Exchange 2010 error Creating Contact

I get the below error when doing any action in 2010 EMC or via 2010 powershell. I also get it when moving mailbox from 2007 to Office 365. My setup is Exchange 2007 with an Exchange 2010 SP3 Hybrid server with HUB and CAS roles installed. I can create
this object in 2007 EMC or in ADUC.

Hi,
First, please make sure the account have these required permissions: Organization Management and Recipient Management.
Please check on your account in AD under advanced settings if the checkbox "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" is checked as this can cause problems when you perform Exchange tasks.
Have you tried to execute the Setup /PrepareAD command to check the result? This command will run the Forest Prep and Domain Prep for Exchange Environment and will re-add all the permissions to the Forest and Domain.
If no, it's worth to try it.
If the issue persists, to narrow down the issue, I need to clarify one thing.
Did you install Exchange 2010 using the split permissions model?
For the split permissions model, please refer to:

Hope this helps.

i will be thankful for any assistant.
PF DB is arounf 90 GB with alot of public folders and sub-folders. around 60 mail PF and too many subfolders.

First and the most important thing you need to do is, upgrade exchange 2010 to SP2 and RU5.
Exchange 2010 RTM support is long gone.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Create Dynamic DL for Direct Reports

I am not sure this is possible but if there is a will there is a way I guess.
    System: Exchange 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 R2
I am trying to see if there is a way to create dynamic DLs for Manager(s) direct reports.
Example: Manager has 5 people that report directly to them, is there a way to make an dynamic email distribution list that will poll the direct reports as people leave or hired.
I know I can create one manually but some depts. may have high turnover rates which increase overhead so I am just trying to simplify the process. I of course googled my question but not getting the results I intended.
    Thanks.

    hi,
as from above  i understand you are asking about creating an custom attribute and then referencing them .. if yes please check below command
Get-Mailbox -OrganizationalUnit Sales | Set-Mailbox CustomAttribute1 "SalesOU"Now you can create an e-mail address policy for all recipients that have the CustomAttribute1 property that equals SalesOU, as shown in this example.
    New-EmailAddressPolicy -Name "Sales" -RecipientFilter { CustomAttribute1 -eq "SalesOU"} -EnabledEmailAddressTemplates "SMTP:%s%[email protected] check this.. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee423541%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
MARK AS USEFUL/ANSWER IF IT DID
    Thanks

  • Installing SP3 on Exchange 2010 - Error

    Hi,
I'm getting an error message when trying to install SP3 on Exchange 2010.
I am currently running: Exchange 2010 SP1 - Windows Server 2008 Ent.  2 nodes, DAG
"The server side error is: 0x21a2 The FSMO role ownership could not be verified because its directory partition has not replicated successfully with at least one replication partner."
So I ran dcdiag, and sure enough I get a replication error, several of them actually:
"The failure occurred at 2014-02-11 13:54:23.
The last success occurred at 2013-05-30 00:51:00.
32 failures have occurred since the last success.
[Replications Check,EXCHANGE2010] A recent replication attempt failed:
                From EXCHANGE2010-2 to EXCHANGE2010
                Naming Context: CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=mydomainname,DC=lcl
The replication generated an error (8614):
The directory service cannot replicate with this server because the time since the last replication with thi
s server has exceeded the tombstone lifetime."
The thing I'm not understanding is this: When I check the EMC looking at the DAG tab, it looks as though everything with the DAG is fine. Also, when I check the Organization Config->Mailbox, both copies of the Database seem to be Healthy.
So, I guess what I'm asking is what can be causing this error message and what steps can I take to try to fix it? I'm not an expert at this, which I guess is clear since I'm posting here!
    Thanks,
    mike

    Thanks DarDevil,
Before you replied I came across an article that suggested I could force a replication.
So I ran the command they listed:  ‘repadmin /syncall /AeD
It seemed to have worked, as I am now able to install SP3, which was the thing I was trying to do all along. I'm testing SP3 on this test system before I install on production.
Any particular reason not to run the force replication command above?  Before running the command, I put in a registry key that would allow it according to another article I read. I have since removed the key.
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters\Allow Replication With Divergent and Corrupt Partner
    Thanks!

  • Exchange 2010 - Error setting a new transport rule for email disclaimer

    Hi
Trying to setup some additional email disclaimer rules on Hub transport under Org Config on exchange 2010. We allready have a few and they work ok, however we are trying to replace this woth some alternate ones and are getting the error
The length of the property is too long. the maximum length is 8192 and the length of the value provided is 8522.
Most of this length comes from the html code we are inserting into the disclaimer. I've reduced it by about as much as i can but it's still too large. Does anybody have any suggestions or know if it;s possible to increase the 8192 sixze limit ?

    Hi Roger,
For AD replication packet the ideal size is 8K. Or the above error may occur due to build/design issues.
You can eliminate this size related issue by splitting the large rule into multiple rules. This size limit is Per Rule and does not add up for all rules.

  • Strange Exchange 2010 error and dismounting

    Hi all
    I have migrate a server from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 Sp3 R6 (In Windows 2008 r2).
Everythings Works fine and i deleted the old Exchange server but now we have a problem.
This problem occours 2 time in 20 day.
The Outlook 2010 ask for credentials and the connetion to Exchange server i lost.
I try to see the log files on Exchange server and i can se the MailboxDB is dismounting and try to Mount but fail.
Soo i need manuelly to restart the services.
On the system event viewer is this error
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 5000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
But this error can mean many Things so i took at look on Exchange HighAvaailAbility and can see 2 warning and 2 error befor the Outlook ask for password and lost connection.
    The warning is:
    1.
Forcefully dismounting all the locally mounted databases on server 'GRANEXCH10.domain.dk' (Reason: TransientFailoverSuppression).
    2.
There seems to be a database operation which is already in progress. Mount operation will be delayed until the previous operation is complete (databaseGuid='f28e179c-8cd1-4495-b569-936b58000162', error='MapiExceptionDismountInProgress: Unable to mount database.

    The error shows this:

    I tried running /PrepareDomain

  • Outlook 2013, Exchange 2010 error with Rules and Alerts

    Hello,
I was recently informed by a user that when they open Outlook 2013 and click Manage Rules and Alerts, they get the following message:
By the way, NO Microsoft, this information is not helpful.  Anyways, I found that the same problem is happening in my Outlook as well.  I do not believe it is happening to all users' accounts, and I am able to set up Rules within Outlook Web Access,
so it seems to be some local setting.  I found a lot of forums suggest running the Outlook /cleanrules switch, and this did not fix the problem.  Other suggestions are to delete the profile on the computer and/or uninstall outlook and reinstall it.
I don't like these solutions, as they don't point to the true source of the problem and do nothing to help avoid this problem in the future.  Has anybody else had this problem and been able to fix it?  We are running Exchange 2010 in our environment,
although not sure if that makes a difference or not.  Any answers that do not suggest the things I have already mentioned would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
For this issue, I recommend you ask in Office forum which is staffed by more experts specializing in this kind of problems. You might get better help there.

  • Exchange 2010 cannot create mailbox

    Hi
I cannot create a mailbox on the exchange, I am getting an error: 'You must provide a value for this property'..

Hi Guy's, that for the replies so far...
let me fill in a few gaps.
    We had a server crash on a old exchange server(Exch 2010 sp1)
We created a new server and imported all the mail to the new server.
There now was still some reverences to the old server. It was removed from adsiedit but it is still stuck in some places and i think that is what is causing the issue. The old server does not exist anymore so could not uninstall.
i Have restarted the Exchange server so all services has been restarted.
    Error in the application log:
Cannot find route to Mailbox Server CN=SVVCAB029\0ADEL:a4b9500f-d0f8-4101-8ea8-001c74078ad5,CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN=Dac Systems,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=dac,DC=local

07:12:25 AM. Recipients will not be routed to this store.
When we try and create a new user we get the error above. i Do specify the mailbox db to use as you can still see the old on in there but no luck...

  • Cannot create to distribution group for a tenant on hosted exchange 2010

    hi everyone,
I have installed a hosting exchange 2010 than created a tenant1 and users in this tenant1.

    please help me,

    Hi,
In order to narrow down the cause, I’d like to recommend you can try the following troubledhooting:
    1.  Check if the distribution group exists in ADUC on your DC server. And you can refer to the following path:
    DC>ADUC>Domain.com>users
    2. Create another distribution group to have a test.
I refer to the following article to create a new distribution group, and it works well:

  • Exchange 2013 - can no longer move mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Ex 2013.

Migrating to Exchange 2013 from Exchange 2010. Created Ex 2013, moved some mailboxes OK. Then could no longer move mailboxes. No errors. The Migration email says complete. Synced: none, Total Mailboxes: none.
    Tried several mailboxes. Same result.
Ex 2010 is SP3 RU6, (at least it says RU6 is installed in Programs/Features. The build is for SP3 w/o RU6???)
    Ex 2013 is SP1 aka CU4.
    How to proceed???
    john11

After many attempts to fix the issue (move remaining 4 mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013) I contacted Microsoft and we resolved the issue. Here's how.
btw - Thanks for the suggestions from Ed. However, they did not seem to move us forward.
    What did work:
    1. On the Exchange 2010 box, create a new database. (Someone else suggested this also). Then move the remaining Exchange 2010 mailboxes to this new db. Then after that, move the 4 mailboxes to Exchange 2013 using the GUI on Ex 2013. This only worked for one
of the four mailboxes. The other 3 failed.
    2. Apparently, we need to restart the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service on the Exchange 2013 after several failed move attempts to clear cache related to the moves.
    3. Then on the Exchange 2013 box, use this Exchange shell command:
New-MoveRequest -identity "[email protected]" -TargetDatabase "Exchange 2013 DB name" -BadItemLimit '500' -verbose
This moved the remaining 3 mailboxes including the Discovery mailbox. It took some time. But we could check the progress using
    Get-MoveRequest
The MS Tech was terrific. Really knew his stuff. And all mailboxes are on Exchange 2013. Well, the last one is still moving, but I am optimistic.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had to get this done and the MS Tech made that happen.

  • Primary mailbox (on Exchange 2010) and Personal Archive (on Exchange 2013), possible?

Current environment is Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5 supporting 4,000 Users. Client estate is Outlook 2010 SP1 going on SP2.
We're pulling our Archiving solution away from 3rd party and back into Exchange. Implementing a new set of Exchange 2010 Servers (old DAG or in a new Archive DAG) would be easy. But is there Exchange 2013 stepping stone potential?
Can the Archive DAG / Archive mailboxes be on 2013? i.e. for any given User, leave their primary mailbox on Exchange 2010 and create new Archive mailbox on 2013.
I want to avoid implementing 2010 Archive Servers and then go 2013 Archive 6 months or a year later.
    This article suggests 'no':
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dd979800(v=exchg.150).aspx
"Locating a user’s mailbox and archive on different versions of Exchange Server is not supported."
I've found little info but the odd statement here / there.
Is this the latest position? Is it that cut & dry? Anyone tried it? Why won't it work (or will it but it's not supported)?
    Thanks!

    <I had a response from MS>
Below is a summary of the case for your records:
    Symptom:
    =============
Is it possible to implement a 2013 environment to host the Archive mailboxes? i.e. for any given User, their primary mailbox is on Exchange 2010 and their Archive
    mailbox is on 2013.
    Resolution:
    =============
It’s not supported to have a user’s primary mailbox reside on an older Exchange version than the user’s archive. If the user’s primary mailbox is still on Exchange
2010, you must move it to Exchange 2013 before or at the same time when you move the archive to Exchange 2013.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj651146(v=exchg.150).aspx
as per the repro in our lab, having the archive mailbox in higher version of exchange would fail with the error above
<the scenario isn't completely relevant, looks like he's trying to put the Primary on 2013 and not the Archive, no matter, we've established there are problems, question is whether they are looking into this area / to patch, they go on...>
At this point in time we don’t have a conformation from the product team, if the above would change in the future exchange versions.
<MS did say on the call that they were not looking at fixing it, naturally this isn't a "never", as per previous statement - they can't commit 100% to the future, but they've provided me the answer - they are not currently looking at resolving/providing
this as a migration scenario, end.>

  • Exchange 2010 webmail - contact search returns an error when single letter is used

Exchange 2010 SP2 environment. In Webmail when a user creates a new message, pressing on the To: button to add recipients, if they search the GAL, a single letter search (A for example) returns all names starting with A.
If they try to perform the same search for their contacts they get: No results found in IE or the error below in Firefox and Chrome. If I search contacts with two letters "Ab" for example then no error occurs and I get results. So search doesn't work
the same way for contacs vs GAL. Is this normal for webmail 2010?

    Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa.Premium.ContactVirtualListViewEventHandler.LoadFresh()

I doesn't happen on mine, but I'm now on SP3. It might help if you upgrade - even if you don't want to go to SP3 yet, your OWA version appears not to be at rollup 2 level. I only mention this because if it is a problem specific to version 14.2.247.5 (which
could easily be the case, because MS change the OWA scripts with surprising frequency) , it's going to be hard finding people who can reproduce the problem.
But to answer the question in the last sentence, searching the GAL and searching Contacts is, in a technical sense, very different. The GAL search is done with an LDAP query against Active Directory, whereas Contacts are usually going to be mailbox items,
plus a few AD contact items.

In a mixed client environment, mostly Outlook 2010 & 2013 clients. Only Outlook 2013 clients (about only 4 mailboxes) are receiving this error immediately after sending an email. My temp band-aid at the
moment is to: from the client, go into the "address book" & select a different address book like "Contacts" & then select the address again & select the Global Address List, which is the default. (it will have the users email
+ at the beginning of the field, it reads, Global Address List - (email of the user), then I close Outlook & open it back up, & the problem is solved. But on some mailboxes, not all, the issue comes back. From my research, I know that our individual
mailboxes do not send out over 500 emails in one day. Most users will send out maybe 20 or 30 in one day, so I don't think it's that.
But I'm not sure if this is related, but I have noticed that the log files for the Exchange 2010 seems to only hold logs with date stamps of only a couple of days. It used to hold log files indefinitely until they were archived, deleted, etc. So, this is
a new, unusual issue I have seen as well.
We have 2 .edb's, one active: 78 GB's and one disabled at 7 GB's. Exchange 2010 is running on Windows Server 2008 r2, Enterprise Ed. We have had Exchange 2010 running now for about almost 2 years now and this is the first time this particular issue has come
    up.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can refer to the following steps to rebuild an Offline Address Book.
    1. Open EMS. Update OAB using the Update-OfflineAddressbook "offline address book" cmdlet. Restart Background Intelligent Transfer Service on the Mailbox server.
    2. Initiate OAB replication from mail box server to CAS server. Execute for each CAS server using the Update-FileDistributionService "CASServerName" cmdlet.
    3. Start Outlook and download OAB.
