Installing JRE when running a jar on a machine without the JRE
Please I want to know how to add the JRE to my jar package so that in case the computer to run the application on has no JRE installed. The jar should prompt for an install which is included in the jar. And also not install when JRE is already running on the machine.

When distributing applications it is easiest and cheapest to include a user guide, or at least a read-me, that states the user must have JRE to run your application and include where JRE can be acquired. The easiest method of packaging a Java application without using programs such as InstallAnywhere, is to include the application in a zip 'ready-to-run'. For similar programs take a look at Eclipse (www.eclipse.org).

I had the same problem this weekend. The iphone 4s needed Itunes10.5 to sync to her Asus Windows 7 Laptop. When I tried to download from the Apple website I got the error that the windows installer was missings files or something like that. I uninstalled itunes and tried again but that didn't work. Then I redownloaded itunes 10.3 just to have a working version in case I gave up. Then I found site that suggested I update Windows by going through the start menu and while doing that I found an update Apple itunes file.
Goto Start and type Widows Update in the seach window. Click on check for updates (I already was current with all updates but I suggest you download the updates if there are some available.
Goto start and this time just type update in the search window. Look for the Apple itunes update link and click on it. It found there were updates for itunes 10.5, Quick time, Safari, and Icloud. I checked all the updates except for Safari, since we don't use it (yet).
The install started then seemed to stall at one spot for ~3min but then completed successfully. I open itunes and had her synced with Outlook Contact, Email, Calender, and Notes in 5 minutes. I did already configure Outlook by going to tools and Trust Center.

I'm new to java,I want to know if there's a way to run a application on a machine without JDK installed, I noticed that some server application such as Domino have CORBA applications running in background,how can I set up such environment without JDK installed?

1) Install the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) on the machine in question.

Just upgraded software. When system prompts to update itunes and in the middle of the system's attempt to complete the upgrade, the message, "The following install step failed: run preupgrade script for AppleMobileDeviceSupport. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance" appears.
I don't understand what "preupgrade" needs to be done.
Anyone else experience this?

Can I restore photo files from Time Machine without the use of an external drive? While I was transferring photos back and forth from a thumb drive something went haywire and my IPhoto was wiped clean! When I click on Time Machine I see all the dated pages (without an external storage drive connected), go back to a date where all my photo files are there, click "restore", and I get the message: "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in file cant be read or written (error code - 36)"

Run invoke-command on multiple machines at the same time
Hey all so I read that if I store my New-pssession in a variable then used that in my invoke-command it would run all computers at the same time.

So what I think you are doing wrong here is that you are overwriting the value in $Session everytime you executed code inside for loop. try the below:

Do you other opcion?Applets run on browers and hence it merely depends upon the browser capability. If your browser has inbuild JVM then only you can see the applet. And now a days all browsers eg. IE and Netscape and VM enabled.

"Could not find the main class" when running a jar
Hi, I'm trying to create and run a jar from my application, but I can't figure out how to properly set an entry-point. Looking at the Java Tutorials http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/jar/index.html I still can't get it to work.
I have a directory myApp, which contains a directory images and some class files, including mainClass.class. I also have a manifest Manifest.txt in the directory myApp with the following line:
Main-Class: mainClass.class
+ one empty line
I create a jar successfully, while inside the myApp directory, with the following command:
jar cfm myApp.jar Manifest.txt *.class images\*.*
I then proceed to run the jar with the following command:
java -jar myApp.jar
and receive the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: myApp/class
My completely uneducated guess is that there is something wrong with my manifest. The tutorial says that the line should be:
Main-Class: MyPackage.MyClass
I'm assuming that I get the error because I didn't specify a package, which I didn't do because I didn't know what to put there. Do I even have a package?
Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong? thanks.

SmurfZGOne problem is you are specifying a file name instead of a class name. It probably should beMain-Class: mainClassA good test is to run your app before jaring it - if you run it with "java mainClass" then the Main-Class attribute must be mainClass.
Also class naming conventions say that class names should start with a capital letter - MainClass for example. It is just a convention, but it is easier to get help when you follow conventions. -
Jdbc connection blocks when run from jar
The following code establishes a connection EXCEPT when run from within a jar file:

<><When building the JAR file, I inadvertently included files from two Oracle JDBC driver versions (1.2 and 1.4). I was building a single jar file with all files in it.
I am guessing same named files existed in both driver JARs and caused "confussion" when combined into the single JAR.
Still, I would have expected an exception to be thrown or a null connection to be returned instead if the thread just blocking.

Class not being created when running from jar

Plaform: windows xp
I have created a Swing app, that connects to a com port(using the RXTXcomm). now, when I run the app in the IDE, everything is fine and dandy, but, when I run the jar file, the application loads, but the class in the app which deals with the com port is not created. here is the code:

portListener in the createAndShowGUI() function is an interface level parameter and is the class that is not being created. There is no error message.
If I move the two lines that deal with the port listener before the frame.pack() line, then the GUI is not even loaded, and when I view the processes in the task manager, the process starts and then quits without anything becoming visible. So from this I guess there is a problem with creating the class when running from a jar, but without any error messages, I have not a clue where to start...can anyone help?

This is obviously a classpath problem. After running the my jar file with java -jar I finally got the error NoClassDefFoundError
Kind of obvious I suppose. But, I cannot seem to get the two jar files I need into the classpath. I have tried the following:
Updating my computers CLASSPATH with the relevant paths - not working
Trying to get the Sun Java Studio Enterprise to build the required jar files into the final package - cannot get this to work
Tried updating the manifest.mf in the following way:
Created a text file Manifest.txt with the lines:
Class-Path: RXTXcomm.jar
Class-Path: BrowserLauncher2-10rc4.jar
ran the command (in the same directory as Manifest.txt):
jar cfm RUFILOGScanner.jar Manifest.txt classes/*.class
but this does not work either. When I run: jar tf RUFILOGScanner.jar all I get is:
META-INF/
META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
classes/
classes/CRCCalculator.class
classes/Main$1.class
classes/Main.class

Program doesn't show icon when run from JAR
Hello,
I have a working program with menu and toolbar buttons with icons. When I compile and run the JAR it runs fine with all icons showing up. The icons are located in a folder named icons. They are referenced inside the Java code by "icons/iconName.png". However, after I make a JAR file of the program, it runs normally, but the icons do not show up.
I use the command line command :
jar cvfm Program.jar manifest.txt *.class"
Then I open the JAR with WinRar and place the icons folder in the archive.
My manifest.txt looks like this:
{code}Manifest-Version: 1.0
Class-Path: .
Main-Class: MyMainClass
SplashScreen-Image: splash.png{code}

Thanks.I was having similar problems. If you use an IDE, such as NetBeans BE SURE to copy that image/ folder into the build/classes in the right place in the hierarchy. In any event, not having resource files such as textfiles and images over in the classes will prevent the IDE from executing a java run. That is obvious and easy to remedy.
And then the discovery: what works in .class files won't work in .jar. I found this link and tried the following code in a synchronized thread (you want the images loaded before going further with any inits such as frame.setLocation(), or panel.setSize(), etc.):
ClassLoader cldr = this.getClass().getClassLoader();
URL imageURL = cldr.getResource("images/usa_small.png");
icons[x] = new ImageIcons(imageURL);Where I found it:

it looks like, that your "shared device" you are using is not really shared.
The second node does "create an ASM diskgroup" and create OCR and Voting disks. If this indeed would be a shared device, he should have recognized, that your disk is shared.
So as a result your VMware configuration must be wrong, and the disk you presented as shared disk is not really shared.
Which VMWare version did you use? It will not work correctly with the workstation or player edition, since shared disks are only really working with the server version.
If you indeed using the server, could you paste your vm configurations?
Furthermore I recommend using Virtual Box. There is a nice how-to:
