HR PQAH (Ad hoc query) info-type filtering

Hi,
in our company the users can use/create HR ad hoc queries (tcode PQAH) with which they can display almost all master data employees informations.
Is it possible to use P_ORGIN authorizations in roles in order to filter info-types in ad hoc query ?
We have created a test user only authorized to start PQAH (on S_TCODE & P_TCODE) and he is able to create a PQAH query that can display all HR master data.
We were expecting that P_ORGIN was also checked in PQAH.
Any suggestion ?
Thanks
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
No, not what I said.  Employees with access to PQAH can both construct and run Ad Hoc Queries.  However, if their authorization does not permit display access to an infotype in the query, the query will not run for that individual.  If she has the proper access, then the report will run for those individuals she can view - controlled by P_ORGIN or P_ORGINCON.  If the query is saved, another employee can then run it via PQAH or SQ01.  Again, that employee's access will limit what he can see in the output.
So if a user has access to PQAH, that user can create and run queries, but the security authorization from P_ORGIN will determine the output.  Example:  I create a query that includes ANSAL from IT0008-Basic Pay, but I do not have P_ORGIN access to view IT0008, then the report would error out if I tried to run it.  If I did have authorization to view IT0008, I could execute the report via PQAH and receive the output.  If I save the report and you ran that same report via PQAH, but you have view authorization only for Personnel Area 0001 for IT0008, then your output would only include individuals assigned to PA 0001.
So PQAH can be used by various individuals what controls the output is their authorizations from P_ORGIN or P_ORGINCON and other authorization objects.

  • PQAh ad hoc query

    Hi all,
I need to know is it possible that i can draw Om report from ad hoc query the way we get PA report.
If yes, then how should i get the OM infotypes to appear in SQ01, suery selection?

    Hi,
Adhoc query is made for us for different selection of itesm  i.e...PA,PSA...what ever you want...just like a custom report.

  • Ad hoc query - Infoset, after selection it is giving two different output

    Hi All,
We are facing problem in ad hoc query, after PQAH Ad hoc query, when we go to one infoset, so after making some selection and putting some output field,
When we click on refresh data button(in lower pane) so it gives only one record, which is incorrect, but when we click on u2018Start Outputu2019 button it gives 3 records those are correct.
Can anyone tell me, why this is giving different output.(first time 1 record, and second time 3 records) record 3 output is correct.

    Hi Kumar,
Are you looking at the "Hit List" or the output of the results in the lower pane?  The hit list will only give you the number of persons who will be in your output.  The refresh button should give you a preview of the output.
What persons or fields are different or not shown in the preview area vs. the output?  Also, what are the dates for the data?  Are you looking at current data or looking for history?  The output may be showing you history and the preview only current data.  Most concerns with Ad Hoc Query output are related to dates - for the selection and the output.

  • Custom fields of standard info types to be included in Info set query

    Hi All,
I want to understand if the following scenario is entirely a fucntional config or ABAP efforts are also required.
A standard info type is already included in the Info set. But the (Z fields) in the Additional fields column of the IT are not visible in Info set for the respective  info type.
I understand, with T-code SQ02 infotypes can be included in the existing info set, but not aware about the Z fields of a Standard Infotype.
Hence, please let me know, if there is any config which is required, so that they are reflected in Info set.
    Thank you in Advance.
    Regards
    Simran

Make sure you have the infoset in edit mode.
if it is correct you see the addtional fields in the left half of the screen at the infotype.
Select the field group on the right half of the screen, go to the left half of the screen, select the field you want to add to the fieldgroup with right mouse click and select 'add field to fieldgroup'
    good luck

  • Expand the Ad-Hoc Query

    Dear all,
Can anyone tell me the steps in detail on how to add extra infotypes (which is not in the standard selection area, of course) in the ad-hoc query selection area? In my case, I need to search an employee's personnel number by alternative name in local characters (IT0182) of the employee.
    Thanks,
    Steven

    Hi Steven,
While creating Adhoc query choose Logical databse instead of a database table.
then you get a pop up to select the Infotypes. there you can select the multiple info types.

    Kumar.

  • Advanced Ad-Hoc Query and formulas

    Hi experts,
I need to track new hire HR data on a report but am struggling to do this without some excel style formulas...
Can you use excel style formulas in Ad-hoc query?? E.g. today(). I have run some tests and don't think it is possible...
So if the hire date is less than 2 months old (from a calendar perspecitve) then I would want the new hire to show with only their current employee data (i.e. reporting period of 'today').
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can do it or will this require some ABAP to work properly??
    Thanks!

    Hi,
You can use SQ01, which is actually an enhanced Ad Hoc, but without using ABAP programming.  All Ad Hoc Queries are available via SQ01, but if you make certain entries SQ01 reports are not accessible via PQAH.
For your request to bring in data only on new hires within a certain period, you can first create the output you want in Ad Hoc.  Also add the selection fields for Action Type (enter the type for New Hire) and Start Date of the IT0000.  Save your query.  Now access the report via SQ01 entering the User Group and scrolling down to find your report.  Execute the report (green check with clock).  This will bring up a selection screen with your entries from Ad Hoc.  Select the "Save" button.  This will bring in a screen for you to name the selection varient. Name it "STANDARD".  Below this you will see all the selection fileds available with a number of boxes.  Scroll down to the field for your Start Date and under the "Selection Variable" column select "D-Dynamic date calculation".  Then in the far right column (Name of variable) select "Current date +/- days".   Enter the number of days you want to go back - say "-30" for new hires in the past month.  Then save the variable.
Now when you run the report (via SQ01) you will automatically select those individuals with a start date within the past 30 days.  No programming needed.

  • Outputting System User Name in Ad Hoc Query (S_PH0_48000513)

I am trying to create an HR Ad Hoc Query and one of the fields that I am trying to output is System User Name from infotype 0105 Communications.  If I choose this field and do not choose the Communication Type, I get two records per employee - one record with the System User Name populated and one record with a blank value for System User Name.
If I choose the System User Name field for output and also make a selection on Communication Type (= subtype 0001), employees with no System User Name (i.e. no Infotype 0105, subtype 0001) are eliminated from the report.
I want the report to show all selected employees, including those without a System User Name; however, I do not want the same employee to appear on the report twice.
Has anyone else experience this problem?  If so, have you figured out how to eliminate the extraneous record for each employee when you do not select the Communication Type?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Love to know if you managed to find a solution for this issue as I'm experiencing the same problem.  However I'm reporting on both system user and email address which are distinct fields and would prefer to see this information only on a single line.  With my report I get communication system user on one line and then email address on the another, I'd also like to be able to include those users where the info types have not been maintained.
With the query I have created I also included logon data from the USR02 table.
    Cheers
    Bill

  • Ad Hoc Query Output

When I access Ad Hoc query (S_PH0_48000510) to run an existing report, instead of selecting the output button right away, I click on Hit List, get the number of records, then I click on display (eyeglasses).  The pop-up window shows me 24 records, all of which I am expecting to see as they fall within my selection criteria.  I select them all, then click on the output button.  Only 7 records show upu2026  And, there are no error messages or authorization messages.  I checked the layout and filter, and everything looks correct.  Does anyone have any ideas as to what I'm missing?  There are no calculated fields; this is just a simple query.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Debbie,
One thing we did in all of our custom Infosets was to include the start date and end date of every infotype as well as the date changed and who changed it.  Thus, when we run reports that are date specific we can say that the start date and/or end date must fall within that range and we can also output that info.
I do not know your data or selection criteria, but the problem may lie with data that is no longer current or "top of stack" that excludes hits from being included in the output.  One example is with IT0000-Actions.  You may be seeking those employees who had a Rehire action since January 1st.  But a later transfer or leave of absence action may now be "top of stack" and the current action, thus is no longer "Rehire",  Your output would only be those whose latest action is Rehire and the others with later actions would be left off.  Adding the start and end date fields will sometimes allow the output of the older Rehire record as would deleting the action type in the selection once the Hit List was maintained in the Reporting Set section.  You would now see the Rehire along with the other actions.

  • Ad hoc query report geneartion

    Hi Guys,
I am seeking your help on ad hoc query report generation.
My requirement: There is a customized table maintained to fetch the description and the relevant data.. For ex:
    Type of Vehicle
    Description
    XYZ
    Test description1
    ABC
    Test description 2
The requirement is to fetch the description using ad-hoc query for all the type of vehicles. I have created a type of vehicle field and included in the field group. So far, I am able to get the type of vehicle on my ad-hoc report. But, the description fails to retrieve. Please note I have also created an additional description field on ad-hoc reports to fetch the description.. After the generation of the info set, I am unable to fetch the type of vehicle with the description.
Can anyone please guide the field code that needs to be maintained specially to fetch the contents all together?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I have already mentioned that "Please note I have also created an additional description field on ad-hoc reports to fetch the description."

  • Difference between sap query and sap ad hoc query

    Hello Experts-
Is there any difference between sap query and sap ad hoc query. If yes, I will appreciate if you can provide some input.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    SAP Query
    Purpose
The SAP Query application is used to create reports not already contained in the default. It has been designed for users with little or no knowledge of the SAP programming language ABAP.
SAP Query offers users a broad range of ways to define reports and create different types of reports such as basic lists, statistics, and ranked lists.
    Features
The SAP Query comprises five components: Queries, InfoSet Query, InfoSets, User Groups and Translation/Query.
Classic reporting- the creation of lists, statistics and ranked lists- are covered by the InfoSet Query and Queries components. Other components’ range of functions cover the maintenance of InfoSets, the administration of user groups and also the translation of texts created in the SAP Query.
All data required by a user for a report can be read from various tables.
To define a report, you first have to enter individual texts, such as titles, and select the fields and options which determine the report layout. In the WYSIWYG mode, you can edit the lists using Drag & Drop and various toolbars.
    AD Hoc Query
    Definition
A Web item that enables you to create and change queries in a Web application on an ad-hoc basis.
    Use
You can use the  Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item in the Web Application Designer to structure Web applications in which you create or change queries. The Web item is as a tool for designing ad-hoc queries in a Web environment.
In particular it enables you to:
    ·        Create queries by assigning characteristics from an InfoProvider to rows, columns, filters, and free characteristics, and including key figures from the InfoProvider in the key figure structure of the query.
    ·        Restrict or filter key figures and characteristics
    ·        Use predefined key figure structures and restricted or calculated key figures in the query
    ·        Set or change query properties and key figure/characteristic properties in the query
    ·        Create or change conditions and exceptions
When compared with the BEx Query Designer, the Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item has the following restrictions when creating or changing queries:
    ·        You cannot integrate variables into the query directly.
However, you can use variables in reusable structures, or restricted or calculate key figures, which are used in the Ad-hoc Query Designer
    ·        The query can contain only one structure. This structure has to be the key figure structure and be in the rows or columns of the query.
    -        You cannot use key figures or key figure structures in the filter.
    -        You cannot define exception cells, since this requires two structures.
You cannot create the following objects using the Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item:
    -         Reusable structures
    -         Reusable restricted key figures
    -         Reusable calculated key figures
    -        Local calculated key figures
You can create local, restricted key figures using the Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item.
You can edit existing queries in the Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item, if the queries adhere to the restrictions laid out above The Ad-hoc Query Designer checks these requirements when loading a query. If the query is too complex, the query can be loaded into the Ad-hoc Query Designer but you cannot change it there. You then receive the appropriate message. You can still check and execute the query.
"Ad Hoc" is a Latin phrase which means "for this purpose" and in today's parlance generally means "on the fly," or "spontaneously."
An ad hoc query is a query that is run at the spur of the moment, and generally is never saved to run again. These queries are run using a SQL statement created by a tool or an administrator. So therefore, such a query is one that might suit a situation which is only there for the moment and later on will become irrelevant.
As queries become more complex, it can be difficult to write them correctly ad-hoc. To help with this, one can instead write the knowledge needed for queries as business rules in English, and then use a system called "Internet Business Logic" to automatically generate and run the SQL queries. One can then get explanations of the results, in English, at the business level.

  • How to disable Wizard in Ad-hoc Query Designer

    Hi everybody,
I am using the Bex Ad-hoc Query Designer in a web application. The users should be able to define their own queries, but just for one info provider. I selected the info provider in the properties of the ad-hoc query designer in the web template.
Now the users are able to create queries for all info providers with the wizard.
Is it possible to disable the wizard or to disable all buttons at the top of the ad-hoc query designer.
    Thanks in advance,
    Joerg

This can be done using the security for the Infoprovider,  provide the users access to create queries only for that Infoprovider.

  • Ad hoc Query - Add table to an existing Infoset

    Hi,
I have an Infoset created based on PNP database table. Now I wanted to add certain fields from a table (not from logical database table) to same Infoset. Can I add the table to the existing Infoset? If yes could please guide me how to do it.
From one thread I found out using Extras tab, in change Infoset screen we can add table. But not able to proceed further.
I will be grateful for your help.
    Thank you.
    GRM

    Hi GRM,
As u have mentioned that u have used LDB, PNP. Now ur query is that u want to add a table into the query.
Firstly check in which Infotype that Table and field is being called.
    Then, go to T.Code - SQ02
Select ur query that u have used in that LDB - PNP. Click change.
Then from the Menu bar, Select EDIT & then CHANGE INFO-TYPE SELECTION.
After the above activity, a selection screen will appear. From that Selection screen, select the appropriate Infotype then add it and it'll bring all related Tables used in that Infotype.
Accordingly u may select and deselect as per ur requirement. Generate the Infoset Query once again after coming out of the screen.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to activate Show Set Operations in Ad Hoc query

When I go into ad hoc query using an infoset I created the Extras > Show Set Operations and Switch off object selection functions are greyed out and I cannot select them.  On another infoset these functions are available for selection.
Is there some setting in the info set creation that allows these function to be available for selection?

  • Addition of new fields and sub dields in ad hoc query

    hey all,
hey friends i would like to know how to add additional fields and the sub fields in ad- hoc query.
i had tried sq02 and went on creating new field but it is nt adng there and no options of sub fields are visible.
note: i am entirely new to sap hr.. so plz try and help me out in a laymans language.

At the Date Field, there is 1 node call the Additional fields.
Then Right click the Additional field and choose create >> additional field.
Then enter the field name, description, Data type and length.
After that right click the newly created field name and choose code
    Then enter some simple code.
    E.g.
For IT2006 the table does not provide the quota balance. If order to display the quota balance we can create an additional field call ZBalance. Then at code section enter the code ZBalance = p2006-anzhl - p2006-kverb.
