Ipod on Apple Logo

Hello,
I bought my ipod a few years back. Ive dropped it a couple of times, after which the Ipod began freezing constantly. Then I got the Unhappy face Logo, meaning that there is something wrong with the hard drive. I purchased the parts online for my Ipod and followed the installation process to install a new hard drive and a new battery. Now the Ipod stays on the apple Logo. Ive tried to reset the Ipod by holding the menu and select button. This causes the Ipod to reset but stays at the Apple Logo. I have been unable to set the Ipod to disk mode and when I charge it nothing new happens, also when I plug the Ipod into my Mac it doesnt recognise it.

iPod touch apple logo screen blinking on and off, unresponsive to physical touch. Frozen without looking frozen.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • IPod shows apple logo and nothing else

I managed to put it on disk mode, and iTunes actually "saw" it. I even uploaded some tracks, everything is ok supposedly but when I reset it, it shows the apple logo and won't do anything else after that. All you see is the logo.
That was the case even before I upload any of the tracks.
    thanks in advance guys

You need to put it back into disk mode, connect it to the computer, and restore it with the ipod updater. The ipods software is not installed correctly. Here is a link addressing your exact issue. The artical also contains links about restoring an ipod http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61584

  • Ipod touch apple logo stuck

iPod Touch 4G. The device is stuck showing the Apple Logo...will not power on or power off. If I press Home and Sleep buttons together it powers off and then immediately powers back on, still showing the Apple logo. Nothing else.

Well there are many verisons of iOS 4.x. The .ipsw is pretty much the operating system in one big restore bundle so you can quickly update it.
Does it get recongnized by iTunes?

  • Ipod blinks apple logo. Won't restore.

    Hello,
I've done a bit of searching but haven't found anything on my particular problem....
My ipod nano 7th generation was working fine until I tried connecting it via bluetooth to my car stereo (which I've done numerous times without issue) and then ZAP it goes dead. Tried pressing the power button and the apple logo blinks once very rapidly. Tried holding home and power button to reset and it does the same thing. Tried plugging it into my computer but itunes wouldn't recognize it. Plugged the usb into a different port and rebooted my PC and it still didn't recognize it. Held down power and home key for 15 seconds and a message popped up in itunes and said it needs to prepare my ipod for recovery so I click continue. Then it says it detected an ipod in recovery mode and needs to restore it so I click OK and click restore. After it does it's thing it says to leave it plugged in while it restores but all my ipod does is blink the apple logo on and off and nothing changes. Unplug it and it's acting the same as it did before the "restore".
Any help would be much appreciated.
EDIT* Just realized this is in the ipod touch section. Meant to put it in nano.

I requested your post be moved to the iPod Nano forum

  • Ipod flashing apple logo only - but works in dock

Hope someone can help. I've tried the reset procedure to try and solve this problem - Nano works when in the (Philips) dock and seems to be charging up, but dies when removed from dock and isn't recognized when connected to mac. So can't get to it in iTunes. So I can't restore to factory settings...
I suspect my son, whose iPod it is, might have put a corrupt file on it. But how can I restore settings? I can't seem to put it in disk mode either.

Most likely faulty battery. Battery replacement at Apple Store is $80, and you will get perfect working iPhone 4 same as your current iPhone, except it will be working. Make Genius Reservation and take to Apple. Or have battery replaced elsewhere.

  • IPod shows apple logo then after about 1 minute a white film with garbage pixels appears and it reboots.

4th Gen iPodTouch does as stated in question. Am restoring it now. Why would this happen?

Could be software glitch or hardware problem.
If you successfully restored (went through all steps without error) to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..

  • I've reset my iPod but the Apple logo does not go away

I 've reset my iPod - the Apple logo has been displayed for over 10 minutes.  Is this normal?  Should I plug it back into iTunes?

The iPod firmware is corrupted and you need to go into DiskMode and Restore the firmware.

  • I have an older 8GB iPod Touch no longer supported by tech. It is locked up in "Restore" mode and fails to respond to 2-button reset. I get the apple logo and then it pos back to the cord and disc icon for restore. Any advice?

I have an older 8GB black iPod Touch (no bluetooth) no longer supported by tech. It is "locked" in restore mode. When I do a 2 button reset I can get the Apple logo but then it pops back to the synch cord-and-music disc icon indicative of restore. Any advice?

    Hello honeycrisp70,
For that error, check out the article below for additional troubleshooting to get it sorted out. If it continues then you may need to contact Apple support.

Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • Ipod touch 1st gen is frozen, all I see is Apple logo for 10 secs and then screen goes black. What's wrong with it?

My ipod touch (1st gen) is frozen and does not respond. All I can see is the Apple logo for around 10 seconds and then screen returns to black. What is wrong?

Did you already try to connect in recovery mode and restore? iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore

  • My iPod keeps showing the apple logo + a blank screen and the lock screen keeps freezing when trying to unlock it.

Last night I turned my iPod touch 4g off randomly and then when I went to turn it back on and went to unlock the screen it froze up right there and will not unlock to the home screen to where all my apps and all that are. Ever since that happened the iPod keeps showing the apple logo repeatedly, as well as a screen being completely blank when still turned on. Also when i plug in the iPod to the computer it recognizes it for a second but the iPod does nothing and shuts off and repeats in showing the apple logo and blank black screen. I can get it to the home screen where the slide to lock button is but every time i even attempt to slide it, it freezes up and doesn't do it.
I also having been trying to restore it by plugging in the cord and pressing the home button to get the screen with the usb cord to pop up but no matter what i do, it will not let me turn the iPod off period because every time i keep trying to do that it just shows the apple logo and all of what i said up above again. I have also seen it get a white screen to show a few times , which i assume means the white screen of death. I have never seen that screen before this happened.
I know this is not making any sense whatsoever but this is very hard to put into words in explaining. I have searched the internet but i can't find a single problem that sounds like this one in solving to fix it. The iPod is on right now as i'm typing this. I haven't attemtped to push the buttons down again to fix as i would assume maybe to just leave it alone as i sleep through the night in hopes of it maybe working or even dying. I've only had this iPod for 4 months now and i just don't understand why it won't let me turn it off completely or work properly for me to restore it.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
