GR quantity more than production order quantity triggering cost difference

Hi Gurus,
We have observed a scenario where the cost(price) dfference account getting hit whenever the GR quantity is greater than the production order total quantity. The dollars posted to this acount are directly propotional to the difference between the GR quantity and the production order quantity.
The total quantity specified in production order is 1 M2U and GR quantity is 1,000 M2U.Material price is $195.65.
Accounting Document;
Inventory account           - 195.65
Offset account                - 200.00
Cost difference account  -    4.35
If we do GR for less than or same quantity as in the production order, this account is not getting triggered.
Any idea what is causing this scenario? I really appreciate if you can share with any SAP note related to this.
Thanks,
Mano.

Hello Gurus,
One  more observation is,
The palnned costs and actual costs are always different when dealing huge quantities. But the cost difference account is only getting triggered if the actual quantity is  more than the palnned quantity.
And,
when the difference between atual quantity and palnned quantity is huge then
Planned costs are booked to the inventory account
Actual costs are booked to the prodcution cost account.
Significant cost variance is booked to the cost variance account.
When the difference between actual quantity is less than/equal to planned quantity is not so huge then
Actual costs are booked to the inventory account
Actual costs are booked to the prodcution cost account.
Is this a standard behaviour?
Thanks,
Mano.

  • Confirmed quantity more than the ordered quantity in sales order.

    Hi All,
We have a situation wherein the confirmed quantity is more than the ordered quantity.
a.) SO was created for qty1.Two schedule lines were proposed as stock was not available.
b.) When stock came in and most probablly, when the rescheduling job calling tcode  V_V2 was run, both the schedule lines were confirmed.
c.) As a result, further processing  is not done by system as confirmed quantity is more than ordered quantity.
Also we noticed that double schedule line was confirmed for a another order even without the rescheduling job is run.
Can you please suggest as to why this is scenario is occuring and how we can avoid the reoccurence? Thanks in advance!!
        Regards,
    Jeevan Penumatsa

    Hi  Jeevan Penumatsa
    Welcome to SDN forum
Generally two schedule lines will take place if stock is not available in your plant or if open orders are there for that material also. So check the stock in MMBE
.If there are any backorders then it might be getting added in the created sales order and then you might be getting in two schedule lines

  • GR quantity less than Production Order quantity

    Hello all
I am working at a client where they produce Make-To-Order items specific to a Sales Order by triggering an Assembly Order (Production Order).
Now I am facing a tricky situation & hence want some advice from you guys.
In a generac scenario when an order comes for a MTO material ABC, a Production Order is triggerred for that item.
I can navigate to this Production Order from the Sales Order > Schedule Line tab (Just FYI)
Now once the Production Order is confirmed for each Operation on the floor using CO11N, the material is receipted in the Inventory & the requirement gets fulfilled.
Now sometimes the Production Order is Goods Receipted for a Lesser quantity as compared to the Production Order Quantity.
e.g. Sales Order Quantity = Production Order Quantity = 3 EA & the Delivered Quantity (GR qty) = 1 EA
In such a case, in MD04 the system still shows an open requirement for 2 EA on the same Production Order Number
Is there a way to trigger another Production Order for the remaining quantity automatically ?
If anyone can share their thoughts proposing possible solutions to handle such a scenario, it would be a great help.
I am an SD consultant & hence cant think ways to handle the scenario & propose it to the Business.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Thanks
    Vin

    Hello
    Thanks for all your replies.
As of now the 1st scenario is no more an issue. The business process is modified to fix the problem.
Now my main problem is the 2nd scenario which I will explain better here.
In our scenario MTO items when placed in a Sales Order triggers a Production Order.
This Production Order needs to be confirmed for each operation & at the final step the MTO item is pushed into the inventory.
The Production BOM & the operation overview for the MTO item is as shown below:
    E.g.
    Operation Overview:
    Operation            Work center                  Control key
      0010                    Prod                               PP01
      0020                    Pack                               PP01
      0070                    Confirm                          PP03
    Routing:
    Item                Material             QTY        Unit            Operation
    0010               ABC                  100         G                0010
    0020               XYZ                  10           G                0020
Now as shown above, the business users who produce the MTO item will confirm operation 10 & consume raw material ABC at the Work Center = Prod.
Then at the Work Center = Pack, the packaging material is used & operation 20 is confirmed.
Finally after the packing is done, at the Work center = Confirm, the operation 70 is confirmed when the MTO item is receipted in the Inventory.
Before it is receipted at the Confirm work center, a user monitors the quality of this produced item. If it is good only then it is receipted in the inventory.
Now depending on when the Sales Order is fulfilled, this MTO item will be shipped.
    Issue:
Now when the MTO item produced passes thru the high level quality check, it gets receipted in the inventory at operation 70.
However in a case where the some or all the qty of the MTO item ordered doesn't pass the quality check, they will be scrapped physically.
Thus my understanding is that e.g. 3 qty of the MTO was ordered & 1 got rejected, then the user confirming the step 70 will enter YIELD = 2 ea & Scrap = 1 ea and do the final confirmation.
This means that the original demand of 3 ea is still incomplete. 1 Ea still need to be made as a Sales Order Stock.
Now the function needed is that the system should automatically generate a Production order for the remaining 1 Ea as a Sales Order stock.
I dont know if this can be achieved by receipting the 1 EA as REWORK on the CO11n screen at operation 70.
Also I am not sure if Production Order Split case would work in this case.
I would need some input from all the PP gurus. Any solution which be close to what functionality is needed will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Vin

  • Transfer order craeted with a quantity -- more than delivery quantity

Transfer order created with a quantity  more than the delivery quantity. I have tested in several ways but didn't get the root cause for it.
Any possible ways available to create a TO like this????????

    Hi Aktar,
You have not mentioned the type of TO. Where did you get this scenario. was TO created Manually or Automatically? please confirm.
Anyway incase of manual creation of TO, User keyin quantity enters morethan delivery quantity, then there is a chance of excess picking compared to delivery quantity. but this is only possible if the sufficient SKUs are available at this time.
    please let me know.....

  • Invoce is allowed more than purchase order

    Dear Experts,
In my case,  in few scnarios we are creating the purchase order but not creating the GR. We are doing MIRO directly with reference  to purchase order. In tihs scenario, if PO quanity is 100, sap allows me to post the invoice with quanity 101 or 200, how can I restrict the same, so that quanity should never be more than purchase order quantity.
    Thanks
    Shailesh

    Hi,
As you are doing MIRO wrt PO without GR, then
Use T.code: OMRM & Maintain the message M8 -087 - Invoice quantity greater than PO quantity ( item without GR) as error"E" and save.
    Also set message M8 -087  as error"E" in OBMSG t.code & save.
    Now try ur transaction.

  • Withdrawal quantity more than Committed Quantity

    Hi Gurus,
I am facing 1 problem with Withdrawal quantity for 1 component for  Production order.
    I have a Production Order of 430 Quantity .
When I check components , it is showing Committed Quantity as 435 while withdrawal Quantity as 439.
    We have activated backflush.
Can anyone tell me why Withdrawal quantity more than Committed Quantity and order quantity?
    --Denish

    Hi,
Commited quantity is the quantity which, according to the availability check, is available.
Wwithdrawal quantity is the quantity that has already been issued.
Probably, you issued this component more than you planned, however you have done this issue with backflush of production confirmation. Therefore, issue is still on planned issue and withdrawal quantity exceeds your planned quantity, and commited quantity is less than withdrawal quantity.
    Regards.

  • SAP sales return system should not accept quantity more than open quantity

    Dear All
During sales return user is able to enter the quantity more than open quantity and system is allowing for that enter
Plz tell me how to restrict this
    Regards
    Arun

No need of exit for this.
Go to VTAF, select the item category for the combination of order type and billing type and maintain "+" for the field "Pos./neg. quantity"
Also go to OVAH and change message class V4 no 229 to E will work.
Now try to create a return order and increase the quantity.  Sytem will not allow to do so but if you create a new line item, then system will also for which, you can go for exit already suggested.
    thanks

  • 541 quantity more than PO quantity

    Dear Freiends,
For subcontracting PO we can send (541) components more than the quantity maintained in Purchase order. How to restrict this ? We donu2019t want to send material more than Purchase order component quantity.
    Pl send your views
    Regards,
    Poonam

    Analyse your process.
If you dont want to send more than needed for one PO, why do your shipping guys then send more?
Dont you use ME2O as starting point for your supply to the subcontractor.?
The movement to a subcontractor is not PO related, and I doupt that it can be made PO related with the given intruction by kunal ingale, as SAP has stated in an OSS note, that it is not possible  (but try it, I am intrested on your findings).
It makes sense that it is not  PO related. if you are doing ongoing subcontract business, then you probably like to optimize your freight rates, so you may send raw materials  just once a month to your subcontractor, and not always partial truck loads that are more expensive.

  • GR Quantity more than PO Quantity but no differential payament to be made

    Dear Expert,
We are importing Ammonia for consumption in India. In many times actual GR quantity is more than the PO quantity, however only Customs payment are made against the excess qty received, no other payment to be made towards port handling, suppliers, stevedoring charges, port dues etc. So before GR we only do customs invoicing for GR quantity so that it get inventorised. How ever our MM people only doing GR for the PO quantity.
When we asked why they are not doing the GR for actual quantity they replied that value will be posted to various clearing a/c like, port dues clearing, customs clearing, insurance clearing a/c etc, where there is no actual payment to be made.
Please suggest how can we do the actual GR quantity with out hitting the clearing a/c, any solution???
    Regards,
    Alok

    Hi,
First let me ask one thing ,is so they are doing GR first or IR first .
Becoz the Question a Bit confusion.
But if my understanding is right.
You can do the Invoice for the over delivery and also the IR first that to GRN.
so maintain a Overdelivery Percentage in PO and try to Post the MIRO Before GRN.
but in MIRO,you should select the Option of Planned Delivery Costs.
and you have to define different condition type for Different Conditions like Freight ,customs and insurance etc..
Know in the Miro Select only the Custom releated Condition type and uncheck the other.
so that only that GL will come.
    try and let me know
    Hope so it would help

  • Activity is calculated on Production Order Quantity based .

    Hi Experts,
My requirement is Planned Activity cost should be calculated based on Production order Quantity. and not on timing mentioned in Routing.
For Example-   My PO Quantity is 10 - and activity assigned rate is 1 then = 10 RS is my planned activity Price
IF PO quantity is 1  then planned Activity Price is 1 RS
    pour some light on this
    Regards,
    Girish

    Hi
Create an Activity Type and assign in work center / Routing... Keep the Activty Qty same as Base Qty in Routing....
if you create Prod Order for 10, system would automatically propose Qty as 10.... Assign a fully variable formula in the work center to this activity
Then maintain a price for this n KP26
