Lenovo software instillation problems

I have Lenovo System Update on my W530 which I upgraded from win 7 to win 8. When I had win 7 installed, Lenovo System update installed ALL the random software and drivers (intel widi, intel rst, drivers, ect). I notice that on win 8 it misses a lot of the drivers and software. For example, it did not install the Intel WIDI driver or the SD Card reader driver. I had to go to the Lenovo site and download them manually. I successfully installed some of the missing items from the drivers and software page for Win 8. (
Two of them will not install though. It claims to have installed successfully and reboots my computer. Upon reboot, I do not see the programs in my start screen.
Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Notebook. I read in this form that the Power manager is not available for systems that upgraded from win 7. I'm not sure if this is what caused the instillation to fail, or if something else is wrong. It's difficult for me to believe an executable is able to tell I don't have a win 8 OEM key and therefore won't install.
ThinkVantage Active Protection System for Windows 8 (64-bit), 7 (64-bit), Vista (64-bit) - ThinkPad. Same problem and question as the Lenovo Power Management. Except this one wasn't listed in the Lenovo staff thread as not being available for win 7 systems upgraded to win 8.
Basically I want to know if these two programs are installing b/c my system is upgraded from win 7 to win 8 or if I'm doing something wrong. Any help is appreciated.

For me, System Update never worked since Windows 8 was released: no drivers, no software, no BIOS update, nothing.
Just two days ago, it showed for the first time a new Hotkey soft. But all the other software is not being displayed.
Since most software is not necessary and most drivers works worse than the default ones, that might be a good thing.

Please help. Lenovo Software or driver problem

I am having a problem with my Haswell Levono Ideapad Yoga 11S. Anytime the computer "updates" in any way, my SDCard slot, Both USB ports and the Touchscreen stop working. I originally thought it was a windows update issue causing it, but its not. I disabled all windows updates and it has not done one. I thought that fixed the issue, but then I uninstalled a software that required a reboot, and the issue started again. Each time this happens I have to do a restore point back to a restore point I made on 5/22/2015 in order to get it working, so I know its a software or driver issue. Pretty sure its some of this Lenovo software cauding the issue, or a Lenovo driver. I get two messages that pop-up in lenovo style pop -ups. #10engineinitializationfailed and also #10Motioncontrolerror or something when this happens. Also something pops up in my Device Manager as "unknown" but there is no way to tell what it is. Can someone please help me? My last post on here died without any comments at all. It seems like Lenovo just will not help me with their product they sold me. Am I just out of luck? Do I need to stop buying Lenovo products? I dont know... It seems so. Lenovo, answer me.

It looks like Windows Update tries to update a wrong driver and fails ? The update is probably an optional one, because most of the drivers updates are.You know you don't have to accept all the optional updates. You can even tell Windows not to show them anymore: right-click on the update, and choose not to show it anymore.

[T410s] Lenovo Software doesn't work for me

The following software is installed on my system: Office Prof. Plus 2010 (64bit), SQL Server 2008 R2 (64bit), Visual Studio Ultimate 2010, Sybase Powerdesigner 15.2, Adobe Reader 9 and Kaspersky IS 2011.
Since some days nearly the whole Lenovo Software doesn't work. The only exception is System Update 4.
When I try to start e.g. Lenovo Toolbox I get the error message "ThinkVantage Toolbox doesn't work...". A View into the Windows solution center offers the following message:

The rest of the software mentioned above works great and fast. Only the Lenovo software doesn't work. This is rather annoying, because I can't change e.g. important property values in the power manager.
I've deinstalled and installed (manually) again graphics driver as well as the troubleshooting software without success.
What shell I do now?

You found me! Thanks for the logs. They confirmed what I was suspecting: a font problem is causing any application built on Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) to crash. Based on our research there are two potential issues. The fixes are pretty easy.
One or more of your installed fonts does not have a proper date/time
The Registry may have some invalid font path entries
To Detect and Fix the Font Invalid/Missing Date Problem
Open an elevated command prompt (CMD.EXE) and navigate to C:\Windows\Fonts\
Save a font listing to your desktop with the command: DIR *.* /tw /od > %USERPROFILE%\desktop\fontlist.txt
3. Open fontlist.txt with notepad.
4. Remove any fonts with a missing or invalid date (January 1, 1601 for example). Easiest way to do this is by opening Windows Explorer, going to the fonts folder (C:\Windows\Fonts\), and removing the offending fonts.
5. Open LTT or one of the other TVTs to see if the problem is solved. If not, continue with the next section.
To Detect and Fix the Font Registry Problem
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. I cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk!
Open the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE)
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
Scan the "Data" column for each font looking for any illegal path characters

X301 and pre-installed Lenovo Software

Hello to everybody.
I'm new in this community.
I've been a ThinkPad user since 1997 (600, R52, T60p) and now I've bought a X301 with Win 7 32 bit.
Comparing the Laptop with my previous T60p with Win XP, I have some doubts about the configuration and the preinstalled software (Think Vantage Tools) wich comes with it. Maybe someone here can help me.
My doubts are:
- why is not possible to get the productivity center and get it in association with the blue button?
- why is the Active Protection software pre-installed (and loaded at startup), when the HD is an SSD one?
- the GPS doesn't work (Only one time I've got one satellite in an open environment, where my phone gets full GPS coverage, otherweise normal is 0 satellite)
- the fingerprint recognition at startup is very very slow
- every Lenovo software, when launched, opens very slowly (minutes).
This is the situation I've found out of the box. I'm wondering whether the Laptop has left the factory with a wrong configuration (I mean, for Win 7 and SSD) and if I would be able to set everything in the right status through the use of System-Update.

Acrobat can be installed in 64 bits machine.

Lenovo S90u "Security problem" and network problems

I recently unistalled the security application (lenovo safecenter?) from my lenovo s90u phone. After this every time i turn on the phone there is an annoying message "Security problem" at the bottom left corner and the android "robot" at the top left corner of the screen, Reset to factory didn't solved the problem as also and a lenovo safecenter apk which i downloaded from a link i found here at the "Lenovo S850 security problem" topic. Also there is a serious problem with network connections as wifi and/or data connection are turning on at spear times without my permission. Every time i turn the phone on data connection in on and although i turn it off it turns on again (or the wifi) at spear times.Can you suggest any solution?

IPod updater software download problem

Hi. I got the !/folder icon on my Nano. Plugged it into my computer and reset it (but still get !/folder). Got a message that software version 1.1 was available. Am unable to download software. When I click the "download iPod updater software" button on the ipod updater download webpage, the download dialogue starts but no progress is made in the download. I've tried many times (using both the "save to folder" option and the "run" option, but the download stops as soon as it begins [little icons of pieces of paper fly through the air and into a folder but no data!]. I waited overnight in case the download site was swamped and tried again, but the same thing happened. What could be the problem?
1. Reset your iPod. Check
2. Retry with a different USB port. Check
3. Restart your computer. Check
4. Reinstall iPod and iTunes software. Problem!
5. Restore your iPod.

FYI: Problem resolved. I still don't know what the problem was, but I have finally managed to download the updater software.
Using the updater to install the new software solved the problem with the iPod, BTW.

DLL errors @ boot after Lenovo software update. (E530)

Hi, My laptop wanted to do a update of the Lenovo software so I let it.
Now every boot up it comes up with two error windows.

Doing the first thing helped with the error messages a little bit. Also, editing the WPA networks allowed me to enter the passwords, which also helped a little with connecting when it wakes from sleep. I just ran software update again yesterday, and Apple now has an Airport Extreme update that addresses compatibility issues with WPA and WPA2 protected networks. However, I still had to reboot my router this morning to connect to the internet. Network diagnostics says that its connected to the network but may not be connected to the internet because it has a self-assigned IP address, and this most often occurs after a long period of being turned off or away from the home network connecting just fine on open networks.
The second thing, Applejack, sounds like a nice tool, but I'd prefer that this thing work the way it's supposed to, especially since it's only a few months old. Glad I bought Applecare.

Install Win7 with no Lenovo software - still switch graphics cards?

I'm thinking of wiping our T500 and installing Win7 Pro without any Lenovo software. Will I still be able to switch between the dual graphics cards (discrete/onboard)? And I assume the special key combinations won't work anymore? Thanks

As long as you install the necessary drivers and software components from the T500 driver matrix, it should be fully functional. That said, you won't benefit from the Enhanced Experience of the Lenovo preload.

Lenovo Software - Where to find?

Hi all,
I need to know where I can find lenovo software.
i have a T410 with Windows 7 enterprise, it's an European standard installation of my customer, and it haven't any burning sofware.
I see that now Burn software is Corel Draw Burn (instead of Record now) , but on Download page I found only patch files.
Where I can find full installation for 64-bit system?

I have the same issue on my iPhone 5s
I've closed the app and re-booted the phone several times but it did not resolve the issue.
Upgrading to iOS 8.0.2 did not resolve it either.
Erasing the iPhone and restoring from a backup did not resolve it.
I'm not sure what else to do.

There are several reports of fixed vulnerabilities in Lenovo software and drivers that I have summarized here
Unfortunately there are no detailed descriptions of these security issues. Currently there are databases like CVE MITRE that collects such reports for any software. Could Lenovo be more specific about these vulnerabilities and add CVE references ?

How to fix Software Update Problem?

I was do some update includes new 10.5.1, iTunes, QuickTime, and many more, but today I test to check new update I got blank list and I was try to do via Terminal and got this message

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
