Error launching BB Media Sync

I downloaded & installed BB Media Sync. After the installation, I launch the application and a dialogbox displays: "MusicSync has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost." This dialogbox shows up regardless of whether or not my BB8830 is connected to my laptop or not.
I run XP Pro, SP2 on my laptop; I have iTunes v7.2;BB Desktop Manager v4.2.2.12 installed. Does it mean that the downloaded file is bad? or the MediaSync is not ready for primetime?

  • Error when installing Media Sync

I just got my first BlackBerry (Bold with v4.6.0.162) and am in the process of installing the destop software as outlined in this post:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=3...
I've installed the USB drivers, the Desktop Manager without Roxio Media Manager and was moving on to the installation of the Media Sync tool.
When installing from within the Desktop Manager it stops working and shuts down.
When installing from the downloaded BlackBerryMediaSync.exe file, I receive the following error message:
"Setup could not locate the Software License Agreement information.  Setup cannot continue and will now exit."
I'm working with a Dell, Vostro 1510, Vista Basic.  I've tried "run as administrator" and also when logged on as the administrator with the same results.
Any thoughts or assistance will be greatly appreciated as I've not been able to track down this problem anywhere.

    Hi lighthouse007:
Can you install Media Sync as a stand alone product?  (http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/media/mediasync.jsp)
Does it work if you launch it outside of Desktop Manager after you do this?  Does it work if launched from within Desktop Manager?
    Cheers

  • BlackBerry Media Sync has encountered a problem and needs to close

I have been trying to sync my BB Curve with Media Sync and am continually receiving the same error message, "BlackBerry® Media Sync has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I have tried restarting the computer, insalling and reinstalling, MediaSync, Desktop Manager and iTunes. All these actions seem to be ineffectivei n syncing music to my Curve via Media Sync and I keep receiving the same error message. I am able to manually move music from iTunes onto my Memory Card in the E: Drive. Any assistance in troubleshooting Media Sync would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Media Sync - Stopped Working

I haven't updated or installed anything, my phone is 5 days old.
I loaded up some music last night with the Media Sync, worked fine.
    - added 4 more podcasts this morning - worked fine
    - tried to add some more files at lunch and I get the followoing error:
"The Blackberry Media Sync application is not currently installed. Do you want to download and install this application?"
    - I click "Yes"
"The Blackberry Media Sync application failed to initialize"
i've done the following to troubleshoot:
    - reinstalled BB Desktop Manager
    - reinstalled the Media Sync separately
    - verified application is running with admin privs
    - verified C:\Users\<My Name\My Pictures\Blackberry exists
    - verified registry key is pointing to that folder and it can access it
    - Run all windows updates
    - rolled back to pre-6.x Desktop Manager.
What would cause it to just stop working from this morning to lunch? 4 hours and my PC was offline that entire time so it's not like it was running automatic updates then.

  • Blackberry Media Sync Problems

I downloaded the new Blackberry Media Sync program last night.  It recognized my iTunes library just fine but won't connect to my blackberry.  I get prompted for the devices password and the PIN shows up in the app but then I get an error that the device cannot be found.  According to the comments in the following page on Crackberry I am not the only one.  http://crackberry.com/itunes-your-blackberry-blackberry-media-sync-now-available
I have a Sprint 8130 with OS 4.3.0.127 and am running Windows Vista on my PC.  Any ideas how I can fix this issue?

    Hi Guys, Hi 3rugger,
I'm having the same exact issue but it's driving me insane.
I tried everything to get it to work but I keep getting the same error message:
BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device. Click Connect to try again or Cancel to disconnect.
The device is listed in the programs window and the Sprint 8330 is on the Connected to Desktop screen.
I'm running Vista Home Premium with SP2.
    Any help would be great.

  • Blacberry Bold and Blackberry Media Sync

I have been trying to use Blackberry Media Sync to sync my playlists with my bb. My bb desktop manager 4.6.0.13 is working fine, recognizes my device, etc. When I try to use Media Sync I get an error message ' Blackberry Media Sync failed to connect to your device. I have uninstalled and reinstalled software, upgraded my handhelds software to the latest version, media card support is on, mass storage mode support is on. i have att and their tech division cant solve my prob. please help

OK guys I am not a geek I have no idea how to do this stuff.  But it is Jan 2011 and I could not get my new laptop to recognize the Blackberry Curve 9700 so I could sync it up.   What I did to solve this is I synced up the device with my old desktop, which I had not done in over 6 months after I had a hard drive crash on a laptop.  Whatever happened, the device ended up with  a bunch of new software on it and when I put it on the new laptop it synced up just fine.  I don't know if this will help anybody but I hope so.

  • Media Sync Error - encountered a problem

I have a 8330, upgrade my Desktop Manager to V4.6 and running V4.3 on BB.  I am trying to get MusicSync to work, but I get a error each time I goto to start it up.
"MusicSync has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.  If you are in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost"
    Kudos if you can help.

    You just solved your problem.
Media manager and Media sync will not move or transfer itunes, that are DRM protected. You will see little red locks on them
in media sync. Blackberry will not play them even if you were to get them there. There are iTunes that are not DRM but they cost more.
Now I don't know anything about this but I know if you Google you supposedly can find free apps that will strip the DRM from the
songs. (That's what I hear anyway.)
    That explains both your problems.
Cough cough (limewire)   cough, excuse me......

  • BlackBerry Media Sync error

Hello, has anyone run across the following error when trying to sync using the BlackBerry Media Sync tool?
"BlackBerry Media Sync received an error while transferring songs to the device. Check your media card and try again."
I've had a few users say that this is happening and I'm not sure how to resolve. Users have tried a different microSD card, different USB cable, wiped the device, different BlackBerry, verified that mass storage mode is enabled, verifed that they can drag files to the microSD through mass storage mode & transfer via Roxio media manager.
Any suggestiong would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I've been having this problem for ages and FINALLY sorted it today!  It seems to be an issue with corrupt files:  I've tried converting them to a different file format and they crash when they do that so I can only assume that some of them won't copy even if the original file plays OK in iTunes. The only workaround is to delete them on your playlist.  You'll know which ones they are because that'll be the point at which MediaStync crashes out.  Just take a note of them, exit MediaSync, remove them from your playlist, restart sync and repeat until you (finally) get the rest on there.  Hint: don't delete the media before syncing as you'll have to go throuh the whole process from scratch, and you have to exit and restart MediaSync or it'll still look for the file.  good luck!

  • Media Sync Error - enable mass storage manually message repeats

I have a blackberry 8310 with an extra memory card installed.
Every time I try to use Blackberry Media Sync I get an error message that reads: The connected Blackberry device required mass media storage mode to be enabled manually, please do so from your device and click Retry.
However when I have enabled mass media mode manually and clicked retry, it gives me the exact same message, or sometimes sits there saying connecting to Blackberry device indefinitely.
I have checked for updates both for my desktop software (version 5.0.1) and my Media Sync software (Version 2.0.0.27) all other software is working normally, and I can move music to my device with media manager (which I only tried after receiving the error message about 20 times).
    Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Have you used this media card in a different Blackberry and used media sync
with it? Please read the link on the bottom of the post about Media Sync.
DId you format it in the Blackberry when you received it?
On solely your Blackberry, can you store a picture and retrieve it?
Go to options>memory and set the following options:
Use the following settings in the memory option of the device:
    Compressions enabled
    Media card support ON
Media transfer protocol ON (Storm and Bold only)
    Mass storage support ON
Auto enable Mass storage support when connected ON
Save all changes. Now back out of the memory section and go to security>encryption> DISABLE.
Do a battery pull as listed below and let us know how it goes.

  • Music services failed to load unexpected error in media sync

    Hi,
I am having issues in last 24 hours with Media Sync on desktop manager specifically with music sync'ing. Had my 9800 since July and been using Blackberry since 2004 and I havent come across this problem in the past.
I have googled the issue and look on other forums for fixes but nothing has worked thus far. Blackberry's help site on the topic isnt much help and I have done everything from uninstalling Wi-Fi sync and re-installing, deleting the media sync music files off the phone and uninstallled and re-installed Desktop manager. Also deleted files from Itunes etc.
Irony is that my playbook music backs up and I can sync but not my Torch! But then my Playbook cant back apps up. Again it backed up before when I got it for Xmas but in last week I have managed to get it to back up once after numerious attempts during a selective back up.
Is this an issue with current version of Desktop Software or something else?
    Crackberry user since 2004

hi there , just got a 2.0 version and have not been able to sync music as well, i can do pics , print to go files asn such but no  music, any sugestions

  • Error on Media Sync 3.0 Install - Unsupported Operating System

I am having problems installing the new version of media sync on my computer running Windows XP Pro SP3 (v.3311). After it unpacks the files and begins to run the installation wizard, I receive a message that says I am trying to install it on a computer w/ a unsupported operating system. Here is what I have done to try to fix the problem:
    1) I have re-downloaded the installation file from Blackberry multiple times over a span of days
    2) I have tried to download an install through the check for updates feature in my current version of media sync
    3) I have tried uninstalling media sync and rebooting my computer and then trying to install the new version
    4) I saw in one post in another Blackberry forum that you need to be on the highest release of v. 2. I downloaded as instructed and when trying to install it I also get the unsupported operating system message
I have run out of attempts I can think of, and have searched Blackberry, Crackberry, and Google for a solution.
Has anyone figured out anything yet on this one?
P.S. -- I know that some have successfully installed the new Media Sync on their computers running XP w/ SP3. So there is not need to reply letting me know you did not have a problem installing it.
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Your Microsoft Windows Xp SP3 version value in the registry may be inconsistent or missing ...
     - Please navigate to the following tree in the registry editor and paste the value for "CSDVersion"
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
The regkey can be accessed by searching for 'CSDVersion' in the registry editor or you could follow the steps below.
    (1) Click 'Start' > choose 'Run'
    (2) type 'regedit' in the run window and click 'ok'. This will open the registry editor
    (3) Navigate the tree to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion'
    (4) look in the left side pane and locate 'CSDVersion' and its value.
And how did your upgrade to SP3 happen? Did it come preinstalled on your machine or have you upgraded it by downloading upgrades from the internet.

  • BB 8330 Media Manager, Media Sync hanging - not connecting...

(I just know this is treated in depth somewhere but after a couple of hours of searching, I can't find it so appologies in advance...)
I have a BB 8330 from Verizon running v4.5.0.77 - no media card.
    Using Device Manager, the:
    Driver version is: 4.1.0.4
Driver Node Strong Name is: oem25.inf:RIM:RimUsb.Device.NT:4.1.0.4:usb\vid_0fca&pid_8004&mi_00
Windows thinks the driver is up to date.
    I am running  Desktop Manager v4.7.0.32[Nov 4 2008]
When I launch DM, I can successfully Back up my BB.
On my Vista PC - When I attempt to launch  Media Manager 9, it has found the files in the Library but it goes into a wierd loop where it keeps seeing the F: drive and then removes it and then resets and then sees it again - forever (or at least for the day that I left it in that loop)
I loaded the DM on another PC running XP and observe a similar behavior - it's not quite as zippy so it just looks more like a hang
To try something different, I downloaded Media Sync v2.0.0.22 and, when the BB is connected, I get the error: "BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device. Click Retry to try again or Cancel to disconnect." - I get the same error with and without the DM running.
Something seems sort of hinky in that, while my BB is plugged in on my Vista system, occassionall I get the lights flashing on my keyboard like someting is resetting the USB every few minutes (unrelated Vista crap?).
    Please help...

You are going to want to get a media card if planning to add music-ringtones-pictures-videos.  Don't want to use up device memory.  It'll go fast.

  • Blackberry Media Sync 3.0 not loading music libary

I have a Storm 9530 running v5.0.0.328 and the Media Sync is long working.  I am running XP and keep getting differnt problems.
    1.  It does not load the music libary.  It just hangs saying "loading music lilbary..."
    2.  I want to use it with Windows Media player but when I select it under options and click ok it goes right back to itunes.  Even with keeping it at iTunes it does not load anything.
    3. Sometimes I get the message "failled to load media".
    4. Sometimes I put it on and it says need to turn on mass storage mode but it's already on.
    5. Sometimes it says it does not reconise my devise at all.
    6. Sometimes when I try to move it from iTunes to Windows Media Player it just frezzes all together and I need to restart it only to get another one of these errors.
The last version of Media Sync has been crashing for a couple months now and not syncing anything.  I was thinking 3.0 would fix it.  Nothing seems to be working.  Please help.

    Hi corbettcj:
It’s difficult to determine exactly what the problem is, but it sounds like some Media Sync data files may have become corrupted.   I’ll give you instructions to clear these files away and hopefully the music libraries will load again.
    -          Open Windows Explorer and go to %appdata%\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Media Sync
    -          Delete all the files / folders here
Try to launch Media Sync again.  Hopefully this will help your music libraries load properly.
Hopefully the errors with device connection don’t happen too often.  Sometimes Windows will fail to recognize the Blackberry and thus Media Sync also can’t see it.  The solution is usually to unplug/replug or restart the computer.
Let us know what happens.  We can offer more trouble shooting steps if this doesn’t work.
    Cheers
