Is it bad to charge my iphone over a 100% for an 1hour?

So I plugged my phone in to charge but totally forgot to check how much it was charged to  after a couple hours I look and it's 100%
Is it bad to charge your iPhone over a 100% this is my first time ever doing it and I have a iPhone 5s?

You can and should charge as often and as long as possible... deep discharges are hard on lithium batteries.  Normal mobile use will usually result in the one charge cycle/month that Apple recommends although it's OK to fully discharge and then recharge to 100% every once in a while to recalibrate the battery meter.
Also, you cannot overcharge the device, thus you can leave it plugged in as long as you like.

No. The charging circuitry in the device turns off when the battery is fully charged.

They have told me that is bad to leave the iphone charging all night cause it can be bad for the battery.

"They" are wrong.  The iPhone will stop charging when full and leaving it plugged in overnight won't hurt it.

  • Feeling Scammed over the $100 for my Trade-In

This is a long one - But I know I am not alone. Can someone help?!
A few months ago, more like 4 months ago, I participated in the Trade-In program. I traded in my LG Dare and bought a new iPhone. I received an email on September 16th stating that my phone had appraised for the $100 and that I should receive my gift card in the mail within 3 weeks. GREAT!
3 weeks passed and I had not received my gift card. Eventually, on October 25th, I called about it. The representative with whom I spoke to had the gift card reissued. Another 3+ weeks goes by and I still had not received anything from Verizon resembling a $100 gift card - Nothing. So, on November 29th, I called again. I was told to wait till the end of the week to see if it would arrive, but it didn't. So, on December 7th, I called again. This time the nice woman on the phone tapped us in to Customer Care. The result of that conversation was that my case would be escalated in request for a credit to my account for the $100. I was told that I would get a text/contact from the authorities that be at Verizon within 24-48 hours on whether or not the credit would be approved. 24-48 hours had passed and I had heard nothing from Verizon, so I called again. I was told that the credit request was denied and that the ONLY THING THEY COULD DO was try to resend the gift card a third (and final) time. I asked what would happen if I still did not receive the card, since this is the FINAL try... The representative said that at that point someone higher up would have to step in and handle it - like - whether or not they would bother sending another one. At this point, I gave them a different address (my work address) to try. Just in the case that something was goofy with my home residence. I sort of felt a bit a faith that this time I would get the card... But no. I still have not received the gift card...
I called last week on January 11th. The person said that my card was sent to the shipping facilities on the December 20th and was shipped from there on January 9th to me and that it should arrive on the 17th. I'm not sure where all of these cards are going, but I certainly have not received it. So of course, I called again yesterday. I wanted to speak to a supervisor. I was told there were none available and that all that could be done was to have my case escalated and that someone would contact me within 24-48 hours. I've been there, done that. No one called me. I called back a little later to see if I could speak to a supervisor. The gentleman on the phone said that he was the highest authority available and that all he could do was escalate my case. No thank you. I asked when a supervisor would be available to talk to. He gave me the run around and eventually told me that they cannot just let everyone and anyone speak to a supervisor when they want. If they did that then it would be overwhelming for the supervisors...
I had to settle for the case escalation... I haven't received a phone call from Verizon and it's been about two business days now.

I was unable to find help/assistance through this community board system. But I did manage to find some corporate contacts for Verizon Wireless online - I went direct to them with my situation and got this taken care of.
The gentleman on the phone was quick and courteous with me. I can thank myself and him for finding resolution to this 4 month whirlwind of a situation.

  • Is charging a iPhone 5 overnight bad

I'm just wondering. I've been charging my iPhone over night for like 2 weeks and I was just wondering if that harms the battery. Also, should I use the battery fully until it drains to zero, or plug it in before it discharges? Thanks.

You cannot Overcharge the iPhone... Not necessary to fully Discharge the battery... You can charge it whenever is convenient for you.

  • I have  to charge my iphone 4 every day. I bought it one week ago.

I think there is something wrong with the battery. Battery performance is totally different from what Apple claims.
I turn off push and location service. I don't have any email account set up on my iphone.
Does anyone have the ideas? Thanks in advance.

To be honest, I don't have much time to play with my iphone 4. What I am sure is that it is totally different from what Apple claims.
Apple recommends that I should charge the iphone 4 to 100% and drain it completely. What does "drain it completely" mean - to 0% or to around 20% where "low battery warning" appear?
Draining it completely means from 100% or wherever your battery is left, you are draining it down to 0%, where it will automatically power off because there isn't much power left to the device. Technically speacking, once the phone reaches 1%, it will take a few minute and the phone will completely shut off. This is how you know you drained the battery.
Try resstoring the phone and set up as new and see if that fixes the issue. If not, you might have to drop in at the apple store and have them check it out.

The iPhone has a very smart charger built into the phone. The thing that plugs in to the wall is not a charger; it is just a power source. Likewise, the Lightning cable is not a charger; it is wires plus a digital to analog converter built into the plug. The charger itself is inside the phone, and it will not allow the battery to be overcharged. It stops charging when the battery reaches 1000%. So the best way to manage your battery is to charge it overnight, every night. Whether you think it needs charging or not. That way it will always start the day with a full charge.

  • Is it bad to always fully charge an iPhone 5?

I'm confused on how to charge an iPhone. I've been reading a lot of posts saying that always fully charging your iPhone 5 can shorten it's battery life span. Is that true?

No. Just use it how it best suits you.

    Use iPhone Regularly
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • When/how to charge the iPhone for optimal battery life?

I have an iPhone 3G 8GB. I was just wondering what the best way to go about charging the iPhone is, in order to optimise the battery life?
Should you wait until the iPhone is really flat/ low battery and then charge it up full, or are smaller and more frequent 'shallow' charges healthier?
I also heard somewhere that every couple of months or so it is a good idea to let the battery run completely dead and then charge it up, in order to calibrate it or something... but that doing this too often could be detrimental.
Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated! I don't know if I should let my iPhone run really low before charging it or if smaller more frequent chargers are the way to go.
    Thanks!

Thanks! I did read over that and have taken the steps mentioned and fiddled around with settings of my phone to optimise use. I was just wondering if anyone else had anything else to add about charging habits specifically and what works best... I think mainly I'm just being paranoid about my phone dying prematurely since it's the first time I've owned such an expensive gadget!
Also, can you overcharge it? Is it bad to leave it on the charger overnight? I've done some searching in other threads/ webpages and there seems to be some discrepancies but for the most part people seem to think that it will be fine?

  • Is it bad to charge your iPad when there is like 30% left ?

Is it bad to charge your iPad when there is like 30% left ?

Question: What is a "charge cycle"?
Answer: Lithium-ion batteries can be charged a finite number of times, as defined by charge cycle. A charge cycle means using all of the battery's power, but that doesn't necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could use to your iPad for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put your iPad's battery through many charge cycles before it will only hold 80 percent of its original battery capacity.
Don't worry about it, since the battery will take 1000s of charge cycles.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • If iPhone 4 is bad hardware, will a new phone be exchanged for this one?

After reading all the problems people are experiencing with the iPhone 4, I still have hope and have yet to give my final judgement on it's competence. I will tell you that I too have been experiencing the same signal issues and dropped calls, even with the phone in a case. The other serious problem is with the bluetooth headset connection. Just like many other people, the iPhone 4 can't keep my headset connected more than 7 or 8 feet away from it and everyone tells me they can't understand what I am saying. The same headset, paired with other phones (including my 3GS) is working great.
With all that said, if Apple can't fix these problems with software and has to redesign the phone, will they swap our iPhone 4 (first generation) with the new iPhone 4 at no charge to us????!???
I love this phone, but I am having too many connection and bluetooth problems to just say "oh well, I'll just learn to live with it!"
Can someone from Apple please tell us, when they know, what is going on.
I and many of us will be as understanding and patient as possible, but we would like the truth as is discovered. Please.

Let's go through all your concerns one by one.
    1. Not everyone is experiencing problems with the phone. If you read these forums over the years, when a new Apple product comes out, there's all these "issues" that pop out. Most are bogus. Many are user errors. When the iPad came out a few months ago, you should have seen the garbage being said. Now it's quiet, with people asking legitimate questions. It's the same here.
    2. As for the antenna problem, it is not a vast majority who is experiencing it. With over 2.5 million iPhones sold across the world, if even 10% have a problem, then the noise level would be overwhelming. This forum is one of the first places people come to figure out an issue, and you're not seeing thousands of complaints, just a few. The problem is rather random, which leads me to believe it's a manufacturing defect, but Apple and others claim it's a software bug. Who knows. It seems a good case or bumper cures the problem, and I always use a case, so I think it's easily cured.
    3. As for the bluetooth issue, again, it's not an overwhelming issue. For example, my iPhone 4 connects to every Bluetooth device I have, including a 5 year old car with a Bluetooth system. I don't use a bluetooth headset (I don't like the sound quality, and I want to listen to my music in high fidelity, which bluetooth is singularly unable to perform), but I tried it, and it worked. I am a statistical sample of 1, so take it for what it's worth, which, in a statistical sense is useless. But so is anyone else describing their anecdote. You need to try it yourself. Some older headsets just seem to fail with newer bluetooth standards. If it doesn't work, get another iPhone, Apple is good for that.
    4. If there is an issue with the phone, whether, software, firmware or hardware, Apple will do the right thing. They know, as do most corporations who sell products, what constitutes whining and what constitutes a real problem. But they aren't going to say anything, until they say something.
    5. No one from Apple reads what you're writing. If you want to voice a concern, this isn't the place to do it. And once again, even if they did, they will do what they need to do to make everyone happy. Let's just say my personal experience with a MacBook Pro last year was dealt with in the most professional way possible, and they made me extremely happy. And that was a $3000 item.
Just relax. If Apple is going to treat its customers unethically, which is not indicated by its past behavior, then I'll be the first to bash them.
Go buy one (but there's a three week wait, so you'll really have to be patient). If it has a problem, walk, run, drive, bicycle to your local Apple Store, and get it replaced. They'll make you happy. If you return it four times, I'd ask to see the manager. They'll really make you happy, I promise.
