Moving AQ$_WF_CONTROL_D as part of a re-org

DB - 11.2.0.3 - s390/zlinux
APP - 12.1.2 - SLES SP2 (Linux x86_64)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As part of the reorg, there's a table I need to move that wont. (AQ$_WF_CONTROL_D)
I've been following note: 418238.1 from metalink which says to shutdown workflow services then to recreate the workflow queues.
I just noticed the note was from EBS 11.5, everything looks okay on my side, but I wanted to check to see if there would be any ramifications on the APPS side.
Are there any changes in workflow in R12 (12.1.2) that make the note NOT APPLICABLE to a 12.1.2 install?
Thanks
  • Moving The Chief Including Direct Reports to Another Org Unit
    Dear Expertise,
    We have a request to move the manager including his direct reports employees to a different org unit.
    I'm looking for a way to achieve this through function module.
    Can anyone shred some light or if any Standard FM available to reuse?
    Your Sincerely,
    SE
    Hi,
    certainly I do not believe there is any standard code for doing this.
    Are you trying to code up an application that lets you do this? If so, the have a look at the decoupled infotype framework classes (CL_HRBAS_* ) for maintaining OM infotypes - you could use these to delimit the old relationships and create new ones in the target org unit.
    In particular have a look at class - CL_HRBAS_PLAIN_INFOTYPE_ACCESS.
    if you're just looking for an easy way to do it - lots of dragging and dropping in PPOME would probably be the easiest!
    hope that helps,
  • I would like to know it it's possible to change the scroll bar from the right part of the firefox browser, to the left part and, if it's possible, how can it be done. Thank you!
    The scroll bar (the one used to scroll up and down any kind of website), that is normally in the right part of the firefox browser, would be of much help to me if it could sometimes be moved to the left part of the browser. Is this possible? How can it be done? Can anybody tell me the exact steps to take in order to do this (if it is possible of course)? This would be helpfull to me, since I think that the firefox scroll bar is overlaping the scroll part of the facebook chat sidebar, since I just can see a few people on this facebook chat sidebar and I can´t scroll along it, as I could a while ago. So my guess is that the firefox scroll bar is covering the other. In order to solve it in a simpler way, I guessed that if the firefox scroll bar could be moved to the left side of the browser, this problem could be solved. So, can anybody help me?
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/layout.scrollbar.side
    Type '''about:config''' in Location (address) bar
    filter for '''layout.scrollbar.side'''
    Right-click the Preference and Modify it to '''3'''
    You may need to reload any pages open to have scrollbar move to left after Preference change.
  • ITunes Fix for Manually Moving Music and other Media
    Intro
    Any iTunes 7.x user who manages their own music library outside of the "iTunes Music" folder might be able to tell you that iTunes DOES NOT respond well after manually moving tracks from one place to another on their computer systems. In fact, any file you move becomes immediately unplayable in iTunes. And, if you're anything like I am, losing several years worth of song rating metadata and playlists is not a good incentive for change. However, one thing others might not be able to tell you is that there's an easy workaround for the problem and you get to keep your playlists, ratings and other info. Read on to learn about the workaround.
    About the Workaround
    The workaround is a simple hack I devised after recently transferring a good portion of my music library between hard disks and running into problems with iTunes. The fix steps provided below are intended to circumvent the problems with iTunes and give users the freedom to move songs and other media files on their computers while maintaining the integrity of both the ratings and the playlists. Meaning you won't need to manually update the song locations in iTunes one-at-a-time, which, at version 7.02 is the only way to accomplish this task using the program.
    Please be aware that not all information is retained using this workaround. What will be lost are the following: the "Recently Added", "Recently Played" and "Top 25 Most Played" iTunes Smart Playlists; any media file play counts; last played information; and possibly some other data used only internally by iTunes.
    So, if you're comfortable parting with some metadata while keeping your cherished song ratings and playlists intact during file relocation, read on to learn how to use the workaround.
    Workaround Steps
    The following instructions walk step-by-step through the process of this workaround.
    Note: All backslashes used in file paths have been converted to forward slashes so that they will adhere with MySpace XSS security validation checks. These altered paths can still be copy/paste into Windows Vista's Explorer program once the Username is changed to the User Account where the iTunes files reside.
    Preparing for the Move
    Before you move your files, do the following:
    1. Close iTunes.
    2. Create a backup copy of the following files:
    iTunes Library XML (iTunes Music Library.xml)
    Note: Vista users can find the Library XML at C:/Users/Username/Music/iTunes
    iTunes Music Database (iTunes Library.itl)
    Note: Vista users can find the Music Database at C:/Users/Username/Music/iTunes
    Moving Your Files
    This part should be self explanatory, but while you do it make sure to note the following two things:
    1. The path where the files were previously stored (e.g. D:/Music).
    2. The path where the files will end up (e.g. E:/Music).
    Execute the Fix
    After your files are moved, complete the following steps to implement the fix.
    Note: Do not open iTunes during this process.
    Hack the iTunes Library XML
    Once the files are moved the Library XML file locations will be out of sync. Follow the steps below to update them so that they now reference the correct file locations.
    1. Open the iTunes Library XML with a Text Editor with a Find/Replace function.
    Note: Vista users can find the Library XML at C:/Users/Username/Music/iTunes
    Tip: Do not try to do this with Dreamweaver if your Library XML is greater than 10MB.
    2. Perform a Find/Replace using the following inputs:
    Find: Path from Step 1 of Moving Your Files
    Replace: Path from Step 2 of Moving Your Files
    3. Confirm your results, and then save and close the Library XML.
    Delete the iTunes Music Database
    Hacking the iTunes Library isn't enough to fool iTunes. Like the Library XML, the Music Database also holds the file locations of all of the media stored within the program. And it's smart enough to wipe out the Library XML hack if iTunes is opened before completing this step.
    Ensure you have backed up the iTunes Music Database (iTunes Library.itl) and delete the file.
    Note: Vista users can find the Music Database at C:/Users/Username/Music/iTunes
    Back in iTunes
    Once the fix is in place you can now open iTunes again. You will notice that all of your playlists, music and other items have vanished. In order to recover them all (with the exception of the Smart Playlists mentioned in the About the Workaround section above) we'll need to import the hacked Library XML file back into iTunes.
    1. Open iTunes and press CtrlShiftO or go to File > Import…
    2. Navigate to and Open your modified Library XML (as pictured below).
    3. iTunes will then begin importing the contents of the XML file (as pictured below).
    Note: This process may take a while, depending on the size if your library.
    Wrapping Up
    Once the import process is complete iTunes will look almost exactly the way you left it, with the exception that some playlists have been duplicated and the number of songs may be a hair off. To fix this problem delete any duplicate playlists in the "Library" panel in iTunes. You can now test out the changes by selecting an item moved earlier and testing it out. All that's left from there is to let iTunes perform any automated analysis it needs to do and rock on.
      Other OS
    Holy Smokes:
    I appreciate your detailed workaround post. My question is this: I use iTunes to keep everything organized (though I'm well aware of the shortcomings...) and can use the simple solution that Chris from CA posted, but I don't have room to consolidate everything. My read on consolidating is that you copy from wherever you have your music located (and right now my music is outside of the MyMusic/iTunes folder, as that backs up to my work server) and so you have to have enough room for all of your music to be copied (and then you delete it from its prior location). That's how Apple describes it in, e.g., http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301748. I ain't go that kind of room. Is there any way to make the move to a completely different PC by following the simple option? From the posting I just linked it sounds like you MUST consolidate whether you use you iPod to move things or use an external drive.
    Of course, I can use your workaround, but I thought I'd ask first. Many thanks.
  • Moving from folder-organized photo library on networked NAS to iPhoto...
    Hello,
    This is a fairly broad question, I know, but I've been researching for almost a full week and still at a loss as to what to do, so I thought some of the kind souls on here might be able to cut thru the forest of info out there to help me.
    I vetoed iPhoto long ago but am now interested in trying it out & testing it against Picasa. However, I have a fairly large photo library that I keep on NAS, and definitely want to keep it there. Basically the research I've been doing has scared me, with all the horror stories about mixed libraries and the dangers of referenced libraries (which is what I was thinking would probably be the way to go), so now I'm a bit frozen.
    My photos are currently folder-organized, mostly by date, but the level above date is by major categories (such as child's name, etc). I realize the date organization becomes redundant if I migrated to iPhoto, and even the categories seem redundant too if I can tag them all instead, etc.
    The Picasa part was pretty easy, since I can just point it to the externally stored library and it does the rest, not moving anything. That part of Picasa is brilliant and makes a strong argument for going that route. My big hangup with it is the lack of nested collections - particularly in the web environment. The organizational aspects of Picasa seem a bit lackluster - and iPhoto sounds to be pretty good at that.
    But with iPhoto, I'm having trouble deciding how to structure things and get started. I've read up on moving an existing iPhoto library to an external drive, but my impression is that to achieve what I'm trying to, I would need to import the entire library into local iPhoto library FIRST, then go backwards and migrate that iPhoto libary back onto NAS - which would then be a duplicate of the entire library since I'd be leaving the original intact to continue using with Picasa. Is that indeed the way to do it? I'm a little worried about ending up with an undifferentiated mass of 50+ Gigs of pics in iPhoto that i'd then need to go thru individually to tag (a monstrous task), as opposed to, say, having the names of folders turned into tags on all the pics within those folders (wishful thinking?).
    To complete the picture of my situation for whoever may be kind enough to read all this, we have an iMac & a MBP, and would love to be able to share the NAS library on our respective iPhotos, and be able to keep "sync'd" up to what the other has done. From reading around it seems this is a little trickier, and the stuff I've been seeing about speed issues with WiFi-connected NAS libraries is not making me any more comfortable.
    I was somehow able to rig just this situation up for iTunes (the library for which is shared & kept on NAS), which works pretty good (although I'm now concerned that that is also a 'referenced library' and liable to the same horror stories and cautions as external referenced libraries for iPhoto - is it the same? - so far so good...).
    I've seen Terence Devlin mention a few times about using 'external managed libraries' instead of referenced libraries, but I'm not sure how to do that. The other vague conclusion I've come to from reading around is that I should probably use iPhoto Library Manager to achieve my goals here, and although I'm aware of what IPLM does, I'm not totally clear about how I would use it most effectively in my situation.
    Whew - sorry for such a long rambling 'question'! This has probably been addressed elsewhere in the boards, but I've been reading for hours and can only get glimpses into a possible strategy for my situation - I thought just asking might nip it in the bud.
    THANKS!
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    A long question with, I'm afraid, a short answer.
    a fairly large photo library that I keep on NAS, and definitely want to keep it there.
    Stick with what you have. iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos. That pretty much rules out having a Managed Library on that NAS.
    In some more detail:
    My photos are currently folder-organized, mostly by date, but the level above date is by major categories (such as child's name, etc). I realize the date organization becomes redundant if I migrated to iPhoto, and even the categories seem redundant too if I can tag them all instead, etc.
    Here's a fast way to tag them:
    Start at the bottom of your Folder hierarchy and drag a folder of images to the Album Heading in the iPhoto Window. iPhoto will import the pics and make an Album of the same name as the Folder. Now: Want to tag all those pics with the same keyword: Select all (Command - a) and apply the keyword.
    You can work through your images quite fast in this way.
    Alternatively, use an app like Keyword Manager which has Nested Tags as a feature. So, for instance, you can set a hierarchy: John is your Son so tagging 'John' will also add a 'Family' tag and so on. In my case I have tags like 'Seattle' that add 'Washington State' 'U.S' and 'Travel' to the pics. WIth auto completion all I have to type is Sea...
    but my impression is that to achieve what I'm trying to, I would need to import the entire library into local iPhoto library FIRST, then go backwards and migrate that iPhoto libary back onto NAS
    No, all you need to di is start a Library, then move it to an appropriately formatted disk. You don't need to complete the Library first.
    we have an iMac & a MBP, and would love to be able to share the NAS library on our respective iPhotos, and be able to keep "sync'd" up to what the other has done.
    Again, noting that the NAS is not the way to go here, you can simply enable iPhoto Sharing or use the same Library with both machines - very easy.
    I know that these a pretty short answers, and by all means post back if we can be more helpful.
    Regards
    TD
  • Moving Files with multiple HD's
    Don't know the best place to put this. I just installed a 1TB HD in my Mac Pro. I was gonna use this drive for all my media files; Itunes, Iphoto, Illustrator and Photoshop, Word, etc. How do I setup to make all these programs save to my new hard drive? How do I move my current files to these HD's? I was hoping this would make things a little faster.
    Second, I was gonna get another drive to put all my third party programs on. Can I move them over or do I have to uninstall and reinstall onto the new HD? I was thinking if I only had the OS by itself it would speed things up. Any help or comments would be great.
    Thanks.
    It shouldn't be that much of an issue.
    Modern hard drives rely on there not being any direct contact of read/write heads to platter surface, although sometimes there are breaches that aren't catastrophic. In that case the system data in a small area can generally be stored in one location even though it'll be overwritten almost continuously - possibly millions of times. The rest of the locations might only see a few thousand write cycles (if even that much) over the lifetime.
    A solid state drive of flash memory is going to have a useful life of hundreds of thousands of erase cycles at each bit, although much of the newer technology has increased that number - possibly to over a million in the near future. They also employ "wear levelling" which attempts to distribute writes (and erase cycles) across all the locations of the drive. The system info would be moved continuously to different parts of the drive to prevent it from overwhelming one location's finite number of erase cycles.
    My reading is that the average useful life of an SSD should be considerably greater than a hard drive. The hard drive will eventually succumb to some sort of mechanical failure like bearing or head motor wear.
  • Moving My Catalog PSE 13
    Ok I hope someone can assist me. So I used the Move/Copy to another drive I moved all of my pictures using this command and now I have a mess. I use to have all of pictures neatly tucked away in individual folders. I needed to free up some space on my hard drive. Now all of my photos or at least most of them moved to the external hard drive but now I don't have any folders and there still are many pictures still remaining on Hard Drive. To make matters worse I thought I would do a back to the same external drive but I forgot to make a separate folder and now I have a mess. If anyone has a solution for this it would be greatly appreciated.
    The command 'Copy/move' is similar the 'Export' command. It works on individual files, not on folder trees or branches. The result always gets into the folder you have chosen.
    What you want to do is to 'move' a folder tree or a part of it to another location. It's not moving the catalog (the database where the details and location on the drive of the pictures are kept) it's moving the pictures themselves while keeping their structure in the Explorer/Finder. I'd call that moving a 'library' or part of a library.
    Keep in mind that 'moving' is only an image, a metaphor in computer language. You really first Copy something somewhere, then you Delete the original files.
    How to do this library move ? If you do it from the Explorer/Finder by drag and drop or the menu, that seems easy, but the catalog is not updated, so you'll have to 'reconnect' your files. If you do it by small batches, that can work well.
    It's recommended to do it from the Organizer itself. In the left folders panel, depending on the Elements version, you show the folder tree just like in the explorer/finder. You drag and drop, and the Organizer updates the path for the files in the catalog database.
    To make matters worse I thought I would do a back to the same external drive but I forgot to make a separate folder and now I have a mess. If anyone has a solution for this it would be greatly appreciated.
    You should deal with that problem first. Your backup has stored a number of copies of your files in a wrong folder, and you want to delete them. Most of those files begin by B00... It's relatively easy to find them and to delete them. That should recover most of the space on your drive.
    The problem you have left now is that you have lost your folder tree structure. If you had no backup, there is no way to restore it exactly. It's possible to use other data in the catalog to create a new folder structure based on dates (recorded from exif in the picture files), on albums or themes like events or places. You select pictures corresponding to a specific empty folder and you move them there.
    My advice is to keep the new structure simple since that does not add any advantage to using the catalog and its virtual organization of categories and keywords.
  • Is anyone experiencing problems with anchor links moving after updating to Muse 2014?
    Yes, I have noticed the sucking more power issue.  We also can't connect to the iTunes store anymore on either ipad we own after the upgrade.  All the tips provided in the forums have not worked.  I hope Apple peeps are paying attention to this... they are losing money!!  I can't buy my stuff on iTunes, so I went to Amazon.com.
  • A few questions before moving
    Hello.
    I've been using Linux for about 5 months, mainly worked with Slackware. I am considering moving to Arch, but I'm not quite sure what is needed to do so. I've read that using the installer would require you to select which modules you want to be loaded manually, and frankly I'm not quite sure what I do have or not. However, reading the docs I did not find any reference regarding module loading as setup. Does it really exist or not? If so, will lsmod on Slackware reveal all the module names I need?
    And another question, I'm pretty much familiar with the way Slackware ticks, configuration wise. Is Arch a lot different from it? I might need to use some other linux distributions at a job place or so, and so I'd like to know how, let's say, general, Arch Linux is.
    Thank you.
    mico wrote:You can't use the same /boot partition
    Yes you can. At least with Grub you can make a menu with multiple choices so that you can choose which OS to start. You can even use the same kernel if you don't use modules, if you do then you need to copy them to /lib/modules/ in the new root partition (although the links in that dir won't work anymore if you don't copy the kernel source too). I also use different menu options in Grub for different kernel versions, so that it's easy to fall back to a working version if the new one doesn't work (e.g. 2.4 and 2.6 kernels). You can set the default boot options with a timeout. I think that this all is also possible with Lilo, but I never used Lilo.
    It is also possible to resize existing partitions, that is what I did on my pc with a reiserfs partition. What I did is first resizing the filesystem with the reiserfs tools, and then resized the partition with cfdisk (I made the partition a bit too large, so there's an unused gap, but better safe than sorry). The filesystem can't be mounted when resizing it, and because it was the root fs I used a livecd. For most other filesystems you can also use Parted (http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/parted.html). I didn't use Parted because although it supports Reiserfs, it needs the reiserfs libs which aren't included with the boot floppies, so resizing a root reiserfs partition is a bit hard with Parted.
    You can use your current XF86Config file without problems most of the time.  You can also use most of your current home directory in Arch, including most settings as long as the config files of the different versions of the programs are compatible with eachother.
  • Moving Models
    All the other DM tools I've used store everything in one big file (the market leaders Erwin and ER/Studio do it this way). Since I find I often need to move files around, copy them, and share models with others, it's handy. With SDDM, it has all those files and subfolders! It's hard to move, and very easy to mess up and leave a file or folder behind. Even to zip it up and move it is difficult, since you have to pick the one header file from the parent directory (where I have a lot of model header files), and then one specific subfolder tree out of several.
    (1) does anyone have an easy method of moving models without losing parts (usually the header file gets lost since it's one level up, and usually there are several model headers in the same directory).
    (2) How do we make a suggestion that they change to a single file for the model?
    Edited by: user910583 on Oct 15, 2012 8:22 AM
    Thanks Ninad, I'll take a look. You're right though, when we built the applications, we were using an NWDS that didn't support the adaptive web service model yet.
    Thanks again,
    Kars.
    I agree with the definition of a position - that it's an occurrence of a job in an Organization. And I also couldn't agree with you more: that defintion shouldn't preclude you from moving the position around the company with re-orgs etc.
    Sadly that's a limitation of Oracle HRMS and there is no way to change the Organization of a position. You'll just have to streamline your processes to clone positions instead. Here, Position Copy is your friend:
    *HRMS Manager > Work Structures > Position > Position Copy
    There are also other tools that may help. Check out:
    Does that help?
