Issues following SP2010 to SP2013 Upgrade - Password Prompt

Hello,
I have upgraded a SharePoint site from SP2010 to SP2013 and everything is working fine apart from the fact that whenever I create a new document I am prompted for username and password.  I can save the credentials but after rebooting the PC it forgets
the authentication and prompts again.
I have set up new sites on the same server and they do not have this issue.
I have the site address listed in the Local Intranet zone and everything is the same as what it was when running the SP2010 site.
Help!

what type of template you using? what authentication method using it? new sites are on the same web app or different web app?

  • Possible cause of Address Book & Mail issues following 10.5.5 upgrade

    Dear all,
Upgrading to 10.5.5 caused problems with Address Book on my computers.
In my situation, the problem was due to 'Smart Groups' with NOT conditionals. The existence of 2 such smart groups caused Address Book to become unresponsive and ThunderBird/Mail to crash as they were unable to look up the Address Book.
This may (or may not) have been the cause of the problem. I am also running The Missing Sync and the Google Maps plugins -- so there may have been other conflicts. All I can say is that by rolling back to 10.5.4, removed the offending smart groups and rolling the forward into an empty 10.5.5 Address book fixed my problems.
Unfortunately, even selecting the problem smart group then means that Address Book becomes unresponsive. Unfortunately quitting (which I was still able to do) and re-opening still leaves Address Book unresponsive -- as there is a default selected group set in com.apple.AddressBook.plist.
HOW TO AVOID - BEFORE UPGRADING TO 10.5.5
Remove any smart groups with NOT conditionals when in 10.5.4.
NOTE: Exporting to an Address Book archive format still includes the smart group definitions. While this will not fix your problem, it will give you something to work with ... back in 10.5.4.
    HOW TO FIX -- DISCLAIMERS
It was possible to fix -- but I do not know if this is a sound approach (clobbering Address Book files? -- probably not) AND if you do not know your way around some key directories YOU COULD CREATE ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS.
It would be advisable to try testing this on a temporary account first. This means you are also going to need to know about permissions -- Address Book Archives appear to be some kind of package format.
HOW TO FIX - IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO A 10.5.4 MAC
It is possible to create an Address Book Archive from 10.5.5 and then import that into a 10.5.4 account, remove the offending smart groups, re-export as an Address Book archive and then import this into 10.5.5.
However, to do this does involve editing the relevant Addressbook.plist files (10.5.5), then exporting as an Address Book Archive (from 10.5.5), importing (to 10.5.4), editing (in 10.5.4) and then exporting (from 10.5.4), clobbering the 10.5.5 Address Book database and then importing (into an empty 10.5.5) Address Book database.
HOW TO FIX - IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A 10.5.4 MAC
It is a little simpler (fewer steps) but you will loose all of you groups. In this situation you will need to export all of your address book entries as a vcard file (better export an Address Book Archive as well -- just to be safe), clobber your 10.5.5 Address book and then re-import the vcard file.
HOW TO FIX - IF YOU HAVE A 10.5.4 BACKUP
Alternatively, roll back to before the 10.5.5 upgrade (ie to 10.5.4). Edit your smart groups. Export an Address Book Archive (just in case) and then re-apply the 10.5.5 patch.
    GOOD LUCK
When I contacted AppleCare they were very helpful but did not have any visibility of this particular problem.

After I sent this initial post I did some more testing.
Creating a new Smart Group in my now working 10.5.5 address book which has a NOT conditional caused Address Book to lock-up again.
My Smart Group was pretty simple -- 'list all cards that are NOT a member of any group'.
So, the steps in the posting above do NOT fix the problem, they only identify a particular type of Smart Group which will cause a problem and how to get a version of Address Book working again.
I have not gone back and undertaken a thorough set of tests. I am just not going to create any new Smart Groups without first creating an Address Book Archive -- or alternatively overriding Library/Application Support/AddressBook from a Time Machine backup if there is a problem.

  • Ssh: /etc/issue display between login and password prompts

    Hi All,
I currently have ssh installed on one a Solaris 10 (non-global) zone. I have configured the sshd_config to run on protocol 2 and unhashed the 'Banner /etc/issue' parameter.
When I attempt to log into this zone via ssh I get (in this order)...
    1. A login prompt
    2. The message I have put in /etc/issue
    3. A password prompt.
Is there some further configuration I need to consider here?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

Sorry, it's probably worth mentioning that what i would ultimately like to do is have the message in /etc/issue display itself prior to asking for a login, not after as it currently is.
    Thanks.

  • Time Machine multiple password prompts after 10.5.6 upgrade

Wanted to see if anybody else has noticed this behavior change since upgrading to 10.5.6. I back my MacBook Pro to a network drive shared from my Mac Mini. With 10.5.5 and earlier, I'd mount the network drive, and then set Time Machine to use it. I'd get one password prompt, for the initial mount of the network drive.
Post-10.5.6, I mount the network drive (password prompt #1), and then tell Time Machine to use that drive, and I get another password prompt from Time Machine. I'm not sure why this is, and it seems like a behavior change. Has anybody else noticed these double password prompts after going to 10.5.6?
    --Bernie

I have the exact same problem since upgrading to 10.5.6. The time machine arrows start spinning, and then stop with the exclamation point. I look at the dropdown and it says "Latest Backup: Delayed"
When I open Time Machine Preferences, it tells me I have 32.2 GB of 232.7 GB available. And in latest backup, it says "Failed" with the little "i" in the circle. When I click the "i" it tells me "The backup volume could not be mounted."
When I actually look at the contents of the drive (which definitely is mounted) I see a 200GB file (the correct size) named [name of my computer]_[some serial number].sparsebundle. The stuff in brackets is replaced since I don't know if that's the sort of thing that I should post.
What seems odd (although I haven't looked at the volume enough in the past to know if it is odd), is that both the modified date and the creation date are March 27, 2008 which, I believe, is when I first started using time machine.
The only other thing on that drive is a folder, "untitled folder"
That's it. I'm not sure about whether it's trying to backup when not connected, but I think I remember that.
Do these specifics fit with what you can see about the current state of your backup?

  • Password prompts - Exchange 2013 RTM vs. [Outlook 2007 & Outlook 2010] - Fully patched

    Exchange 2013 RTM  - Multi-Tenant
    ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
    InternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
    IISAuthenticationMethods           : {Basic, Ntlm, Negotiate}
Clients using Outlook Anywhere only, not Exchange domain members.
    1. Windows XP SP3 (fully patched), Outlook 2007 SP3 + Nov 2012 Patch - When launching Outlook prompts for password only once.
    2. Windows 7 (fully patched), Outlook 2010 (fully patched) - When launching Outlook doesn't prompt for password.
    I'm aware of this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956531
The goal - Eliminate issue with password prompts for Windows XP.
Any chance resolving this? CU install? Anything else?
    Thanks.
    Memento Mori

    Hi,
Based on my experience, the credential issue is mostly likely caused by authentication method.
And I recommend the following troubleshooting:
    1. Change LmCompatibilityLevel on the windows XP client to a value of 2 or 3:
    a. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
    b. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\
    c. In the pane on the right side, double-click lmcompatibilitylevel.
    d. In the Value data box, type a value of 2 or 3 that is appropriate for your environment, and then click OK.
    e. Exit Registry Editor.
    f. Restart your computer
    2. Reset the windows credential store.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

  • Exchange 2003 - Continous password prompts in Outlook 2010

    Hi.
A customer is experiencing continous password prompts in Outlook 2010. Outlook is configured against the Exchange 2003 BE server (FQDN) and Outlook Anywhere is configured to sync.customer.com with a valid 3rd party certificate.
Outlook is configured with Negotitate as Logon network security, setting this to basic/NTLM does not help. Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP is set and configured with sync.customer.com, and msstd:sync.customer.com. All points checked except "On
fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP", authentication is set to Basic. Changing authentication from Basic to NTLM seem to make the problem vanish.
Outlook Anywhere is functioning correctly and only prompting once for password when connecting from an external network. ISA is not configured for NTLM/Kerberos.
Exchange 2003 is located in main site in a resource domain. The prompts occur more often in two remote sites than the main site.
When opening Outlook RPCDiag shows established connection to BE and Active Directory, sometimes with prompt and sometimes without. After about 5 minutes the prompt may reappear, entering password does not remove the prompt, clicking cancel puts Outlook in
the "Need password" state, clicking this usually successfully connect Outlook to Exchange. Other times this just cause the prompt to reappear.
I´ve tried adding the internal and/or external IP address of the ISA server as sync.customer.com in the host-file on a client and forcing RPC/HTTPS through the DisableRpcTcpFallback, still getting the password prompts.
We have also been through the KB975363, changing the MaxConcurrentAPI on all domain controllers.
Finally, we know Exchange 2003 is in a unsupported state so there is no need to comment this.

    Hi,
Firstly, I'd like to explian, basic authentication requires the user to enter domain, user name, and password. Thus, it's an expected behavior that the credential prompts once when the authentication is set to basic and it disappears when it's NTLM authentication:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996225(v=exchg.65).aspx
For the issue that the credential keeps prompting, I'd like to confirm if Outlook 2003 works well. If yes, you can refer to the following article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927612/en-us
If all outlook clients prompt credential, you can check the RPC over HTTP connectivity by ExRCA:

  • How to prevent the regular password prompts when watching a movie on my MacBook Air?

    Hello everyone.
I recently started renting movies from the iTunes store and watched them on my MacBook Air since I don't have an appleTV. (In fact on my TV connected via HDMI cable to the MacBook but I think that doesn't change the cause)
Now every now and then a automatic password prompt kicks in overlaying the movie, so I have to stand up each time and type in the administrator password in the middle of the movie. This happens maybe about every 30-45 mins. Needless to say this is extremely unpleasant when watching a movie. Unfortunately I cannot tell you which programm causes the prompt since I always close all other programms other than iTunes.
Is there a way to temporarily prevent all automatic password prompts?
I hope you can help me,
    Greetings jonezdotcom

This is taken from Mac Help.  It should guide you in solving your issue.
Changing the way users log in
You can require users to enter a password to log in to your computer, or you can turn on automatic login, which automatically logs in a specified user each time the computer starts up.
Automatic login is useful if you’re the only person who uses your computer, and the computer is always in a safe and secure place. If you have more than one user account on your computer, or if you’re concerned about the security of information on your computer, you should require users to log in with a password. Automatic login is not available for accounts that are using FileVault encryption.
If you require users to log in, you can change what they see in the login window. You can show a list of users with a picture next to each name and a place to enter the password, or require users to enter both their user name and password.
To change the way users log in:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Accounts.
    Open Accounts preferences
Click the lock icon to unlock it, and then type an administrator name and password.
    Click Login Options.
    Do one of the following:
To require users to log in whenever the computer starts up, choose Off from the “Automatic login” pop-up menu.
To have the computer automatically log in to a particular account when the computer starts up, choose the account from the “Automatic login” pop-up menu, enter an administrator password, and click OK.
IMPORTANT: Automatic login allows anyone to get immediate access to your computer simply by restarting it. If you turn on automatic login, make sure the computer doesn’t automatically log in to an account with administrator privileges.
Next to the ”Display login window as,” select how you want the login window to appear:
To have users select an account from a list in the login window, select “List of users.”
To require users to type their user account name and password, select “Name and password.”
To show each user’s password hint, select the “Show password hints” checkbox.
If you turn on automatic login for yourself, the computer opens your account when it starts up. If you log out, other users see a login window to log in to their user accounts.
The Login Options pane of Accounts preferences
Use the Login Options pane of Accounts preferences to change the way the login window behaves to be more secure or set up the way users will log in to their accounts
    PREFERENCE EXPLANATION
    Automatic login
To have the computer automatically log in to an account at startup, choose the account from the pop-up menu. This is less secure than requiring users to log in, since it allows anyone to use the computer just by turning it on.
To require users to select an account and enter a password to log in, choose Off from the pop-up menu.
Automatic login is not available for accounts that are using FileVault encryption.
    Display login window as
Select “List of users” to have users choose their accounts from a list in the login window.
Select “Name and password” to require users to type their name and password in the login window.

  • Mavericks Outlook 2011 Password Prompt (Solution)

I have a Macbook Pro running Mavericks.  Outlook 2011 kept pushing the password prompt to the screen.  I have searched and searched for a solution.  I have seen the following solutions offered:
    Issues with Keychain corruption
    Outlook autodiscovery
    Deleting files
    Reinstalling Outlook
    Reinstalling Mavericks
I'm not doing any reinstalls because until I installed Mavericks I didn't have Outlook problems.  So reinstalling Outlook and the OS was not an option for me because I do so much work on my Mac.
But I'm in IT so I decided to begin to dig deep into this because regardless of the proposed solutions offered there was still someone in the thread say, "I tried this but it didn't work for me."  I too was one of them.
The distinction I needed popped into to my face looking at another thread but the user didn't answer the guys question. He simply asked the complaining user, "Are you on wireless, 802.1x?"  That was it.
I was on wireless 802.1x environment.
Our wireless controller does authenticate to the Active Directory server.
I did use the iPhone Configuration Utility to create my wifi profile.
I did import the CAs needed for my profile.
    My profile does work.
But what about the Exchange portion of my profile?
The Exchange portion of my profile was EMPTY?  The password kept coming back because my user/machine level authentication was being managed by my wireless profile.  Due to this my profile took responsibility for authenticating to my WIFI connection as well as my Exchange account.  In the end the profile seems to takes precedence in the 802.1x authentication.
I went back the iPhone Configuration Utility, clicked on my profile, clicked on the Exchange and filled in my domain\username, my email address, my password and a few other boxes.  I exported my profile to my desktop and clicked on it.  Since my profile still had the same name I was asked if I wanted to "Overwrite" my existing profile to which I responded, "Yes"
Since yesterday I have not had anymore issues with Outlook or Office Communicator.
To add I still disabled App Nap.
I hope this helps anyone.  If you have migrated from MLion to Mavericks running MS Office you will have this problem if you are working in an 802.1x wireless environment.

I've included a pic of the iPhone Configuration Utility showing the Exchange section.  I hope this helps someone.

  • Sudo root Password Prompt

Hi, I've built a widget that allows the user to modify the power settings wake-up schedule.
I did this through the pmset Unix command, like this:
    widget.system("/usr/bin/sudo pmset repeat wake MTWRFSU "hours+":"+minutes":00", null);
I am forced to use sudo, because OS X's security settings block the widget's access to pmset. The issue I have is that since the sudo command returns a password prompt in the Terminal (in the Unix console), on the user side nothing happens, when they use the widget. The whole process is cancelled due to an invisible password request.
The question I am asking is, is there a way to prompt the user for the root password through OS X's default user password dialog box, instead of prompting through the background running Unix console? Is there a Unix or AppleScript command that does this?
And if there isn't, is there a way to send password information (that was entered in the widget) directly to the Unix console?

Applescript allows you to run a shell command using "Administrator privileges" (basically like sudo, only better).
The following AppleScript will run "/bin/ls -la" with root privileges by prompting the user in a standard Authorization Services dialog:
do shell script "/bin/ls -la" with administrator privileges
(Note: you do not need to use sudo in there anywhere, that's handled for you automatically; simply list the process you want to run and the options).
If you knew the user's password prior to running this command, you could do the following:
do shell script "/bin/ls -la" with administrator privileges password "myPlainTextPassword"
Note that this isn't as secure as letting AuthorizationServices handle the password prompt.
You may want to play around in Script Editor (/Applications/AppleScript/) until you get the command syntax down right. Then, you can use the "osascript -e" shell command to execute the script from your widget.
For example, the following shell command would have basically the same effect as executing the above-mentioned AppleScript:
osascript -e "do shell script "/bin/ls -la" with administrator privileges"
So, to review, in case your head is starting to swim a bit... You're executing a shell command (osascript) to execute an AppleScript which in turn uses AuthorizationServices (prompt for password) to perform a shell command with root privileges.
    Hope this helps...

  • Audit failures on Exchange 2010 and password prompts in outlook

Starting last Thursday after I patched my domain controllers and other Windows systems and rebooted my Outlook users are being prompted for username/password continuously and my Exchange security logs reflect audit failures for NTLM which I think is triggering
the prompt. The same users also have an audit success via Kerberos.
If the password prompt it cancelled Outlook can send and receive email just fine but the box continues to pop up occasionally.
I've worked on this for several days now and can't figure it out. The audit logs on the DC's are clean with no audit failures.
The issue is also affecting Visual Studio users who log into a Team Foundation Server, they are continually prompted for credentials and can't get in and the audit logs show the same thing.
I don't think this is an Exchange specific issue but more of a broader authentication problem.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Hi,
It is a known issue if you install the following security updates on March 10, 2015:
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3002657
The user would be prompted with credentials when NTLM is used to authenticate these Active Directory domain users and services.
We can remove this patch from all the DCs manually and check whether the issue persists.

  • Outlook 2010 users getting Password Prompt until shared mailboxes are removed

    Hi,
some (around 20) of my 3000 outlook 2010 users are getting Password Promts while using outlook.
This started end of last week without any change to the environment.
The prompt goes away if we unmount and remount additional mailboxes they have mounted.
Any idea what could be causing this or where to start debugging?
Backend is Exchange 2013 and 2007 in migration.
    Thanks for every idea

    Hi,
How did you mount additional mailboxes? Via File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Double-click the Exchange account > More Settings > Advanced tab > Add?
Are the additional mailboxes hosted on the same version of Exchange server with thoese mailboxes with the password prompting issue? If this is the case, this issue often happens if you have a hybrid deployment of Exchange Server. To resolve the issue,
please have a look at the following KB article and follow the instructions to fix it:

First, you can try to clear the credential cache in Credential Manager to check if it helps. See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2762344/en-us
In addition, you can refer to the following link to get more troubleshooting steps for this issue:

Why is my Acrobat 9 not installing on my computer, i have enterd the password that came with the installation but i am being asked about an upgrade password, why, and i am being offerd a 30 day trile

you originally purchased an upgrade to an older acrobat version that was installed on your older computer when you installed the upgrade.  when installing the upgrade on a new computer that does not have that older version installed you will be prompted for the older versions serial number.

  • WEB DMS Office Document Access- Password Prompt

    Dear All,
Business Users are Using MS Office 2007 and MS Office 2003
We have Configured WEB DMS for Development System
In SE80 when CVAW_ENTIRE is Executed and when DIR is Accessed there using Display/Change, All file formats are accesed fine without any password prompt,But While Opening Microsoft Office Documents(.doc,.docx,.xls,.xlsx,.ppt..pptx) from WEB DMS DIR it gives UserName Password Prompt (Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection))....
When i don't enter username and password and press cancel file opens in Read Only Mode...So, i need is by default file shoud open in read only mode without asking unnecessary Password Prompt...Above is applicable when MS Office 2007 is installed in local PC
For Office 2003 the problem is there for .xls,.xlsx,.ppt,.pptx files , however .doc files opens fine and does not ask for any password prompt and opens in read only mode directly.
The above both scenarios for Office 2007 & Office 2003 works fine with Mozilla Firefox Browser and does not prompt for any passwords.
    Help is Required urgently

    Dude
I'm also trying to enable WebDMS. I have already configured in SPRO.
In SE80, pointing on "CVAW_ENTIRE->Pages with Flow Logic->index.htm", when I click on "Test/Execute", a webpage opens but throws an error:
    Business Server Page (BSP) error
    What happened?
Calling the BSP page was terminated due to an error.
