Making a Jpeg move

I have a JPG that I have imported on to final cut, I want to make it move around etc. I remember doing it once a while ago but I can't for the life of me remember how, Think I was messing with the wireframe or something? Any ideas?

    Sounds to me like the file is probably corrupt. If you had hard drive corruption or damage, that could easily result in recovered files not being fully intact. If you were trying to recover accidentally deleted files, it's possible they might have been partially overwritten before recovering. There are never any guarantees with file recovery.
    Without more information on the circumstances that led you to try recovery, it's hard to give advice on what to try from here. You could always try another file recovery tool, like Data Rescue 3. Just be sure you're taking appropriate precautions when doing recovery. See Recovering deleted files.

  • JPEG Movie Segment Work

    Hi,
    I have a jpeg movie file 60 mins long and a text file tell me five time-lines for breaking the movie. For example, break the movie at 10:21, 16:05
    The final output should be five small jpeg movie files. Each file contains a 90 sec (30 sec before the break time and 60 sec after the break time).
    Do you know any java library (jar) contain the library that can help me on programming this? Any existing source code? Any SDK for a movie editor can do that?
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Kenny

    Please reffer to the java media framework.

    Photoshop/Premiere Elements 13...are either capable of making time lapse movies from still images? I heard this feature was removed from Premiere 13, after I purchased it  =(

    It am not understanding clearly what program is not closing
    Photoshop Elements
    or
    Premiere Elements
    There is the AdobePremiereElements.exe for Premiere Elements (video editing) and the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe for Photoshop Elements (photo editing).
    Right now you keep mentioning Premiere Elements, but I am seeing your description more like Photoshop Elements.
    Please clarify so that we can focus on the correct program and try to resolve its problems.

  • Aperture 3: Deleting raw files and making the jpeg my new master-

    Aperture 3 has made some great strides in making the following possible ( I posted this originally in 2007):
    What I'd like to do is shoot everything in raw + jpg, and then keep the raw files only for the important shots.
    I really like having the option of raw processing, but the storage demands are very heavy. If I could just make a selection of photos in a roll, and have a command to delete any unneeded raw files from the selected photos, while keeping the original jpgs as master, that would be great.
    Also, it would be great to be able to manipulate a raw file, and then when I'm satisfied with the image, to render a high-quality jpg from that raw file & make the jpg the new master, and then delete the raw file to free up disk space.
    Basically, I want the raw file safety net for everyday images, without gobbling up gigabytes of disk space <<<<<
    With Aperture 3, I can finally change the master to the jpg file, which solves part of the problem. But I still want to be able to manipulate my raw file, and render a new high-quality jpg master.
    Why don't Aperture / Lightroom do this? To me at least, it seems an obvious feature.

    I had a chance to talk to product managers from both Apple & Adobe about this at PhotoPlus Expo in NYC a couple years back. Both seemed receptive, but here we are - years later - no progress.
    I think part of the problem is that there's a purist mentality about RAW files. One should always shoot them - and then keep them forever- after all- they're your negatives!
    But what about event photography? Or weddings, as you pointed out? It makes no sense to burden your workflow & backup system with 4GB of RAW files of people grinning into the camera. Once the adjustments have been made, the RAW files are just a ball & chain on your data management. And let's not forget, once you really know what you're doing, your jpegs should be good most of the time anyway.
    I want RAW files as a safety net for errors in exposure and white balance. Once I know I have good photos, I don't need the safety net anymore- at least not at the price of all that hard disk space and transfer time for online backup. Of course, for my fine art stuff and important documentary work, I'll always keep the RAWs permanently. But not for routine parties/events.
    You put your finger on the problem with re-importing jpegs as a solution. You lose your metadata- rankings/album memberships, etc. This is no solution!
    What I want is simple, and it would be immediately useful to countless photographers:
    1) Let me batch-delete RAW files when the jpegs are ok.
    2) Let me do adjustments on my RAW file, render out a high-quality jpeg, and make the jpeg my new master.
    Whoever does this first - Aperture or Lightroom - that's the product I'll use.

  • Interlacing for photo-jpeg movie

    I originally posted this in the compressor forum. Forgive me for posting again here - I had no response at all on the compressor forum...
    I'm encoding a DV movie into photo-jpeg. I chose this codec as I believe it provides more accurate frames, rather than the keyframe technology in stuff like h.264, or sorenson etc. I am writing music to picture and accurate sync is essential. (feel free to correct me if my format choice is wrong!). The movie needs to frame sync perfectly (if this is possible from a DV source?) with Logic Pro's timeline.
    On export there is an option to "de-interlace source". As I'm viewing the footage on my computer monitor I checked this option in the belief a de-interlaced movie would produce better results. With the option checked the burned-in-timecode looks blurred. When paused the frame number looks like a combination of the current frame and the previous frame - so for eg if I pause the movie at the 18th frame the bitc display looks like a number 18 over the top of 17. Indeed the "weirdness" reminds me of the sort of effect one gets when viewing interlaced footage on a progressive scan screen.
    If I render the movie ~without~ the option of "de-interlace source" checked, all looks sharp and as it should be.
    I am currently encoding my movies without the option checked.
    does anyone know what is going on here?
    (I'm wondering if that option just needs to be checked when the source is already de-interlaced?)
    TIA

    Edit: Go ahead and read this, but it occurs to me that this is neither a Compressor nor an FCP question. This is what Logic people deal with every day. Ask on the Logic forum what works best for those purposes.
    When I say DV I don't mean digital video. My video is
    delivered on DV tapes from a TV production company.
    (for some reason they wont provide any other format).
    I use FCP to capture and then export the movie to use
    in Logic to create sync music.
    Are you only doing this to create a visual for music production? i.e. this video won't be used in the end product? If so it really doesn't matter what format you use, and it sounds as though there's no real place for FCP in this beyond capturing the video.
    Are you sure DV is all keyframes?
    I'm sure, and I'm pretty sure that Colin is sure.
    What I do know is that DV is not the best of
    formats where sound sync is absolutely crucial
    DV has no inherent sync problems. There are sync problems that can some up with poor practices in capturing, but it DV is in sync when it starts out in FCP it will stay that way.
    I'm working in PAL 25fps for the record - but of
    course your info equally applies. In my case I
    obviously can't stipulate the shooting formats used
    (shot on digibeta for broadcast).
    My main question though is just what does
    "de-interlace source" check-option in the export pane
    in QT for motion-jpeg codec mean? Do I check it when
    my source footage is de-interlaced, or when I want to
    produce a de-interlaced file?
    You would use it to produce de-interlaced output, which is irrelevant in your situation and should be ignored. De-interlacing is only called for when moving to final distribution format, and when that format will only be seen on web or computer screens.
    My problem is described in my original post regarding
    the BITC frame numbers looking "doubled up". Its like
    the previous frame gets superimposed on top of the
    current one.
    It's VITC - but DV doesn't use VITC.
    In any case, it's relevant to know where your window burn came from. Is it burned into the tape you receive, or are you using TC Generator or Reader in FCP?
    What it indicates is a time code offset by one field (half a frame). It may also indicate that there are fields which are not only in the wrong order but in the wrong frame. If your tape has hard cuts in it, park at one of those and see if you get half the lines of the outgoing shot and half of the incoming one. That would indicate such a problem.
    Most likely it's just a problem with whatever device did the window burn. If it's a problem for your work, ask them to fix it.
    If this is a reference tape, most likely there was an analog transfer from DBeta, with one or both of these issues introduced there.
    Is there relevant DV timecode on the tape itself? If so you should probably use that and ignore the window burn.
    I am wondering its a field order thing. There is a
    de-interlace process going on and instead of
    combining field 1 and field 2 of frame5 say, it
    combines field 2 of frame 4 with field 1 of frame 5.
    Another possibility is that there was a standards conversion in the chain, which would spread some source fields over two frames. Did the program originate in NTSC?
    I can post examples of the issue if the problem needs
    to be "seen". With "de-interlaced source" checked I
    get a more blurred result with messed up BITC.
    Don't do the deinterlacing, you'll confuse yourself more. At best you'll cover up a problem which may really be a problem. You don't need deinterlacing.
    The Animation or None codec
    create movie files that are too big and unwieldily.
    This is why I've been using photo-jpeg. I'm not sure
    how the Motion-jpeg A or B codecs you mention work -
    any info would be useful.
    You also likely have no use for any of these codecs. Most of them will actually degrade from DV somewhat. Don't fix what ain't broke. For your purposes DV is the native format you have to work with. Everything will work best if you keep it that way.
    I need my movie to be as undemanding on CPU ~and~
    disk as possible, while supplying true frames. Logic
    needs every clock cycle and disk bandwidth it can
    get! Picture quality is less important - I can always
    look at the DV stuff if I need too.
    Others with Logic experience will have other suggestions. If you need to see every field for timing you will need an interlaced signal and an interlaced display, which pretty much leaves you using standard PAL. Might as well be standard PAL DV. If the machine can't hack that there are other formats to consider including even MPEG-1 or -2.

    I Can move Jpegs into ps the only issue is with Raw files
    I did get error1 message but as do not know what that means its no help
    any suggestions?

    Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
    The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
    However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
    I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
    However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.
    So, I'm still stuck as to what the issue is.

  • Making Full HD Movies from ACVHD

    Ok... just got my iMac so I can do something with the HD movies still in my Sony SR7. I've been reading heaps of threads to learn as much as possible (thanks AppMan and Karsten whose threads are always helpful)... but a couple of questions;
    After recording in Full HD and watching the brilliantly sharp and colour full movies directly from the camera, I wish do some editing or at least get them of camera (which is HDD) so I don't lose them. So I have downloaded them into iMovie08 successfully, then;
    1. I export to quicktime movie then have read advice to either set the compression type as AIC, H.264 or MPEG-4. I understand H.264 is what the movie will end up as when burning in HD (with Toast) and that AIC is what the movie was imported as (in effect letting toast do the encoding)... but why would you use MPEG-4?...and what is the difference between AIC and MPEG-4
    2. If I follow the above exporting procedure, making sure I choose 1920x1080HD, the .mov file saved to my desktop when watched (pre burning) is all fuzzy (or for want of a better describing word, lots of horizontal lines)... although in 1280x720HD there is no lines but much less sharp. So is this because my apple monitor isn't HD and will, upon burning onto a DVD or Blueray disc and playing through a HD TV, the movie be back to full HD? I don't (yet) have a HD TV to test this on, but want to make movies in HD so later I won't have to.
    Thanks:)

    Have you checked for a firmware update for the camera?
    You might have better luck in the iMovie community.

  • Import and edit motion jpeg movie from d-lux 5

    I have a leica d-lux 5 that can shoot 720 HD via motion jpeg. I use the sd card adaptor to import the movies into the iPad. the movies go into the photos app and play just fine. You can also add the movies to iPad keynote presentations for example.
    The thing is I can not seem to get the movies to show up in imovie which means I can edit them into a movie. Seems strange I can see the movie via keynote but not imovie...
    Has someone found a way to add movie files from a camera via sd card adaptor to the iPad2. This is a great workflow for vacationing with a camera that shoots hd and and iPad2.

    Greg, I have exactly the same question. It seems Apple expect you to only want to edit video shot directly from your iPad.
    The only workaround I have found, and this is only if you have a free wifi connection.
    From your Import folder, forward the video clip to yourself as an email attachment. In the received email, you can then detach the file into the Camera Roll.
    This is very messy, but it does work.

  • Making a highlight movie!

    iM08 supports tiff or png files with socalled 'alpha cannels' = transparency.. use your preferred paint app and create an arrow on a transparent background.. import that into your iM08 project ... for highlightening a part of the video, create a 'mask', with fully transparent 'light' and a 30% grey to lower unwanted parts ..
    iMHD6 supports plug-ins, geethree.com has an excellent 'hilite/obscure' and 'whiteboard' plug-ins, to teach iM such effects..

  • Making One Object Move, both players see it fine, but very slow.

    Hi there,
    I am simply trying to send one object (movieClip) move from the left side of the stage to the right side. I am able to accomplish this by using the following very simple code:
    /////////////////////////////CODE///////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    //PRESSING RIGHT, MAKING BOX MOVE
    public function pressingRightMakingBoxMove(e:KeyboardEvent) {
              box.x += 3;
              moveBox.sender = netGroup.convertPeerIDToGroupAddress(netConnection.nearID);
              moveBox.user = "" + netConnection.nearID;
              moveBox.xx = box.x;
         netGroup.post(moveBox);
    public function netStatus(event:NetStatusEvent) {
         switch(event.info.code){
              case "NetConnection.Connect.Success":
                   setupGroup();
              break;
              case "NetGroup.Posting.Notify":
                   receiveBoxMovement(event.info.message);
              break;
    public function receiveBoxMovement(moveBox:Object):void{
          box.x = moveBox.xx;
    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ENDCODE//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    It works fine, the box moves on both screens, but you can obviously tell there is latency. Should I be sending movements through an Object? Perhaps there is a quicker way, sending it through strings or text? Definitely not acceptable over UDP.
    Thank you

    NetGroup.post() may have significant latency, and postings may arrive in a different order than they are made.  it is not intended for time-critical communication.
    to get the lowest latency (and most efficient transmission) for N:N communication (including 1:1), you should use the 1:1 P2P APIs (NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS and explicit peerIDs) and be sure NetStream.bufferTime=0.  it sounds like this is the most appropriate for your application.
    for 1:N or M:N (M << N, N > 4) communication, you should use P2P multicast.  but P2P multicast may also have significant delays, especially while starting up.

  • Corrupted jpegs/movs after recovery...

    Hello,
    I've read other pots here about this situation, but I'm still stuck with corrupted files.
    I used data rescue to recover deleted files from an old drive. Worked well and found a lot of good files (including many flawless jpegs). But the jpegs from an old iPhoto library are ALL corrupted (they're the right size though, so most of the data should still be there). And the videos (mov format) are also the right size but won't play on any viewer.
    Any ideas on how I can fix those files?
    Thanks,
    Loa

    Yes I confirm. I first posted a problem regarding the Exporting of JPG's out of Lightroom in this thread here:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b63f9d/2
    Following advice contained in that thread my thinking changed somewhat and I believed that the problem might have been in dpMagic - a small application that allows one to view CR2 images in Windows Explorer along with other file formats. I subsequently contacted dpMagic who asked me to forward a few problem images along with screenshots from Explorer when it crashed along with a screenshot of the Event Log. Here is the reply that I received from them this morning:
    thanks you for the detailed information. We were able to reproduce the
    problem. It is originated from the corrupted exif info in the jpeg image.
    The next published version of the application will be resistable to such
    kind of errors.
    with the best regards
    Eugen Shashkou dpMagic DEV
    It would appear after all then that Lightroom is causing corruption of Exported JPG files. I have no way of knowing in which way the EXIF data is being corrupted, and whilst dpMagic say that the next version will be 'resistable' I would much prefer Adobe to see what is causing the corrupted EXIF data in the first place.
    Could one of the mods kindly post a bug regarding this matter referring Adobe to this thread if necessary. It would be appreciated - thanks.

  • In making a "highlights" movie, using clips from different imported iMovie events, can I delete the larger iMovie event file from the Events browser and still work w the smaller clips in the Projects browser w/o having the larger files still loaded?

    I have sucessfully imported 150 Sony digital 8mm movies (each one hour in length) into iMovie as 150 iMovie events. I have since successfully converted them from their original 13 Gb (.dv) file to an exported smaller 1.3 Gb (.4mv "large file") movie that I am happy with, using the iMovie projects browser. So now I have 150 " .4mv" movies on my internal HD as well as about half of my original raw data " .dv " movies on my internal hard drive.
    Due to their large size (over 2 Tb), I do not have all the larger raw data (.dv) files on my 2Tb internal drive, just about half of them. What I want to do now is to create a new project in the Projects browser for each of my kids, and reload, starting with Tape #1, each of these larger files and do a highlights movie for each of my kids, wherein I pick out smaller clips from each 1 hour .dv iMovie event and paste them into the appropriate kid's Highlights project in the Projects browser.
    Here's my question: If I load the first 5 large files back onto my internal HD, and paste in various shorter clips into each of my kids' Highlights project, and then if I delete those first 5 large files (they are backed up on 2 other 3Tb external HDs), can I keep doing this (reloading the next 5 large .dv files to work with), and ultimately take each of my kid's Highlights project and export as a .4mv movie EVEN THOUGH the earlier large .dv files are no longer on my internal HD, OR does my iMac need to have all these larger files loaded on my internal HD for me to eventually export each of my kid's Highlights project to a .4mv movie?
    I have a 2011 era 27" iMac desktop w 2Tb HD internal and 250 Gb flash drive, and Lion OSX and iMovie 11.

    Thanks. I tested it out and you were correct. I loaded 2 .dv movies from my external HD back onto my internal HD, and got them re-imported into iMovie, took a few short clips from each of the 2 iMovie events and pasted them into a new project in the Project Browser. Then I deleted these 2  "source clips" from my internal HD, closed iMovie and then re-opened it and found that iMovie would NOT export the smaller clips for a "highlights" .4mv movie without the "source clips" being available.
    I read your link on Quicktime. It talks about mostly trimming, which is what I did with each iMovie event before I took each one as a project to export as a smaller .4mv file. But if I use Quicktime (do I need QT Pro or basic), what advantage is it to me to use QT over iMovie (I must admit I am a novice at iMovie and have never used QT or QT Pro as a tool)? Will it then convert any edits I make to a .m4v movie or do I need iMovie to do that?
    Does QT allow trimming multiple segments out of a movie during one edit session, or can you only do 1 at a time? By that I mean that, for example, when I use Sonys Picture Motion Browser for my .mts movies, you can only set one Start and one End point for each edit/trim you do: it does not allow you to set multiple Start Stop points like iMovie allows in its Event or Project browser. You can only do one "trim" at a time, save it and then reopen to do another trim. not very useful.

    Hi Teknik Kim
    This was a funny question. It is possible to do this with the property nodes. You can get the position of the progress bar digital display by creating a property node on the progress bar and selecting the property digital display. This property is then an array of references to all the possible digital displays in your case there is only 1 meaning that you can just take out the first element of the array. If you create a new property node on this reference you can take the property "Position -> Top" and write to this depending on your value.
    I have created an example for you where I do the following:
    1) Take position of Progress bar
    2) Shift the position of the label so I only have the position of the fill color part.
    Then the digital display is aligned with the top border of the fill. I would say it should be half way up so the middle of the digital display should be at the top so I:
    3) Shift the position of the height of the digital display dividede by 2
    Then the middle of the display is aligned with the top. But Actually I want it to be in the bottom when the value is 0 so I:
    4) Add the value for the Height of the Fill Color Part
    Then it is aligned nicely in the bottom and we are only needing to make it move with the value. To make this dynamic I:
    5) Move the digital display with the (current value / maximum value) * height of fill color part
    This seems to work nice for me, try to take a look at the attached example and see if it works for you (LabVIEW 2012)
