Many-to-One user mapping to backend systems - possible?

My apologies if this simple question has been asked many times earlier - I couldn't find it if it is so.
I understand I can use user-mapping in single signon to map user X in portal to user A in backend system (say SAP BI).
Can I map users X, Y, Z..... to one backend user A?
What alternative I have (to let a number of portal users run some BW reports on the backend system - for which we want to use only one BI user-id)?

An easier more manageble way of doing this is to create a group and assign the group to a backend user. That will establish your many to one relationship.
We perform this for our vendors currently as they would like to see a single shopping cart in SRM.
Just be cautious on the manner in which you leverage your single user as you can experience several locked objects depending on how things are accessed. Another thing to consider is making the backend user a service user as this will also allow you to change the password mapping policies on the users as in many cases you will need to remap the users every N days depending on your systems security parameters.
Hope this helps.

    Does the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Architecture includes this feature (configuration possibility)?

    Thanks all for the provided infos. We have now the same requirements for two customers -> One-to-Many (One VLAN mapped to multiple SSIDs).
    Can anybody who has realised such a set up provide some more details how to proceed?
    The link from David describes the other way around, several VLANs mapped to one SSID. By the way, we where able to implement this, but it is only supported in centralized mode, local mode (Flex Connect it doesn't work).
    For any advise how to proceed for "One VLAN mapped to multiple SSIDs" would be very appreciated.

  • MSS - Appraisal - No user mapping defined for system SAP_ECC_HumanResources

    Hi Experts,
    We are using MSS for appraisal. When we click on Maintain Performance Documents link on MSS, we gets Status Overview for employees. After that when we click on In Preparation point, it gives following error.
    No user mapping defined for system SAP_ECC_HumanResources
    It asks for User name and Password. When we enter user name and password, it gives following message.
    Session Management will not work!
    Please check the DMS log file for details.
    You can turn off this alert inside"Support Destk"->'SAP Application' and after that screen gets error - Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
    Would appreciate kind guidance on this. We are on EP 7.0 and ECC 6.0. We are using single-sign on.
    Thanks in advance.

  • User mapping error:  NO systems available for the selected principal

    I have a problem related to User mapping. After creating system alias, I mapped my j2ee_admin user successfully. Then I created 15 more users and when I click usermapping for all of them, it is not displaying the system alias. It is giving error "There are no systems available for user mapping for the selected principal"
    I cannot understand that when I click connection test, it is successful. The user mapping for j2ee_admin user is working. But when I try to do the same for other users, it is not displaying the system alias and giving me the above error.
    Can anybody guide me through the error. I have given "Everyone" role to all the 15 users. Any kind of help will be appreciated and points will be rewarded.

    Hello Abdul,
    This is a permission problem. Open the permission editor of the system and assign any role/group in the permission editor and select the checkbox corresponding to end-user.
    Now assign this role/group to all the users.
    It will solve ur problem.
    Regards

  • Too many BPM data collection jobs on backend system

    Hi all,
    We find about 40,000 data collection jobs running on our ECC6 system, far too many.
    We run about 12 solutions, all linked to the same backend ECC6 system. Most probably this is part of the problem. We plan to scale down to 1 solution rather than the country-based approach.
    But here we are now, and I have these questions.
    1. How can I relate a BPM_DATA_COLLECTION job on ECC6 back to a particular solution ? The job log give me monitor-id, but I can't relate that back to a solution.
    2. If I deactivate a solution in the solution overview, does that immediately cancel the data collection for that solution ?
    3. In the monitoring schedule on a business process step we sometimes have intervals defined as 5 minutes, sometimes 60. Strange thing is that the drop-down of that field does not always give us the same list of values. Even within a solution I see that in one step I have the choice of a long list of intervals, in the next step in that same business process I can only choose between blank and 5 minutes.
    How is this defined ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rad.

    Hi,
    How did you managed to get rid of this issue. i am facing the same.

    Its me again.
    There seems to be a bug. I have created antoher alias for this system and it is working now.
    When I change the logon method (UIDPW<=>SAP LOGONTICKETS) for the reference system, then I can not save the login and password for the system.
    Happens this situation to anybody of you too?
    Thanks.

  • EP + BW: Problems with user mapping in the portal

    Hi,
    I'm trying to connect the portal with the BW by using the report RSPOR_SETUP which is a step-by-step guide. The steps #1 - #11 seems to be ok but my problem is the 12th step, the user mapping/allocation maintenance in the portal.
    There is an error emerging (in BW): System failure during call of function module RSWR_RFC_SERVICE_TEST (System failure indicates normally an authentication problem between ABAP and Java)
    Another error is emerging by testing the connection in the portal. (System administration u2013 system configuration u2013 system landscape u2013 connection test: the first connection, the SAP Web-AS connection is ok but the second, connection test for connector, is not working.
    Especially the connection to the backend system with the defined connector is not working. The output is: u201CConnection failure. Check that single sign on is correct configured.
    On step 12 of the step-by-step guide I have to select a user in the portal, relate him to a system alias und maintain his technical username and password for the BW. I think here is the problem. Iu2019m able to select and save a system alias for the user, but Iu2019m not able to save his technical username and password. There is another error emerging (in the portal): u201CVerification of user mapping data for system SAP_BW failed, check credentials for errorsu201D, so Iu2019m not able to save the username and password.
    I think thats the my problem. the log file confirms that: "Did not find any existing logon data for principal...." & "No user mapping data available for principal...."
    I hope my problem description is understandable.
    Any ideas how I can solve the credentials problem to save the username and the password?
    Thanks in advance.

    I could deploy some of the usage types, but there is an error regarding the BI-REPPLAN package. I think it's one of the very last errors that stands between me and a working EP - BI connection. There is a problem with the version. Could you check the log details, to find out more?
    Thank you.

  • Different ways to do User Mapping

    Hello all,
    Could some one tell me about the ways in which we could map the user id to SAP r3 id. We already have a reference system which will do the user mapping.
    Another way is to have the LDAP save the Mapped user id along with the authentication data.
    Wanted to know if there are any other ways to do such a user mapping.
    Thanks ,
    Meghna

    Hi,
    User mapping is used for Single Sign-On (SSO) to back-end systems. User mapping maps a portal user ID to the user ID of the back-end system.
    Systems are represented by their default alias in various interfaces, such as the User Mapping dialog that displays during personalization. To make a system available for user mapping, you must:
    &#9679; In the System Aliases Editor, define a default alias for each system that you create. For information about creating system aliases and default system aliases,
    &#9679; In the System Property Editor, set the User Mapping Type property to either:
    --> User: Only the end user can set user mapping
    --> Admin: Only the administrator can set user mapping
    -->Admin/User: Both the end user and the administrator can set user mapping
    User mapping supports the following authentication methods:
    &#9679; SSO using user ID and password
    This method always requires user mapping. The portal ID is mapped to the user ID and password of the back-end system.
    &#9679; SSO using logon tickets to ABAP-based systems
    This method only requires user mapping if users have different user IDs in the SAP NetWeaver Portal and ABAP-based systems. Passwords are not mapped.
    To access more than one ABAP back-end system, you can define a reference system. As long as all the ABAP back-end systems use the same user ID, the user can access all the systems by mapping their portal user ID to the user ID on the reference system.

  • Portal - User mapping - umlaut - personalize - error

    Hello all,
    did anyone hear of the following in the portal user mapping to a backend SAP system ?
    A user has an account in a 4.7 SAP system and his password contains a german umlaut.
    In the portal "User mapping" instead of SSO is active. The user clicks the "Personalize" iview to map his SAP User, he enters his SAP UID and his (umlaut-containing) password.
    When he then calls an iview that is connected to the backend system (e.g. bwsp via ITS), he gets the message "No user mapping defined for system ...". He then can enter his UID/password for this single request, and when he does so, it works. Same procedure comes up, when he again tries to call the iview.
    It seems, as if the password is written to the database in the wrong way ?
    Any experiences on this ?
    Thank you + regards
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
    Go to User Admin - User Mapping. Search for the user and click on "Edit".
    Now select the "System" defined for connecting to the SAP 4. 7 system. Give the user id and password for the system and click on "save".
    Now try accessing the iview. You would be taken to the sap system directly without any request for login.
    You can do the same, if the user has "Personalize" link available in the top right corner of the portal which comes by adding the "EU Role" to the user.
    Hope this solves your problem.. If not pls get back.
    Regards,
    venkat.

  • User mapping exception

    Hi,

    Can anyone please let me know how to solve this problem.
    Points will be rewarded.
    Kind regards,
    Raj.

    Hi,
    I guess your portal installation has its Cryptographic Level set to weak. In this case, User mapping will not be available. So you need to change a property value. Follow the steps given below:
    Go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> UM Configuration.
    Go to the Direct Editing tab.
    In the text box there, you will find a property ume.usermapping.unsecure.
    Change the value from FALSE to TRUE.
    Restart the server and try.
    Be aware that this causes an unsecure transmission of user mapping details between the portal and backend system.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Problem in AppIntegrator user mapping parameter

    Hi ,
    I am trying sso for http://www.diamondintelligence.com/include/login.aspx? (Note I have done AppIntegrator for Yahoo)
    I have created system,
    Name of the server:www.diamondintelligence.com
    protocaol: http
    URI of web application: /include/login.aspx?
    alias: myAlias
    I have done user mapping for the system.  userid: thillai pass: theatre
    Created iView property(the input fields does not have id for the above URL viewsource, I used input name)
    System: myAlias
    URL Template: <System.protocol>://<System.server><System.uri>?<Authentication>
    URL Template fragment for user mapping:  inp_username=<MappedUser>&inp_password=<MappedPassword> (here inp_username is input field name)
    iView preview shows the same view while open the URL directly.. the SSO is not done here.
    I think problem is input field not having id.. please help to solve this issue . it is very urgent.

  • Switching Backend System

    Hello everybody
    We've setup SRM 4.0 with SRM Server 5.0 SP08 and CCM 2.0 SP03 on a development/customizing machine called DIM. We connected it to temporary devel./customizing SAP R/3 4.7 backend system called RIS.
    Why a temporary devel./customizing backend system? Well, that's a complete other story...
    However, we now have to change this connection to the definitive devel./customizing SAP R/3 4.7 backend system.
    The problem / question is: after having changed all customizing settings (changed logical and/or RFC destinations everywhere) we are able to replicate DNL_CUST_BASIS3, DNL_CUST_PROD0 but not DNL_CUST_PROD1 from the new backend system.
    In R3AM1 it hangs with a yellow status, in SMQ2 it stays in the inbound queue with an error message ":COM_PRODUCT_CUSTMSG:028 R3PRODHIER RISCLNT200".
    RISCLNT200 is the logical system name of the old backend system.
    Is this error message araising because we already replicated from this (old) backend system? Does anybody out there know this issue? Anyone having a solution to it?
    Other question:
    Is it somehow possible to wipe out all repliacated data (hierarchies, categories, material, ...) from an SRM server instance without having to reinstall everything from scratch? We're still on development/customizing level and not in production yet!
    Thanks in advance for some help. Would be happy to reward with points!
    Renaud
    EDIT: looking at COMM_HIERARCHY I can see that the product categories were replicated. Any ideas, why I get above error in the inbound queue SMQ2 then?
    Message was edited by: Renaud Desarzens

    Hi Christophe
    Thanks for the tip. Just tried it out, went to COMM_PRAPPLCAT and deleted the entry with application 01 and its assigned hierarchy id (R3PRODHIER). Then went to the pending queue entry in SMQ2 and restarted it.
    Now the system returns another error in the inbound queue (SMQ2). It tells me that the hierarchy id R3PRODHIER already exists.
    Tried to delete it in COMM_HIERARCHY but of course the system says it may only be maintained in the backend system. This backend system is no more of interest for us. We want to replace it by another one.
    What else can I do? Is there a way to wipe out all replicated hierarchies and all products just to be able to redo an initial replication from a new (NOT additional!!!) backend system?
    BTW: In the actual R3MATCLASS hierarchy I have some categories from our old backend system and some additional new ones from the new backend system. How can I make sure to have only categories from 1, the new one, backend system?
    I'm kind of lost here...
    Best regards,
    Renaud

  • Master data in SRM when backend system change

    Hi SRM Gurus,
    Our scenario is ECC5 as backend system integrated with SRM 4.0(  SSP scenario and  iwith Catalog CCM2.0) Tech Implementation scenario is Extended classic .
    Now our backend system will be changed to ECC6 from ECC 5.
    ECC6 is installed on separate server for implementing changes in FI  ( separate Dev, QA, Prod environment )
    Question is that when we integrate SRM4.0 with ECC6, all master data (product categories, products & vendor master) needs to be replicated from ECC6 to SRM4.0
    As SRM system will remain same what will happen to present master data in Production system.
    As deletion is not suggested what is the correct approach.
    We can delete this master data in SRM Dev and QA.
    Can we keep master data pertaining to ECC5 as it is in SRM.
    Any idea as to what type of impacts one can expect if backend system changed from ECC5 to ECC6? Is there a recommended approach for this?
    I already referred note SAP note 418886 /995771.
    Regards,
    Avinash

    Hi
    By changing to ECC6.0 you would be entering a new backend system. Since the master data in SRM is linked to the respective backend system, it should not impact you.The old master data would still be there but linked to old backend system. You can let the data remain as it is if you want.

  • NoLogonDataAvailableException in User Mapping?

    Hi,
    I am storing a user id and password in the "User Mapping" for a system on the portal, by clicking on the "Personalize" link.
    Now I want to retrieve these values in code.
    But I am getting the error "NoLogonDataAvailableException".
    Can anyone tell me what this indicates, and how to fix it?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    This is the code I am using, it was provided by SAP.
              //          obtain system
              String systemalias = "System1";
              // get user from request
              IUser iuser = request.getUser ();
              //response.write(request.getUser().getLogonUid() + "<br />");
              // get usermapping service
              IUserMappingService iums = (IUserMappingService)
                   PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(IUserMappingService.KEY);
              IUserMappingData iumd = iums.getMappingData (systemalias, iuser);
              Map map = new HashMap ();
              try
                   iumd.enrich (map);
              catch (NoLogonDataAvailableException nldae)
                   // Error handling
                   response.write(nldae.toString());
              catch(Exception e)
                    response.write(e.toString());
              // In m is all data
            String userid = (String)map.get( "user" );
            String pwd = (String)map.get ("mappedpassword");
            response.write("<br />");
            response.write("hallo" + userid);
            response.write(" " + pwd);

    If you are using user mapping in EP6 then you could use the following line of code to retrieve the information
    HashMap userMapping = ((IUser)request.getUser().getUser()).getRawUserMappingData("<System Alias>")
    I hope this helps

  • Programmatic access to multiple backend systems using adaptive RFC

    Hello,
    The following  link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/af/84a34098022a54e10000000a1550b0/content.htm talks about the support to map multiple backend systems by specifying the backend system as URL parameters in a webdynpro application.
    For example:
    http://<hostname>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/ESSProject/ESSApp?
    sap.wdarfc.useSys=WD_MODELDATA_DEST:ABC&
    sap.wdarfc.useSys=WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST:ABC
    Is it possible to programmatically change the backend systems the application connects to? in other words can a single application while executing connect to different backend systems by dynamically changing the model parameters?
    (This should be possible without the portal in the picture)
    Cheers,
