFSPrivate folder, but still failed a short time later with the same 9098 error on the Primary. I know another option is to recreate the folder
on both servers, copy data, and replicate, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.

Followup for anyone in the same boat. on my existing RG, I purged the dfsr folder from both servers(3 servers in total), with the dfs replications service stopped, and each leg of the connecting disabled and purged the DFSPrivate directories, I then restarted
the service, and enabled the replication for each connection, replication connected on each server but did not start replicating, I had to restart the dfsr service on each server again, and manually set the primary server, both were set to NO when I checked
membership status. No data loss in this process, it all worked very slick, the initial replication finished in about 2hrs.
I was then able to recreate the connection for my 2nd replication group that started all of this, it fired right off, no more 9098 errors since both dfsr databases were re-created.

I've tried disabling and re-enabling UM but it doesn't work. Any idea how to resolve?

    Hi,
Did the issue happen only for the Lync account which you recreated before or also happen for multiple users?
Please check if you have assigned the correct number in Line URI in user settings.
Please also check if there any policy influence it.

  • I keep getting "unknown error -42110" after deleting SC folder

My son, daughter and I share a computer running Windows 7.  We each have our own iTunes libraries and logins.  My son's iTunes library crashed last week and completely needed rebuilding, This was a major pain.  He still can't access about 10 purchased songs, due to some 90 download issue.  He kept getting the "unknown error -42110" everytime he would open iTunes.  I went the this forum and they suggested that deleting the SC folder would fix it.  It did, but now the other two accounts are getting the -42110 error every time that iTunes is opened by the other user.  This is with iTunes 11.02.26.
It appears that only one SC folder exists in Windows 7 in this location
    C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes
Can anyone suggest a different fix?
I believe that continuing to delete this folder will just cause the error to move to another user.
The error itself seems pretty rampant on these boards, but I haven't seen anyone discuss the exact problem that I am having.
    Thanks

Perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • How do i recover disk space after deleting windows partition?

I have a macbook pro running on maverick. I removed the windows partition using bootcamp assistant, but I did not gain the disk space back. The disk space is 500gb but it's still showing 250gb?

Yes, that matters. So your partition map looks something like this:
You see one single space surrounded in blue with the disk name in the center, sort of like the above. But, you say that this space is only 250 GBs of your 500 GB drive. In other words the space in the Size field reads 250 GBs, mol? Am I correct in my understanding?
I suggest you might give this a try: repair the hard drive using Disk Utility. Then restart the computer. See if that recovers the space. It would also help if you could send me a screen image like mine but of your Disk Utility display on the same settings.

  • [Solved] Can't boot into Arch after deleting some partitons

About 6 months ago I installed Arch on a machine that used to run Ubuntu. Had some trouble at the time getting to boot into Arch but somehow managed. Now eventually decided to delete the old Ubuntu partitons to free up some space using gparted. Arch partition number changed from sda12 to sda6.
On rebooting after deleting ubuntu partitions with gparted, I got an ubuntu splash screen and a whole lot of ubuntu boot options. Somehow these were all contained in my Arch's /boot/grub/menu.lst. Arch is all on one partition and no separate boot partition (which I had with Ubuntu - maybe I haven't deleted that and this is the problem?). Will need to check that out.
I can chroot into Arch and did the following -
    grub> find /boot/grub/stage1
    (hd0,5)
    grub> root (hd0,5)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
    grub> setup (hd0)
    Checking if "/boot/grub/stage1" exists... yes
    Checking if "/boot/grub/stage2" exists... yes
    Checking if "/boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5" exists... yes
Running "embed /boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 (hd0)"... 16 sectors are embedded.
    succeeded
    Running "install /boot/grub/stage1 (hd0) (hd0)1+16 p (hd0,5)/boot/grub/stage2 /boot/grub/menu.lst"... succeed

Note that when I boot and press esc to get the menu I get the menu.lst I created (in the second quote) above in /dev/sda6, ie the one with the Arch hd and uuid entries - so grub is looking there and finding that menu.lst, but something goes wrong after that.
OK. Have now booted the machine and after pressing esc and selecting the uuid entry (the same thing happens with the hd entry) I get a whole lot of stuff, but what seems relevant is (typing it out) -
    List of all partitions:
No filesystem could mount root, tried:
Kernel panic - not syncing: VS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
Pid: 1, comm: swapper Not tainted 2.6.39-Arch #1
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. This is my MythTV machine so the WAF is about to take a big dive!
If I could just install grub to the MBR as if this was a new installation of Arch that would be great.
I am really lost as to what is going on, which I'm sure is evident.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi. Unfortunately that didn't help.
So next, based on this post https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … el_version I chrooted into Arch and (a) rolled back and (b) reinstalled my kernel but that didn't help either. I suspected it wouldn't because the kernel was working fine before I deleted the partitions in question.

    [2011-08-08 23:32] upgraded kernel26 (2.6.39.3-1 -> 2.6.39.3-1)
I then did a pacman -Suy and the linux package has now replaced kernel26. ( See this wiki entry http://www.archlinux.org/news/changes-t … filenames/). I didn't change anything in menu.lst owing to this and it seems there is no need to. Unfortunately this hasn't helped either - still getting the kernel panic.

I don't think I've mentioned that my old menu.lst seems to have disappeared and so must have been on one of the partitions that were deleted. I did have 2 Arch installations when I was setting things up months ago and that menu.lst may have been on the other partition but pointing to this partiton's kernel for booting. Presumably that's possible since this partiton is definitely the one I have been using for the last several months (confirmed by log and other files updated in the last few days etc). Even so, I suppose that probably wouldn't be relevant to this issue, since grub is finding the menu.lst on this partition when it boots so it is looking in the intended place now.
It seems I'm at a bit of a dead end. It seems these kernel panics are usually because there is something wrong with the kernel - which there wasn't with mine (and presumably the kernel in the new linux package is fine) or there is a typo in menu.lst (I can't see one and nobody has pointed one out yet) or menu.lst is pointing to the wrong partition (mine is pointing to the same partition and /boot directory that is found by grub - which is where my boot image is located - so it seems to be correct). I have nevertheless tried editing the menu.lst entry when booting to boot from different partitions but so far that hasn't worked either.
If anybody has other ideas I'd really appreciate it.
If not, some suggestions on re-installing would also be appreciated. I have a recent tar archive of the partition, but presumably reinstalling that wouldn't be of much use since it would just put back what is currently there. I guess that I need to format the partition, create a separate boot partition, do a fresh install of Arch into the formatted partition (and with boot in the new boot partition). And then restore my tar backup (excluding the boot directory) into the formatted partition?
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Jason
See below. The problem is that on some of our laptops not anywhere geographically close to our IT department, the laptop has been setup with 2 partitions and on some only with 1 partition (we used another deployment system 2 years ago), so I am trying
to prepare all our corporate laptops for Bitlocker encryption. The reason why I made this task sequence was to hit all those laptops that is not being reinstalled / installed again in the near future.
Do you have any suggestions, should it help to remove the cmd.exe /c in front of the Bitlocker cmd line ?
We have tried the MBAM solution, but in my opinion too many problems with the MBAM client.

  • My MacBook Pro encounters an error when partitioning for loading windows using Bootcamp Assistant. I deleted the partition that was there in order to upgrade to Bootcamp 5 but now I am struggling to get Bootcamp 5 to complete the job. Help please.

I am struggling to Partition my MacBook Pro using Bootcamp 5, can someone help, please. I previously had successfully loaded Windows 7 running Bootcamp 4 on the same machine. When I upgraded to Windows 8 I started encountering problems. My trackpad would not work and it required me to load Bootcamp 5" as I was running 32 bit this is not supported by Bootcamp 5 I had to completely delete the previous partition, but now I can't repartition as it goes halfway and says an error has been encountered and Bootcamp cannot partition this drive.
I do not know how to defragment the drive in Apple as I can in windows nor can I clean it up to maybe get everything in neat clusters, maybe somebody can help me solve this problem.

Sorry Bobthefisherman, this was not helpful. I had already gone through these pages before coming to you. What I have discovered however is that when Bootcamp Assistant deleted the partition, it did not create a single volume but created three partitions instead which maybe the reason why it cannot create the new part ion parameters I am asking it crate. So I took it to the geniuses at Apple who suggested that I reformat the drive and reload everything again! and this might solve the problem. We'll all know whether this is helpful once it finishes the formatting of the hard drive. This process is taking a very long time to complete so I am leaving it overnight for it to complete. I will keep you updated on progress. I am also told that Apple is struggling with Windows 8 drivers and I may not be able to use that, so I am going back to Windows 7 even though I was beginning to like windows 8 very much.

I have both count(*) and count(1) inside the materialized view. There is update and delete transactions done on most of the tables. The refresh is set to be at 4 am though a refresh group . But it fails with the error shown below . Please help. thanks

  • Error on SAPLZ001 program after deletion of Function Module

    Hi,
I got some problem with my datasource (processed by a function module), this error occurs after I delete the FM in D because this will not be used in Q.
Below is the details of my problem, Hope you can help me soon. thank you very much
    Includes LSVIMFTX
    Field "FORBIDDEN_FUNC_NAME_CHARS" is unknown
    History of the problem:
After Q refresh, we need to retransport all TR that are existing to Q01
    before the refresh.
The Error occurs when retransporting existing Datasource process by a
    function module to Q01
    Error Message:
Program SAPLZ001, Include LZ001UXX: Syntax error in line 000011
    INCLUDE report 'LZ001U07' not found
this is because 1 function module is missing in the Q but the FM name
exist in the LZ001UXX under LZ001U07.
But since the missing FM is no longer needed, I decided to delete this
FM in Dev and transport the changes done to Q, hoping that the failed
datasource transport will be successful after retransport.
After I did the deletion, a new error occurs when releasing the TR, it
    says:
    Includes LSVIMFTX
    Field "FORBIDDEN_FUNC_NAME_CHARS" is unknown
I check manualy the program LSVIMFTX and it says there is no syntax
    error.
But when I check SAPLZ001 program the error occurs.

The FM is for data extraction, I created a Datasource that processed by a FM.
Yes, I get this error in Dev originally, but before I deleted the FM in D, this work fine and when I deleted and transported the action "delete FM" to Q it fails, then when I check it in Q the Q now is having the same problem with D.
I am trying to change the version in D and transported to Q, but transport always fails.
changing version didnt fix the problem with.
Thank you very much for your time...
