On such a hardware issue, stressing to diagnose same is not taking advantage of your warranty, return period, or Apples customer service you ALSO paid for.
as such less stress to you and worry of any hardware defects and exchange same for another unit.

  • Dv6 top left speaker lower sound issue

I purchased a HP dv6-6005et laptop 6 days ago which is running w7 x64 home premium. 3 days later, i noticed my top left speaker's sound lower than top right's about 20 percent. I formatted and installed w7 x64 pro.
I thought this might be a driver issue. I updated the driver. Nothing's changed. Uninstalled driver. I noticed without IDT Audio driver top speakers are ok. Balances are ok but bottom speakers not working and sound is not good enough.
I went to place where i purchased my laptop. I used public demo laptop. That laptop has that issue too.
I tried all drivers on the internet. Nothing's changed but now i know this is a driver issue. I couldn't find any solution. Please help me.
    Thanks a lot.

Seems like your settings are a bit skewed.
    Click on Start
Type in "IDT Audio Control Panel"
On the Far Left locate Setup
    Click on it.
Move move the circle to the left or right as needed.

  • My MacBook Pro has no audio.  Sounds preferences showing output is Optical digital-out port.  How do I change this to built-in speakers?

My MacBook Pro has no audio.  Sounds preferences showing output is Optical digital-out port.  How do I change this to built-in speakers?

I experienced this same problem yesterday on my MacBook Pro,  still searching for a solution, several other posts here indicate people have been experiencing this since at lease 2007.  I have  yet to find a clear solution.
It appears that occasionally inserting headphone causes this, it turns on the Optical digital-out port feature (red light glows inside the headphone port) and takes away the internal speakers option.   Restarting did not restore it, but for some reason after sitting asleep overnight the sound started working again and the internal speaker option return in the Sound - Output Window, and the Optical Digital-out option went away.
Here is another post with some ideas on this

  • Satellite M300: Low sound microphone levels and crackle sound using Skype

Brand new machine, and tried to use Skype.
Low sound levels and a crackle through it.
Tried it in sound recorder, and low sound, but no crackle.
Can not get the sound levels up.
Driver for Conexant HD SmartAudio 221 shows as up to date (4.36.7.0)
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Do you use Toshiba factory settings? YES
Which OS do you use? VISTA
Do you have the same problem using headset? NO
I have narrowed it down a little more. It is only when I am connected to my wireless network. I can have Wi-Fi enabled, and connected to the internet via a mobile internet connection and there are no issues.
When I am connected via the router, I have this issue. You could say it is the router, however I have various other machines connected to the same router, without issue.
    So, to clarify.
WiFi on - not connected to internet via router, however connect by other means - All ok
WiFi on - connected to the internet via router, issue.
    Router is Thomson SpeedTouch 570

  • When playing music through the audio port on my macbook pro only the left speakers/headphones work. external speakers are fine!

I am having problems with the 3.5mm audio jack on my mac book pro. its been just over a year and now when i connect 3.5 headphones or speakers they only play the left speakers. the right speakers do not work.

If you go to System Preferences (from the Apple menu) > Sound and select Output, how is the Balance slider set? If it is all the way to the left, put it in the middle.
    Best of luck.

  • Macbook no longer "sleeps" after 'low battery' warning, just suddenly dies

My macbook (just over a year old) used to give me a warning with 10 minutes left that it would sleep so as my data was not lost, if I didn't plug it in. However, recently, it has stopped doing this - instead of sleeping, if I don't get to a power source in time within 10 minutes, it simply cuts out, with the sound of the hard drive stopping - like if you shut down a frozen macbook with the power button.
This is REALLY irritating - what's going on? Why does it not sleep anymore, and is there any way to fix it?
I'm on Tiger 10.4.11, with an intel macbook...

Same Problem here. Tried several calibrations, smc and pram zap (well i guess there is no pram any longer so it zaps something else). Now I found another post where they talk about the battry 1.2 update. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1449128&tstart=60
I remember when trying to do an battery update to 1.3 manually the update told me that it is not for my macbook. But - I found the 1.3 update Bundle in /System/Library/Configuration/BatteryUpdater.bundle
    1. I Removed /System/Library/Configuration/BatteryUpdater.bundle from my system
    2. rebooted
    3. Emptied trash
    4. Installed update 1.2 by Softwarupdate.
I will now do an SMC reset an then let the battery run low and watch what happens.
    Then do a calibration.
I have the problem here in different ways. Sometimes Macbook shuts down suddenly after low battery warning, sometimes it sleep, almost never it hibernates.
My Battery was replace after showing the x symptome about a year ago but now it looks bad again

  • MacBook retina won't boot up

I have a MacBook retina and yesterday night when I tried to use it it turned to be super slow. It took around 3 minutes to boot up while usually it would only take like 20 seconds. And also the fan was running at full speed as well as a big black X on the batter icon. I was too tired last night so I just left the MacBook there. Today I did some research that the apple website says that might need a reset of SMC so I did it. I can see the charging lights turns from orange to green and then to yellow so the resetting should be complete. Then I booted up my MacBook, same issue as last night.   Even worse, I can't even see the battery icon when I logged in, same as the mouse icon, disappeared.    I had to should it down by pressing power bottom for a while.
Here happened the worst thing, the MacBook would never boot up since then, not even the booting sounds can be heard.   But the SMC resetting is still functional and I can still reset SMC which means at least the power bottom is functional because I had to use it to reset SMC.....
I totally have no idea what happened to my MacBook. Does any one have any ideas? Or can the apple store fix a MacBook that would not even boot up?
    Many thanks!

  • Very low sound volume on Portege R500

The sound volume on my R500 (R500-11c to be exact) is ridiculously low. Only with volume maxed out (100) and using headphones do I hear anything at all, and even then it's way too low to be useful. I can just make out the test sounds in the left and then right earphone when using the test sound found at Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers (there are no Headphones to be selected) -> Properties -> Advanced -> Test. Unplugging the headphones I hear nothing from the speakers, due to the (very low) sounds made by the fan and HDD. Playing music (with headphones) I can just make out that sounds are being produced, but I can't even make out what is playing.
I've tested the things mentioned in the "Satellite 5105-S901 Sound is very low (even on max volume) using supplied Toshiba driver" thread with no success (including Loudness Equalization).
I'm running Vista Business 32bit, and have tried the driver_audio_realtek26117B.exe, driver_audio_realtek_TC00157600B.exe, and Vista_Win7_R243_x86.exe driver files, and also used the util_mute_off_25847B.exe utility.
Enabling mute makes the already faint sounds go completely silent, so I don't think it's a mute issue.
Jack detection does work, I can see that in the Realtek HD Audio Manager program. Using that program's sound test (Speaker Configuration) I have to go to a completely silent room, and even then I only hear something in the right earphone. (I think; it's so darn low I could be imagining I hear it.)
Decreasing the sound volume slider from 100 does make the almost inaudible sound even harder to even notice, and at around 45 it is no longer audible even in a quiet room with headphones.
So it seems that I somehow need to reset the audio chip to "normal" level. Or it is broken and can't output anything more audible.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try next? I can boot to XP or Linux if anyone has any ideas on how to get sound there, just to get started. (They're silent as well, I haven't done as extensive testing under those as under Vista.)

    Hello, and thanks for answering.
Yes, I have tried increasing the volume in control panel -> Realtek HD audio manager. No success.
I have used a bunch of different drivers, both from toshiba's website and realtek's.
Recently did a fresh XP install on another hard drive (don't have Vista install media), tried both 5.10.0.5869 and 5.10.0.6066 drivers (5.10.0.6066 is from march 13, 2010), sound still as low no matter what I do.
Did the really desperate thing: bought a new (used) sound module on ebay ("Toshiba Portege R500 (PPR50E-00L048EN) USB jack" on ebay.co.uk), but it has the same problem as the original one.
A hardware problem... well maybe, I was thinking perhaps the sound module doesn't get enough power from the motherboard, but since there is some sound (although very low), the USB jack on the module works, the headphone/mic jack detection works, and the diagnostics found in the Control Panel all say that the device is working OK, I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I'm guessing there is a problem with the drivers initializing the sound to a ridiculously low setting, and increasing the volume level to 100 makes it go up to a level equal to perhaps 2 in a regular system. That should be solved by a fresh install, but it isn't.
Perhaps the BIOS messes up the sound? But re-flashing the BIOS doesn't help...
    Anyone got any other ideas?
I've googled and found people having problems with low sound volume on other laptops using the ALC262 chip, but no general solution.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Best Buy sold me two Lenovo notebooks without left speakers!

I camped out for 12 hours at the Best Buy in Brighton, MI and ended up purchasing two Lenovo g575-438343u notebooks for $180 each.  One of the first things I noticed was that the black seal was broken and there was clear packaging tape over it.  A sticker on the box said "This computer has been tested and set up by Geek Squad".
I booted the first notebook up and one of the first things I did was try to watch an HD YouTube video to test the video performance.  The video played fine, but I noticed no sound coming out of the left side of the laptop.  I spent a while in the Windows sound settings and the SmartAudio program found in the Control Panel.  With no success getting left audio output from the internal speakers, I plugged in a pair of headphones and left and right sound worked correctly.  I then booted up the second notebook and had the same problems.  At this point, I was almost certain it was a hardware issue, but I booted a linux LiveCD just to make sure .. still no left audio output.
Convinced this was a hardware issue, I started disassembling the laptop.  My suspicions were confirmed when I found there to be no left speaker at all!  The location of where the left speaker should be is empty.  The connection on the laptop has four pins - two for each speaker.
You can view the Lenovo G575 datasheet here:
    http://shop.lenovo.com/us/ww/pdf/G575_Datasheet_US.pdf
    The datasheet lists 2.0 Speakers (2* 1.5W)
I have taken photographs of one of the notebooks that I purchased from Best Buy, showing the missing left speaker.
    http://imgur.com/a/IwnV3
I contacted Lenovo technical support about the issue Friday night, before disassembling the notebook.  They said my options were to take it back to the Best Buy I purchased it from and ask for a replacement or repair or I could start the warranty depot process with them (Lenovo).  I declined the warranty process at the time because I wanted to further investigate the cause of the problem.
I will call the Best Buy today and see what they say.
I will update this thread after I get some support from Best Buy or Lenovo.

I made the 45 minute drive back to the Best Buy with both notebooks.  I was helped by a Geek Squad member, but unfortunately he was not able to do much.  After messing around with settings for a few minutes, he was convinced there was only one speaker.  At that point, he started trying to find specs for the notebook.  I told him if he performed a quick google search for "Lenovo G575 datasheet" he would see where it says it has 2.0 Speakers (2* 1.5W).  He said that he needed the specs for the specific model number, not the series.  Unfortunately, the notebook isn't listed anywhere on Lenovo's website.  He looked for about 15 minutes but could not find the specs for the g575-438343u.  I was then offered two options.
    1.  I could return both notebooks for a full refund, no restocking fee.  I told him I camped out and waited 12 hours to get a notebook at this price, so I would not be interested in a refund.
    2.  He said he could queue up the notebooks for service.  He said they would first try to find the spec sheet for that specific model to determine whether it was supposed to have 1 or 2 speakers.  I'm guessing at that point they would send it back to Lenovo.  I asked for a rough ETA on that process and he said with the holidays, 3-4 weeks would not be uncommon.  I told him if I wanted to go that route with a Lenovo warranty service, I could just do it myself.
So I left the store with my single-speaker notebooks and no resolution at this time.  The geek squad agent took down my name, telephone number, and email address and told me if he found the specs he would send me an email.
He believes Lenovo was trying to cut costs to get the notebook down to that price point and a speaker made the chopping block.  I would have to agree with his theory - I found another person online who had the same issue here:
    http://www.helpowl.com/q/Lenovo/G575/Technical-Support/lenovo-g575-mono-sound/114738
I don't believe Best Buy is at fault here, it seems like Lenovo was trying to be as cheap as possible.  I will have to contact Lenovo again and see what they say.

  • Is there any way to attach a third external monitor to my 13" Macbook Retina?

I was really disappointed to learn on Friday that my 13" retina isn't capible of powering three external screens. I had two DP to VGA adapters plugged in, and the HDMI. Immediately two screens lit up. However, one remained black. I thought closing the laptop lid would free enough resources to allow the third screen to display, but no go
I would so very very much like three external screens that I've been investigating my options:
    1) Return it and get the 15". I actually tried to do this, but I stupidly threw out my box even though I only got the Macbook ~8 days ago. Apple wants all packaging and manuals, so this isn't quite possible. My next option is to sell it on Craigslist or something at a loss. Not exactly ideal.
    2) Split the signal of one of the connections by using something like Matrox's DualHead2Go. Not ideal though because it's likely one screen spanned across two monitors.
    3) Get a USB to VGA adapter. I'm not even sure if this would work, but it seems like my best bet.
Also if it helps my monitors look like this:
    Left: Small VGA 5x4 screen.
    Center: Large DVI 16x9 screen.
Right: Another small VGA 5x4 screen.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this poor ******* who didn't do enough research before buying his Macbook Retina?
    Thanks!
    John
Also, I would rather not use the retina screen when using the external monitors. I prefer either just the retina or just externals. It just feels weird mixing externals + the laptop screen.

  • Running Windows 7(32) on MBA - sound crackling, stuttering

I did a search on this and found some posts from other users (see below)but no solution. I have upgraded the driver to 6.0.1.6235, I have installed the recent update of Bootcamp (3.2.2646), but the issue remains. Sounds playing in different applications are effected, though it seems to be more frequent when playing locally stored content (buffering??)
When running in MacOS 10.6, the sound works perfectly. Have anyone managed to solve this? Or, perhaps someone NOT having this issue could get in touch, so I could try to replicate your settings/drivers.

    , Win 7 x64 RTM since August 09.
Just this week, I reinstalled Windows 7 x64 fully legit ... NEVER had this stuttering problem until now. I was running Bootcamp 2 under Windows 7 before ...I don't think this is a hardware issue and here is why:
    I have a Rev A MBA (1.8ghz ....0.1.5936
I really think this issue is caused by the Realtek Driver and/or Bootcamp 3.0/3.1

I have the same problem, and also tried several drivers from Realtek Website.
Also updated bootcamp to 3.1 but problem still exists!!
At the beginning i thought it might be HW related problem, but sound works flawlessly on MAC OS.
    Any advice?

I don't think this is a hardware issue and here is why:
    I have a Rev A MBA (1.8ghz, 64gbSSD) purchased in Feb 2008. Ive run OSX 10.5 Leopard for a year, and Win7 x64 Beta since Feb 09, Win 7 x64 RTM since August 09.
Just this week, I reinstalled Windows 7 x64 fully legit version. I installed the OS as my only OS, and installed Bootcamp 3.0 and then 3.1.
Ive NEVER had this stuttering problem until now. I was running Bootcamp 2 under Windows 7 before and didnt have any problems with stuttering audio.
My current version of Realtek drivers is 6.0.1.5936

  • Iphone 4s really low sound

    Hello,
From some months I experience the problem with the sound of the iPhone 4s. The sound is really low. You can only hear it if you put your ear very near to the speakers. I've tried everything. Settings -> Sounds to max. Restarting the iPhone. Once I've played Flappy Bird, the sound like fixed itself for 2-3seconds. From low sound it turned very loud but for 2-3 seconds. Then I've tried Restoring the iPhone to its factory settings - nothing again. I lost and my Flappy Bird...
So my Question is - can we fix the sound problem and return my flappy bird? I can't download it from the gamecenter.
