Full Duplex issues

Hello I am seeing a strange issue.
hope to get a little bit of advice on this.
There are two switches connected WS-C3560-48PS-S on one side and WS-C2960-24PC-S on the other side.
the interface configurations are as follows:

the problem is, the moment i am setting the fa 0/48 on the 3560 switch as a full duplex the interface goes down / down.
the moment i put it back to auto it comes up but the negotiation comes as half duplex and causes duplex mismatch.
Any pointers to fix this ?

Neo Platinum full duplex issue

Due to issues with the nforce boards and World of Warcraft I had to change my duplex setting from Autonegotition to Force Full Duplex 100mbit. The problem I found is that with this setting I can only get 300kbit download rates at best. If I go set the duplex to Force Half Duplex 100mbit, I'm back up to my full 4Mbit rate. Has anyone else seen this issue, or know any reason it should do this? Is there a problem for me to run at half duplex? I'm using a cable modem and comcast as my provider.

I used to use the 1.9 bios, as I remembered, the Full Logo screen could be disabled or enabled in the bios. If it couldn't, Then I suggest you clear cmos and load defaults to have another try. Or just directly upgrade the bios to the latest version.

Mac Pro 10.6.5 100baseTX Full Duplex Not Working

Hi Guys,
I am having some trouble with the Mac Pros that I support in my office (Early 2009 Model). Our network uses 100baseTX Full Duplex on all of our connections in a mixed PC/Mac environment. This was working perfectly fine until we updated our Mac Pros to 10.6.5 (Went straight from 10.5.6 to 10.6.5).
Every Mac Pro now has itself set to automatically detect the speed, and they keep setting themselves to 100/Half. If I go in and manually adjust it, setting it to 100/Full, I lose all connectivity to the ethernet (it doesn't even recognize that a cable is plugged in). This is causing a lot of troubles for our Mac users trying to access files on our shared drives. It is taking them about 5 minutes to download a 30MB file, rather than the 3 seconds it should.
I tried booting to our portable 10.5.6 drive and 100/Full works just fine. Our PowerMacs on 10.4.11 also work fine on 100/full. I tried using Cocktail and Sudo to force the change, but again the ethernet drops out. The problem persists through all user accounts on all the effected Macs. I have tried a fresh install of 10.6 and the problem persists. If I downgrade back to 10.5 the problem is gone. I know it is not an issue with the network because 2000 other machines are working just fine, and the affected ones work fine when downgraded.
I just spent a good hour on the phone with AppleCare, but after insisting it was a problem with our network for the first 45 minutes, they came to the conclusion that they simply could not help me. According to them, if I want networking help, I need to convince my company to spend $2,800 on their enterprise support, and even then they don't know if they will be able to help me. So, it looks like I am on my own here.
Anyone have any thoughts on what is going on or how to fix it?

10.6 update disables full duplex ethernet

Updated to 10.6 and immediately lost all internet connectivity. Network control panel reported "Cable Unplugged."
Restarted in 10.5.8 -- 100Mb connection worked fine.
Restarted again and back in 10.6, I fiddled with settings and found that by manually switching to "half-duplex" ethernet (under the "advanced" tab) internet connectivity returned. (Connectivity also resumes if I choose the "automatic" configuration, because that too switches over to half-duplex). Either way, the working connection seems a noticeably slower than 10.5.8, which I assume is the difference between half and full duplex.
Any ideas on how to restore the connection to full duplex?

It is looking more and more like a driver issue with the Intel Pro 1000 card that came with the Mac Pro. I've found people with similar loss of full duplex with this card (sometimes unrelated to Snow Leopard).
Intel no longer supports the card or driver apparently, having sold that operation to www.small-tree.com. SmallTree's Web site states that a problem exists with the driver and Snow Leopard and offers a possible work-around at http://www.small-tree.com/gigabit-ethernet-driver-download-a/198.htm.
(The driver must be installed with the current ethernet card removed. Unfortunately, every how-to guide I've seen assumes you're replacing the easy-to-access PCI cards, but the preinstalled Mac Pro card appears to be hidden back behind the main fan and I don't see an easy way to get to it.
Am I missing something obvious?)

Network board 10/100 full duplex

I have an issue with my system (solaris 8 sparc):
If I download a local file from a distant machine the file is going at about 100Mb. If I try to upload that same file then it is going at 10Mb.
I checked the cables etc but could not find anything.

With those parameters set, my bandwith is just worse so I came back to the previous configuration.
I tried hmeconfig (found on the web, a small perl script to display everything) and it showed:

WAN Port Full Duplex

I have connected my UC540 latest software pack to a FIOS Box. i'm only getting half the speed.
Can someone post the steps on CLI to make the WAN interface full duplex please?

It would be `interface FastEthernet0/0` for a UC540 actually.
In any case, I believe they are set to "auto" by default... which should have chosen full duplex.
From his description it sounds more likely that he has a throughput problem than a half-duplex issue.
How fast is your FIOS connection? The UC500's aren't really designed for very high speed WANs.
The other thing to check would be traffic shaping settings, if misconfiged, they could certainly limit your speed.

IPhone Low latency full duplex audio?

Hi, I'm trying to port a small multitracking program from winmobile to iPhone and am having a hard time figuring out what audio stuff to use. Audioqueue seems like it could do the job, but I've read someone state that they couldn't get it to do input and output at the same time. I've also read that Remote IO audio unit is the thing to use for low latency audio, but I can't find any documentation that shows how to use it. I've tried to familiarize myself with using Audio Unit Graphs but the information for iphone seems incomplete. Specifically I can't seem to link how to feed the RemoteIO. Mac OSX has the AudioFile unit, but the iphone doesn't.
Can someone verify which method is best suited for this? And if it is indeed the Remote IO audio unit, a any tips on how to use it would be great.

Inline Duplex issues

Hi all
We are in the middle of a WAAS deployment across our network, we have deployed 7341's at our datacecntres using WCCP and 674, 574 and 274's at our branch sites using Inline.
10 Sites have been completed without issue using all of the above hardware models and connection methods however on our last install we attempted to install a 274 WAVE Inline and a small branch site. The WAVE sit's in between the onsite router which is a Nokia and 3750 Cisco Switch, both the switch port and Inlinegroup have been hard coded to 100/full and I was assured that the Nokia NIC port is also set to 100/full.
The devices have been cabled up in the following way:
Nokia Router to WAVE Inlineport 1/1/wan - Crossover
WAVE Inlineport 1/1/lan to Cisco 3750 Switch - Straight Through
Nokia Router Port - 100/Full
WAVE Inlinegroup - 100/Full
3750 Switch Port - 100/Full
When the WAVE was cabled in we found that we couldn't get a link, both the lan and wan inline links reported as being down. If I set the Inlinegroup to Auto the link then came up but we recieved the following error in the CMS:
eth_not_fduplex TIRWACMER-01 10.160.27.248 Major The interface InlinePort 1/1/wan,configured for auto negotiation,is not in full-duplex mode.
Im thinking there may be a compatability problem between the WAE and Nokia NIC cards? if the switch is plugged directly into the Nokia at 100/Full is is fine with now errors.

Hi Adam,
Few tests you may want to do if you have redundant pair of inline interface. Try using different inline pair on waas to rule out waas inline interface. if the second inline pair on waas also has same issues, means there is some incompatibility between waas and nokia nic.
if the second pari comes up fine, it may be a faulty NIC / inline pair on waas side.
On the other side, if you have a spare interface n Nokia FW, try chaning the interface on Nokia and verify if that works or not.

Full duplex bluetooth with Iphone?

Both my wife and I have a 3G Iphone and our Jabra BT530 headsets seem to not work as full duplex. Is this an issue with Iphone? The Jabra BT530 claims to work in full duplex mode. When I test the system and talk while the other person talks, they can't hear me; it totally cuts out they say. Tried this on two Iphones.

Well, glad to see i am not the only one.
I posted about this issue back in October, and the forum admin removed my post!
I have experimented with this issue many times, and it's always the same result.
If you use your iphone and a BT headset, and the other person is talking, you can't talk over them - because it's only half duplex.
Worse is if you use your iphone with a BT headset and call someone who is driving in their car. The noise from their car occupies the channel, and the only way they can hear you, is if you yell into the headset!
I use my phone for several hours of talktime everyday, and therefore am dependant upon a BT headset (otherwise my arm would fall off).
Because the iphone is essentially un-useable with a headset, I can not use it as a phone!!!
I was praying that Apple would fix the issue with V3.0, but SOL!
I am very surprised that more people do not complain about this. Can we be the only ones to notice the problem? Surely not!

Forced Full Duplex changes to Half Duplex (no mismatch errors)

Guys,
I am going through a very weird situation and wondered if any of you had any ideas on how I could troubleshoot this issue.
I am running a 2960 Cisco, which has a single mode fiber cable which is connected to multiple rstp switches designed by a mining technology company.
The fiber port which connects these switches has "duplex full" written into its configuration. However, after a random amount of time, anywhere from 1 hour to 24 hours, the port is changes to operate in half duplex. This is found by doing a show interfaces status.
At no time whatsoever is there any duplex mismatch errors.
Once i notice that the port is actually operating in half duplex mode, i log into the port, do a "duplex half" then "duplex full".. the port goes back into full duplex for another 1-24 hour period.
Any ideas on why this port keeps jumping into half duplex operation?   I really need this port to run in full duplex and cannot understand why the port would go into half duplex operation when the end devices should support full duplex.
Again, i never get any duplex mismatch errors.
I appreciate any troubleshooting tips you can provide.

Duplex issue

Ok on our Rome switch 10.3.10.3. I have configured the speed for auto and the duplex as full for all interfaces. However when you look at the int status the duplex shows as a-full ? All other switches allow you to mix and match full duplex with auto speed. The only way you can get the switch to show full duplex is to configure the speed as 100. I think it could be an issue with the version of IOS on this switch as it is different to the rest. Actually it is slighty a newer version as wel. l c3550-i9q3l2-mz.121-22.EA1a instead of c3550-i9q3l2-mz.121-11.EA1.
Any ideas?

OK, I got it wrong. Aparently they introduced the possibility of negotiated speed and fixed duplex in this very version. Here is the relevant section of the release notes:

PE4 freezes - "Your card may not support full duplex"

Brand new Dell Studio 17 laptop
Vista Home Premium 32 bit
I open PE4, start a new project, bring in a couple of MP4 files. Then when I try to play it gives me an error message: "Playback failed. The audion system does not seem to respond. Maybe the card does not support full duplex."
PE4 then freezes, and I have to ctrl-alt-delete to close.
Audio works fine everywhere else, until I try to run PE4. Then the card is dead and nothing works.
Any suggestions?

"Tried it with PE3 as well, same thing." Are you saying that you installed PE3 on the Studio 17 and got the same error message when you tried to play MP4 or JPEGS on the Timeline? If so, did you install the Premiere Elements 3.0.2 update for Premiere Elements 3 before you got started? I do not believe that Premiere Elements 3 by itself was ever Vista compatible.

I would like to see the specific online links that Dell T/S cited to Kevin for claiming an Adobe/Vista (non Dell) issue. Would it be a good idea for you and Kevin to compare features (especially video and audio cards as well as drivers) of your Studio 17?
The result of Kevin's contact with Adobe re: this matter, should be interesting, and I am looking forward to their spin. As far as I know there are users out there using Premiere Elements 4 with a Vista Home Premium operating system. Hopefully other forum users here will address that point and correct me if I have misspoke about that.

HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi MFP - Full Duplex Problem

Hello!
I've got LaserJet CM232 and Win7 (x64). My problem is that when I'm printing for example 4 pages of a document it's printing only in full duplex, so 2 pages printed on both sides. I can't find where can I fix this duplex problem, I'd like to choose manually if it will be printing in full duplex or not. Help me find a solution, please.
Second problem refers to the time of printing. When I print something I have to wait several minutes to print it. Is that a RAM problem? More RAM memory will resolve this problem?

B200M3 and Vsphere 5.1 - Unable to set NIC speed to 10gb full duplex

Hi,
My first post here!
I got 4 B200M3 blades with VIC 1240 and 1280. I have installed vSphere 5.1 on them. The blades are configed with a number of NIC's.
The NIC's get a speed of 20gb full duplex(set on auto negotiation) and i would like to set them to 10gb full duplex. When i try to change it in vSphere i get an error message
"Call "HostNetworkSystem.UpdatePhysicalNicLinkSpeed" for object "networkSystem-1264" on vCenter Server "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx" failed.
Operation failed, diagnostics report: Forcing 1000Mbps or faster may not be supported on this network device, please use auto-negotiation instead"
After some searching it looks like you sometimes have to upgrade vSphere with new drivers to get these things to work?
Anyone got any ideas that can help me?

A few quick questions:
1) What is the driver type and the version on the vnics? here is the HCL for the required driver versions:

2) Did you install 5.1 direct or did you upgrade from 5.0? For this blade you need to use the CISCO OEM Custom ESXi image. We still do not have the 5.1 image published, however the 5.0 and 5.0 U1 are avaiable for use. Here is the download location:
