Paper Free Billing

Hi, I want to view my bill's online but if forces me to use paper free billing as well, although it's a good feature I have a few questions, with paper free billing does it automattically pay like the paper version? and can i also do mail billing as well as paper free?

Paying by Direct Debit works the same whether you are paper-free or not. As far as I know you can continue to receive paper bills as well as view them in MyBT, unless you have signed up for a service (eg Line Rental Saver) which commits you to paper-free only. It's possible to amend your billing method under "Manage your profile" in MyBT if you're not committed to paper-free.

  • Line Saver Rental v. Paper Free Billing

    Hi
I'm trying to weigh up the benefits / pitfalls of going for the 'Line Saver Rental' deal and paying £120 up front which would result in a monthly equivalent of £10.
However, I currently have 'Paper Free' billing which gives me a discount of £3.75 / month.
I note that if I opt for 'LSR' it will result in the removal of the 'PF' discount.  That would mean an effective monthly line rental of £13.90 less £3.75 = £10.15.
I appreciate that the line rental is being increased from £13.90 to £14.60 from 3/12/11, but based on current prices, is it really worth paying £120 up front for a yearly saving of £1.80??
Assuming that the 'PF' discount is not increased on 3/12, the saving would still only amount to some £10.20 over the year (new monthly rental of £14.60)!
    Thoughts anyone?

I opted to sat with the PF biling discount as I think it is better valie and because that £120 can earn some interest for me rather than being passed to BT - and who knows how long the annual offer will last?
However I feel duty bound to point out at the monthly PF discount is £1.25 and only comes to £3.75 on the quarterly bill.
So after December the 3rd the discounted monhly price is actually £13.35
So it is saving of £3.35 a month or £40 a year.

  • Email - Your account is moving to paper free-billi...

Hi, I'm a new forum user so apologies if this subject has been asked before, I've looked and couldn't find anything.
I have received an email this morning from BT headed Your account is moving to paper free billing and reads as follows:
We have an ongoing commitment to save paper, which is why we will soon stop sending paper bills to customers who have online billing.
Within the next few weeks we'll send you an email to let you know we've moved your account to paper-free billing. This means we'll stop sending your paper bill, but you'll still be able to view and download your bill whenever you want online in My BT.*
Learn more about paper-free billing. (link)
We hope you'll enjoy the benefits of paper-free billing from BT.
    Regards,
    Warren Buckley
*If you want to keep your paper bill, please let us know. The change to paper-free billing only affects one account, if you have multiple accounts please log into My BT to check the billing methods. If you change your account details in the next two weeks, you might not be moved to paper-free billing. Paper-free T&C's
Being very wary of email scams I've contacted the online assistant (India call centre by the operator name).  They have given me the answer that if I'm on paper and on-line billing this will continue, I will not be changed to paper-free billing only.
Now I'm even more wary of the email, although it does look genuine.  Could any forum member or moderator please confirm that the email is genuine as I wish to continue to receive a paper bill for other members of the household who have no interest in using the computer.
I look forward to your assistance.  With many thanks.

    Dear Mr. Buckley,
    Paper-free Billing
Currently I receive paper telephone bills, and also an email telling me that my bill may be viewed on-line. In your email of today (print-out enclosed) you tell me that my account “is moving to paper-free billing” and that you are going to stop sending paper bills. You do not ask if I no longer want to receive paper bills.
In my view this is about cost-saving and enhanced profit for BT but not for the customer. BT stand to save large printing and mailing costs by not sending paper bills, but you (a) make no offer to pass any of this saving on to the customer, (b) you appear take no account of the fact that it costs a customer to have a computer and an internet connection which they will need to see their bills on-line. Further, (c) the customer must remember their password to gain access to their on-line account to see the bill, and (d) if there is a problem with the customer’s internet connection they will not be able to see their bill. For example, after ongoing problems with my phone line and internet connection earlier this year, my phone line was dead or not working from 02 to 23/02/2012.
Unless and until BT pass on a significant part of the cost-saving and provide electronic bills in a form which doesn’t cost me to view it and ensure that it’s availability and reliability is the same or better than a paper bill, then I want to continue to receive paper bills.
    Yours sincerely,

  • Line Saver Rental and Paper-free billing discount

The Line rental saver conditions state that that, if you sign up, the discount for paper-free billing will stop.
Can you tell me if the paper-free billing discount will be reinstated if I revert to monthly line rental when the line saver contract period ends ?
    Thanks

    Hi Mw9,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting. If you re-sign for the Line Rental Saver option after the initial 12 months you'll be saving even more. If you want to discuss specific details of your account drop me an email to [email protected] and I'll be happy to help.
    Cheers

  • Line saver loss of paper free discount

Am happy to get a discount on my line rental by paying up front but cannot understand why I have to loose the paperfree billing discount. I will still be getting a bill for calls so are BT now going to post this out to me? Seems rather senseless

I too took up this line saver offer. And had selected paper free billing. Mainly because the posties round these parts can't read and put my mail in other peoples letterboxes. With similar addresses.
I suspect you will continue to be paper free.
I also suspect this (removal of unconnected discount) is a ruse by BT to reduce the actual  discount so they can continue to advertise a discount of Y when it is really X. X being less than Y of course.
By the way I noticed (eventually) that my last phone bill was not collected by direct debit and was told by BT this was because the upfront line saver payment exceeded my phone bill.
This caused me a problem trying to reconcile my bank balance with some financial software on my PC.
    Weird or what?
    Hope this is constructive.

  • BT are withdrawing paper-free discount

As well as the price increases BT are are withdrawing the paper-free discount.
    "Changing our prices
We are withdrawing the paper-free discount from 3 December 2011. Anyone who was on our paper-free discount could benefit from our Line Rental Saver payment option for line rental that reduces line rental from £14.60 per month to £10 per month. This payment option is available only on e-billing and you can find out more here."

Paper free discount was withdrawn in september, however i think exisiting customers who had the discount will keep this unless they move back to paper then they lose it and will not have the option of getting this back if they decide to switch back to paper free.

  • Paper billing

I am planning to upgrade from Bt Broadband, to Bt Infinity however only paper free billing is available, i did some research and found that by calling 0800 800 150 I can ask for paper billing.
Can someone guarantee that after I upgrade to Infinity(+ new 18 month contract) with its paper free billing, i will be able to call that number and switch back to paper billing? Or will they say something like "Sorry when you signed the contract it was only for Paper free bills, you cannot switch to paper bills again."
Sorry if this is a silly question, but due to my circumstances Paper Bills are my ONLY option and I just want to make sure.
    Thank you in advance!

You can have paper bills, but they are being charged for now if you have broadband and will cost you £1.50 a month.
I used to get a discount for having only paper free billing (about £3.50pm iirc), then they did away with that discount.
So rather than me spending my money on printing out my bill, I then requested a paper bill (with my paper free bill) and currently have both.
Now they're going to charge for a computer to stick 2/3/4 pieces of paper in an automated envelope sealer and have it sent by royal mail - be interesting to find out the actual true cost for this process per customer per month. Can't see it being anywhere near the £1.50 they plan on charging, but I could be wrong......

  • Overpriced bill

    Good Afternoon.
Firstly I am very unhappy to have been charged a very high penalty amount over the last few months for not using the 'free' evening and weekend calls or 1571 as myself and my housemates have been away from the house over the summer. Being university students I feel it is unfair to be penalised for not making use of a feature which was marketed as a free add-on while we are not at the house. I would appreciate a refund please.
Secondly I am struggling to understand our latest bill. For the last year we have been charged £11.54:
    Unlimited Evening and Weekend PlanW5 Aug-4 Sep 10 £ 12.79
    This is made up of:
PUnlimited Evening and Weekend Plan £ 15.78
This is the cost of your calling plan (which includes line rental) at
    £15.78 a month, charged in advance from 5 Aug 2010 to 4 Sep 2010
Including UK landline and 0845 / 0870 numbers within plan*
    PCredit: Unlimited Evening and Weekend - £ 2.99 W5 Aug-4 Sep 10
    Plan Deal
You get your calling plan at a special rate .We show this on your bill by
giving you a credit of £2.99 a month
Discount for Evening and Weekend calls with 12 month renewing contract
Total line rental and other basic charges = £ 12.79
minus paper free discount -£1.25 = £11.54 (not including penalties of around £3.50 mentioned above)
This month, however we have been charged £15.10:
    KPhone line
    Unlimited Evening and Weekend PlanW1 Oct-4 Oct 10 £ 0.07
Because there was a price change we need to reflect this in the
    following bill information:
    PtUnlimited Evening and Weekend - £ 2.10 W1 Oct-4 Oct 10
    Plan
This is a refund of the price of your calling plan (which includes line
rental) at £15.78 per month which you paid in advance up to 4 Oct 2010
    PUnlimited Evening and Weekend Plan £ 2.17 W1 Oct-4 Oct 10
This is the cost of your calling plan (which includes line rental) up to 4
    Oct 2010 at £16.28 a month
    Unlimited Evening and Weekend PlanW5 Oct-4 Nov 10 £ 16.28
This is the cost of your calling plan (which includes line rental) at
    £16.28 a month, charged in advance from 5 Oct 2010 to 4 Nov 2010
Including UK landline and 0845 / 0870 numbers within plan*
Total line rental and other basic charges = £ 16.35
    What you used
    KPhone usage £ 0.00
All your calls were free or included in your plan
    = £ 0.00
    Credits and discounts
    Paper-free billing discountW6 Oct 10 - £ 1.25
    Discount for paper-free billing
    Total credits and discounts = - £ 1.25
    TOTAL including VAT = £ 15.10
It seems that alongside the sneaky price increase, we are now being charged for the evening and weekend add-on even though we received an email saying it would continue for no cost. All we had to do was not reply to the letter.
Seeing as we signed up for the contract for £11.25 per month, I feel very unhappy that we are now paying nearly £4 more.
Thanks in advance for your help,

  • Paperfree Billing

hi, I have just spoke to BT as my new bill has no discount for paperfree billing and Bt customer service have just informed me that online paperfree billing discount is no longer available,Was anyone else aware of this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This document:
    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumer/consumerProducts/pdf/UKInternationalprices.pdf
says the following about the discount:
    Paper-free Billing Discount
This discount is no longer available from 1st September 2010.
If you previously agreed that we should not send you a paper
bill, you will continue to receive a discount of £1.25 (inc VAT)
on your account for every month in which you spend at least
£13.60 (inc VAT) on rental charges, provided that you pay your
bills by direct debit or monthly payment plan. The discount is
applied on a per account basis to customers on Calling Plans.
This discount will be removed if you:
    • View your account on-line but opt to receive a paper copy as
    well; or
    • change back to receiving paper bills at any point.
The discount cannot then be reinstated if you later decide that
we should not send you a paper bill.

  • Where can i see my bills?

i keep recieving bills from my bank concerning transaction i maid on itunes but can't relate to any recent purshase. I want to know how i can have access to all the purshase i made recently.
    thank you

I didn't get the endless annoying emails when I re-contracted this year, but I did last year.  I have no idea what triggers it.
And, yes, if you make the mistake of following the instructions, it will switch you to paper-free billing whether you want it or not.  And it won't warn you before doing that.

  • Billing call data for previous months

I have always been on paperless billing to save money. As Kerry said in a previous post to encourage paperless billing:
    "Get organised
Signing up to paper-free billing with My BT can save you time – and it makes finding your latest bill much easier than searching through endless cabinets and drawers for that elusive bit of paper.  Copies of your bills are stored online for 15 months, so they're always there to view, download and print when you need them. One secure online log-in gets you instant access to your bill.:"
I now find that you can only look at call data for the latest months bill. It is no good having paperless billing if you have to use loads of your own paper to print out all the data.

    Patty-L wrote:
@    john46  You could of course store the data on your computer in pdf format each month I do  and can go back years.
Thank you John for the information it has worked (I can now save on paper usage)

  • Bill and chat line.

I signed up for paper free bills. I have still received a paper bill plus a £1.50 charge. Tried to chat with India. Kept me holding on for 45 minutes then said no agents available. I have no idea how to complain as the Indian call center do not understand the problem and half the time I cannot understand them. Any ideas how I can complain and get someone who understand basic english.

  • Line Saver Rental and Paperless Bill Saving

    Hi
It says on the Line rental saver that if you sign up you lose your saving for your paper free billing discount.  This ultimately reduces any saving/benefit by £15 per year.
Can you tell me once the line rental saver contract period ends is the paper free billing discount reinstated.
    C

Currently i have the unlimited anytime plan, which is NOT subject to an auto renewing contract, i currently pay cash quaterly , what i want to know is: if i decided to get line rental saver from £113  would this change anything with my calling plan such as start a new contract term ? btw i am aware that i would need to sign up for paperless billing and pay for call & calling play by direct debit quarterly or monthly
