Logon language and title
Hello all there,
I need to adjust the logon screen of the portal and I have some minor issues I can't find an answer for.
First of all, how do I change the logon language. It should always be English, no matter what the users, browser, ... locale is. Off course I can change all the occurences of logonLocale.get("Key"). But I don't think that's the way to handle this.
Second, I would like to change the title in the browser. At this moment it always says 'SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0'. I tried to change the title tag but that does nothing. Anyone allready done this?
Some help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Christophe
Hi Christophe,
you can set a portal mandatory language (over the user and browser locale) by using the parameter "request.mandatorylanguage" and "request.mandatorycountry" in the prtDefault.properties. Check out this <a href="https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=131422">thread</a> and my there mentioned thread for more info.
As metioned there it's important to restart the J2EE Engine after the changes.
Hope this helps,
Robert

Selection-screen texts and logon language
Hi all,
I'm having reports with english selection texts (Dictionnary ref. is ticked).
So I expect SAP to translate it in all languages automatically, or at least to use english as default value
But when I logon in german, french, russian .... these texts does not appear with their english description, but with the technical one (S_MATNR, ...), which force me to translate them via SE63 ...
Is it normal ? do we need to translate ALL texts of all reports in dozens of languages via SE63 (whereas the english texts is ok for me for all logon languages) ?Hello,
For standard ddic objects also the SAP will propose the corresponding field text.
What u do is in the selection text follow the menu path.
GOTO--->Transaltion.
GIve the Original language = EN
Target language = FR.
Now u can see the
Material
XXXXX - Corresponding text in French.,
Save and active.
Logon in French. You will see the text now.
If useful reward.

BW Report Language differs EP Logon Language
Hi,
I am using a Portal BW Report iview.
The Portal Logon Language is German ("DE")
SAPSSO2 is used for Single Sign On.
The iview BW Report Language is set to
"sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&..." (BEx Query part)
But the SAP BW system displays the report in "DE" (German, i.e. all english Texts are missing)
In the sniffer trace, I can see that the initial http request is done with "sap-language=DE&.."
Any idea is welcomeWe had an Open SAP Call regarding the same issues.
Sap Support suggested to us to implement SPS11 on the BI System to get this solved. They will allow to overwrite the language via query string in SP11 (which also means that you can overwrite it via the respective iView property).
Feedback From SAP Support:
Please understand that SPS11 is a prerequisite for providing this new functionality and we won't be able to downport it to a lower SPS.
Hope this helps.

Maintaining Text Elements in Original vs. Logon Language
For report RFIDPL06, we are adding a new text element. The button "Maintain in Original Language" was clicked and the new text element was added to language "DE".
Our question: How do we switch to "Maintain in Logon Language" so that we can add the new text element in language "EN"?
The RFIDPL06 original language is "DE".
Any help appreciated.
We are using SE38 to maintain the text elements. The new text element is in English so we do not need a translation. We need to be able to maintain the text element in English. The logon language is English but the text elements are in German.
How do we switch to maintain the text elements in English?

1. How you are adding a new text element to a standard report. after getting access key?
If you want to maintain translaction for text element in EN then you need to use transaction code SE63.

How to read user - logon language (Urgent)
Hi All,
I have written the below code to display the language in english if it exists if not in french & so on, but i would like to know how i can read the language in which the user has logged on & use that as the first criteria.
Eg: S_SPRAS = User Logon language
SELECT SINGLE MAKTX FROM MAKT INTO Y_MAKTX
WHERE MATNR = MARC-MATNR
AND SPRAS IN (S_SPRAS,'EN','FR','IT',' ').
Hope my problem is clear, await inputs.
VivekHi,
Let me try to explain the problem
Mtl-A, has description in 3 languages. (En, Fr, It)
Mtl-B, has description in 1 language only. (It)
Mtl-C, has no description
First i want to check for a given mtl if description exists in the user's logon lang, if it does not, then check if description is maintained in English, if not check in French, if not Italian.
Eg1: User logs-in with En language,
Then the description for mtl-A is displayed in english, for Mtl-b description is displayed in Italian (as only italian description is maintained) & for mtl-c no description is displayed as it is not maintained.
Eg2: User logs-in with It language.
Then description for Mtl-A & B is displayed in Italian & for mtl-c it is blank as no description exists
But when i use the below code, the system by default picks up EN which is my default lang, even if i login in French or Italian lang, the description is shown in english only.
SELECT SINGLE MAKTX FROM MAKT INTO Y_MAKTX
WHERE MATNR = MARC-MATNR
AND SPRAS IN (SY-LANGU, 'EN', 'FR', 'IT').
Hope i was able to put across my problem clearly.
Await inputs. -
Displaying smartform output in logon language.
Hi All,
I have a requirement in which I create a smart form in English language. If i logon in a different language, The smartform o/p or layout should be displayed in that logon language.
I have checked se63 but not able to figure out based on logon language
Thanks in advance,
GopinathFirstly, you need to design the smartform in english and make sure the form is avialable in all languages.... and do the necessary translations using SE63 transaction code. ...
transalation steps:
1) SE63 <- tcode
2) translation> abap objects> other long texts
3) Pop-up, double click on forms and styles, and double click on SAP smartforms and do the translations to respective target language from source language.
coming to your second question.
Do necessary changes to the control parameter of the smartform to
cs_control_param-langu = SY-LANGU.
make sure, this changes are done in print program.
If parameter cs_control_param-langu = nast-spras then it takes the language form the message type, which does not suits your requirement.
I hope above information will help you to close the thread.

Multi languages and Special Characters in PI
Hi gurus
Different languages data will be coming from the source xml file and PI has to handle that data and send it to ECC system throguh IDoc Receiver Adapter.
.our scenario is MDM to R/3. Pi file adapter is picking the xml file from source directory path.
the file encoding we have used is "ISo-8859" file type as "TEXT", we have also tried checking by giving the file name as"Binary", but we are still facing the issue.
The special characters which are showing up are Å#ó
i was trying to look at the below mentoined blog , but that blog was not availiale in sdn.
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/9420 [original link is broken]
thanx in advance> i tiried as you suggested, but i do not have the access for the RFC destination in R/3 server.
I mean the RFC destination in PI, not in R/3
> i have a doubt here
> In the xml file received by PI, the entire data will be in English, only for two particular fields the data will be in Foreign Languages(russian, greek or any other langauge). The fields are maintained under International Version Segement.
You have to split the XML, create different IDocs by language and choose an IDoc receiver channel with tied RFC logon language
see SAP note 745030
The customer should consider to use a unicode R/3 system when he wants to use different language descriptions.
In a non-unicode system the texts from other languages cannot be read, for example the greek characters cannot be displayed when logging on in russian. In a unicode system there is no restriction. -
I just got a nano 7th generation but came in chinese language and don't understand
Hi
I new at this, I just got the nano 7th generation. Took it out of the package and discover that is in chinese language and don't understand and don't know which one of the setting in the one for changing the language.
Can anyone help one
AnnieHey there amontalvo,
It sounds like your default language needs to be changed on your iPod Nano 7th gen. These instructions should help you get that reset, from the following article:
iPod: Changing the display language
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1824
Reset your iPod—Depending on how much you've used your iPod since selecting the language, simply resetting your iPod may cause it to forget the current language setting, enabling you to select a new one. See How to reset iPod for instructions.
Note: When you reset your iPod, all your music and data files are saved, though you may need to reset some customized settings.
Update your iPod software—If you haven't updated your iPod software recently, use the latest version of iTunes and update the iPod software.
Go to the main menu—Disconnect your iPod from your computer, then press the Menu button until the menu title says "iPod," regardless of the language displayed. This means you are at the main menu.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,

SAP CRM to ECC - SSO Configuration - Logon Language Setup
Hi All,
I am a BASIS consultant currently handling one CRM project. I need a help in configuring SSO between CRM and ECC. Now SSO is not configured, so When I click on the External Link created in CRM calling an ECC transaction, it requests for Client/UserID/Password/LogonLang for the ECC system. Here it takes Logon Language as same as what I have logged in CRM. Hope once SSO configured it will check only for the userID and log into ECC without requesting any further details. But the issue here is we are planning to have additional languages in CRM but not in ECC. So whenenver user logs in CRM with language other than EN - english (eg. FR), and when tried to login to ECC with the external link from CRM, by default ECC login needs to be logged in with language EN, as FR will not be available in ECC. I do not find any logon language configuration in SSO, how can we achieve this, logging into language FR in CRM, logging in EN when clicking External ECC link? Configuring Logon Data defaults (in SU01) in ECC, restricting to logon language EN, will not help I hope. Please advise.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
ShahulHi Srikishan,
Thanks for the response. When user from CRM logged in another language than EN for eg. FR, clicks on external link in CRM, takes to EN, only if that language FR is not installed in ECC, else it will take to the same language in which CRM user logged in. This cannot be controlled in SSO configuration. Is this correct?
In case if FR is installed in both the systems, ie CRM and ECC, but user wants to log only to EN when clicked the external link(to ECC) from CRM, how we can configure this, Is any parameter can control or SSO setup configuration available? Please advice.

Users by default logon language
Hi
I am trying to find out how many users logon to our global EEC5 system from different regions/countries, due to the lack of information entered in SU01 during the creation of users, I think the only reliable information to search on is 'Logon Language' in SU01 defaults, as we do setup the users to logon via their region logon language in the defaults, this should give me a rough guide at least !
Looking at SU01 and the reports in SUIM, I cannot find a report where I can search using logon language as the key? I've had a look in the technical information for field logon language in SU01 and the field name is LANGU, but when I use this field name in SUIM --> Users by complex selection criteria (RSUSR002) -- > field name LANGU and value as language key = DE for example no matching results displayed, even though we have over 00 users with a logon language default set as DE.
Does anyone know a way I can list the users by logon language set as their default?
Thanks for any help. This details can be found from the Report RSUSR200 (users by Logon date and password chage). Please deselect all options and keep the following selected:
Users Valid Today
Users Not Locked ; Users Locked
Users with no incorrect Logon attempts
Dialog Users
Users with Productive password
Users with initial Password
users with deactivated password
Execute and check / download the list.

Chinese Symbols in "Check Status" with Logon Language German
Hello Colleagues,
We have a strange problem in our Quality system (SRM 4.0). When a user from Germany (logon language "DE") logs on to SRM and clicks on "check status" several descriptions of the columns like "item description", required on", "status" and "price" are displayed in chinese charakter.
In which table or transaction can I change those descriptions. We do have an UAT soon and this might look strange to the tester.
Thanks in advance
