OCI Connection error under w98

I have a little problem...
With some w98 os (not all) with a 8.1.7 oracle client (and correct TNS), i can't execute OLOG function without receive an error.
Login and password are correct.
I don't know why...

What type of error are you receiving?
This information may help in debugging the problem...
If you have any other information that may be relevant

  • OCI connect error reported to cause core dump

    I use OCI in my developped library. Other developers use my library for their development purposes. Last night, the oracle server went down for patching, and a user reported a core dump that I recognized it is comming from my OCI section of library.
    I do OCI initialization, select, execute a query, and cleanup.
    Has there been any reports as for the case, when a connection is initialized, and the server goes down after successful initialization but before calls to execute a query or commit?
    Any comment???
    I have the error message below, and replace prepriotory info with xxxxxxx.
    thanks,

    We have seen core dumps in system calls earlier and have tried to debug them. We did not have the exact same stack as you but the core used to show up a stack in _malloc.
    As it turned out that we had out of bound array reads (used purify to detect this) and which resulted in this dump. So the stack shown in this case could be totally misleading and the real cause could be somewhere else.
    Hope this helps.

  • Group by SQL functionality under OCI connection

    Hi,
    I am using OCI connection to load data into Essbase cube. I was just wondering, where to define group by statements in the connection panel. Because i only see Select,From and Where boxes.
    Can i put my groupby script under where condition?

    You can ignore the other boxes besides the select one, you can put the full sql statement in the select box though remove the select.
    Cheers

    so problem is not with the Oracle database but with Toad.
    So root cause & fix are external to Oracle.
    This problem is off topic for this forum & should be posted somewhere in TOAD-world

  • Issues with OCI connection..

    I've been working on this for over a day, with infinite variations on the theme; but I cannot get a basic query to give back data. I've got the following code:
    <?
    $orcl = <<<OUT
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = )(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)(INSTANCE_NAME = orcl)
    OUT;
    $oci = oci_connect('','',$orcl)
    or die('Connection error.');
    if(!$oci) {
         echo 'Connection error: ';
         if(oci_error($oci)) {
              $oerr = oci_error();
              echo $oerr['code'];
         die;
    echo '<p>Initiated connection.</p>';
    $input = <<<OUT
         select * from user_objects
         where object_name not like '%SYS_%'
         order by object_name;
    OUT;
    $query = oci_parse($oci, $input);
    if(!$query) {
         $oerr = oci_error($oci);
         echo $oerr['code'];
    if(oci_execute($query)) {
         while($output = oci_fetch_array($query)) {
              $object = $output['OBJECT_NAME'];
              echo $object . '
    } else {
         echo 'Issue occurred..';
    oci_close($oci);
    ?>
    If I open this in a browser, it gives back the following:
         Initiated connection.
         Issue occurred..
    In other words, this indicates to me that the connection is being created, but that the query itself isn't being parsed or executed correctly. I've changed various things, for instance inserting 'orcl' instead or $orcl in the oci_connect(), including environment variables, etc. etc.; but I've gotten no further than this with it.
    Interestingly, if I do 'php index.php' on the command line, I get an ORA-12557 error (why is the page giving back 'Initiated connection' if this is the case).
    Installed Oracle is 10g 10.1.0 on Windows, connection is local. Thanks very much for any input..

    Odd; but thank you.
    I generally do that in order to offset db interactions a bit from other code and it's never been an issue with postgres interactions; but in this case I changed that and it's working now. I'm off to look into why this is (I imagine oci_parse isn't into it while PEAR::DB or pg_query ignore it; but I'm not certain).
    In either case, thank you.

  • Problem with scanning - printer display shows "Server connection error"

    My printer has been working great and I have had no problems with scanning.  But two days ago, all of a succen I rec'd message "server connection error".  I tried to send to email as well as computer.  Got the same message.  As usual, I don't recall any action on my part that could have caused this problem.    The copying and printing functions work fine. Detailed advice to someone technically challenged will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

    Ran
    into a problem with connecting to the DB on the SQL server from the IPAM server.  The Dba and I checked the target SQL instance was enabled TCP and listening on a valid TCP port.  SQL server was set to use port 1443 for incoming connections.
    IPAM was set by default to use 1433.
    Also used
    netstat-n to identify issue and verified 1443 on SQL server was
    being used.  Made the correction under the IPAM provisioning wizard and connected to the database.  Fixed.
    Important note I was able to connect to the database with a .udlfile
    without any issues
    Also note that 2012 R2 IPAM only supports 2012 SQL Enterprise.  Why?

  • Database Connection Error Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory

    Hello everyone,
    Background:
    I have a newly installed and configured Ubuntu server running Tomcat5.5 and Mysql 5.0. This server was created in an attempt to migrate from a Red Hat server in a similar configuration, running the exact same webapp. Most of the configuration/classpath differences between the two platforms have been ironed out.
    The Problem:
    When our webapp trys to connect to the database on localhost, an exception 'java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission localhost resolve)' is generated.
    The server.xml configuration is below:
    <Resource name="jdbc/EconDollarsDB"
    auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    username="user"
    password="pass"
    driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
    url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/DBName?autoReconnect=true"
    maxActive="20" maxIdle="5"
    />I can connect to the database just fine using the command line client and the same username/password combo. This configuration has been working fine for at least a year on the older server. The only similar problems I have found on the net (meaning the same exception is generated) involve applets and attempts to connect to different hosts. This case involves a webapp, connecting to localhost, using a configuration that is known to work! I am simply baffled.
    The following stacktrace is generated:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Database Connection Error
    Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Server connection failure during transaction. Due to underlying exception: 'java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission localhost resolve)'.

    Hi,
    Its clearly saying the connect permission is missing with the current available policy.
    you add the following permisson entry to the <installed JRE>\lib\security\java.policy file.
    (e.g) C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_08\lib\security\java.policy
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    grant{
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    If the application is running standalone then the code is allowed uncontrolled access but for webapplicatons running through browser, the security check is performed for the configured JRE.

  • The video player is in the connection error state.

    Flash cS 5.5 / Win 7. Inserting video into movieclip both with 'import video' wizard and via component. FLV that plays fine on a number of different servers. On opening (after gathering metadata) the message 'The video player is in the connection error state. It enters this state when a video stream attempted to load but was unsuccessful. There are two possible reasons for the error: no connection to the server or the stream was not found.' Firstly I am treating this as a progressive download, not streaming. Second this plays fine locally, it's only when I upload to a server it fails. The FLV is in a folder directly below the SWF. Result is same with FLV in same location as SWF. MIME type set to vide/x-flv although I've also set it to applicaiton/octet-stream.
    This is a very basic requirement to call the video directly from Flash, the default parameters of the component are adequate and work locally. However the video does not play. Is it fair to assume this functionality simply does not work correctly within Flash CS5.5? I'm unclear as to what >less< I could be doing with this file.

    You can place the Flash and any Flash assets in any folder location that you want.... provided that you understand how Flash assets (like .flv files) are "Pathed" or located by the .swf that is calling them. The underlying principle is that the Flash assets need to be pathed relative to the Web page that the .swf is located on, NOT the actual, physical location of the .swf.
    For review:
    Pathing issues
    Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
    You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
    Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location.  So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
    In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
    So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.
    Best wishes,

    www.cidigitalmedia.com
    So you can place the .flv wherever you want, but you can't just go and move the .flv without also correcting the path to the .flv inside the .swf.
    So be sure that you have the .flv in the correct subfolder before you do any insert of the Flash player.
    Also I'm not a great fan of requiring my viewers use the latest and greatest (and most bug filled version) of any pluggin or software for that matter.
    <param name="swfversion" value="11.0.0.0" />
    I refer NOT to upgrade to ver 11 so will not be seeing your Flash anytime soon. If you want to appeal to a large audience, change that to version 10.
    Best wishes,

  • Connection Error with iPod mini to Bose Home Theater System

    When connecting my iPod mini to my Bose Home Theater system, it recognizes that iPod has been connected, but after the "Acquiring Signal" process, it gives me an "iPod connection error. Please re-insert iPod into docking station." I tried several times, but the result is the same.
    My iPod mini has been updated with the latest software, and I did a system restore to return everything to factory defaults, but still no luck.
    Any suggestions.

    Hi. What you need to do is Launch DVD Player. Go to Preferences. Select Disc Setup tab. In Audio Output under Audio in the second part of the menu, select Digital Out-Built-in-Output. Then click OK. See if this works, 'cause mine does.

  • Cannot enable ePrint Web Services - get internet connection error for HP LaserJet 1102W

    I have a HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  We just changed over to Comcast internet service from AT&T where my HP LaserJet 1102W was set up for ePrint.  After several hours, I was finally able to add the 1102W printer to the Comcast network, access the Embedded Web Server tool and print wirelessly but I cannot set up ePrint.  I have deleted the printer but cannot get it to connect to Web Services.  I keep on getting:  Connection Error. Check Internet Connection but again, I can print wirelessly successfully to the printer but would like to be able to set it back up for ePrint.  My Comcast router is an Arris TG862.
    I have updated the firmware and used the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool but still am not able to get the ePrint Web Services to connect.  Here is the information from the Networking page of the EWS:

    Hi Surf1981,
    I understand that you're not able to enable web services on your printer.  I would try steps listed below.
    1. Open an internet browser type printer's IP address.
    2. Should bring you to the printer's status page.
    3. Select networking tab at the top.
    4. Left hand side select Network Identification.
    5. Under DNS address Configuration select Manual DNS Server.
    6. For Preferred enter 8.8.8.8
    7. For Alternate enter 8.8.4.4
    8. Select apply. You might get a warning saying this could interrupt connection that's fine.
    9. Turn printer off for about 30 seconds then try again.
    **If you find this helpful or want to say thanks make sure to click the white star under my name to give me Kudos. **

    Windows 8.1 Update
    64 bit version
    Printer connected wirelessly
    "Connection Error:  The printer was unable to connet to the server.  Check your internet connection and try again."   I get this message when touching the "Apps" Icon on the printer touch screen.
    "Problem with printer"  Displayed on the HP Connected website under Devices.
    I have tried every solution offered here to no avail including resetting the IP address for wireless on IPv4 - primary to read 8.8.8.8. and secondary to read 8.8.4.4.  I didn't  pull the power plug then replug, power on and set printer to default settings.   Would that fix everything?
    Every function works; I can print wirelessly, print out to my eprint address and print from other devices on my network, but I get the above error message everytime I hit the "App" icon on the printer touch screen.  I even get the Crossword Puzzle daily from eprint.

    I searched this forum for answer and only relevent answer from oracle was: consult README file! Readme file mentions that lobocijdbc.so file is shared library file for oci connection. That't all. So what?
    I added the directory where libocijdbc8.so resides to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and System.getProperty("java.library.path") shows content of LD_LIBRARY_PATH correctly.
    null

    Please this is not simple as simple as checking the classpath and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    I tried the sample program and the result is the same. As pointed out first by Won, putting the libocijdbc8.so from SDK8.1.6 in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH has no effect at all. It gives the unsatisfied linker error. The sample program fails. However the sample program works fine with the libocijdbc8.so from sdk8.1.5. The library gets loaded. But at the time of creating the connection it gives make_c_state error.
    Here is my CLASSPATH, PATH and LD_LIBARY_PATH variables
    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/8.1.5
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib:/opt/oracle/product/8.1.5/lib
    PATH=/usr/openwin/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/ccs/bin:/usr/ucb:/opt/oracle/product/8.1.5/lib
    Hope you are able to provide better answer then check your environment variables.
    THE libocijdbc8.so FROM SDK8.1.6 DOES NOT GET LOADED AT ALL.
    Waiting for the reply.
    Please Help.

  • Why am I getting a "connection error" when trying to buy a paid app in the Mac App Store?

    Okay, so I am currently running OS X Mountain Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro 15 inch (early 2013). I haven't had any problems so far. However, today I tried buying a $10 app in the app store, and when I put in my login credentials to validate the purchase, it showed a loading wheel for about five minutes, then showed in red text, "Connection Error," just below the login fields. I've researched this issue and found it to be a bug in Lion... but no solutions for Mountain Lion. Any ideas?
    I tried doing the thing with the Keychain Access, but there were no blue pluses under "Certificates." I should also mention that my network connection is fine.
    Thanks in advance fellow Apple dudes!

  • SpamAssassin / Amavisd tuning - TCP active open: Failed connect() errors

    I started this post as we were experiencing a problem with occassional delayed mail delivery to our mail store. As I continued writing it, I think that I've resolved it. But I wanted to post this anyway so if I'm doing things right it might help someone else; or, if I'm doing something wrong someone can correct me. :) For reference, we have a quad Sun v440, and process about 500,000 messages a day.
    We were seeing messages like this in our log files:
    09-Nov-2006 08:28:09.37 tcp_scan Q 1 [email protected] rfc822;[email protected] @tcp_scan-daemon:[email protected] TCP active open: Failed connect() Error: Connection timed out
    example.com represents our local domain. The errors seemed to occur proportionally to the amount of incoming mail we received. That is, we saw more of them under load.
    We are running SpamAssassin, Amavisd/clamav, and:
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-5.01 (built Nov 22 2005)
    libimta.so 6.2-5.01 (built 11:57:57, Nov 22 2005)
    SunOS hostname 5.9 Generic_118558-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440
    This line seems to say that the message is in the tcp_scan channel, and cannot send to 127.0.0.1:10024 (amavisd) because that port isn't listening.
    My amavisd max_servers was set at 15. After reading http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/amavisd-new-magdeburg-20050519.pdf and making a wild guess, I increased it to 30. The errors were less frequent, but still occurred.
    The output of 'sar -d' showed that my local disk was experiencing upwards of 80% utilization. I moved the amavisd temp directory and the spamassassin bayes db to a san volume, and that sped everything up dramatically. The connect errors went away, clamav avg time per message is at 4 seconds down from 10. I am now receiving errors from spamassassin that say:
    Nov 9 10:27:27 hostname.example.com spamd[21601]: prefork: server reached --max-children setting, consider raising it
    My --max-children is set to 25 right now, and the server is cpu bound under heavy load, so I see no reason to raise it.
    So this is my setup. I am no longer having an immediate problem, but comments/questions are welcome.

  • Quake live connection error

    Hi fellow archers,
    I have a problem with quake live (www.quakelive.com). When I login, the plugin loads and then I get a connection error.
    We're sorry, but it appears you are having problems connecting to the QUAKE LIVE network. If you are behind a firewall you must make sure that it permits the following connection:
    Protocol: TCP
    Host: xmpp.quakelive.com
    Port: 5222
    The port is open on my hardware firewalls, and I don't have a software firewall installed. I can play quake live from both ubuntu and windows 7, which use the same local IP address.
    Firefox outputs the following:
    $ firefox
    CONNECT_THROTTLE - Connect()
    CONNECT_THROTTLE - Connect()
    I tried to remove the plugin and installed data (~/.quakelive and the plugin in the ~/.mozilla folder) serveral times, but it doesn't fix the problem.
    Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance

    @655321, your problem is different.  Quake Live plugin still uses libpng 1.2.  There are aur packages for libpng 1.2.
    Sorry Silverwing but I do not know what could be causing your problem.
    You are totally right, firefox output shows an error concerning libpng, will try it out and come back with results!
    Firefox spams this warning while trying to load game:
    libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.2.24
    libpng warning: Application  is  running with png.c from libpng-1.4.3
    libpng warning: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
    However, the following libpng packages appears installed on my system:
    extra/libpng 1.4.3-1
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics files
    local/libpng12 1.2.44-1
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics files
    So i already have libpng 1.2, the problem still lies in the libpng version I think, (Ihave 1.2.44 and quake live needs 1.2.24). I cant find the AUR for this package but nothing shows or its under a different name, can you point out which one is the correct package to install?
    pacman -Ss outputs this:
    extra/libpng 1.4.3-1 [installed]
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics files
    multilib/lib32-libpng 1.4.3-3 [installed]
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics files
        (32-bit)
    aur/devkitppc-portlibs-libpng 1.4.1-1 (1)
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics files
    aur/k3d-libpng.patch 0.8.0.1-1 (0)
        k-3d is a complete free-as-in-freedom 3D modeling, animation and
        rendering system.
    aur/lib32-libpng12 1.2.44-1 (271)
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics files
        (32-bit)
    aur/libpng12 1.2.44-1 [installed] (1677)
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics files
    aur/libpng-old 1.0.2-2 (13)
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics files,
        builds libpng.3, libpngpf.3 and libpng.so.2 (libpng.so.2.1.0.2)
    aur/mingw32-libpng 1.4.3-2 (30)
        A collection of routines used to create PNG format graphics
    EDIT: In case this version is not available on the AUR I can write the PKGBUILD (never done it but I would like to learn ) in order to help other peple. That version is available under the libpng-stable tree here:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/libpng/files/
