Over usage

Okay I broke you 6 hours per day thing witch I didn't know about. Okay it is fair but when dose it rest it self and it is after midnight so please reset my unlimited account please I am user name dr.fun.times so I can chat with my girlfriend mobile phone she don't have internet where she lives at all
By the way you should make it very clear about when you buy an unlimited account to make calls to an cell phone about the mins witch are 10.000 a month or 6 hours a day only this would cut down the problems I think.
Like I said I didn't know about your fair calling and I shouldn't be hanged for it it wasn't given the information about it until it was to late so please reset my unlimited account

If you go over 6 hours limit then you can't use subscription for calls until restriction will be removed 00:00 GMT (not your local timezone)
Note: Link to fair usage page is given on the subsciption page, during payment process, in terms and services and our FAQ's.

  • Charged for broadband over usage but still below l...

Hi guys,i hope someone here can help because i'm getting nowhere with bt helplines. At the end of january this year i changed from bt total broadband 1 to infinity. My old broadband limit was 10gb but i usually went over by 2 or 3 gb which i was obviously charged for, no problem there. With my new infinity package my allowance was increased to 20gb per month which was plenty enough for me.however, mybt usage monitor is still showing me to be on the old 10gb package.
Despite several live chat sessions and phone calls(the last one 2 weeks ago informing me i had 40gb usage) i'm still being charged for going over my 10gb allowance.i've even sent them,as requested , a screen shot of my usage monitor!! Why on earth would i have to do that? My latest bill arrived this morning with charges added for over usage.
Can someone please advise me of how to sort this problem out. To make things worse i'm now going to the dentist!
    Thanks in advance,

  • Waiver on over usage on bb option 1

i'm new to computers and broadband. didnt know there was a limit of 10GB on option 1 that i have, or i wouldnt of let my daughter watch all them movies, iplayer, youtube, etc. ended up with £50 cost on top of my bill. i only just managed to sort out an email address and register with my BT. it took me a long week to do this after the bill landed on my doormat. i'm running out of time on the bill and i cant afford the over use charge  at the  moment cos £50 lot of money to me the way things are. this has proper stressed me out as i just come out of hospital overcome a serious condiition on icu. i'm gonna put one of those warning things on so it will tell me if it goes over the 10Gb again.
anyway i read up on broadband usage and it says that if you go over on your first bill the overusage can be waivered, but how do i go about this. the operators cant speak english proper so they cant understand me or i them. so can someone from BT pleaase give me a phone number, not to indian operator or machine, or a link for the waiver please. thank you. please reply asap

chrisbamb said:"This is the passage under the "What if I go over my Allowance" Section:
If you do go over your monthly usage allowance then you may be subject to additional usage charges as outlined in our Broadband Usage Policy. In certain situations charges may not be applied. If it is the first month that the allowance is exceeded, we will waive the charge and send you an email confirming the amount of additional usage and notifying you that any further over-use in subsequent months will be charged. All charges will be added to your next bill.
Unfortunately though the charges will be returned on your next Bill not taken off this one. You will still need to pay this Bill and then receive a credit on your next Bill. I would also look at what mediums your daughter is using to "download" films. Is she using UTorent or Vuze or some other type of torenting or is she streaming?
As advised above, if your daughter is going to be using that much internet I would upgrade to the unlimited package otherwise expect lots of charges in the future as 10GB's goes nowhere when you are downloading or straming."
this has been very useful. i did do a search on this forum referring to waiver but to no avail so here i am.
i will pay the bill anyhow altho i will ask for a delay on paying it as to give me time to get my next pension. i just hope that the £50 will be credited to my next bill, otherwise if the charges go onto my next bill its hardly a waiver as such if i dont get the credit.  the bill i got is my first broadband bill but not my first phone bill. i didnt get an email because i only set up a email the last few days. i hope this isnt a necessary requirement to qualify for the waiver. but this is why i didnt know about the over usage.
my daughter has put movies on my pc disc, but she also watching youtube, channel 4, and bbc player altho i have stopped her from doing this untill i sort out what the 75Gb over usage is defined. i get answer to one question but then it opens new cans of worms as this is all new to me so i am learning the hard way as i go along.
    thank you

  • Over usage of my allowance by 67gb with no warning

i have just found out that i have a bill for £180.00 for over usage of my broadband. for the quarter it was 38gb one month then 67gb then 30gb over. because i hadnt checked my bank account to see this money coming out i had no idea. bt say they did warn me via an email that i was getting close but i had never received them. when i asked them where they were sending the email i hadnt heard of that address. i tried to log on to the address they gave me but it doesnt exist so how could they warn me. i have logged on to my account now with the email address that i chose when i set up the account so why were they not sending emails to that address. i am extremely unhappy with this service and will be taking it up with ofcom. i do not disagree with the overusage but if i had have been warned i could have upgraded my account the first time it happened and saved myself a fortune.
has this happened to anyone else and if so how did you resolve it.

    Hi.
I find this rather weird, and certainly sounds wrong.
May I suggest you click on my shortcuts, and use option 12b. If it requests a login with a Yahoo! ID - enter your full email address you initially chose. The resultant screen will do one of two things. (a). It will either allow you to add sub accounts towards the bottom of the page - this means the account is a primary, or (b) it will actually tell you the email address of the primary account.
If (a), then hopefully a forum mod can sort out this problem as you will clearly have been given incorrect details on initial setup.
If (b), then again a forum mod should be able to get to the bottom of why you were not informed of the primary email address and login details.
I am actually surprised that BT told you the email address the warning emails were being sent - I assume that you gave them your security details, in which case could mean option (b) above is relevant.
You will probably not be able to login to the "other" email address as either it's not yours (my scenario 'a') or it will be a different password to your other account.
There are ways to tell if an account is active, rather than inaccessible.
Go to [https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?] and enter the email address you were given by BT and a password - if it comes back with "This ID is not yet taken", then the account doesn't exist. If is says "Invalid ID or password", then that typically means a wrong password, but the email address exists.

  • FUP Charge but not over usage limit

    Hi,
I received an email today informing i have 'spent more than £10 on my account since my last bill' so i decided to check what the hell was going on as i have no idea what this could be.
So i look at my phone charges and they are worth £4.24, i thne checked my broadband usage monitor and its not over the 40gb limit, its under half way. However on my account it says there is a £20 FUP charge for 20gb!
How can there be a £20 charge this month when i havent gone over, i paid last months bill in full so can someone please tell me whats going on?
The last time a warning about usage was sent out it was on the 22/3/13 and informed me of a charge that was paid on a previous bill, so why is there a FUP charge now for 20gb shortly after i paid my bill when i have not gone over my usage limit since?

    NoX81 wrote:
Current usage is irrelevant? Then what is the point of it?
Im basing this off of billing cycle dates that i've paid for and what i've used since.
Ok my previous billing cycle runs from 19/2 to the 18/3 - i paid the bill for that period on the 19/3
My billing area says: usage since March 19th (the date i payed my last bill) £24.24 (£20 of it is a FUP charge)
Yet with thre FUP charge it says:
    All usage from 01 Mar 13 to 12 Apr 13: £20.000
I paid a bill that covered up to the 18/3 and since then have not gone over usage so why is there a charge for fair usage now?
I'll contact support but if anyone has a good reason for this i'd like to hear it.
the current usage is irrelevant for the current charge a usage is calendar months so from 1st April whereas the charge you have incurred will related to the last usage period which ended on 31 March
usage is calendar months but your billing period is as you have said totally different

  • Over usage with jetpack MiFi5510L

I have had this jetpack device for about a year now. I used to have a 4g broadband device that plugged into the usb port which quit working so verizon recommended the jetpack. At the time my date plan was 5GB allowance. Before I got this device I never would exceed the 5GB . When I got the jetpack I went over  the 5GB right away. So I went up to the 10GB plan. With out doing anything differently than before why would my data usage go up just by changing to this new device. Since I changed to the 10 GB plan, I have gone over twice. I am the only user, I live by myself. I have read in many of the verizon forums that this overage problem is happening to more people than just myself. Anyone out there have any answers to what might be going on.

Sounds like your computer is downloading (or uploading) something in the background that you may not be aware of. Software updates take quite a bit.

  • Internet over usage!

I have been with Bt for about 4 years now and have always had broad band option 1 which gives me a 10G allowance per month. I have never in the whole 4 years ever come close to exceeding this but today I received a bill for £100 of over use in the month of december! So I rang them up and apprently I had exceeded the 10G use in the first 6 days on December and then continued to over use my allowance by nearly 10 times!!
Thing is nothing has been different in december to any other month, its just me and my partner that each have a laptop each which gets used for about 1 hour each per night! We dont do online gaming, watch HD movies on it or do anything else that could have used that amount of G's! The home hub is always protected so nobody out side could of used it and BT refuse to to even discuss the possibilty that there infomormation is wrong and they want to increase my direct debit to £105 a month because of this! But they wont disscuss this even and told me after the first payment they could reduce it to £75 a month which is still nearly twice what I pay now!
There is no way I have used 110G in 1 month so is there anything I can do?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Can you pop over to the online usage meter (see my shortcuts options 14d & 14e - hopefully one will work) and see what your current usage is for January.
From your given information, it looks extremely unlikely that you have used that amount of data. You should (in December) have received a 7GB usage email - is there any chance you have had this ?
For information, there have been a large increase in users posting about higher than expected usage recently. I feel that something isn't quite right somewhere.
As Hamish mentioned, your best course of action is to contact a Moderater (click on their username to find the email address) and include your account number and a link to this thread. You can copy/paste a link by clicking against the "1" in "Message 1 of xx" in your original post.

  • Broadband over-usage - being charged for first mon...

    Hi there,
Last month I went over my broadband usage on option 2, but was informed at the time that I wouldn't be charged for this as you only get charged if you go over again. I've now upgraded to option 3 so this won't happen again. However, I received an email this morning saying that I will have to pay £40 for going over during that first month period.
The chap I spoke to on the phone said not to worry as I've already been told I won't be charged but I would really like confirmation that this is the case as I cannot afford to pay this money. As far as I'm concerned, that was first month usage and I shouldn't be charged.
    Many thanks, Adam.

Hi Adam. You are correct, you should not be charged the first month:
"If you exceed your usage allowance, you'll be charged for additional usage in units of five gigabytes (GB), at £5 per 5GB. Charges will apply from the second month you exceed your allowance and will be shown on your BT bill."

I even tried using an edl importing workflow (of course is not useful as direck link about nested compositons and reediting projects) nd the gpu was always at 50% at least without making or playing anything.

  • Utterly confused about over usage billing

So ive made the grave mistake of not checking my bt bill recently, easy to do i expect to pay x amount per month not a big deal but ive just found out that ive been charged an extra £50 per month every month since april for going over my 40gig limit !
while i could understand maybe going over that limit once or twice in an entire year by a few gig its seems something is wrong with this £50 charge per month
will be upgrading to unlimited asap just so this doesnt happen again, should also mention that the live chat thing have promised to refund £50 on the 28th of this month without an explantion of what that refund was for
can anyone help with this, i cant explain that amount of data downloaded per month it just doesnt make sense
    Thanks in advance

I'm not sure where to file a bug report, so I am posting this here for now. Has any one else noticed this? (See attached video)

I just tried copying and pasting the script from the "Basic Attributes" section of Configurator:

  • Usage updates!?!

as a relatively new BT customer im seriously shocked at how bad a service you provide! BT are obviously trying to get their customers to go over their usage limits by any means!! Why, when virtually every other company out there updates it in real time do BT customer have to guess their current usage?
its coming up to the end of the month and surprise surprise my usage hasnt been updated in almost 36hours!?!
last month i was stung with over usage charges. The final 2 days of the month i tried to log into BT to see where i was at only for the site to be under maintenance at the time so i couldnt check. I still dont know how much i actually used but sure the full overusage charge is there. I complained to BT about it only for you to say there were no faults registered so i must of made it up!?! but after some of the conversations ive had with BT CS i was just happy they spoke english. And here we are again. Coming to the end of the month and my usage is only correct upto 23:59 on the 25th yet its 8.20am 27th.
And while we are on the subject of broadband. Why sell me your all singing all dancing BT infinity package and then put a 40gb per month limit? That barely covers one persons usage in this modern world let alone a family.
Signing up to BT is by far one of the biggest mistakes Ive made this year!!!

ok i think imhave an issue with my broadband usage.
its currently saying ive used 36.4gb as of 23:59 25th November ...even though it said 34.9gb up to the same time and date 20mins ago. I received an email dated 22nd november stating that I had used 28gb (the 70% used first email warning). Theres no way ive used over 8gb inbetween that email dated 22nd november to the 25th november. Also, i havent received the 2nd email stating ive used 36gb (90%) like i should.
This happened the last time i went over my allowance and there was literally no way i could manage my usage for that period and the same thing s about to happen.
Is there a mod or BT employee on here who can help me out with these issues? I really dont have the time to spend a couple of hours trying to call you guys just for you to not understand what the issue is. Ive really spent more than enough time calling you guys in my short time as your customer.

  • Broadband usage metre

I got a bill for £30 of additional broadband usage which seemed execessive - I was expecting maybe 5 or 10 - but as my daughter uses her Ipad for youtube I wasn't too concerned.
Howver I recently took out another year contract and have been monitoring more closely in the trial period - and the Usage counter regularly shows me having consumed twice as much as my HH3 reports - and this is when my daughter isnt around.
Has anyone got any advice on how to counter BT claims over usage? I can't see anywhere to go back and get detail of the £30 bill and their unlimited package doesnt look at all attractive compared to other providers. I have about a week to back out of the contract so any suggestions welcome.

  • Charged over £150 for two months' of residential B...

I rent a flat in Leeds and provide the tenants with BT broadband. I have a Broadband only account; there is no phone at the property and no calls have ever been made.  During the past 2 months, BT has charged me over £150 for broadband usage.
    •              £73.60 (Broadband only) on 17 December 2012
    •              £78.60 (Broadband only) on 1 Feb 2013
However, according to the online billing, another £73.14 is due as of 4 February.
How can I face a £225 bill for the period 17 December to 4 February  for only broadband usage?   This equates to nearly £5 per day!
This, quite frankly, is an absoloute rip off....
    Andy.

I expect they have exceeded the download  amount that you signed up for, and you have been charged for over usage.

  • Upgrading due to usage

I've been with bt for just over a week after 13 years with unlimited usage with AOL.
I opted to take the option 1 package with 10GB allowannce and I now suspect  ( after looking at my usage after one week) thatI should have opted for the More broadband package (40GB).
I believe my first 6 months ( normally £13 per mth) on Option 1 are free , though I suspect I will get penalised for over usage
How soon into your contract  are you allowed to ask for an upgrade?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Follow up to my first  post.  I
bit the bullet and upgraded to Option 2 (40gb allowance). The upgrade was fairly quick and my account now says 30 gb remaining.
My monthly payment is now £32  (18 broadband and 14 line rental ).
I've obviously missed out on my opening offer of 6 months free .
I believe that if I had opted for Option 2 in the first place, I would have had it half price for three months or something like that (online offer).
I may have got a bit of sympathy if I'd phoned the sales team to upgrade but to be hoinest I just wanted to upgrade quickly without going through a time consuming phone call.
Thanks for the advice everybody .
