Issue Forwarding Port 7000 on RVS4000 Router

Hi Everyone,
I have recently replaced a WatchGuard Firebox SOHO 6 with a Linksys 4 Port Router Mod: RVS4000 because the WatchGuard was becoming unstable.
I set up the new router with all the settings from the previous equipment, which included forwarding port 7000 to a specific IP.
This port broadcasts images from a surveillance software installed on a computer with a static IP (the computer runs on Vista).
In order to view the broadcasted video on another computer, I use a proprietary software not a web browser.
So far, I tried single port forwarding without being able to view the images and range port forwarding with the same result.
I spend over an hour with the Business Tech Support from Linksys without success. They even remoted into the device and found nothing suspicious.
Currently the router runs on firmware version 1.2.11 and the Tech Support people suggested upgrading to a newer version.
I'm concerned to do so because I in read other postings that I can run into a bigger problem (i.e. bricking the router).
Finally, other ports are being forwarded (i.e. port 3389 RDP) and it works fine, so at least I know the forwarding feature is working properly.
Can someone shed some ligh as to what to do next?
Needless to say, everything was working fine with the WatchGuard Firebox and no changes in equipment, IPs or other software/hardware have been done.
Thank you in advance fro your help.

Greetings,
That sounds peculiar that some ports would get forwarded but others not, you might want to check and see if your ISP is blocking the ports if your going through the internet to this security application.  If everything is local, then you should try to follow the advice of upgrading your firmware to the latest version, in order to avoid "bricking" your router do the following sequence, before you upgrade:
do a backup of your configuration (optional)
Reset router to factory default settings from the GUI.
Upgrade to latest firmware.
Reset router to factory default settings again from the GUI.
Configure everything again manually *RECOMENDED*
This somewhat ilogical sequence of events prevents the IOS from being corrupted and has worked in many cases I have dealt with regarding router "lock up" issues.
Besides that the only thing else I can think of is find out if there are any more additional ports required for this application to work properly and check to see if your using the exact protocol  UDP or TCP for the ports that are being forwarded.
Regards.

  • HTTPS (port 443) for RVS4000 Router

    Hello All
I have two servers - one running MS exchange and the other running a crm platform and both must be access via https. On the router -I have bound https to one ip address and router refuses to accept the binding of the same port 443 to another ip address. I will appreciate any help I can get towards resolving this.
    The network diagram is attached.

    Hello!
Unfortunately it is not possible to have same port forwarded simultaneously to several internal IP addresses - just imagine even if this setting would be possible, how the router will know which request to which internal server to forward since the port where request was received is the same?
However, with RVS4000 you can do the following - use TCP 443 for server1 and let's say TCP 4443 for server2.
Let's assume that your servers have the following IP address assignement:
    Server1 - 192.168.8.100
    Server2 - 192.168.8.101
In RVS4000 go to Firewall -> Single Port Forwarding
Configure it as on the screenshot:
After that you can access from the Internet both servers using the following URL:
    Server1 - https://wan_ip_address
    Server2 - https://wan_ip_address:4443
Hope it will solve your problem!

  • Issues forwarding ports with WRT160N

Trying to forward a port to set up a game server. After searching forever for my password, I'm met with this:
(Sorry for blurring, didn't know if any of that was "sensitive" information or not.)
Anyways, according to what I've seen, there should be a lot more than that, namely several tabs, one named something like "Applications and Gaming" or something, where I go to forward the port.
    What am I doing wrong?
    (Mod note: Image edited.)

    Who is your ISP?
What are the ports numbers which you are trying to open on your Router?
When you are trying to save settings once you input all the information under Single Port Forwarding are you getting any kind of error message?
Have you tried different Browser or different computer?

  • Port Forwarding not working between Fios Router and Netgear R6200 AT ALL

For the past two days I've been trying to forward port 80 and port 9000 from my Fios Router to my new NetGear R6200 Router and absolutely nothing is working. I need these ports open and forwarded as I need to forward them to my surveillance system from my R6200. The problem is that port forwarding is not working AT ALL. I've literally tried EVERYTHING. I turned my firewall off completely, enabled DMZ, changed my R6200 to a static IP, turned off uPnP on both sides, and reset my router to factory settings. I'm all out of patience and ideas. This is exactly why I went out and bought the R6200 in the first place, Verizon's Routers are atrocious.
    Hardware:
First Router (Gateway): Verizon Fios Aciontec  MI424WR
Second Router: NetGear R6200 Dual Band 802.11AC Router
Surveillance System DVR: Zmodo H9114 DVR
    OS: Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit
At this point I'm willing to try anything. Fios customer support knew absolutely nothing and wasted my time and if a tech is sent to my house I'm sure the same exact outcome will occur. I recall someone saying that cloning the MAC of a different REV. worked for them but I don't recall the details. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    #1 As addressed in http://www.dslreports.com/faq/12506
The DHCP Server in the secondary router should be off.
#2 You only forward from the main router directly to the computer that you want to host on.

I've been having a problem forwarding ports in my router WRT160N I enable the ports I want to use for my applications, just after clicking save settings I go back to my port's forwarding section and I don't see any application I add being saved. Please help, thanks.

Might be possible that it will take time to save the settings ... so once you click save settings wait for few seconds ...
Also if it not working ... disable all firewall on the computer & then try to configure the router ...

  • RVS4000 Router configuration

    Hi All,
I urgently need your assistance on this.
Attached is a schematic of the implementation we have.
    IPSec VPN is running successfully.
The issue is that we want to access the CRM service and the Exchange via HTTPS from the internet.
The firewall in the RVS4000 at Station A has been configured to allow HTTPS (port 443) traffic to 192.168.8.200 (Exchange) but when attempting to bind the same port 443 to .8.202 ffor CRM traffic the RVS4000 refuses to accept the config. I cant find anywhere to tweak the settings to accept the configuration of multiple services on port 443.
I have sending CRM traffic to station B and set the router's to forward https traffic to 192.168.8.202, again the RVS4000 at station B cannot ping the machines in the .8.0 subnet. A traceroute shows that it is forwarding all packets via the ISP's interface (even for packets to 192.168.8.0. I attempted a static route and it just wouldnt accept it's interface as the default gateway.
Please if there is anyone that has overcome this problem I would like to share your experience.
    thanks

    Hello Jprez1980,
There are a few issues that I see you bumping into.
    1. Be sure that the DHCP on the RVS4000 is turned off, or it will attempt to hand out DHCP addresses to anything connected to your switch.
    2. It has been my experience that RVS4000 may not accept a VPN connection without the Public IP address being directly on it.
    3. What type of VPN connection are you refering to? Gateway-to-Gateway or QuickVpn?
    4. If you are going to forward ports to the router for VPN purposes, By default, when you set up a VPN connection (gateway-to-gateway) on this router, then its going to send it to the WAN IP address, you'll find this option under the Local Group Setup, which auto-populates.
The RVS4000 would need to forward ports back out of the LAN for this to work, it can only forward ports originating from the WAN to the LAN, it can't forward from LAN to LAN. For basic routing, I don't see you having an issue at all, but the VPN part will be a bit tricky.
You can try to forward those ports to the LAN Address of the Router and see what you get, but once again, I do see a potential problem.
Hope this helps, try it out anyway and let me know how it goes, I may have a suggestion.
    Have a great day.

  • Unable to forward ports on HH4

    Hi all,
Had Infinity 2 installed a couple of weeks ago, and I am finding it impossible to forward ports on the HH4. I have tried every which way but with no luck so, to make things easier to explain, have just factory reset my router and have done the following:
(The PC I am trying to forward to has the static IP of 192.168.0.10, and the port I need to forward is 4040)
Changed hub IP to 192.168.0.1 (my network is set up for this IP, have also tried on original IP with no success)
    Changed DHCP range to 192.168.0.64 - 192.168.0.253
    Disabled uPNP
Set up a new application 'Subsonic' to forward both protocols in the range 4040-4040, to translate to 4040-4040
Assigned this application to device of static IP 192.168.0.10
    Apply settings.
... And nothing! Port still closed. Have I missed anything?
This is a major issue for me at the moment, somebody please help!
(Oops, forgot to add - Firewall and antivirus are both off on the PC)

Tried 192.168.0.58, 192.168.0.60 and 192.168.0.200 (after adjusting the DHCP assign to 192.168.0.66-192.168.0.100)
No luck on any of them - Just get this as usual....

  • Can't forward ports with Cisco EPC3925 and Airport Express and Extreme!

    Hello,
I have very big problem, I've been trying for whole day to forward ports for steam and I just can't I tried everything, I have Cisco EPC3925 ( Its main thing I think its router - right ? ) Then I have connected Airport Express to it with ethernet cable ( It's working as DHCP and NAT I have double nat issue in my airport program I don't know what is this ) also Airport Express is set to create a Wi-Fi network, then I have connected Airport Extreme with Wi-fi and set to exceed wi-fi network and can't change anything in it , can't open ports etc. etc. MY COMPUTER is connected to Airport Extreme ( 2nd device ) with cable ! So Im not connecting my computer to internet with wi-fi
Also I've been looking in Airport Express ( the 1st device ) and I saw that there I can open ports , but I opened them and nothing happend ... ports are still closed... Also I've set my computer ip to static , tried everything . And portforward.com site isn't helpfull . Also I tried to set Airport Express ( 1st device ) in bridge mode and nothing happend ( after I set it to bridge mode I can't open ports in airport program )
Please is there anyone that can Help me with this ????
Also I want to say that somehow I dont know how, but I managed to open ports in the past
I need to open all necessary ports because If I can't open them - I can't make a server and people can't join . I really really need help I've spent whole today's saturday to get it to work and this won't work !

    Tesserax wrote:

Yes, the Cisco EPC3925 is a combination modem and wireless router or gateway device. This is the device that you would need to configure for port forwarding/mapping.
Then I have connected Airport Express to it with ethernet cable ( It's working as DHCP and NAT I have double nat issue in my airport program I don't know what is this )
A "Double NAT" condition is when you have two or more routers in series where they all have NAT enabled. NAT is a service that is intended to allow you to share one Public IP address with multiple Private network clients. This is what allows you to have more than one computer on your local network have the ability to share an Internet access.
Since you have your AirPort Express connected to the Cisco by Ethernet AND the Express is configured to have NAT enabled is why you are getting a Double NAT warning.
Normally you would want all downstream routers to be reconfigured as bridges (NAT & DHCP disabled).
also Airport Express is set to create a Wi-Fi network, then I have connected Airport Extreme with Wi-fi and set to exceed wi-fi network and can't change anything in it , can't open ports etc. etc.
You will need to reconfigure the Express as a bridge. The fact that you have configured the Extreme to extend its wireless range is fine.
Also I've been looking in Airport Express ( the 1st device ) and I saw that there I can open ports , but I opened them and nothing happend ... ports are still closed
You do not want to open ports on the Express. Again, if you reconfigure it as a bridge you won't need to as all of its ports will be opened.
Ok I understand what u said, so I set my airport Express 1st device in bridge mode - if I do that I can surf internet without problems etc. Then when I set it to bridge mode my computer gets adress 192.168.1.X ( My computer gets 13 and I've set it to be static ) so my computer is 192.168.1.13 then -> I open ports for example 2700-27015 ( for steam ) in my router cisco website witch is 192.168.1.1 and in ip adress label I put my computer adress 192.168.1.13 after I do this I reset the router and turn it back on after all this everything should work fine and my ports should be open right?? Well..I've tried it.. after this I can surf internet without problems of course but my ports are still closed ... Im checking them on http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and it says they are closed I've tried with pultiple ports such as 80 .. and it just won't work I don't know why..
Also someone told me to use DMZ on and in ip adress put WAN ip of my airport express ( if its NOT set in bridge mode ) and open ports for my airport ( also I tried to open for my computer too ) - It doesn't work
Please friend tell me you can help me ..

  • WRT54GS Ver 3 wont forward ports.

My WRT54GS won't forward ports after a reformat. I have done proper port forwarding before and followed the same process of forwarding a port. I also set a static IP to be sure I am opening the right IP. Using the Utorrent checker (http://www.utorrent.com/testport?port=6881) and www.canyouseeme.org i am unable to see any ports. But when I run Utorrent, it magically opens the port its using without issue. I do not know what the issue is and any help would be vastly appreciated.

  • Linksys keep prompting for username and password when trying to forward port

As when we want to access the linksys router homepage we enter 192.168.1.1, and than we enter our user name and password. This is a normal step. But lately when i wanna forward a port and change the last 3 digit of the ip address, eg. to 101, i keep getting a promt for my user name and password but when i enter it correctly, it sill prompt me no matter whats. I used to forward port with no problem but do not know why this problem started to arise. Can anyone help me with this?
Btw i am using Linksys B router. THANKS

were u using the default password ?? because there is a possibility that someone in your neighbourhood must have connected to the wireless network and changed the router login password..
apart from this i don't see any reason of the old router password not working ..

  • Forward Ports

    I have a Linksys EA6900 Router.
I'm setting up a security system  with IP cameras and need 4 ports opened.
I'm trying to forward ports. I had to open port 80 for my crameras, I entered the information in the single port fordwarding section and it opened fine. I entered port 8200 with the same iP address I used for port 80 but won't open. But I can change the Ip address for port 8200 then it opens.
I opened 3 ports with the same IP address I used to open port 80 in port range forwarding and it worked.
My question is because I'm using IP cameras should I use the IP address of the each camera or the DVR for the cameras or the router?
    Thanks for the help

I looked up what you gave me but there just isn't any useful information regarding the system.
The IP Camera must be streaming video to the NVR so it has something to record.
Check to see if the NVR has a website or remote access you can use on your local network. Then use port forwarding to make those services of the NVR available to you off site.
Another option would be to use different external ports to each IP Camera.
    Ex:
    Camera 1 Port Forward rule:
External Port 10001 to internal Camera 1 IP Address port 80
    Camera 2 Port Forward rule:
External Port 10002 to internal Camera 2 IP Address port 80
    Etc................
    To remote access Camera 1:
    http://your-public-ip:10001
    To remote access Camera 2:
    http://your-public-ip:100012
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • How to forward port 25565?

I'm trying to run a minecraft server, and whenever I try to forward my port in port mapping in network preferences, I still get a "port 25565 is closed" on a port checking website. Putting my ip in the interenet browser does not load any setting either

The main router is my 1 generation connected to my Ethernet/modem
So this TC gets the public IP address? Please check the summary page of the TC that it has a public not private wan IP.
The extend network TC is bridged so that doesn't matter. The only place you forward ports is the main TC if it is the main router of the network.
Post the screen shots of the setup of port forwarding on that.

  • Port forward/ Port trigger?????????????

ok.......How do I use them? Triggered Range start port? to end port? Forwarded Range start point? to end point? Would it be the same forwarded ports? do I put the same port # in all for areas? I'm working with WRT54GS ver. 6
I have port forwarded two ports. How do I use the port triggering?

hi , yes you can specify the same Port # all along....will not create any issues....however if you have enabled port forwarding for a particular port....you will not be able to use that same port for port triggering..

  • WRT300N Not forwarding ports

I am trying to forward ports 2934 and 2935 to use with Falcon 4.0. About a month ago my ISP(Rogers) provided us with a new modem to replace our very old one. Now, I am not able to forward any ports, I know how to forward them and have done it in the past, but it now does not want to work at all. I tried scanning the ports that I have opened but it says they are closed. Is this a problem with the router, or is it the modem causing this? If it is the router, is there a way to fix this? It is very frustrating.

Try first the connection or the Ports are opened for Modem or not ...
if not then talk to your Internet Service  Provider ...
if yes .. then make sure that you are using static Ip for ports forwarding .....
Also you can check for upgraded firmware also ....
