Outlook 2010: show subfolders in Favorites for a folder in Public Folders

I have a folder in Public Folders / All Public folders that I would like to see in my mail items favorites.  I right clicked on it, clicked "Add to Favorites" and selected the options to show subfolders (i.e. "Add subfolders of this folder").
It then shows in the Public Folders / Favorites and shows subfolders there.  But, when I right click on the item in Public Folders / Favorites to add it to the mail item Favorites (Show in Favorites), there is no option to include subfolders and the subfolders
do not show in the mail items Favorites.  Any ideas?
Thank you.
Jerry

Hi,
Tested and I can confirm this is not possible in current versions. However, if you want to switch to folder list quickly when you are in Favorite folders, press CTRL+6 for workaround. Thanks.

  • Not all Conversations in Outlook 2010 Show as Expandable Until Selected

    Hi,
I've recently noticed that when using conversation view in Outlook 2010, not all of the conversations show the expandable arrow icon to the left. When the email is highlighted, however, the arrow appears and the conversation can be expanded as usual.
There doesn't appear to be any common factor in whether the arrow is initially shown or not (for example whether or not I was the last person to respond in the conversation, the other person or people in the conversation etc.).
I've observed this in other people's Outlook as well, so am wondering if anyone knows if there is a setting that I'm missing or if this is somehow 'by design'?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
We haven't seen such issues here with conversation view. However I still would suggest you to try out the following:
    1. Get Outlook, Word and MSO on the latest updates. Please refer the link below to check for the latest updates.
How to install the latest applicable updates for Microsoft Outlook (US English only) :
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2625547
    2. Check the issue in safe mode
    3. If the issue is still seen then disable all the add-ins and check the behavior again
    4. If the issue is still seen then please create new outlook profile and check the behavior
    5. If we still see the issue , then please uninstall office and reinstall back and check the behavior
    6. If we still see the issue then create new windows profile and check the behavior
Once you have exhausted the steps and issue is still seen, then I would appreciate if you can open phone support case with Microsoft so that we can collect logs and analyze the same and help you out to resolve the concern.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Re-sent Sent Email In Outlook 2010 Showing as Being Sent to the Previous Recipient

    When re-sending a previously sent item from within Outlook 2010, after a few seconds, the newly re-sent email is showing as being sent to the last recipient who the email is sent to. For example;
I send an email to [email protected] I then want to send the email to [email protected].. so I click Sent Items, double click the email I have just sent, on the Message tab in the Move group, I click Actions and then click Resend This Message.
I remove the original recipient and add the new recipient and click Send.
I check my sent items a few seconds later and the newly sent email ([email protected]) is showing as being sent to [email protected] However, the re-sent email has actually be sent to the correct recipient.
I would appreciate any advice on this.

    Hi,
I assume this issue is related to the corrupted nickname cache. Does this issue occur with certain recipients? If so, I suggest you remove the nickname cache entries of these recipients:
    Open a new email message.
Type the first few characters of the nickname cache entry that you want to remove from the cache.
When the entry appears in the list of suggested names, move your mouse pointer over the name until it becomes highlighted, but do not click the name.
When the “X” icon appears next to the highlighted name, click X to remove the name from the list.
If this happens to all recipients, we can consider to reset the whole Outlook nickname cache for Outlook 2010:
    Open Outlook 2010.
On the File tab, click Options.
    Click the Mail tab.
Under Send Messages, click Empty Auto-Complete List.
    Click Yes.
I hope the information is helpful to you.

  • Outlook 2010 show all users presence not just those you added to Jabber?

A customer has requested that in Outlook 2010 that Presence state is show for all users.  Not just those that have been added to their Jabber for Windows 9.7.1 client.
Is there any way to do this?
    J4W 9.7.1
    IMP 10.0.1SU1

    So for all users in consideration; kindly check if the proxy address field in AD is populated with the following format or not;
SIP:uid@sipproxydomainname  ... ( this is also the IM address and please note prefixing with the word SIP: is really important).
    Note this field will ensure whether you get the presence consistently or not. Refer to the following document for more information;

  • Outlook 2010 makes unexpected HTTPS connection for unrelated profile

I originally posted this in the Outlook forum, but was pointed here instead.
I have a number of different Outlook profiles, for unrelated Exchange accounts.
I recently noticed that a client's firewall log was showing unexpected failed logon attempts to port 443, from my IP, using my PC name and username. I eventually found that these connections corresponded to my starting Outlook 2010 on my PC, loading my usual
Outlook profile (unrelated to the client, although I do have another Outlook profile for this client's Exchange server.)
Recreating my usual profile didn't fix it. Eventually I created a test profile that contains just an empty PST file and the Fax service, and even opening this profile causes a failed HTTPS (presumably RPC over HTTPS) connection to the client.
Why would Outlook be making HTTPS connections (presumably RPC over HTTPS) to a server that isn't referenced in a profile? How can I remove such references?
    Thanks.

This was marked as the answer, but it is not.
I use RPC-over-HTTP for all the accounts, so I can't disable it.
The question is why is Outlook attempting to connect to the server referenced in profile X when I'm connecting (successfully) to a entirely different server referenced in different profile Y?
    Thanks.

  • Outlook 2010 corrupting incoming pdf attachments for one user

I have one user here that is having incoming pdf attachments get corrupted in Outlook 2010. When she tries to open the file, it gives
the error "Adobe Reader could not open filename.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." I can open the pdf files in her
webmail, and I also installed another mail client which can open the same email attachment fine. It is obviously something about Outlook 2010 that is corrupting the pdf. I have  a comparison of email headers from a good email and a corrupt email, as well
as a comparison of the content of a good pdf file vs a corrupt one. The corrupt pdf is all zero's. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!

    Hi,
Please try to save the PDF file to local and then double-click to open it if you haven't tried this.
Also make sure the user has installed the latest version of Adobe Reader.
In addition, did the user get the PDF attached email from an online mail interface? If so, please try to send the user an PDF attachment email using Outlook to check the result. Some email providors (especially web email) encode the PDF's for a faster
transfer but when they are received at the other end, they aren't recognized as a PDF so they get corrupted. See:

    Hello vfrio,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you edited your existing Apple ID to a new email address and changed the password as well. To change this on your computer, you will need to sign out of the old account and into the new Apple ID in iCloud for Windows. Please use the attached article as a further reference.
What to do after you change your Apple ID email address or password - Apple Support
    Windows PC
Open iCloud for Windows and click Sign Out.
If you're signed out, sign in with your updated Apple ID or password. The data in iCloud will automatically appear on your device after you sign in.
If you're signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Click Sign Out. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked if you want to make copies or delete iCloud data (Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Bookmarks, Photo Stream) from your PC. Click Delete. Your data will remain in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Sign in with your updated Apple ID or password.

  • Unable to access BCM 2010 DB with Outlook 2010 after running compatibility pack for Outlook 2013

After reading about the Description of Business Contact Manager compatibility pack for Outlook at this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2793723 it clearly states "Business Contact Manager for Microsoft Outlook is a compatibility pack that enables
Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 and Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2010 to run in Microsoft Outlook 2010 and Microsoft Outlook 2013. Business Contact Manager for Outlook (BCM) also supports using Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 in a side-by-side
installation."  This link also states "General product fixes, including stability and performance improvements."
So, I was hoping for some stability and performance improvements but desired to continue running from Outlook 2010.  After running this downloaded compatibility pack it had little messages other than completed. If I try to run it again it says the database
is already updated.  however, now I cannot open the BCM DB in Outlook 2010.  when I try to connect to it from Outlook 2010 BCM it only opens a small window with no message, only a yellow exclamation sign.  It also won't allow me to restore the
    back up.
Can I undo what the compatibility pack program did to my BCM 2010 DB?
Now it won't allow me to restore a DB from two days ago. It gives this error "Access is denied due to a password failure. RESTORE FILELIST is terminating prematurely".  I know the password is correct.
Please help, anyone? Now I'm starting to freak out a bit.  I am going to reinstall BCM and pray.
I was able to restore the two day old DB by not entering a password. Odd since I know I backed up using a password.

  • Outlook 2010, stuck at updating inbox for users

Hi. I am a support technician at a company.
We had a lot of Windows XP, Outlook 2007, systems, e-mail worked excellent.
We then migrated to Outlook 2010, the XP systems continue working without problems.
However I've been having some random Windows 7 systems, Outlook 2010, having this issue of the inbox not updating, it just stays stuck at "Updating Inbox" and can stay like that for the whole day.
This is causing issues because some of those users are VP and of course want their email right away.
I've tried recreating ost, profile, and issue reappears. However I'm not sure if users don't report it, or if it's just random, because I don't hear about it everyday, just randomly maybe once a week or two times a week.
None of what I've tried has work, new ost, new profile, repair account, even a new installation of Office. Issue keeps reappearing. Safe mode has same problem. OWA and phones update right away.
The closest I've come to sort of fixing it is running a repair of Office, after the repair, the emails go through right away, but then issue reappears days later.
I'm not really sure what could be causing this. I've searched online and seem to find a lot of similar problems with no conclusive solution.
Some of the things in common, these users receive lots of emails in the mornings, have lots of folders underneath inbox.
If only it would download them slowly, but it just appears stuck when this happens.

    Hi,
According to your description, if owa works fine, it most likely a outlook client issue.
I recommend that you post this in office forum, there will more experts to help you:

  • Outlook 2010 shows different user on sent on behalf of line

    Hi,
I am having an issue where a user has send on behalf permission to a mailbox. This mailbox is also set to forward any mail to another mailbox.
When a user running outlook 2010 sends an email from this mailbox, it goes fine, but when you look at the from field of the sent email it shows as the mailbox it is set to forward to. So [email protected] is set to forward all incoming mail to [email protected],
and user A has permssion to send on behalf of [email protected]
When user A tries to do that, the recieved mail should show in the from field as user A on behalf of [email protected] but instead shows as [email protected] on behalf of [email protected]
I have users running outlook 2003 that have no issue with this. Is there anyway to change what outlook 2010 will display in the from field of the sent email, as we want the recipient to have a named point of contact, but all mail to go into the same mailbox
so if that user is away another can pick it up.
Sorry if it makes little sense...

    Hi,
    Please make sure
[email protected] doesn’t have any related permissions(Send as permission, send on behalf of rights, full access permission) to User A. We can remove
[email protected] from Forward To filed in EMC then check whether the send on behalf message shows correct in from filed:
    1. Open Exchange Management Console, expand Recipient Configuration > Mailbox.
    2. Right-click [email protected] > Properties.
    3. In Mail Flow Settings tab, click Delivery Options > Properties.
    4. Make sure User A is listed in Send on behalf permission list. And uncheck Forward to checkbox.
    5. Click OK > Apply > OK.
Then check whether the issue persists. If the issue resolved, then set the forward to back to have a try.

  • After Migration using -ArchiveOnly, On Prem Outlook 2010 showing duplicate of primary as the archive mailbox

We are testing the hybrid migration to Office 365:
    Federation and DirSync in place and working -- Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5 -- Outlook 2010 SP2 (14.0.7116.5000)
I have a Primary Mailbox and an Archive Mailbox -- I moved the Archive to Office 365.
I got the familiar "Your Admin has made a change ... You must restart Outlook ..."
Afterwards I get my primary mailbox "Inbox - <email address>" and  "Archive <email address>" for the Archive mailbox, but the content is the Primary Mailbox
I have two copies of the Primary mailbox and No archive.
I create a new session to onmicrosoft.com then, "get-mailboxfolderstatisitcs -Identity
'[email protected]' -Archive | ft Identity, ItemsInFolder, FolderSize", I see names, counts, and sizes that are definitely my archive.
No License on Office 365 is checked -- I assumed the migration of the Archive would take care of that.
How do I get my Outlook client to see the Archive and not dup the Primary mailbox in its place?

    Hi,
My issue is resolved after disabling of Outlook Anywhere on EX2007 servers.
I have to install new certificate & root certificate into all the clients & issue was resolved.
But my non-domain join clients like WinXp with SP3 with Office 2007/Office 2010 who connects from branches like Banglore, Hyderabad they are getting password prompt pop-up but its working fine for Win7 & Win8 clients.
    For password prompt issue i ran this command on EX2010 cas server but still no luck;
    Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:*.domain.com
    But I found the solution for this;
by adding below 5 registry keys & uncheck of Proxy settings in Outlook settings resolved the password
    promt issue.

  • Exchange 2010 - Exchange 2013 permanent coexsistence to avoid migration of Public Folders

    Hi Guys,
I was hoping to get some opinions/ advices regarding the case explained below.
The company I work for has a medium-sized Exchange 2010 infrastructure that consists of several geographically dispersed 2-node DAGs and corresponding CASArrays. It hosts about 1000 mailboxes in total and large public folder database that is replicated on
every mailbox server in the environment. All users are using Outlook 2010/2013.
There is a business drive to perform migration to Exchange 2013. However, migration of the Public Folders is not feasible because of the lack of multimaster replication, the complicated migration process and several other limitations in Ex2013 PFs.
To work around this issue while still performing the migration I am considering the following scenario:
Deploy Exchange 2013 servers in the organization
Migrate all mailboxes to Exchange 2013 servers
Don't ever start migration of Public Folders (leave one Exchange 2010 mailbox server in every location for hosting the Public Folder database)
Keep the coexistence permanently (with mailboxes on 2013 and public folders on 2010)
What do you think of this setup? Do you see any issues with such long-term coexistence?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can leave the public folders on Exchange 2010 if you can’t migrate them to Exchange 2013. Exchange 2013 users can access public folders on Exchange 2010, but Exchange 2010 users can’t access public folders on Exchange 2013.

  • Exchange 2013 public folders are sending read receipts for items viewed in public folders

We have Exchange 2013 with public folders.  These public folders are used for a large amount of shared contacts.  When a user goes into the public folders and double clicks on a contact to view it, Exchange dispatches a read receipt to all users
that are configured as publishing editors to notify them that a certain contact was read.  How do I disable this option?

    hi again dear.. :)
"At first, I would like to say the
read Receipt is not sent out by the device, it is sent out by the Exchange server. This is how it works and what happens:
    1.
    E-mail with request for send
    receipt is received on the Exchange server;
    2.
E-mail is synchronized with Windows Mobile based device using Exchange
    ActiveSync;
    3.
    When e-mail is
    read on Windows Mobile based device the read status is synchronized back to the Exchange server;
    4.
The Exchange server creates and sends out the
    Read Receipt when receiving the Read status update from the device;
The above is how this is implemented and there is no functionality which allows preventing this from occurring on the Mobile device.
It seems that there is an alternative method to disable RR using transport rules. However, it will at the risk of the filtering out other messages
    with the same subject.
Towards the third party mobile clients that support RR and DR, you might consider using Flexmail 4.11. It’s impossible to deactivate ActiveSync
    RRs in Exchange server 2007/2010."
    also
One way to stop read receipts being triggered through client side configuration on the mobile is to use the option "Don't Mark Read on server".
I have tested this successfully using this option in the TouchDown mail client on Android.
Not sure if the standard or other mail clients do support this option, TouchDown certainly does and it works.
The side effect obviously is, that the read status isn't synced back to Exchange anymore:"
hope now i r clear... one way or the other... you need to send a feed back or define a transport rule... but that again may create problem with the same subject :)

  • Outlook 2010 shows hand under folders non shared

    Hi,
we've just moved from exchange 2003 to exchange 2010.
Some users are facing this problem.
Some (sometimes all) folders have a "hand" under, like they're shared.
But the users never shared those folders.
    How can this happen?
Into the properties is present a orphaned SID.
Dunno if is a migration issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I saw a similar thread before. Here is the situation in that thread.
User shared many folders with others before migration of Exchange. After migration, this user wanted to remove all of the users he was sharing the folder with. Then this user moved those users and changed the permission level back to 'none' under default
permission. Afterwards, the hand under folders like that the folder is still being shared.
This issue was caused by that when you change the permission level back to 'none' it does not complete remove all the permission entries. Sometimes, the 'Folder visible' entry for 'Other' section still selected. This caused he folder to still be visible
and thus still considered to be 'shared'. De-selecting that 'Folder visible' entry or all other options under default permission level solved issue in that thread.
    Best Regards.
