Hello,
I have installed Adobe Captivate 8.0 UK Win on a computer (Win7 professional version) at my work. The installation log file gives the following information :

When I want to launch the application I get the following visual information and can't go further in the launching process.
As the computer I use is an entreprise computer I don't have any rights to change the initial configuration.
Would anybody have an idea of the direction I should take in order to solve the problem ?
Thanks, Best regards,
Etienne

Hello,
Thank you for replying.
1)      I have followed the process you proposed to me.  But I never get the mention (of that kind of mention) : Having Trouble connecting to Internet.  So I can’t go further.  It seems to be impossible to install the software with an online connection but it seems to be impossible to install it without an offline connection as well.
2)      A have an new question : Which ports and protocols should we open/follow to make the installation possible ?
I have asked our IT department to investigate the point 1.  I am not sure they will find a solution and we may have to stop and give up.
Thanks in advance for replying to my second question.
Best regards.

  • Adobe Captivate 3 Serial Number/Windows 7 Problem

    Hi,
Wonder if anyone on here could help me.  We have a volume license for Adobe Captivate 3 and it is installed and working fine on several XP machines.  However when I try and install the same software, with the same serial number that has been accepted everywhere else, but on a Windows 7 machine, it no longer see's the serial number as valid...
    Help!?
    Marky

    Hi there
Sorry, but I'm not clear on what you want to know. Are you asking if moving to 5 from 3 is considered an upgrade and therefore qualifies for upgrade pricing from Adobe? If so, you will need to ask Adobe Sales on that. If you are asking about how to go about upgrading a Captivate 3 project so it becomes a Captivate 5 project, it's pretty tough to accomplish.
First you have to open Captivate 5.
Once Captivate 5 is open you open the Captivate 3 project.
The Captivate 3 project is converted to a Captivate 5 project.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Since I will not be installing the actual software on my computer, can I use Adobe captivate 8 on a windows vista system?

    @

No, Adobe subscription software still installs and runs locally, just like the perpetually licensed products.
The Cloud part is the licensing which is stored and administered remotely.

  • Unable to open Adobe Captivate 8 after install - Windows firewall prompt

    Hi Guys,
We've just installed Captivate 8 for a user and they cant open without getting the Windows Firewall prompt. Don't really want to give our users admin rights just so they can run an application.
Have googled the problem and it seems to be a known issue without an Adobe authorized workaround or fix.
Your assistance in this matter is appreciated.
    Thanks and regards.
    Bryan.

Further to this, a job has been logged with Adobe support. As a temporary workaround if you let Captivate fully load in the background before cancelling the firewall prompt it can then be used.

  • I am trying to install the trial version of Adobe Captivate 8 on a Windows 7 machine.

The installer says open file "Captivate_8_x64LS21.exe" It then  extracts files but gives me an error message "problem occurred extracting some files.  Check available space and the write privileges on the destination folder." Neither of those should be a problem. I have 55 gigs of space and I am the administrator for my home computer. Can someone help?

    Hello Randy,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
What is the size of the other file (.7z) ?
Try to extract the installation setup on a different folder.

  • Output internalServerReporting.php no results! Adobe Captivate 7 64 bits - Windows 8 64bit

    Greetings to all.
I created a simple questionnaire with two true and false questions, set up the quiz results as this link: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/captivate/cp/using/WS365a66ad37c9f510-326cdb51265c9c0730-8000. html
Correctly set up the web server with php (XAMPP), but to finish answering the questions and post the results retornardo is not the question.
    Follows the xml generated:

      <CourseName value="CourseTest"/>
      <LearnerName value="Name Test"/>

    </Course>
Another detail is that the implementation of the questionnaire itself (HTML5 and Flash), to review the questions answered, reports that no response has been answered, and during the questionnaire was answered.
Does anyone know what is happening? If it is a bug or configuration or another?
    Thank you.

So looking further into things, it seemed to have started happening since I installed Steam. While steams loader was active in the background it would cause the flash audio to drop out. I don't know any reason why it would cause this, but have just disabled steam from starting up at all. Any insight on why these two programs would clash and cause audio issues would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rob

I hope you can help me.  I purchased adobe captivate 8 on line and when I click on the email link to download, it comes up with 7 programs, some are 64 bit and some are not, my computer is 32 bit.  I am not sure which of these 7 to download?  All or just the 4 non 64 bit?

I tracked down the problem with the download and installation, my windows 7 was missing a file and after reinstalling windows everything worked out.  The first 32 bit program in their list was used.  I hope this can help others.

  • Firewall warning when launching Captivate 8 on a Windows 8 machine

Just installed Captivate on a 64bit machine with windows 8.1.  I keep getting a firewall warning dialogue each time I launch the program.  How do I make it stop???

I was having this same issue with Cp8 in Windows 7. I contacted TCS support and they helped me solve it for me. I asked if they would be willing to reply here with a link to download the fix, but they said "We don’t know, when we will be providing the link to the file, however we will be updating about the same on our forum and hopefully can come up with the link to the file shortly."
However they don't have an issue with me posting it, so here it is.
In C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 8\SWF_Components\ws rename CivitWEb.exe to CivitWeb_bak.exe, or move it to your desktop.
    Download CivitWeb.txt from my Dropbox.
Move the .txt version to the \ws folder above and change the .txt extension to .exe.
    Launch Captivate.
Once I placed the file, I no longer got the firewall warnings, and no more buildup of cp session folders. I was also having an issue with browser previews not working, but this filefixed that too. They said that with this file in place, Edge Inspect preview wouldn't work, but it is working for me.
Hopefully this will help others until Adobe has an official update or fix. I don't know if it will work with Windows 8. Of course this is at your own risk. Good luck.

  • ADOBE CAPTIVATE 5 LMS course launch #Scene_1

I have an adobe captivate course my associate has created in Captivate 5.  This course is just like everyone of his previous courses he has created.  But this course starts on a page title captivatecourse.htm   and after about 30 seconds to 1 minute redirects the URL to captivatecourse.htm#Scene_1.
notice: this redirection does not happen in the mozilla or firefox browsers.  Only in Internet Explorer.
OK SO THIS IS THE PROBLEM.
We us a inline frame to launch our training courses inside of our LMS.  This little redirection " #Scene_1 " in the browser is causing the course to behave terribly and causing the course to stop responding.  Sometimes it just causes the content to jump around.
When this happens it also causes the sytem to not bookmark and not save scores.  Actually all LMS activity stops responding after it hits #Scene_1.
I was wondering if anyone has run into this problem with a CAPTIVATE COURSE and what is the work around.  To note: the workaround  of opening the course in a new browser window is not an option right now.  Management wants the course to stay within the same browser window.
    -doug lubey of louisiana

how is this causing a problem.
when the captivate course /javascript changes the url / page title from coursexxx.htm to coursexxx.htm#Scene_1; it causes the javascript to load a swf file some how.  it appears to be a bug in the captivate course / swf files /javascript files or the combination their of.
What the #Scene_1 is doing: it is causing the course to load
    A 2nd time
    A 3rd time
    A 4th tine
    Etc..
I think the problem is caused by the captivate course causing some javascript to run:
because the Url changes to  coursexxxx.htm#Scene_1  and the title of the course in the browser
also changes to course title + scene 1
    search reference captivate 5  year:2010
problems running a captive course using inline frames
captivate training course url is changed once the course is launched
course posted as a scorm 2004
i tested this problem in multiple lms systems and it is a consistent problem when playing the content within a inline frame

  • Unable to Launch Adobe Captivate

When I select Adobe Captivate in Programs (Windows 7), the Adobe Login screen displays and prompting me to enter my Adobe login for Adobe Captivate.  I enter in my valid username/pwd and nothing happends.  The login pop-up disappears and nothing happens.  I haven't used Captivate in about a month.  I originally had a trial version and then bought the license. I do recall entering in the license when I first used.  Now I am unable to launch the application.

I can not attach any files to email or Facebook. When I go to "browse" the window comes up and disappears immediately. I updated browser and Adobe Flash. Restarted computer and zapped pram. any ideas? Please help!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by Find My Mac.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
