Yes, I guess as the new account I had to open and then reassign my reader
to purchase more reading material as the new account id has I guess blocked
my reading of the previously purchased books already saved. Does this make
sense?

How do I update apps that were purchased under prior email account? I no longer have this email address but the app updates keep prompting me for it.

Apps are forever tied to the account used to download them. That means they will always require it to update. The fact the email is no longer functional has nothing to do with this.
If you still have the password for the Apple ID (not the email account) you can still use it. You can also go to appleid.apple.com and update the email address for the Apple ID there to a functioning one so the Apple ID remains useable.

I have been recording through import > Facetime days of painting a seascape. I have been recording then working with short clips (5-30 minutes) that I then fast forward 200x... This is a big project with hours of video that have been condensed into about 5 minutes. When I went to review the playback, I discovered a missing few days worth of video clips in the middle of the project. the only thing that I did was show the project (just as a playback) to a friend (which I had done before but I had already drug down all the imported clips). All content that you download from iTunes is tied to the account that downloaded it, and it can't be transferred to or merged with another account - so you will need to authorise that old account on that computer if you want to use its content.

I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!! (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)

Open iTunes.
Select the content desired to sync.
Sync.
