I cannot get onto the internet

I just installed Tiger on my ibook g3. I only have 10 gigs and tiger uses about 5.5, so i wonder if this might be a problem. When i open safari it starts to load, then freezes up, often needing force-quit. firefox just says it cannot load. I can't register or use messenger either. I have a Shaw Cable internet connection with a motorolla modem.

does your modem have a reset button?? have you tried resetting it?? if you go to the network preferences in system preferences and look under builtin ethernet, and then tcp/ip, do you have an ip address?? if so, what is it?? have you tried unplugging the ethernet cords from both the computer and the modem, as well as the power from the modem and letting them sit for a few minutes? was it working okay before? yes, you do not have very much space. there are usually things that can be sacrificed, like unused applications, printer drivers, etc. [ 8 ) ]

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

On my netbook, I installed Firefox 4.0.1 from the Firefox web page. Now The netbook cannot open Firefox and cannot get onto the internet. System restore doesn't work. What can I do?

At the end of the installation process, I received the message that (some applications?) were not compatible with Firefox and should Firefox search for (some applications?) that would be compatible. I answered no. When the netbook restarted only one of the two user icons was showing. The user icon I use all the time was not showing. I did system restore to try to go back to before I did the installation and I got both icons, but Firefox does not open. Firefox does not open with either icon. I am using my old PC to write this message and I will not install the new version of Firefox on this PC until I can once again get onto the Net with my netbook. I hardly ever use this PC for using the Net.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

Cannot get onto the Internet on wifi

I am connected to my wifi at home and am not able to get onto the network. I am using the cellular connection at the moment.

Hi Jkh12,
On the iPad, turn the WiFi off and back on again. Go to Settings -> WiFi. Turn the switch to Off. Wait a few seconds. Turn it back on. Try connecting to the WiFi network again.
Restart the iPad. Press and hold the Wake/Sleep button until you see the red slider button. Slide to power off. Wait a few seconds. Press and release the Wake/Sleep button to power it back on again. Once it powers back up, try connecting to WiFi again.
Try reseting the iPad (different from restarting). Hold down on both the Sleep andHome buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds (ignore the red slider button). Keep holding both buttons until the Apple Logo appears. When you see the Apple logo on the black screen, let go of both buttons. Once it powers back up, try connecting to WiFi again.
Try resetting the network connections on your iPad. General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.

Try this and see if it gets rid of the message for you.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

From your description above I conclude that the WiFi transmitter and receiver of your iPad appear to be working, but I abviously cannot tell how well they are working.
Have you reset your iPad already?
Press the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until only the white Apple logo appears on the screen - usually 10 to 15 seconds - ignore anything else.

i met some problem... All of the problem is not appear in Windows
1. I cannot get on the internet by proxy... I try firefox, google-chrome, konqueror, all of them
cannot, but opera can. I dont' do anything even upgrade my system.
2. Even if I don't use the proxy, a lot of website is not allowed to explore, for example: ebay. all of the browser cannot, but opera can....
3.when I pacman -Syu, it will appear some error:
error: failed retrieving file 'community.db.tar.gz' from ftp.tku.edu.tw : No address record (no address record)
but I still can download the package and install, with poorer speed.....
I cannot use "yaourt" to visit AUR, it may display : curl error
I still can log on amsn and use bbs.
how can I fix this problem? Shall I have to paste any information needed?

I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11.

My ipod has been working fine until now and i have tried re- setting the network settings and all the other options that have been given but nothing seems to make any difference. If i try to get onto internet at all on my ipod, for instance, facebook and safari it will just come up no internet connection, even when the bar is full at the top. Can anyone help ?

Despite the WiFi sign at the top you may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. To check on this go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address shown starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix for this can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If this problem continues you should test your iPod on some other networks. Since you say your iPod was "working fine" either it or your router may have developed a hardware problem. If the iPod works OK on other networks your router may have a problem.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

Check to make sure cellular data is not disabled in settings. If it's on, try re-setting the phone. If that doesn't fix it, call AT&T.

1. Click Start, type cmd on the Search box then press enter,
2. Type ping www.google.com then press enter. Can you get something like this (ie 0% loss)
3. Type Exit then press enter
