I have a 3rd party "TPLink ADSL wireless" router controlling Internet and DHCP , Now require my (Airport Basestation and Timecapule) to merely join the existing network. I know this can be done but it was a bit of a work around the automatic setup. The autmatic setup only offers (Create new/WDS/Extend) Does anyone know how to do it, or can point me to the post.

Unfortunately, I need to connect both devices (Extreme and Timecapsule) via wireless. The ADSL router is not conveniently located to allow me to cable them directly. They are both being used to drive a bank of non networkable printers and external harddrives via the USB ports on each.
My frustration with myself is I had it setup, but failed to record for future, the trick in how to unhide the "join network option". I then had a failed firmware update from Apple and then needed to reset the routers and bang the settings were gone.
The Security setting is not an issue I know those I am using WPA2 personal.
I would be grateful for the wireless setup if you have it handy...

I'm trying to extend the range of an Airport Extreme 802.11g by adding an Airport Express 802.11n. I set the Express up to join the existing network, but it does not make any difference in the range of the network. What's wrong?
Let me see if I can help you with the basic WDS configuration steps:
Note: To help facilitate the setup, temporarily connect the AXn directly to the AEBS LAN port using an Ethernet cable. Once the setup is complete, you can move the AXn to the desired location. For all configuration steps you will be using the AirPort Utility. Before starting, be sure to jot down the AppleIDs for both base stations.
802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) Configuration
AirPort Utility > Select the AEBS > Manual Setup > Wireless tab
Wireless Mode: Participate in a WDS network
Manual Setup > WDS tab
WDS Mode: WDS main
Allow wireless clients (checked)
WDS Remotes: <enter the AppleID for the AXn here>
Click on Update and allow the base station to restart.
802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) Configuration
AirPort Utility > Select the AXn > Manual Setup > Wireless tab
Wireless Mode: Participate in a WDS network (Note: You may have to hold down the Option (Mac) or Control (PC) key to see this option in the list.)

I am using iWeb to produce the podcast. I am new to this, when I submitted the podcast it had my name listed (so I thought). Alright people i have a problem and looking for help. Yesterday the iphone started acting funny, a couple apps started crashing and the Iphone reboot a few times on it's own. Things seemed to be back to normal and I notice a "system update" that needed to be install. I thought this update may help the earlier crashing issue. During install, the Iphone froze up and I had to wipe it to factory settings.
Now I have not backed up the phone on the computer/itunes, because I bought extra storage in ICloud. I reset my phone to the last Icloud setting and rescued my contacts, but not the apps or PHOTO/VIDEOS. I was expecting to have the phone to return back to my previous working phone, but now I have to reinstall the apps. Reinstalling the apps is no big deal, but now I only have 6 pictures and NO videos. The icloud settings tells me I have multiple gigs of data used, but where are the photos and videos?
I should add that I lost all my previous text history, which I wish to get back too if possible...
To save some conversation, I researched and didn't find much answers, but found most people were double backing up the photos with Dropbox, Google+, and/or Flickr. I have set up accounts at all three to prevent further issues, but this won't replace the last 6 months of photos that I can not seem to find or reinstate back onto Iphone.
Android uses an external memory card to prevent this type of data loss. #apple#iphone #icloud
I should add the wife and I have two accounts: I have an Iphone 5s and she has her own account with an Iphone 5s and Ipad. We also have a computer running windows vista.

I have tried everything I know, but can't locate the catalog- I do not know where it is or what it would be named or what carbonite would call it. Also, the photos are not at the "same" location. I have over 22,000 photos and can't imagine trying to re-catalog. It is my life and of course, I need something immediately for a family funeral. Not to be too dramatic.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased premiere elements 13. I followed the instructions. Logged in to my account. Located mu order number but could not find the order detail page to click the download your product button. I was also asked to download the Akamai download manager which i don't understand why. Also It said that once the manager was installed the download would appear in the browser which it never did. So, I have no idea if it did download or not. Not sure what else I can try. Would love some help.
The Akamai download manager is used to download the software you purchased. Try the download resources below. The second one does not use the download manager.

When you try to use the Mac side on your external monitor do you get a blank screen or do you see the aurora background?
It would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here. -
Connected to the Airport Express' Network but Can't Find Express
I've recently been having some trouble with my network, which contains a modem connected to an Airport Express, with my iMac connecting wirelessly to that. My internet connection is getting dropped, and when I open up Airport Utility I can't see my Express. However, from the wireless indicator at the top-right of my screen, I am still connected to the Express' network. When I turn my iMac's Airport on and off, it reconnects to the Express' network (which is constantly at full-strength). I also can't ping the Express.
So, I'm connecting to the Express' network but I can't do anything. After a variable amount of time (5 seconds to half-an-hour), the Express will appear in my Airport Utilities once again and I can surf the net. Does anyone have any thoughts? Is there a way to ping any of the protected wireless-networks that are available, just to see if it's a problem on my iMac's end? Could my Express still be broadcasting its SSID but has shut-down it's networking capability because of an overheating issue?

PS. My Airport Express is the 802.11n model.You may need to re set the AE to factory specs and start all over. Read the manual on a factory re set. Start on page 41 and go through page 42.

I have moved from windows to mac and had to reset my airport express. After the reset I enter the name of the existing network, name the base unit, enter its password twicw and select additional options as join the existing network. It comes back with a screen asking for the name of the base unit and password. Aftre which it starts cycling between "waiting for airport express", "connecting to 'network name'" and ends with an error message. When I try to set up using ethernet cable evrything works but I need wireless (it worked OK just hours ago). Any advice?

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash.
