IPhone 5, webpages added to home screen don't open correctly

When I open pages stored to the home screen they appear to open using the old screen size. There are black bars at top and bottom and no navigation bars. Even the time, battery indicator, etc are moved down on the screen.

The error that you are seeing has to do with your Internet connection. Try disabling your anti-virus software and connect the iPhone again and try to restore. See this support document for help. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

IPhone 3G - Applications Exit to Home Screen

I've got a brand new 3G iPhone. In the course of using many different apps (from Apple and others from the app store) the apps will often exit after a few seconds of use, returning to the home screen. The system software is up to date.
Any idea what might be causing this? Has anyone else experienced this?

Try a reboot (described below).
Think of it this way, the iPhone is more of a computer than a phone. It suffers from being a new OS and nobody can deny there are not bugs and memory leaks. The longer left running, the more things start to fail or slow down (I have had the iPhone since day one of original phone and I am just speaking from my experience). Thus I equate it to like when Windows95 came out...not sure of your age or if you remember those days...but back then it was a running joke of how many days you can keep Windows 95 running before you had to reboot. I am sorry to say but the iPhone is the same way right now (but getting better with a few hiccups back during the 2.0 release). So for me, I reboot daily when I leave in the morning and take it off the charger. By doing so I rarely see any lag or problems.
A reset/reboot is:
Go to Home Screen
Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

IPhone won't go to home-screen!

My iPhone refuses to go to the home-screen! I have to literally turn off and turn on the entire phone to get to another application on the phone. It's very annoying having to turn the phone on and off, and I know that can't be good for the phone. Is there anyway to fix this? Or will I just have to buy an entire new phone. I've tried resetting it, plugging it into iTunes, charging it etc. I don't know.

You can try the basic restart, reset, and restore found in the manual page 34, 132-133 and 142.
The iphone has a one year warranty. If it is within the warranty you can call Apple or make an appointment at the Genius Bar.

Ads in notifications and icons added to home screen.

This is happening on my wife's phone. Notifications that are ads and icons to a different market added to her home screen. I assume it is an app that is doing it, but I cannot figure out which. Any tips on finding this thing or stopping the behavior?

Use the Addons Detector app that can be found and downloaded from the Google Play Store. It scans and determines what apps have push ads that cause the notification ads and icons to appear. Download it, run the scan, tap Addons, and uninstall anything that shows up in the Push Notifications section.

Changing Mobile Website Icon When Added to Home Screen of a Mobile

Does anybody know how to change the icon on the mobile layout when a user 'Adds to Home Screen'? Also, is it possible to add the mobile website to the users homescreen by having a button or code in place? Any help would be hugely appreciated people!! Thanks a lot!!

Bookmark saved in phone homescreen would be favicon of your site , which you can change from Site properties.
Regarding adding site favicon in homescreen , you can add the browser bookmark in homescreen first and then from browser settings , add bookmark with site name in home screen.

When was the last time you powered your iPhone off and on?
Try a reset instead which is similar to a computer restart. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.

My Mail app sends me to home screen when I open it

Let me tell you what I have done after reading all of the threads on this forum about this issue.
• Closed the app mail and restarted it #RollEyes #duh
• Turning phone off and turning it back on
• Resetting Phone
• Removing all of the mail accounts from my mail app (using the Settings app), then re adding
• Removing all of the mail accounts from my mail app (using the settings app), then shutting down phone, then re adding
• Removing all of the mail accounts from my mail app (using the settings app), then resetting phone, then re adding
• Deleting all of my mail from the mail servers (using my computer) for the last two days, then "delete forever" all of that mail that I moved to the trash (my mail app stopped working today - so two days should cover it)
• Putting the phone in airplane mode
• Setting the phone to "data off"
I still get a mail app that "opens" then immediatly goes back to the home screen (the mail app is still "running" as I can see it when I double tap my home button to see the "running" apps)
I've been using apple products since I was 5 years old, family of electrical engineers, and I'm stumped. I love apple and the reason I've used their products is to avoid software malfunctions etc. . . I'm not gonna lie, it's gotten worse over the last few years with Apple's growing popularity. . .

Restore as new, THEN restore from the backup. It seems as if the Mail App is corrupted. Last Sunday this happened to me on my iPad (Mail app quitting, just like in your case). I restored as new, then reinstalled the backup. Luckily I had a backup (from the day before) which was backed up BEFORE the mail problem appeared.
If the above does not solve your problem, I suggest restoring as new and redownloading each app individually, and then transferring your photos from iPhoto on the Mac (or whataever photo app on Windows) and content independently.
If that does not solve your prblem, there might be a hardware problem.

Camera button on home screen no longer opens camera ?

When I doube tap the home button to use the camera from the home screen, it sort of 'hops' up about 1/2 a cm, but then bounces back down without opening the camera app, this is only since the upgrade to 5.1. I tried a hard reset, but no joy (and no shortcut to the camera either!!) Is it just me or is anyone else having this issue ?
*edit* figured it out, its now a slide motion upwards.....

You should have seen all the questions when they first added the shortcut to the lock screen. No one could figure out how to use it as it required a double tap to make it visible.

Why does my iPod crash to the home screen when I open an app?

My iPod touch has been crashing to the home screen when I stay on aps such as Safari, Facebook, or the App Store for a short period of time. For example, when I go to the App Store to update my apps it crashes right away, wheras in Safari it wll crash after a few minutes of browsing the web.
Are there ways to prevent this from happening?

Calendar items on my ipad synch to my iphone, but items added to my phone don't synch to my pad. I've gone through all the updates and followed online instructions already. Ideas?

Why won't calendar items that i add to my iphone synch to my ipad? And yet when I add items to my ipad, it will synch to my phone? I've done all of the updates, followed on-screen instructions, etc.

If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test: Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options. Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup. If that doesn't work, then this post will not help. If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup. If successful, keep repeating these steps. If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail. (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

Perhaps you shouldn't let people who take "any kind of questionable photos" (what does that mean?) use your phone. Cameras don't generally have passcodes on them. If you left your camera lying around unattended, people could use them to take pictures, too.

Firefox 12 doesn't load bookmarks in sidebar, home pages don't open, undo closed tab won't work.

Firefox 11 worked fine. Firefox 12 seemed to install too fast. Now, when opening Firefox, bookmarks don't load in sidebar, even though the top of the sidebar says "bookmarks." Home pages won't load on opening Firefox---only a new tab. Clicking on the little house icon opens the home pages. Display closed tabs icon is dark and Undo closed tabs won't work. Sometimes the toolbar with File, Edit, View etc goes so dark it virtually disappears. I have Vista OS. Reinstalling Firefox 12 didn't help. Is there a fix, or can I go back to Firefox 11?

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
