Need to Track Purchasing Cost for Project without attaching to PO ?

Hello Guys,
Can any one Help me on this Question,
Iam raising a genric Purchase Order for materials without attaching the Project/Task,But I use Materials for many Projects ? How do I track Cost for Materials utilized for a Projects ?

Hi
If you are purchasing goods for inventory you can get your requirement.
Receive the goods into the inventory.
Later on, you can issue items from inventory to any project, and that transaction will be collected into Oracle Projects as expenditure items on the receiving project.
you may want to review Oracle Projects Implementation Guide, and look for the section - Implementing Oracle Inventory for Projects Integration.

Hello,
executing the evaluation "Cost/Revenue Costing for Project" I get no results. Could someone tell me where the values for this report come from? Can I find somewhere a list with all the evaluations (except the one like completed checkpoint items, ... which are really self explaining) and the source of the shown values?

I hope that you have assigned Cost revenue rate to Roles.
Check in spro> cProjects> Evaluation--> Define extract layout, Iterator for the specific layout RES_PART, Object and attributes.
Also check in Define evaluation assigned extract layout to Evaluation is correct which is defined in earlier step.

CNMM transaction is for PROMAN.
To get the PRs against a project please try ME5J transaction. This will provide you with all the Purchase Requisitions against a project.
To get the POs against a project you may try ME2J.

In SE16 or SE16N put the PO no and find the field AEDAT which is creation date of the PO.To know the time browse the table CDHDR .in the object value put the PO No. and in Transaction put ME21n ,you will get the time also.

Purchase order for project

Hello together,
We have a one senerio. At my client end no. of project is going on. We do not have sales order for the project parts. Presently we are creating purchase order with acct.assignment P ( WBS Element ) but our mamangement asking me to have the stock of the material purchased against WBS element. But it is not possible the combination of WBS element with storage location.
How can i create PO where no WBS element but i could get the stock of the material
Is there any work around?

If you are procuring the material with P as account assignment , after the GR is odne the Material will be consumed & accounted for the Project & the material will not be displayed as Project stock in Stock overview
If you procuring a stock material & doing the GR then the Material will be in unrestricted use stock.
Then You can carry a transfer posting with Movement type 412 special stock indicator as Q, This will post the material from unrestricted use to Project Stock.

Do I need to re-purchase Lightroom for a tablet?

Project Costing for Creating Quotations and Man power planning

I need advice about the following issues:
1.I need to do costing for projects so that i can create quotations.
Some times i have Sales Enquiry and some times there is no enquiry.Also sometimes they create PRs rest they are directly issuing POs.
Pls suggust which cost planning i should do.if i am doing Network costing by assging the material componnets to various activitites,but if they dont prefer PR generation then what should i do.
2.The project are turnkey so lot of departments are involved so how i plan manower as lot of cost centers are involved but they want to plan the total manpower seperately,

Does system track the costs differently for item revisions?

Hello
Does anyone know If the system Tracks the avg costs for all revisions of a particular item seperately
like we have items with four standard revisions
New
Old
Scrap
Imported
Now all of them have unique costs.If system does not track seperate costs for all these revisions than its a problem as scrap, old , and new cant be issue at same costs.it would mis lead us on consumption and expenses and many other effects too

As far as i understand it its like you have an item with different colors.So you open up one item code rather than opening a new code for every color of same item and then open revisions for all colors you have.In this examples i will take three colors blue , red and white.So there are three revisions, all active and we transact in all revisions as needed

New, Old, Imported may not be good candidates for revision. And scrap is more like a disposition than a revision.
If you want to enter different costs for different transactions, you should use avg. costing.We are using avg costing in all our ORG`s and system uses avg cost automatically on all transactions for which we dont provide costs manually

Commitment for project inventory

We've been researching Requisitions and Purchase Orders for Projects and how they flow through to show as a commitment and we are having problems with materials purchased as project inventory. I've read many Notes on this issue but haven't been able to get a clear answer on the question of commitments for Inventory items.
Can anyone let me know if a requisition for materials purchased as Inventory should be showing up as a commitment?
When a requisition is entered with Account Assignment P, to an expense GL account, the amount of the requisition appears as a commitment in CJI5. Once the PO is receipted the balance moved from commitment to actual.   When the same requisition is entered as a Q, the system correctly automatically assigns to an inventory account, but no commitment is made. The only time the balance appears on the project is when the goods are issued, then the balance appears a Actual.

This Note provides guidance on error KS036 that stops a cost element from being created from a balance sheet account.    The Note gives steps to remove error message KI098 which indirectly deactivates message KS036 to allow a cost element to be created.

Account Generator for Projects

I need to customize Account Generator for Documents (PO,REQ & Invoice) which are linked to Projects.
So we zeroed in on below Workflows
1. PO Account Generator
2. PO Requisition Account Generator
3. Project Supplier Invoice Account Generation
For 1, PO Account Generator, we found the node under Process "Generate Default Charge Account" where it's checking for Destination Type, & if it's Expense then it's checking if PO is Project Based. Now my question is
Q1.1 --> Can PO be of Inventory or Shop floor & still have Project associated with it. If yes, then how can we do the customization of Charge account for PO's based on Project.
For 2,we found the node "Build Expense Project Charge Account" under Process "Build Expense Charge Account".
Q2.1 --> Is it where we need to Put the customization for Project related requisitions. Again this process is for Destination Type of Expense. So again same question under 1.1 will answer the second part of question for PO Requisition Account Generator
For 3, as of now I am very much confused on this workflow where to put the customization for Project related Invoices.
Any help is appreciated.

We were able to finally confirm that we are doing the customization on right node.
Now we are stuck as we are being asked that we only need to call standard packages for customization, now if Account is setup as Lookup Set on Oracle Projects, then we have found that by calling PA_ACC_GEN_WF_PKG.PA_SEG_LOOKUP_SET_VALUE we'll be able to derive the value for the segment. But what will happen to Rules & Functions defined in Oracle Projects. How they can play the role for customizing Account Generator.
Any help. Let me know if I can explain in more detail.

The only way I see for tracking the costs is to create a packing operation when creating the FP (and do not use HU).

Thanks for the answer Mario, but let me ask more precise question.
I have a finished product AAA which is not packed. Now I have a requirement to pack it.
So before hearing about HU, I would add a new operation step to AAA recipe, new resource and a packing material to AAA's BOM.
For this option I don't have questions.
But now I want to use HU. so I create packaging instructions, and do the transactions
- COWBPACK - Work Order - Finished Product - to pack materials in process order
- COWBHUWE - Goods Receipt for Work Order - to do a GR for process order.
And where can I consider the labour and packing material expenses here? I even don't have a resource which is doing a packing. so I can't do scheduling...maybe I don't understand the usage of HU?

Best dpi for projection

Hello - First time doing a keynote presentation of paintings for my husband's work. I started with scanning his transparencies at 1200 DPI. I wanted them to look their best (detail) when being projected. Now I am thinking this might be over doing it but, I don't know. Can anyone give me some advice on this?

While it is important to scan at a high DPI setting for printing quality purposes, it is not what you need to concern yourself with for projection purposes. It is most important for you to determine what the pixel resolution capabilities are for your projection system and create your presentation size (and saved image sizes) accordingly.
Unless you are digitally archiving these paintings you can probably save yourself some image resizing work down the line and scan at a lower DPI setting. However if you are scanning these for archival purposes you can save copies of the images at a lower resolution for presentation purposes. I'll put some general guidelines on this below.
If you are not using your own projection system, or if you will be presenting in many different venues where the projector systems will vary, then chances are it will be safest for you to use the standard size of 1024x768 when creating your Keynote presentation. (I'll use that size as the example for this response).
Then it really depends on how you will be displaying the images within the presentation when you select what image size (width/height in pixels) to save the individual images at. I'm guessing that the paintings don't all fit neatly into a 4:3 aspect ratio frame. But unless you will be zooming into the details of the images, chances are you won't need to save the images at any higher than either 1024 pixels in width or 768 in height, especially if you will be scaling down the images so that the entire painting fits within the 1024x768 presentation window.
BUT, if you will be zooming into details of the pictures, or if you will be masking/cropping out portions of the pictures and then scaling the masked/cropped picture up to fill the presentation window more completely, then it is a good idea to save the images at a higher resolution. How much higher depends on how much you will be scaling the portion of the image up -- you may want to save at twice or three times the presentation window size just to be safe, or even more if you are zooming way into certain details.
Keep in mind, the higher the resolution of the image, the larger the actual file size in MB, so a presentation can become quite large if your images are much larger than they need to be. Large images can also cause problems when animating certain effects. So it can be a trade off depending on how much disk space you have available, or how smoothly you need certain animation effects to happen during the presentation, etc.
If you don't have access to image processing software (such as Photoshop) you can use the Mac Preview tool to resize your scanned images. Simply open the image in Preview, go to the Tools menu and select "Adjust Size". Change the width/height unit display (pull down menu to the right of these settings) to Pixels and make sure "Scale proportionally" and "Resample image" are both selected. Then change either the width or the height value as needed, but do not worry about the pixels/inch Resolution setting (again, this is only important for printing, not display/projection) and save the image.
