P2 footage exporting with grey blocks

Hi,
I'm having sudden issues with exporting P2 footage out of Final Cut Pro 7. A weekend ago this was not the case and I exported in a bunch of different formats with no problems from the exact same p2 footage as I am having issues with now.
Today, no matter what settings I use I get 7 grey blocks on my footage (three on each side and one in the center). This doesn't happen in my timeline, or in the preview window. The blocks showed up in the preview window in the log and transfer window, but not on the transcoded quicktime files when I open them in either QTx or in QT7. (Also, before all my upgrading to the new Final Cut and QT7 pro I downloaded something to let me view DVCPro HD video files and since it was just a trial version there were these exact same grey blocks.)
I'm thinking this is probably a codec issue, but as I mentioned it worked fine a few days ago. Could it just mean that I need to re-install something? Anyone had this happen to them before?
I just want to get a fairly small sized .mov file that I can send for review.
Thanks!

Is there a way to check which P2 format from the P2 folders themselves? The cameraman is unavailable to check the files on his camera, so I don't know if the blocks are showing up on the camera though I suppose not. As I said these same files worked perfectly with no problems exporting in any format not five days ago.
The problem is that the blocks show up whenever I try to export the edited P2 video, in anything other than the native format, I get gray blocks burned in my video clip.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

  • 1080p footage exporting with bad resolution

I have 1080p footage that i imported into final cut pro, i am done editing but when i export it, it has very bad quality and it is a lot smaller in the screen, my guess is that i imported the footage with the wrong settings. Would you know if I can change the settings in my current project? I would really hate to start everything from scratch. Thanks!

Try this, copy a clip and paste it into a new sequence. You sould get a warning asking if you want to change the sequence to match the clip, Say yes. If you don't get that warning, stop an make sure the sequence is actually set to match the clip.
when you paste it in, the clip should look small in the Canvas. Select the clip and right-click on it to see the Remove Attributes options and remove scale and distortion. The clip shoudl be normal now.
Delete the clip, go back to your problem sequence, select all, copy. Go to the new empty sequences, paste. Select all, remove attributes.

  • Grey screen with a 'blocked' symbol and spinning wheel

I came home to my 2 week old Macbook air after my brother had been using it to find a grey screen with a 'block' simbol (i.e. road block symbol with circle and line diagonaly through it) where the apple logo usually is and a spinning wheel. I held the power button for a few second and it turned off, then restarted it aparently fine. What did this screen mean? Did i disrupt anything i should not have by shutting it down?

  • Working with footage exported from After Effects

    Hello!
I'm using after effects because i'm more familiar with it and i don't want to relearn a visual effects software right now, so hopefully some of you might be familiar with it.
I compiled my video using a NTSC DV Widescreen composition. I exported out of the render queue. When i play from the finder the video is in the widescreen format i exported with.
However when i import to Final Cut Express, instead of automatically adjusting to the format of the clip (which is a .mov) it gives me the red render bar. Additionally, it squashes the widescreen into standard format, which remains when exported.
I need to keep this video in the widescreen format. Does anyone have any idea on how i could do this? Thanks!

    According to Final Cut,
The clips are: Frame Rate- 29.97
    frame size- 720x480
    compressor - animation
    data rate - 20 mb/s
    field dominance - lower (even)
    Pixel Aspect - NTSC - CCIR 601
The sequence im trying to edit them in (the default fcp gave me when opened)
Everything is the same accept the compressor is DV/DVCPRO - NTSC

  • Footage pixelated when exported with compressor

I've film HD video and edited with FCP, the aspec ratio on the sequence is 720x480 anamorphic, and it looks great, when I export it with QuicK Time it looks great but DVD Studio Prp doesn't support the settings. when I export it with Compressor, DVD Studio Pro imports it fine, but it is very, very pixelated.
What would be the best option to use when exporting with Compressor.
What I want is that the WideScreen image shrinks when viewing it on a Standard TV, I've done it with iDVD but when watching it on a standard tv is cuts the two sides of the image.
    Thank you for your help.

If editing HD material you would be best off editing in the HD timeline, size and Codec (not sure if you did that and then down rezzed?) SD DVDs used compressed video, so anything that compresses things more prior to the compression to an SD m2v (video used on DVDs) can lead to more of a quality hit.
Anyway what you would do is export the movie as self-contained movie, reference movie or directly to Compressor to a 16:9 m2v preset (including one you made yourself) and use that in DVD SP

  • HELP! What are the settings to export with the highest quality (I will show my project in a cinema.)

    Hello,
I have a project I will be showing at a local cinema, and I need to have the best possible quality for that......
My source footage is SD, so I am exporting it as a MPEG2-DVD project, the first time I exported (with the default MPEG2-DVD settings) and burned it, it looked good (at least on my 34" TV) but I am not sure if that quality will be as good when projected on a cinema screen...
So, what I need to know is, which of the MPEG2-DVD export settings I must change in order to get the quality I am looking for.....
BTW I am using Adobe Premiere CS4 and the whole Creative Suite 4....
    Thanks in advance
    Al

If it looks good on your tv it will look good at the cinema.
The resolution will still be 720x480/576 if a dvd player is hooked up to the projector.

  • Documents saved with grey heading won't open

documents saved with grey heading won't open

You haven't stated what version of Pages that you are using.
The file chooser, the dialog when you first launch Pages, will show you two categories of files: those that Pages can open, are normal appearing icons with black text, and those that it can't open, appear as faded grey.
For instance, if you exported a Pages ’09 document as foo.rtf, it would later appear normal in the Pages ’09 file chooser as a document you could reopen. But, in Pages v5, that foo.rtf document icon will appear grey in the file chooser, because Pages v5 cannot open RTF documents. In either application, icons for PDF, images, and other documents that are incompatible with Pages — remain inaccessible grey icons in the file chooser.

  • Strong red tint when exporting with prores

    Hello There,
I'm using 5D Footage that i converted to AppleProRes (HQ) with the compressor and edited it in FCP plus did some grading in Color. Everything looks fine when I export with H.264.
However, I need to export the material with ProRes again because it will be used in Adobe After Effects, so i want to keep a high qualitiy. Now, when i'm exporting from FCP with the prores422(HQ) codec all the midtones have an extremely red tint and the contrast and the saturation is much higher than how i see it in Colors and FCP. Is this some kind of error or is there something i'm doing wrong here?
    THX for ur help!

Prores LT is more than good enough for your 5D footage. You will not get any more quality than is already there by going to ProRes HQ. You will get considerably larger files that might not play back smoothly on your computer.
Humor us and tell us what happens when you run this workflow on a short ProRes LT clip.

  • Print Adobe Captivate 8 project - error or grey block

    Hi,
Im attempting to "print" a project only to return a failed message.  When I am successful the Word doc returns grey blocks rather than content.  Any help appreciated
Failing all that, is there a widget or other aid as a work around.
    - Nic

    Hi there,
From the shared screen, I can see that the 'Slide notes' option is selected for print. Is it printing the slide notes correctly when the print works? The grey box is nothing but the slide, if you select 'Include Objects and question slide options' you can see that the slide getting exported as an image as part of the print.
    Thanks,
    Nimmy Sukumaran.

  • Audio not exporting with video

    Hello-
I am having trouble exporting a H.264 video using the YouTube HD 24 preset, which I have done dozens of times previously. The footage was captured on a DSLR with external sound and synced via plural eyes.
The problem is that the audio, which I can hear in the time line, is not exporting with the video. So far I have tried deleting all project and associated files and starting from scratch but to no avail. Does anyone know why this is happening or what I need to do to troubleshoot/fix?
    Many thanks...

Thanks for the reply. I was checking them by playing the export on my iMac. I just imported the video back into PP and there is no audio when played in the system either.

  • Imovie9 will not export with sound! Help!

    Hi,
I have been using imovie to edit a movie for the last couple of months and have been exporting it with no problems. Yesterday, I exported a new edit and for some reason, half way through the movie the sound cuts out. On the other edit I exported the sound is distorted and sounds as though a computer is struggling. The only reason I can think of for this is that I have imported new footage to work with. However, I have shot with the same camera, same sound settings etc. so i don't understand why it is affecting it.
I have tried a few things, like doing an imovie update. Mucking around with the sound settings when exporting and exporting again (3 times) to different places (externals). To no avail. Can someone please help!??!?!

    Hi Rev Dave
Q: What is the best way to get a copy of this with sound on DVD? Why won't it export with sound? How do I get it in iDVD 6.03?

  • Is the rendering essential before export with AME?

    Hello guys!
My sequence has red and yellow lines. This means I have to render it for preview. I don't want to render it because I 'm sure for the preview result (I did the same with other projects)
It needs to be rendered before the export with AME or not?
I'm not sure, but once I forgot to render warp stabilization effect and the blue line appeared on my footage...

    Hi Yiotal,
You should not have to render before exporting a project either through the integrated or stand-alone version of AME.  If you got a blue line in your footage, it must have been a bug in PP/AME.  I've had errors exporting projects when using linked AE projects, so outputting bugs do exist.
Rendering is meant for smooth playback while editing (especially clips with a red bar.  Any decent system will do fine with the yellow bars).  Even if you do render everything before exporting, never use those render files in your output (i.e. make sure the 'Use Previews' box is UNchecked).  I've done some tests and the image quality you get when using render files is inferior.
    Hope this helps!

  • Transitions glitches on export with GPU activated

First of all, I'm fairly new to PP as I just switched from the FCP suite in the recent wind of change.
In PP CS5.5.1 I experience glitches on some of my film dissolves when I export with the Mercury Playback Engine GPU activated.
The source footage is AVHCD 1080 in a 720p timeline as I need the reframing possibilties and I export to H.264 720p.
If I export the same sequence many times, the glitches does not happen systematically on the same transitions all the time. If I turn the GPU acceleration off, it seems to resolve the issue but if it is an accepted practice in the PP community or if I encounter a bug due to my setup.
Any of you guys experienced this or know if there is a fix for that? I searched the forums but could not find an answer apart from "turning MPE off should resolve the issue".
    Here's my set up:
    PP 5.5.1 on OSX 10.7
    GTX460
    i7 2600
    16GB RAM

I do have  a hacked GPU  and it could be a factor but I don't think so since everything is performing flawlessly and enjoying the GPU Boost!  I read on the forum that there's some incompatibility between GPU accelerated MPE and the new 32 bits linear color processing: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3939400#3939400 but it involves more cross-fades transparency to 0.
So I'm still wondering if anybody else is experiencing these type of glitches...?!

  • Premiere not exporting with correct settings.

So I make videos for youtube and up untill yesturday I used the youtube 720p preset changed to 30fps to match my footage and everything else left standard. Normally videos around 17minutes come out at 700-800mb
However for some reason when i export with these same settings, estimated video still in the 700-800 range. What adobe is actually exporting is a 57mb file, I did this multiple times and recieved the same result and even upped the bit rate from 5mbs to 17.5mbs  which changed the estimated size to 2.3gb and once exported i received yet another 57mb file.
the final video is extremely low quality similar to that of the original camera phones, my original footage is hd.
The only way around it i found was to use the check box export with sequence settings.

Hopefully this works below are 2 screen shots to get the full video settings shown.
