Cant get offline servicing to work
Have tried rebooting as recommended in other posts and then running DISM /Cleanup-wim , however it still prompts with the above in the offline servivingmgr.log
Also cant manually delete the folders, need to update my windows 8.1 and server 2012 images. Could this be because my site server that the offline servicing is running 2008 R2?
Really dont want to have to rebuild and recapture images just so they can have the latter updates....

"Win32 Error = 5" is "Access Denied"
A lot of things are possible here, but ultimately it comes down to the account being used and the permissions on the folder. It's possible the permissions have been corrupted. Have you tried resetting them?

Right before, the error you mentioned, I see a couple of file not found message. You might want to check those, still it can be anything from a file that doesn't exist till too little disk space.

  • Web services wont work no matter what i do

got a new laserjet MFP M127FW and everything thus far works except eprint.
IF i can get it to enable, it only does so after i reboot (power cycle) the printer.
if i try and enable it via the web management it will never say it was enabled, it just clocks (spinning icon that says connecting)
then SOMETIMES the web interface will say its enabled and SOMETIMES i can see the randomly generated email it gives me, BUT it only lasts for about 5 minutes then Web Services disables itself again.
i have forwarded everyport listed in this forum and the how to created by someone here.
I have even put the printer in the DMZ - still doesnt work.
N-O-T-H-I-N-G is making Web services work... period.
I have flashed the firmware to the latest (did that right out of the box)
there is nothing left for me, as the user to do... eprint/web services is broken. period.
i saw someone state that the code that is supposed to print is the name in the randomly generated email you are given.
and i tried to use that to register the unit on hpconnect but it just says "unexpected error"
also when i try to do things from the lcd screen, such as print information sheet, enable/disable web services, view email, it just clocks (never ending spinning icon.. i left it like that overnight and it never stopped.
IF i am fast enough and see the randomly generated email in the Web GUI, and then try to use the LCD to print the code, or do anything aside from via email, (which it does display if the web gui shows it) it says the services are unavailable
once again, i have spent the last 2 days, totalling over 10 hours trying to make this work and IF it is enabled, i think it is just a false positive, even though the random email does display it doesnt work and then within 5 minutes, web services disables itself again.
I am not some average user, i am a 20yr veteran of PC/MAC/Networking, and i have never seen a printer do this that wasnt flat out broken.
but since this is the only thing not working, thus far, i believe it to simply be a firmware issue.
lastly.... when trying to enable the web services the NIC lights on the back of the printer are blinking 100% nonstop, forever and ever.. until i power cycle it.
its as if the web services is locked up or stuck in a loop.
also restore defaults from the LCD or web GUI doesnt do anything... nothing is changed... and i am never presented with the initial startup like one would expect.
is there a way to force the printer to an out of the box state where it flushes anything and everything back to a factory state? (where i have to go through the initial setup again ?
    p.s.
network settings are fine, i can print to the printer from ipads, iphone, pc's and 2 MAC's.. so everything on the network side works... just not Web services

I was able to talk to a fantastic tech in cloud services who remembered a nun documented fix
USE THE LEVEL 3 DNS SERVERS!!! No other DNS servers will work
This literally within 10 seconds made HP Web Services work!!!!
    209.244.0.3
    209.244.0.4
I Switched my entire network to this
    Huge kudos to cloud services!!!

  • Location services wont work on my iphone 4, when up dating facebook status doesn't say "nearyby" how do i get it to work?

need help! location services arrow wont turn purple and everything is on !

The password is set on the WiFi router providing the service, by the owner of the network to prevent unwanted "guests" accessing the network.  The only way to know it is to ask the owner permission to use the network.  Otherwise, you  have to find a free WiFi hotspot that doesn't require a password.

  • Offline Servicing Failed - Unable to delete existing mount directory

    Hi All,
I'm unable to run offline servicing on my install image, as the deletion of a previous mount point fails (from OfflineServicingMgr.log):
    Deleting file \\?\C:\ConfigMgr_OfflineImageServicing\GRO000E7\ImageMountDir\Windows\Fonts\trebucbi.ttf, FAILED, Win32 Error = 1168
Failed to remove previously existing staging folder C:\ConfigMgr_OfflineImageServicing\GRO000E7, GLE = 1168
Failed to remove the staging folder C:\ConfigMgr_OfflineImageServicing, GLE = 1168
    I've tried:
DISM /cleanup-wim - returns all stale files removed, but the directory remains
DISM /cleanup-mountpoints - returns all stale files removed, but the directory remains
Manually deleting the folder - which returns the error 0x80070490 Element not found
I presume I could work around this by deleting the existing image in SCCM, re-creating using the WIM, then it should have a different packageID and hence use a different mount point for offline servicing?
I'd rather not do this, so if anyone has any ideas on something else to try, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Iain

We had a similar problem, after the server had it's standard maintenance reboot, I was able to get the DISM /cleanup-wim to work. Then I was able to delete the folder. Don't know whether or not you've had a chance to reboot the server but that couldn't
hurt to try if you're able to do that. Good luck.

  • SCCM 2012 Offline Servicing used, but still installed during Task Sequence

I have a SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 environment and I updated my Windows 7 Enterprise x64 image install.wim with all security patches using Offline Servicing..a nice feature...works perfectly.
But when using this new updated image in my Task Sequence I noticed that still 150+ patches are installed during the Install Updates phase in my task sequence. More then 130 of them are already added using Offline Servicing so why are they added again
What is going wrong here....what am i missing....

I am having a similar issue, however I have updated my dp and it still occurs. I am doing an offline service of Windows 8.1. The update status shows a bunch of updates that have been installed, yet when deploying my TS it sill installs about 70 or 80 updates.
I have compared and the updates that are being installed are listed in the updates status window. I have checked the OfflineServicingMgr.log and the only error is:
    Deleting file \\?\C:\ConfigMgr_OfflineImageServicing\UCO00121\ImageMountDir\Admin Desktop Wallpaper.JPG, FAILED, Win32 Error = 1168
Failed to remove the staging folder C:\ConfigMgr_OfflineImageServicing, GLE = 1168
It seems everything else completes fine so i cannot determine if this is causing my issues? Has anyone else had this problem before? I haven't tried with Windows 7 as we are no longer using it.

I hope that MS solution is not to deselect  each time updates until I will find it manually
    any solutions please?

Re: I bought a used MacBook Pro (mid 2010).  How do I change settings so that I am the owner instead of "tourist"?
Feb 16, 2014 11:56 AM (in response to Dee SeaWarrior)
The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter theserial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to thetechnical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the Ckey at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can boot from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted in Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 - Offline Servicing failure - Failed to find or access the update binaries to be applied on the image

    Hi there
Trying to patch a new Windows 7 SP1 image within SCCM 2012 SP1, but it's failing.
I've searched for information on the failure messages I am seeing, but although there is a LOT of information online concerning Offline Servicing failures, I can't find anything on the errors I am seeing.
I've tried injecting a single update, five updates and ten updates, no difference, same messages.
We have McAfee Access Protection disabled, as we know Offline Servicing simply won't work if this is running.
In the console, in Schedule Update Status for the image I am trying to update, the following message is shown:
"Failed to find or access the update binaries to be applied on the image."
That sounds as if the process can't find the actual .cab file for any update I've tried to inject, but I don't know why it wouldn't be able to do that, we have Software Updates configured and the .cab files are on the same server.
When I looked at the OfflineServicingMgr.log file, I see the following entries:

I'm not sure what file "Failed to find properties of file 4" is referring to, whether dism.exe, an update or the image itself, but immediately after this message appears the image is unmounted. After that this message shows:
"Completed processing image package PackageID. Status = Failed"
As I say, there's a lot of information available re Offline Servicing but I haven't found anything with these particular messages.
If anyone has encountered this before, I'd appreciate any information you have.

    John.

    Hi,
I think file named 'NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS’ might be causing this issue. If this file is present in logical drives, then please give it a shot one more time after deleting this file from the logical drives.
Due to this file, it might be preventing 'smsexec' service to skip the drive when looking for content. So worth a try!
After deleting this file, you also need to restart 'smsexec' service to reflect the changes. You can also verify from below registry value & ensure that all of your logical drives (specially where SCCMContentLib directory resides) should be listed
    over there
    'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\DP\ContentLibUsableDrives'
    Hope this will help!

  • Offline Servicing failing (InstallUpdate returned code 0x800f0830)

    Hello All,
    I've just inherited a SCCM 2012 Setup.
I was trying to use the Offline Servicing feature and noticed that all updates were failing.
After reading the forum, I read that this didn't work well in 2012 SP1 (the version the deployment had when I got here) and have upgraded in the mean time to 2012 R2 CU2.
Unfortunately, the behavior has not changed.
    What I've tried so far:
    - Updated the rights on the folder where the OSD image reside to Full Control for everyone ( to eliminate security issues)
    - added exclusions in the SCEP client for the offline servicing folder and the dism processes.
    - disabled the scep client all together to avoid it interfering
    - Disabled UAC
The entries I'm seeing in the log are the following:

  • I just bought an android phone and the previous owner of the number had an iphone and imessage wont work, how do I fix that?

I just bought an android phone and the previous owner of the number had an iphone and imessage wont work, how do I fix that?
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4, and my wife has an iphone. We found out that imessage wont come through from her. After we went to the AT&T helpdesk they said that she could turn off imessage on her phone and that I would get texts on my S4. But then so would everyone else who has an iphone. That  won't work for everyone in my company that has an iphone. So what I am wondering is- since I recently got this phone, should I get a new number? Or should I contact ATT or contact Apple to try and get this number de-activated? I'm thinking I'll never get into the icloud account that this number is attached to, but maybe someone has some advice on that?
I just sincerely want imessage to work on this phone and I'm willing to take the steps to do that.
    Please help

Either one of the two should work - getting new number from carrier or contacting Apple to revoke phone number from imessage system.
That is if your problem is described correctly.

  • Scheduled webi reports fail, why? If I restart BO services they work again

    Hello.
I'm having a problem with my scheduled Webi reports and I don't know what is causing it.  I have some reports scheduled to run at 8:00 am, and are supposed to be sent to a determined e-mail. Last week it worked well and the reports were sent to their destination successfuly, then this week the same reports didn't reach their destination.  I verified in the History option and all of them showed a Failed status.  I checked the detail and this is what it shows:
Unexpected exception caught. Reason: [java.lang.NullPointerException: i_statusInfo is null.]
If I try to reschedule these reports or any other report or a new report I get the same error.  The only way I can make the schedule option work again  for my webi reports is restarting  BusinessObjects services.
But I guess this is not the right solution.
What can I do? How can I determine what is causing my scheduled webi reports fail?
What does  this java.lang.NullPointerException: i_statusInfo is null message mean?
Is there a way I could track the service that is failing? which BO service is the service that manage the Schedule reports?
    Any help is welcome.
