MSI 845 Ultra: USB20 not detected in WinXP

Hello,
Recently I bought a computer based on a MSI 845 Ultra board (USB2.0 + RAID) I'm using WinXP Prof. als desktop O.S. Everytinh seems to work fine but the USB2.0 controller is not detected. Is there in the bios some thing that I should enable ? Do I need somekind of extra driver so that it can be discovered. The USB1.1 controllers are working fine; no problems! :P
Who can help me ?

  • P4 Northwood 533FSB on an MSI 845 Ultra ARU

Just got a simple question here.  Have not been able to find an answer anywhere, so thought I would ask.  Does the MSI 845 Ultra-ARU support the P4 Socket 478 533 FSB proc?  I was running a 478 1.6 @ 2.1 on it, and wanted to get the pops a 2.4 to run on it, so he would not have to overclock.  Game him the board, and Alpha, vid., and memory, and wanted to polish it off with this proc to get him off of the old 700 Athlon (just isn't right  to keep yo dad @ 700 when you have 2 @ 2.1  :D ).
    TIA for the input.
    Darrell

Doesn't support 533mhz FSB cpus. Only 400 but up to 2.6ghz. You can get your Pops a 2.4ghz 400mhz fsb cpu.

  • MSI 645 Ultra-C vs MSI 845 Ultra-C

Can somebody tell me widh mobo from this 2 is better.
For the moment I use MSI 845 Ultra-C but I'm not satisfy by it.
Its recommend to change it with MSI 645 Ultra-C (MSI 645 Ultra) or not?
    Thanks.

I don't think that MSI 845 Ultra-C its a good mobo, I had problems with it from the 1st day I have it. I change it once. I don't know what to say I don't see some performances from my P4, and I think the mobo its the problem here. Or maybe its because I have just an GForce 2 MX400 and 128 DDRAM?
Now I just install WIN .NET Webserver Edition and it seems to work fine, but with WIN XP Pro its not working at all. Maybe you give some advices because I really don't know what to do.
Another ideea that cross my mind it was to chenge it with MSI K7N420 PRO + Athlon XP 1600+. Is this a better ideea?
    Thanks

  • MSI 845 Ultra-C and Western Digital WD1600BB

    Hi!
    I've got a problem with a MSI 845 Ultra-C based computer.
It worked before but there were problems with it's HDD and I wanted to install a new and bought a Western Digital WD1600BB. I connected the IDE drives like this:
    IDE1: Western Digital WD1600BB (Master)
IDE2: Samsung Combo drive (Master) and the Other 80GB HDD (Slave)
The problem is that it doesn't detect the combo drive. When I push the button on it tha tray opens and everything looks nice except the bios. Before that the 80GB HDD and the combo worked well.
What should I do ? I would like to know if this motherboard can handle 160GB HDDs.
By the way this is my neighbours PC so please answer quickly if you can.

  • MSI 845 Ultra C with sound card???

    I recently bought a P4 2 Ghz with MSI 845 Ultra C, Geforce 4 Ti4200 128.
A few weeks later i bought a simple sound card with surround support. Now when i try to install this software (Xp compatible) i get the error that the sound card is not installed and that the data is incorrect. I use the latest drivers from the internet. I believe this problem had to do with the onboard sound card of the motherboard. Is there anyway i can disable that???

it is an XP bug, you might try windows update to see if MS fixed it.
Here is for example ATI's doumentation of the error.
I assume the bug won't be fixed by the update, so in that case you need to reinstall XP with the card already insalled in the slot.

  • Msi 845 Ultra C, Ddram Pc333

My P4 2.4GHz on MSI 845 ULTRA C has DDRAM with 333 MGHz.  The FSB is set to 133 MGHz. However the multiplier is set to 18, and locked in BIOS setup. I want to set FSB from 133 to 166.5 without overclocking the CPU to enable the memmory overcklocking from 266 to 333. How to do it? Or is there another possibility to use 333MGhz with the memmory to utilise its speed?

Presuming I understood your comment  I should rise FSB to maximum. This could mean the CPU overclock from 2.4GHz up to app. 2.8GHz. Isn't it too dangerous just for speeding up the memmory?
PS: my mobo is 845-c ultra not i845d
PS2: [QUOTE:you are actually overclocking your Memory-
DOES this mean I oveclock the memmory not the CPU? Please explain
    Thanks

If FSB overclcoked to 533MHz, your memory will work on 33% more, so on 333 MHz

  • Help needed pls!!! GF4 Ti4800 SE 8X on MSI 845 Ultra?

    Hi folks,
    I just purchased a GF4 Ti4800 SE 128mb 8X.
I own a MSI 845 Ultra ARU (6398), I understand this board only supports up to 4X AGP, but the GF4 card should be able to "downgrade" to work with a 4x motherboard, I hope.
Booting up is ok, but graphics start to tear on the window start-up screen. At the desktop, once i click the mouse, the desktop will hang like for 1 sec, then the monitor switch to Black screen, and then back desktop, this repeats when i click the mouse. There are also some weird colors here and there.
    Can anyone pls advise?

I tried to change the slot, I have installed the last drivers of the motherboard and there is no way to use the PCIs slot. All the things I have tried, works perfectly in another computer, i have the original drivers and they have work time ago. If anyone can help i'll very very pleased. Thank you!

  • MSI x48c platinum - does not detect SATA HDDs

I am having some problems with a pc build with motherboard not detecting SATA HDDs (MIS x48c Platinum).
I believe I have exhausted all other avenues, and I would appreciate some help if I have missed something obvious.
(details of other components are listed at end of mail).
When I built pc using these components, and went into BIOS settings, the SATA HDD's were not detected.  I tried changing BIOS settings, but no difference if SATA, AHCI, or IDE settings.
I removed the HDDs and successfully tested them in another machine (also formatted them while had them istalled in other pc).
IDE optial drives are detected.  I have tried to boot with these disconnected to ensure no isues with both IDE and SATA drives connected, but this did not resolve issues.
I have also tried connecting HDD to different onboard SATA ports, and connecting just one drive with no success.
Resetting BIOS defaults, and using clear CMOS reset did not resolve issues either.
Sometimes on boot, it takes a few attempts to boot correctly, and on these occassions I receive an error message "Warning !!! The previous performance of overclocking is failed, and the system is restored to the default settings, Press any key except "DEL" to enter setup ......."  I haven't tried to set any over clocking.
I read about a number of issues on MSI forum related to SATA drives which were resolved by BIOS upgrade (mobo was shipped with v.7.0 released 20 March 08).  I managed to install an old IDE HDD and flash BIOS, but still no resolution of issues detecting SATA drives (BIOS V.7.2 released 29 July 08).
I've tried everything I can think of at this stage.  Is there anything else I should try, or is there something wrong with this motherboard?
    Spec:
    Motherboard:
    343949 MSI X48C Platinum, X48, Socket-775,
    DDR2/DDR3, ATX, GbLAN, 2xPCI-Ex(2.0)x1
    Other components in build:
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
Graphics Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 512MB
    HDD 2 x Samsung SpinPoint T166 500GB
    RAM 4GB (2x2GB) GeIL DDR3 1333MHz Value Dual Channel (7-7-7-24) PC3-10660
PSU 700W X-Power ATX SLI PSU
ODD DVD & CDR drives from an old pc - IDE connections.

i just remember     i had once similar problem with a sata driver. the issue is this you can not adjust everything in bios in one go and expect mobo to know about it. what i mean is this for instance you disable the raid then you save it and exit and then when it reboot you go back to bios and reset another another parameter,  you save and exit and on reboot you go back to bios and reset another parameter. i got round the prob that way and it worked and mobo saw the sata HDD. give this a shoot good luck and finally make sure raid is disabled
this is what i would do
1- make sure the jumper setting on your IDE Hdd is correct (Y may have to try this twice as there are two different setting on jumper setting for Master)
    2- connect the sata HDD
    3-click on power
4-go to bios and disable raid save exit
5-on reboot go back to bios
6--on first option click on it then you should see all devices that can be seen by mobo if you do not see sata HDD you have to click on enable for the auto to see the device once it sees the device save and exit. REMEMBER THE JUMPER SETTING  ON IDE HDD CAN CAUSE PROB . SO try the other jumper setting for master, repeat this procedure once more hopefully you get it right

  • MSI B85M-G43 could not detect Gigabyte R929OC 4GB 3X Windforce

I recently build a new PC a month ago and have been using it for 3 weeks then random black screens problem started to occur.
It started right around the time after I updated to catalyst 14.4 w/o the beta. At the same time i noticed windows update has updated some files which i did not note down what it was. Also Noticed that startup list had some new programs running.
I proceeded to disable the programs in startup, undo the latest windows update and finally reinstalled windows 8.1
Nothin works and I am left with black screen, which i realised that to be actually the mobo not detecting the card once i got a vga screen plugged in to mobo onboard graphics and went to BIOs to see.
Previously my BIOs were updated to latest through the liveupdate 5 program, which itself updated to liveupdate 6. For some reason I dont like programmes sitting at the back constantly checking for updates, so after updating those, I deleted all those programs. The updates also took forever to download, I figured i will download/install individually in future. Now that I do a search there is no live update 6?
Just to make sure, I have reflashed the BIOs to E7823IMS v3.6 again through the m-flash inside BIOs, but did not choose the BIOs + ME option as i dont know what it is. After reboot, BIOs version remained there, checked for ME and there's the version number 9.0.21.1462.
    BIOs version:  E7823IMS v3.6
    ME version: 9.0.21.1462
Prior to the Win8.1 reinstall, my OS was sitting on my SSD in non UEFI mode, I chose to install in non-uefi as i dont know what it was then. When i tried to reinstall, somehow the boot priority identified the SSD as UEFI first, so i wanted to give it a try and proceeded to install win8.1 in UEFI until reboot failed. Then I decided to installed my win8.1 on my HD in non UEFI instead. The system, as usual, works using the integrated graphics and mobo could not detect the graphics card in the only PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. Should I plug it into the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot and try, It never occur to me until now as I thought that was the only slot my graphics card could use.
    Please help
    Here are my specs:
    MSI B85M-G43
    Intel i7-4770 3.4GHz
    G.Skill Ripjaw 1600MHz (2 x 8)MB Blue
    SSD Samsung Evolution 240GB
    WD 1TB Blue
    Gigabyte R929OC 4GB 3X Windforce
    LG 24x DVD Writer
    Corsair Carbide Air 540 Case
SeaSonic G-750 80+ GOLD Power Supply
    ASUS PCE-N53 PCI-E Adapter
    Windows 8.1 OEM
Qnix QX2710 Evolution II 27" matte PLS monitor (uses dual-DVI-D connector only)

try to update your bios again but use the BIOS + ME option as it will flash not only your bios but Intel ME at the same time.
Note: Don't remove your USB during bios flash as the system will restart for I think around 2 times and plugging out USB might kill the MB bios.
Did you modify any settings in the bios setup??
If updating bios not can't work, try to plug your card to second PCIE slot and see if it could boot or not.
