Frame rate control

Hi
This is want I want to achieve:
(1) capture video from web cam
(2) process video in higest resolution and frame rate (eg motion detection)
(3) transmit video on RTP on low resolution and frame rate
High quality is required for (2) to improve detection, but low quality for (3) because it's only used for preview.
What's the best way to achieve this? I current have steps (1) - (3) working on 1 framerate and 1 resolution. How do I perform framerate/resolution conversion before sending it out on RTP?
Do I need to create a second processor?
Keith

To set the frame rate on your realized processor do this:
Object frameRate = VideoProcessor.getControl("javax.media.control.FrameRateControl");
          if(frameRate != null)
               FrameRateControl frc = (FrameRateControl) frameRate;
               frc.setFrameRate(10);
          }

  • Where is the frame rate setting control when making a slide show?

    I am trying to make a slide show using QuickTime Pro and cannot find the frame rate control.I put all my consectively-numbered jpegs in one folder. I then clicked on "File," the "Open Image Sequence," then a window opened up and I click on the first jpeg in the series of photos I want in my slide show. Then the first image appears in the QT Window. The instructions next say that I should be able to change the rate at which each slide/jpeg appears, but it doesn't tell you where to find the "frame rate" so I can change it. It doesn't appear at all on its own, so where is it? Anything else I'm missing? Thank you.

    What version of Photoshop Elements and or Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system?
    In addition, could you please clarify?
    It sounds like you are creating your slideshow in the Elements Organizer. Where are you seeing these distortions and blurs, in the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor Filmstrip or in the Premiere Elements workspace after you have transferred the slideshow from the Elements Organizer 9 Slideshow Editor to Premiere Elements workspace?
    What are the pixel dimensions of the photos in this slideshow and how many of these photos are in the slideshow? What format are they in..jpg, psd, other?
    With regard to what you wrote:
    Also how do I transport them from Elements to Premier, it has a tab to do that but when I get to the elements file I don't know where to drag and drop into.
    If you are in the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor and use the Output option Edit with Premiere Elements, then you would expect the automatic transfer of the slideshow to Premiere Elements, with a copy in video format (.psess) in the project media as well as on the Timeline. Nothing for you to drag and drop.
    For all those reasons, I am asking for clarification.
    Thanks.

  • Could anyone help me out here regarding frame rate?

    Hi, everyone,I need help with a dynamic frame rate issue,
    I have created this spinning diamond flash with a dynamic frame rate controlled by the mouse cursor.
    it spins from the right to the left if the cursor is at the left side of the diamond and vice verse, and also the further away the cursor is from the middle of the diamond, the faster it spins.
    it works perfectly awesome in Firefox and by itself, but when it's in IE, the cursor loses control of frame rate, so it spins at the highest frame rate regardless where the cursor is at.
    I used nextFrame(), prevFrame() to do the winding and rewinding job, and frame rate gets changed in ENTER_FRAME.
    I've heard some say that IE ignores frame rate per frame? is it true? if so, how do I fix it?
    Could anyone please help me out with this issue?it only happens in IE.

    please don't cross-post.  let's keep this discussion on the general flash forum.

  • Can I control the Iris Pro graphics frame rate or other settings?

    I'm having an issue with a game. The game runs fine, but the graphics processing makes the frame rate go up to 100 or more FPS depending on some of the graphics settings. The CPU temperature then quickly climbs to 200 degrees F. I consider this unsafe, and would like to limit the frame rate of the game. However, the in-game option to control the frame rate has no effect. After discussions with the technical support, they suggest I try to set graphics settings outside of the game. (To be fair, the Mac client for the game is in beta, so they've probably not worked out all the compatability issues yet.)
    However, I can find no control panel for the Intel Iris Pro in OSX Mavericks. Is it possible to limit/throttle the graphics from OSX Mavericks, or from terminal commands? The display settings give me resolution, brightness and color, but nothing as advanced as frame rate.
    System:
    15-inch Retina, late 2013
    2 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Intel Iris Pro 1024 MB

    Create a new sequence with the settings you want - File > New > Sequence.
    Take one of your 25fps video files and edit (or drag) it to the timeline of that just created sequence. You should be prompted to match the sequence settings to the source clip. Say yes. You can now click on the clip sitting on the timeline that you used to set the sequence settings. This will select it and then you can delete it by using the backspace key.
    You should now have an empty sequence with the settings you want.
    Return to your original sequence with the wrong frame rate, and click anywhere on the timeline. Type Command + A to select all the clips on you timeline, and then Command + C to copy them.
    Switch to your new (empty) sequence and click anywhere in it. Type Command + V to paste your clips. You should now have your edited clips on the a sequence with the settings you want.

  • Controlling Speed and other Frame Rate Questions!

    Hello After Effects Community!
    I have a few questions about a specific video situation I'm working with.
    I have footage in 720p at 60FPS. I want to slow down sections of the video by easing into slow motion. What FPS should my comp be? should I make the comp 29.97 or 24 and then bring in the 60 fps footage and time remap it?
    Basically I want to have it ply at normal speed and slow down a specific part and then have it speed up again. Help!

    Your composition settings should be decided based on how the final product is being presented.  If you're displaying in a cinema, you'll probably want 24fps.  If you're playing on a TV, or via DVD or BluRay, or on YouTube, you'll probably want to use the standard frame rate for the country you live in - 29.97 in the US, Japan etc.  25fps in Europe, Australia, New Zealand etc.   If you're doing some kind of high-end output, you may have the facility to use a high frame rate, but I suspect you'd already know about that if it were the case.
    Interpret the footage in AE at its correct frame rate (60fps in your case), then use Time Remapping to adjust the playback speed.

  • How can I change to a higher frame rate than 12 FPS?

    Just got a good deal on a 15 in MACBOOK Pro running Yosemite with the latest Quicktime and iMovie. Is the best frame rate I can get out of this HD camera 12fps? I can't find anywhere to change it in QT or in IMovie.

    studiojl wrote:...So as I understand it the camera will decide on FPS based off available light? ...
    So you seem to correctly understand the information in the linked Use More Light! article.
    studiojl wrote:... I don't like that at all...
    Your emotion is irrelevant.  It simply works the way Apple software is written.  Perhaps some other computer system works different from Mac OS X and Apple camera apps?
    If you intend to keep using Mac, you can take manual control of some camera parameters by using a third party add-on app such as iGlasses, Webcam Settings, or Sight Control.
    studiojl wrote: ... what frame rate does it pick if I import one 30 FPS clip and one 60 FPS clip?
    Whatever frame rate is set by the program of the software application you are using to record those clips.
    You can determine that frame rate by making short test videos and watching it in QT Player.
    The QT "Inspector" window will show you the frame rate for the clip.

  • Help with sequence settings in final cut for project with 2 different frame rates.

    I really need help with this one! I finished editing a wedding video and realized after exporting that it was filmed in two different frame rates. This has happened before but I converted the footage to match and fixed the problem. In this case, the footage is part 30fps and part 60fps. The majority of it was filmed in 30fps. I cannot convert the 60 to 30 without the slow motion effect which I do not need so I have to find a way to burn this to a DVD without it looking messed up! The video was shot with two Canon 7ds if that helps anything. The first sequence I set at 29.97 and exported as a quicktime movie and all the footage filmed in 60 looked perfect and the footage in 30 looked jittery. Then I tried the sequence at 59.97 and it switched. The footage filmed at 30 looked good and the 60 was cropped in. I am so confused! Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks for your help Michael! The frame rates are 29.97 1920 x 1080 and 59.94 1280 x 720. I did a control click on the clips in final cut and viewed the item properties/format to find this info. The Canon 7d is a DSLR but we use it for video. As for my workflow, the first thing I do is import the footage onto my computer and then drag the clips into mpeg streamclip. I choose apple prores 422 and uncheck the interlaced box. Once this is done I import the .mov files into final cut. The sequence automatically sets itself to whatever clip I drag in first so it originally set as 29.97. When I finished editing wedding video, I export it to a quicktime movie and choose whatever settings match the sequence, in this case apple prores 422 1920 x 1080 30p. Once that is done I use iDVD to burn the discs.
    I knew something was wrong when I watched the quicktime movie and all the 30fps footage was jittery and most of the cross dissolves looked strange. That's when I figured out the footage was at two different frame rates. What I don't understand is why whatever the sequence is set at in final cut, the clips of the opposite frame rate look right but the clips set at the matching frame rate don't???

  • Slideshow in QT 7.1.3 in Windows: Frame Rate Fixed at 29.97

    I have my sequentially numbered JPGS, Open Slide Show in File menu, highlight the first JPG, but then the Frame Rate is fixed at 29.97, no opportunity to set to 3 seconds per frame or 10 seconds a frame or anything except 29.97 per second.
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program: no change. The program was downloaded recently from Apple and says that it is validating the install when the installer is run. Antivirus is switched off when the program is installed.

    I thought this Windows version bug had been "squashed" in 7.0.4. Maybe not.
    You should get two dialog windows when choosing "Image Sequence". If your files are properly sized and named sequentially you highlight just the first image file in the list and click OK. A second dialog window should then open that offers a "frame rate" for your import.
    You say that it refuses to allow you to edit the frame rate at import? Bummer. A bug.
    A simple workaround would be to accept any frame rate it offers and then open this new file. Select all (Control-A) and Copy (Control-C). This places your image sequence in your Clipboard.
    Open any audio file and trim, or add to it, to fit the duration you need for your image sequence:
    30 images at a duration of 3 seconds each would be 90 seconds of audio.
    Select all of this newly trimmed audio and choose "Add to Selection & Scale" from the Edit menu. This will add your video track to the duration of the audio track.
    Open the Movie Properties window and either "Extract" the video track or "Delete" the audio track and then Save As self-contained. mov file.
    Maybe not what you wanted to hear.
    Does the same issue occur under different user accounts? It may be something we could isolate.

  • How can I edit multiple clips with different frame rates on the same timeline

    how can I edit multiple clips with different frame rates on the same timeline

    You do not want to edit material from different frame rates on one timeline. You CAN do this, but it is a very bad idea - and this is why.
    Once you establish the sequence frame rate - lets say it is PAL material at 25fps, any material that you drop into the sequence other than 25 fps will have to be changed to play at 25 fps. If the material you add is NTSC (29.97), FCP will DROP 5 frames per sec to bring the frame rate down to 25 fps. Which 5 get thrown away? Every 6th one. This yields a funky cadence that becomes even more complex as as there are also interlaced fields (DV/NTSC is an interlaced format). Oh, and by the way, the image sizes are different as well. DV/PAL has 576 lines of resolution and DV/NTSC has 480. FCP has to scale up the NTSC to fit the PAL frame.
    You do not want FCP adjusting these things on the fly. You want to do a thoughtful (and time consuming) conversion so that you end up with all your material in one format with the best possible image from the conversion process. Compressor can do an adequate job with Frame Controls turned on. The Natress Standards Conversion FCP plugin is another way to go. A third option is to find a post house that can do the conversion for you using a hardware based process.
    The good news is, once everything is in the same format, editing it will be painless and the output process very quick.
    Whatever frame rate/ image size you select, I'd suggest using ProRes for the codec. It is 4:2:2 color and will withstand color correction and composting with much more grace than any variant of DV based codecs.
    Have fun.

  • How can I use two sequences w/ different frame rates

    I shot wedding (on Sony Z5) initially (1st tape) in DV widescreen (29.97/ 30 fps) but tapes 2, 3 & 4 were shot 1080p24 fps  Big mistake; now obvious.
    Edited all in FCP 6. On trying to cut & paste sequences together I get " cannot nest sequences with different editing timebases".
    I have 23 min.intro/ ceremony sequence as stand alone QT mov now. How can I best convert that and/or merge it w/ the rest ( 62 min. 24 fps  sequences), or perform other action to unite the diff  frame rates into one, w/ best looking quality for the DVD/ bride & groom? Trying to beat Xmas deadline...
    Thanks in advance! Happy Holidays to all.
    3 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo / 8 GB / OS 10.6.8  FCP 6.0.6

    I went back and forth on this.
    Ordinarily, I'd conform to the format that the majority of the footage was shot in. But if you're going to DVD, and it's going to be compressed to 480 anyway, then why not down convert the 1080 footage to 480?.  At the same time, I would imagine re-timing the 24 (23.98?) to 29.97 would look reasonably consistent with the 29.97 SD.
    This could be done in FCP, but I think Compressor will produce a better result. The adjustments you need are in the Settings menu in the Encoder (with Audio set to pass through), Geometry (720x480 16:9 Anamorphic), and Frame Controls (Resize Filter set to Best).
    This will not be a short encode, so I would first test a short section to double check your settings and sound sync are right, and to compare against the quality of tape 1.
    Good luck.

  • Photon Focus MV-D1024E-160-CL-12 Camera frame rate problem.

    Hi,
    I have a photon Focus MV-D1024E-160-CL-12 camera connected with a PCI2-1429 board. I trigger my camera externally using a NI-DAQ and an I/O board to the camera. I am having a problem with the frame rate of my camera. In the manual it says that the camera can operate at 150 fps. When I am triggering at 10Hz the camera works fine. But when I trigger it at 100 Hz the camera does not give me the required fps. I am imaging an analog clock to measure the fps. When I am triggering at 100 Hz I should get just 1sec in images but instead I am getting images of 3sec. I am using the NI-IMAQ sequence example for it. Is it a software problem (e.g. buffer allocation etc) or a hardware limitation.

    Hello Farhan,
    You can use the Calculate FPS VI here to display the number of frames/second for your camera.

  • Setting video frame rate

    Hi,
    Are there someone had been able to control frame rate of video chating with actionscript or somthing else?
    I have no preference which would be to set it in static or dynamic.
    Thank you
    Ono Keiji

    you can use your camera and microphone when connected to Stratus.  however, you can only publish your camera/microphone for direct connections (new NetStream(nc, NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS)), and subscribers must use the direct connect API to get the stream from you (new NetStream(nc, <your-peer-id>)).  in this mode, your video/audio stream never goes to the server, but travels directly from you (the publisher) to the subscribers.  that's the *only* mode that Stratus supports.
    because your stream may be received by multiple peers, you must choose a bandwidth (and other encoding parameters) that is likely to fit through the path(s) between the publisher and subscriber(s).  if the encoding parameters you've chosen exceed the bandwidth between publisher and subscriber, eventually frames will be dropped.  also in bandwidth exhaustion situations, because audio is higher priority than video, you may see audio and video go out of sync at the publisher.
    if you set a fixed frame rate and a bandwidth cap, then the encoder will vary the quality to fit within the parameters you've fixed.

  • Wav sound and frame rate problem

    I have a wav file sound that I'm using within a movie clip in
    the movie clip's timeline. When I test the movie from within Flash
    (command-return), everything works great. When I publish and view
    online, here's what happens.
    If I click a button to move to another frame in the movie
    while the sound is playing, the frame rate speeds up and the movie
    gets a "fast forward" look to it until the sound ends. If I click a
    button when the sound is not playing, everything is fine. Am I
    missing something in the publish settings? Do I need to stop the
    sound in AS3 on the CLICK events (and if so, how)?
    Thanks,

    You will have to use Compressor...and the Advanced Conversion settings...DVCPRO HD 720p24. But you will also need to go into the FRAME controls in the INSPECTOR and make sure that you make it progressive and that you changes all the settings to better or best. This means that it will take a while, but it will look better.

  • Frame rate = One picture in 5 seconds?

    Hi, I am capturing video from a web cam in rgb. I want to send only one picture in five seconds across the network (Frame Rate = 0,2). This does not seem to work. My code:
              Object frameRate = processor.getControl("javax.media.control.FrameRateControl");
              if(frameRate != null)
    Logger.getInstanceOf().writeLog(Constants.LOG_INFO, this.getClass(), "createProcessor()", "Current frame rate is: " + String.valueOf(((FrameRateControl) frameRate).getFrameRate()) + " frames per second ...");
              FrameRateControl frc = (FrameRateControl) frameRate;
              frc.setFrameRate(0.2f);
    Logger.getInstanceOf().writeLog(Constants.LOG_INFO, this.getClass(), "createProcessor()", "New frame rate is: " + String.valueOf(((FrameRateControl) frameRate).getFrameRate())+ " frames per second ...");
    It seems as if I can only reduce the Frame Rate to 5. I am using a H263 video format. Does anybody know how to further reduce the frame rate?
    Regards, Nik

    Hi, I found the answer myself.
    When you capture with RGB in Frame Rate 15 and 320x240 Dimensions and you want to transmit using H263, you can only reduce the Frame Rate to 5 FPS. I do this using the code above on a realized player. When you want to further reduce the frame rate you need to create a second processor taking the H263 Stream with 5 FPS as input. Using the code above on the second realized processor enables you to further reduce the Frame Rate.
    This worked for me.
    I also used the following code WITH NO SUCCESS:
         Format checkForVideoSizes(Format original, Format supported) {
              int width, height;
              Dimension size = ((VideoFormat) original).getSize();
              Format jpegFmt = new Format(VideoFormat.JPEG_RTP);
              Format h263Fmt = new Format(VideoFormat.H263_RTP);
              return (new VideoFormat(VideoFormat.H263_RTP, new Dimension(width, height),
                        Format.NOT_SPECIFIED, null, Format.NOT_SPECIFIED))
                        .intersects(supported);
    Anyway ... the problem is solved.
