Outlook 2011 Sent Items

Why is Outlook 2011 flagging sent items as new after sending. Sent items appear to be treated as new messages, but why? This is frustrating, as I don't want to read a sent item just after I've sent it!!
Using Outlook 2011 SP1 with latest Office updates. Google Apps via IMAP.
Cheers, Rob.

  • Outlook sync sent items

Has anyone had any issues trying to get outlook syncing sent items:
    - If I send a mail from Mobile me wed site then it gets sync'd to Outlook sent items
    - If i send a mail from my iphone it appears in my sent items
    - If i send a mail from Outlook it DOES NOT appear in my sent items in either outlook or on mobile me
    Any ideas??
I am using Outlook 2003 / Win XP

    Sort of same issue.
Just ran a quick test PC – running Vista and MS Office 2008 (the new one), Mac running Leopard and MS Office for Mac 2008 (latest version,) all updates on Windows, MS Office (PC and Mac) and Leopard (I just installed the latest update (Mac OSX) and will re-check after it’s installed.
Sent emails do not post either way (between Entourage and PC/Outlook)
(All emails from BB and PC transfer just fine.)
Contacts seem to post between all devices – except for 1 that did not post from entourage to PC/BB – 1 did, 1 didn’t post from entourage to PC/BB
Appointments post from Entourage to PC. Appointments do not post from PC to Entourage.

  • Rules not working in Outlook 2010 Sent Items folder (Personal Folder)

I've been trying to automatically categorize and send emails I've written and sent to the archive's Sent Items folder.  However, everytime I create a rule for a particular type of email it doesn't carry it out.  The rule will only work when I manually
    click 'Run this rule now...'.
Here is what my rule looks like:
Apply this rule after the message arrives
    from Byron33
      and sent to 'XXX'
and with 'YYY' in the subject'
assign it to the 'ZZZ' category
and move it to the Sent Items folder (here, 'Sent Items' is in the Archive section)
But it doesn't work.  All my other rules work (for the inbox folder).  Any way in which I can get this rule to function automatically?

  • Organizing Outlook moving sent items in conversation view

Can someone shed some light on why in Outlook 2010 and now, since I have upgraded, 2013, sent items are not moved as part of the conversation?  If I have an email exchange and decide that I want to keep the conversation I click and drag the
whole conversation into a sub folder, but it leaves the items sent from me in the sent folder!!!  WHY!?!  Maybe I am missing some logic or reasoning to this, could someone PLEASE shed some light on this?
    Thanks

  • Sent messages aren't saved in the Sent Items folder in Outlook 2013

When we send a message in Outlook 2013, a copy of the message should be saved in the Sent Items folder by default. If Outlook doesn’t save a copy of the sent message, it may be caused by any one of the following
    reasons:
The “Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder”
    option in Outlook is disabled.
The save location for sent messages was changed to another folder.
There is a custom view set on Sent Items folder, or the view on
    Sent Items is corrupt.
Outlook Data File may be damaged.
To resolve the issue, use the appropriate method for your situation.
Enable the Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder
    option
To configure Outlook 2013 to save copies of your sent messages in the Sent Items folder, please follow these steps:
    1. Click File tab > Options.
    2. Click Mail on the left pane.
    3. Scroll to the Save Messages section, select the check box before “Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder”.
    4. Click OK.
If it is the replying message that is not saving to the Sent Items folder, we need to disable the “When replying to a message that is not in the Inbox, save the reply in the same folder” option in the location mentioned above.
If you’re using an IMAP account, please also make sure you didn’t select the “Do not save copies of sent items” in Account Settings. To check this, Please refer to the following steps:
    1. In Outlook, click File tab > Info.
    2. Click Account Settings > Account Settings, and then double-click your IMAP account to open the
    Change Account wizard.
    3. Click More Settings button.
    4. Under Sent Items heading, clear the check box before “Do not save copies of sent items”.
    5. Click OK and click Next to complete the configuration.
Make sure there is no rule or anything else to redirect sent messages to other folders
To check if it is caused by Outlook rules, please follow these steps:
    1. In Outlook 2013, click Home tab.
    2. Click Rules > Manage Rules & Alerts.
    3. In the rules list, check if there is any rule that applied to the sent messages may cause this issue.
In addition, some rules may be corrupt or hidden and we cannot see them from the rules list. We need to use the MFCMAPI tool to find and delete the corrupt/hidden rules. To do this, we can use the following steps:
    1. Download MFCMAPI tool from: http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com/
    2. Start MFCMAPI tool.
    3. Click Session menu >
Logon, select the Outlook profile you are using and click OK.
    4. Double-click the mailbox that contains the inbox rules that you want to delete.
    5. A new window will open. In the new window, expand
Root Container or Root – Mailbox, and then expand
Top of Information Store or IPM_SUBTREE.
    6. Right click on Inbox and select
    Open associated contents table.
    7. In the Inbox window, locate and then right-click the items that have the
IPM.Rule.Message message class, and then click Delete Message.
To identify a specific rule, you’ll have to select the rule in the top pane in MFCMAPI and then scroll down in the lower pane and look at the
Property name(s) column. Find the ptagRuleMsgName property name and check the value against the rule name you were trying to delete in Outlook.
    8. In the Delete Item dialog, select
DELETE_HARD_DELETE from the Deletion Style drop-down menu.
    9. Click OK.
Reset the view settings on Sent Items folder
If you accidently changed the view settings on Sent Items folder, this may cause some sent messages not visible in the folder. To check if you’ve set any view settings on Sent Items folder, please follow:
    1. In Outlook, select Sent Items folder.
    2. Click View tab from the Ribbon.
    3. Click View Settings button. If you notice the
Reset Current View button is clickable, it means the view settings for Sent Items have been changed before.
    4. Click the Reset Current View button and then check the Sent Items folder again.
Scan and repair the Outlook Data File
To repair the .pst file, please follow:
    1. Find and start the Inbox Repair Tool in the following path:
For Outlook 2013 on a 32-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
For Outlook 2013 on a 64-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
    2. In the Inbox Repair tool, click Browse to locate the PST file by using the Windows file system.
    3. Click Start.
    4. After the analysis scan has completed, it will present you with a scanning report and options for the next step. Click Repair button.
To repair the .ost file, since this type of data file is a copy of information saved on your mail server, we can just delete the OST file and restart Outlook to re-create a new one.

Same problem here, connecting to a Groupwise (not latest) server. Whenever Mail.app 3 tries to upload/save a new messsage to the server, it would not save and completely lose the message!
I found slightly more information by turning off the "Save to server" option for Sent and Drafts, created a new message that I saved as draft, and then tried to manually move items to the Drafts or Sent folder on the IMAP server.
The error I received was: The message <message> could not be moved to the mailbox <mailbox>-<account>. The IMAP command "APPEND" (to <mailbox>) failed with server error: APPEND NotJunk.
To my inexperienced eyes, it looks like the latest version of Mail changed it's default IMAP handling commands that may be incompatible with older IMAP servers. Anyone else have more insight or know how I can get back Mail.app 2.x from Tiger?

  • Sent items not saved in personal sent items when shared mailbox is open in outlook

    hi,
user is using exchange 2010 and the shared mailboxes are in exchange 2003. when user send an email as send as to the shared mailbox the sent items is not saved in her personal sent items. she can look up the sent items on her shared mailboxes sent items.
I tried recreating her profile when the shared mailboxes are not added in the outlook, personal sent items is okay  but when the shared mailboxes is added , sent items doesn't go to her personal sent items. Please help. Is it by design?

    Hi,
Since Exchange 2003 server is out of support, I still suggest migrating to Exchange 2010 server.
How about this behavior on OWA, if everything going well as expected, it should be an issue on the Outlook client side.
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.

  • Messages won't import from Entourage 2008 to Outlook 2011

My hard drive crashed on my MacBook Pro that was running Entourage 2008 for Mac. I have a back up of the Microsoft User Data file, and I want to upload it to Outlook 2011 for Mac. When I import the data, it pulls my calendar and complete folder structure into outlook perfectly. However, there are no messages/emails in any of the folders. I've tried it a couple times and same thing always happens. Transfers everything but the messages. The database is 19GBs, so I know the messages are on there.

To exporting Entourage data into Outlook 2011, select "Items to an Entourage archive" option and that gets export everything; mail, folders I've created, contacts, and calendar.

  • Outlook 2011 on MAC Sent Items folders not syncing when items are moved and deleted

Emails in the in the inbox can be moved to different folders and they will update (disappear from the inbox) on the Macbook with Outlook 2011 . the Windows PC outlook 2010, Iphone and OWA update accordingly. Sent Items that are moved on the Macbook are only
moved in the Macbook. The rest of the machines still have the email in the sent items folder and the "moved" email in the folder it was moved to.
Redid the identity and its a new install. What is next? Sent items are changed on the Macbook more often and the changes need to propagate across all the devices.

  • Sent items on yahoo Imap not synchronising with sent items on yahoo mail outlook 2011

I had a problem where the my yahoo imap  which I set up with Outlook 2011 was not synchronizing with Yahoo from the web.
I found the solution today by switching from Sent items( Server) to Sent( Server).
    1. Go to tools
    2. Accounts
    3.Advance options
    4. Folders
    5. Then you will see sent. Drop down the window and you will see what I have shown in the screen shot below.
It worked for me and now all my emails are synchronising very well.

the last sentence should read...."this folder do however only have the sent emails that was sent from my imac, and not the emails that was sent from my ipad".
I want all my sent items on all my devices the same, in other words the should come from the server and not the specific device I'm using

  • Sent messages from secondary account are not saved in Outlook 2011 for Mac

We are using a shared email account added in Outlook 2011 for Mac.  It's not the default account but we send from it often.
Whenever sending from this secondary mailbox, the message is not saved in sent items folder under the secondary mailbox or the default mailbox.  There seems to be no record of the sent item anywhere.
I verified the message is sent and received.
All microsoft updates have been applied and we are using Exchange 2010.

    Hello,
Please first log into OWA and check if the email are saved in the Sent Items folder.
We can tick the option "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder" in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 to save a copy of sent message, please check if you get such option in Outlook for Mac.
In addition, in Outlook for Windows, we can change a registry key to force Outlook to save sent emails in the default or secondary mailbox, but I'm not sure if Outlook 2011 has such trick. See:

  • Applescript to choose folders to save sent messages in Outlook 2011 for MAC

I want to create a rule to apply to messages as they are sent that gives me a dialog box in which to choose what folder I want to save the copy of the sent message (instead of the regular default of the Sent Items folder).
I just moved from a PC to a MAC and I miss this feature on Outlook 2011 for the MAC as I like to keep my replies/new messages sent in the same folders by subject as I leave received messages.
I've looked everywhere for an AppleScript I could use as part of a rule that applies to messages as they are sent and brings up a dialog box to chose the folder in which to save the sent message.
Anybody able to help here? It would be much appreciated!

    Hi ZRANY,
First, you must be aware that “Mail does not apply rules to sent messages - if you want to organize your sent messages in mailboxes together with your received messages, you have to manually select all messages in your "Sent" mailbox and choose "Apply Rules to Selection" from the menu.” ([Mail Scripts 2.10.2|http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html]).
That being said, maybe the following very simple script could act as a starting point:
    *using terms from application "Mail"*
*on perform mail action with messages theMessages*
    *tell application "Mail"*
    *repeat with eachMessage in theMessages*
*set theSubject to subject of eachMessage*
*choose from list (get name of mailboxes) with title "My mailboxes" with prompt "Subject: " & theSubject & return & return & "Select a mailbox where to copy this message."*
*duplicate eachMessage to mailbox 1 whose name is (item 1 of result) as text*
    *end repeat*
    *end tell*
*end perform mail action with messages*
    *end using terms from*
    Hope it can help.

  • Outlook 2011 Drafts Merging Together When Sent

We have kind of a crazy bug that is showing up in our environment specifically with Outlook 2011 users.  We use Exchange 2010 sp3.
Sometimes when our users save multiple saved drafts in Outlook for Mac, and then later on send one of those drafts, their client will merge two drafts together and end up sending Draft B, with all of the content of Draft B, but to the recipients specified in Draft A.  In this situation both drafts disappear completely , and as far as Exchange is concerned, only one email is submitted which is the strange merged version, which is then routed as you would normally expect it to be.
The other odd part of this bug is, when we later take a look at these merged messages, the headers look correct, as in the headers of Draft B show the originally intended recipients of that Draft B, and make no reference to the mistaken recipients that are 'borrowed' from Draft A.  We obviously can't do any analysis of Draft A in these situations as Draft A disappears completely.
So if I have two emails in my drafts folder:
    Draft 1:
    To: Todd
    Subject: Hey Todd
    Body: Hey Todd
    Draft 2:
    To: Andy
    Subject: Hey Andy
    Body: Hey Andy
When I send the first draft in this example, I will end up sending an email to Todd, but it will be an email with the subject line, body and headers of the other draft originally addressed to Andy.  The hybrid email will make its way into the "Sent Items", the other draft will disappear completely.
It's almost as if the client is combining these two drafts together and then submitting a merged copy to Exchange.
So far it has impacted around 14 people in our environment, all using Outlook for Mac and all using drafts.  Other common factors seem to include time and travel, as in these drafts would be created while on a plane, and then sent when landed, or created a few days prior to being sent, or created offline, and then sent later when online.
Microsoft is aware of this and working with us to try and figure out what is going on here, but as it stands we have been unable to repro this in any kind of controlled environment, and I was hoping that someone else may have come across a similar issue?
    Thanks!
    Andy

  • How can I import only the Sent Items file from Outlook 2010 into TB?

I have saved Sent Items as a distinct .pst file. Is there a method for importing it into TB? The Sent Items in Outlook were not included when I imported mail from the original Outlook.pst file.

well I have read the question and the answer and the response and seriously I have no idea what your talking about TwoLeftFeet.
    these instructions are fairly clear
    3. Copy the outlook.pst file to that PC and configure Outlook to use it. (may need to be in the default location)
    4. Compact the .pst file using Outlooks File -> Data File Management commands to permanently get rid of any deleted messages. Don't confuse this with compressing or zipping a file.
    5. Import the messages using Tools -> Import -> Mail. You can use Tools -> Import to also import the settings and address books.
Repeat steps 3-5 as necessary for any other .pst files.
You obviously do not need steps 1 and 2... as you say your files are on the same computer.
And you files are on the same computer so steps 6 - 9 would not apply.
