Password issues with WLC 2504

I have a customer that has the following issues:
a.            The password I set (for the monthly change both in October and January) stopped working, cause unknown. And then, when I tried to login,
b.            The credentials to login to the Wireless Console were not working, we had to use the alternate credentials (originally setup by the installer), re-create the credentials, and set the password again (which stayed working just fine).
Please let me know if anyone else has had this type of issue.

Never had that issue.... I guess this might be a stupid question, but when the new credentials were entered, was the configurations saved?  IS there any type of audits that might be making some change on the WLC?
Thanks,
Scott

    Hello,
i am a new member trying to get help for recent password issues with my playbook

Is this about exactly the same issue as you just posted about in this thread?
If so, please click on "Accept as Solution" next to my answer, and we can keep the discussion in that other thread (where you've posted more detail than you did here).

  • DHCP Error with WLC 2504 and Aironet 2600 setup across subnets

    Hey guys
I have just setup a new WLC 2504 controller to manage a WiFi service that will span 6 geographic locations.  The local networks at each location are on different subnets (all 192.168.x.x) and are linked up via IPSEC VPN links, and there is Active Directory spanning the sites, with DNS and DHCP servers running at each location.
I tested the WLC at our main office with a single AP, and it worked fine.  The AP set itself up, and wireless devices connect with no probs. Great!  Yesterday I headed out to one of our remote sites, and connected an AP to their network - and that seemed to work fine too.  Within a few minutes I was able to see the WiFi network I'd setup, and my smartphone connected to it straight away (as I'd rpeviously connected at the main office), so I was pretty happy that all was working well.
This morning however I've had notification that wifi performance at the remote site isn't great.  I've got someone to check their ip address, and I've found that their IP address and default gateway match the LAN at the main office where the WLC is based - NOT the LAN where the wireless client is.  Obvioulsy this is not ideal!
So I guess my question is, what have I done wrong?  (I guess I HAVE done something wrong!?).  And how can I get wireless clients at remote sites to pick up an IP from the DHCP server at THEIR site?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hello Tim,
What mode your APs are in? Local mode? or FlexConnect mode?
If local mode, then all the traffic will be tunnelled to the WLC and they'll be same as if you are connecting from the WLC location.
If you use FlexConnect APs (which is recommended for remote sites) you can configure FlexConnect groups on the WLC and add each location in a specific group. In that group you can decide what VLAN the users should be in.
Check this link for FlexConnect group configuration

  • Guest wireless with WLC 2504, Catalyst 4510R+E and ASA 5510

I need to add guest (internet only) wireless to our existing internal wireless and am looking for advice as to the best practice configuration. Existing infrastructure as follows:
    WLC 2504
    1142 LAPs
    4510R+E
    ASA 5510
    Existing configuration as follows:
WLC management interface and APs addressed on the 192.168.126.0 /25 network
Internal WLAN mapped to the management interface
Management interface VLAN ID 0 (untagged) and dynamic AP management enabled
WLC port 1 (only) connected to 4510 via trunk with native VLAN set to 7 and allowed VLAN set to 7
4510 connected to ASA inside interface (security level 100)
Switchport on 4510 connected to ASA configured as switchport access VLAN 99 (our internet VLAN)
ASA inside interface NOT configured for subinterfaces and is addressed on the 192.168.121.0 /25 network
What is the best way to add guest wireless to our existing configuration?
Note: I need the guest wireless to be filtered by Websense as our internal wireless is
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank for the reply Scott. The configuration recommendations from Yahya did not work. I set up as he recommended and also added a dhcp scope on the wlc. Client gets dhcp but cannot even ping the wlc much less anything else. Yahya stated above to configure port 2 on the wlc to an access port on my 4510. Aren't all connections from the wlc supposed to be trunk links to the switch? Shouldn't I just leave the management interface on the wlc untagged and add a dynamic interface for each wlan and tag it with the approriate vlan id? And then leave the (one) physical connection on the wlc (port 1) connected to a trunk link on the 4510 that allows the required vlans?
Any input would be greatly appreciated...

  • Password issue with ESW 520 switches

I was wondering if anyone else has run into or noticed an issue with passwords using these switches.  I've set up 5 or 6 in the past couple of months and have confirmed it is an issue with both the 2.0.3 firmware and the latest 2.1.16 firmware.
The issue is that you cannot use an & in a password.  That is to say, you can use it when setting your new credentials for the switch but once set, you cannot login using this password any longer.  I've tested these passwords over and over, making sure I didn't slip off the shift key by removing caps or substituting a 7 instead of the & symbol.  I have NOT tried any other special characters but I can confirm that numbers work just fine.

    Sounds like a bug Chris.

  • An issue with WLC 5508 and 7921 phone

    Hello all!
I have a system with WLC 5508 and some 1242 APs. And I use a lot of 7921 phones.
One of 7921 phones was in trouble. It loses registration, disconnect conversations...
I installed the trial WLC and run voice diagnostics.
I  saw some of "Potentially degraded QoS in downlink direction because of  incorrect packet classification" messages and one "Fair upstream packet  loss ratio: 1,2%, which is less than threshold 2.5%"
As I understand all of 7921 phones in these area are affected.
what  does it mean? I set up Platinum QoS for voice WLAN. I don't have any qos  configuration string for AP and WLC ports on switches...
    any ideas?
    thanx in advance

    Sergey:
There is one application called "WLC Config analyzer". You save your "show run-config" from your WLC in a text file and import it by this application. it will analyze the file for you and tell you what recommendations for voice are missing so you improve them.
When importing a config file you choose what voice clinets you are using, so you need to choose cisco 7921 to it tells you what config improvemetns is needed based on 7921 needs.
Here is the link to download the application:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-1373
    download the latest versoin.
BTW, how many voice/data clients are connected to one AP in that area? if I remember correctly if you are utilizing voice then the max number of clients connected to one AP should not exceed 17. If you have more than this number per AP try to minimize the number of users concurrently connected to the AP then try again.
Hope you'll find the config analyzer useful.
If useful please don't forget to rate.

  • Pop Account Password issues with Snow Leopard

Since upgrading to Snow Loeopard my mail account will not accept my password, every time I connect with Mail it comes up with an error message stating that the pop server hasn't accepted my password - Help

Same with me, the entire Modifier Keys settings pane for the Apple Keyboard does nothing, not just the Caps Lock setting. It works fine for the built-in MacBook Pro keyboard, but not for the external USB Apple keyboard. This worked perfectly fine on Leopard, but after upgrading to Snow Leopard it doesn't. How'd they break this??!

  • Issues with WLC 7.0.116 and iPhone/iPads iOS devices

We are using a WLC 2106 running 7.0.116 and notice that when iPhones are streaming data (e.g. YouTube) during WPA re-auths we get the following log entry:
Max EAPOL-key M3 retransmissions exceeded for client xxxxx
And the iPhone prompts for the username/password  for EAP-PEAP.
This occurs on two different lab setups, one local auth, one MS IAS. Changing EAPOL timeout settings does not fix the problem.
Note that we rolled back to WLC 6.x software and the problem appears fixed. Is this a known issue in 7.0.116 that others have seen?
    thanks,
    Simon

Its speculation at this point stating its tied to CPU processing. If you obtain a capture of both low CPU and high CPU you could then state its CPU bound.
Specific to the session timeout, Increasing or disabling it makes sense. The only purpose of the session timeout is to regen the MSK keys which then seed the PMK,GMK. Cisco recommends to disable session timeout on voice because of its known problems with voice reliability.
In addition, client idle timeout impacts Apple "i" deivces more than any other divice. Do a lab and capture the traffic coming out of a iPad for exmaple. These devices dont chatter on the network like other devices.
Its not uncommon for iPads to drop off the network with default settngs on the WLC (but this doesnt explain your 7 vs 6 code). In fact we lab this where iPads client records get deleted after 300 seconds (default timer) and have to reauth becuase of this very issue. An adjustment of the timers aided this situation.
Call TAC see what they tell you ... I suspect they will review these same items and the EAP timeout, that you mentioned already.
I just checked and we have 768 ipads on our network at this very moment  including mine.
I just moved my auth time to 5 minutes and I am pulling youtube and watched 3 auths and there is no problems.
You need to do a L2 capture and see what the iPad is doing. If the ipad sends its EAP creds and the WLC doesnt respond then you know its the WLC.

    Thank You

Auth succeeded from AAA server side but there is a problem with 4-way handshake. It is obvious the problem is with the client because it does not reply the message 2 of the handshake.
    What is this client?
Try upgrading the driver or the firmware. That sort it out.

  • Password Issues with Charter Mail Account

    Hi,
I am setting up my new iPad Wi-Fi 4G with my email accounts for Charter. With this I have run into the following issue:
-email accounts with only alpha or only numeric passwords work fine.
-email accounts with a alpha/numeric passwords will not work. A user name or password incorrect error is received.
All email accounts are valid and passwords validated. The support people at Charter have also confirmed this. Additionally, I have tried cutting and pasting account information in to make sure no typing errors occurred.
The support people at apple have had me reset the iPad and then totally reloaded the software, of which neither resolved the issue.
At this point an Apple senior advisor was contacted and I was told to contact Charter and see if they could change my passwords to all alpha or all numeric characters. This was the only action apple support could give. This however cannot be done due to new password guidelines at Charter.
Has anyone else found this issue and resolved it?
    Regards,
    SSS

I am not experiencing this problem on iPad2 .. my charter password has alpha & numeric characters in it.  HOWEVER, I did find that the charter username for HBOGo was my charter email & email password and NOT the user name & password I set up when I was setting up HBOGo the first time.  Maybe something like this is the problem, and not the password structure.

  • 7925 Phones voice quality issues with wlc 5508 version 7.6

    Hi all,
I have a mix environment with 1 WLC 5508  and more or less 6 sites with several Access Points ( all AIR-LAP1242AG and all in FlexConnect mode  Hreap ) and several wireless phones (all  CP7925G) . My Ap's have antennas 2.4GHz in all sites except 1 site ( the one i'm talking for now) with 2.4GHz and 5GHz , because of the problems we suggest to have all phone in A BAND (5Ghz) . In this site we force the phones just to A (802.11a only) , power safe NONE , Continuous scan mode , i fallow all in http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7925g/7_0/english/deployment/guide/7925dply.pdf , one thing i didn’t do it was apply QoS because I can’t apply several ios commands in that 2960 with lan lite ios.
So I have 3 SSID for data and 2 for VOICE  ( one is common to all environment and supports 2.4 and 5Ghz , and other just to test one site , with only 5Ghz  with “[WPA2][Auth(802.1X + CCKM)][Auth(FT 802.1X)]”, because I read that problem can be phone rooming , and in FlexConnect only have fast-roaming in a CCKM or a PKM  key-management solution , but even like this the problem still exist) .
I have another sites with phones in 2.4GHz running well and others with problems.
i read here in forums lots and lots of people with similar problems , i tried several solutions ( WLC  upgrades versions  and phones firmware's , ….  ) tried all my best of solving the problems mas now I’m running without any ideas , i did also some site surveys and detect some interferers that why I change phones to 5Ghz , and I run also WLC Config analyser to help me , but all without good success. Some changes solve temporarily problems , but after some time , people reclaim about problems.
I can open a TAC case but first I want be sure if did all already.
Can someone try to help me?

    Hi Serge,
Thanks for the suggestions. I have taken care of all the settings. Problem is , the user is seated in his office cabin and using the 7925 and there is around 50db signal strength in his room from an AP which is just outside the cabin. And this doesnt occur often, when we go to check and make calls, everything is fine whereas the user says it happens sometimes in the morning, evening etc... randomly... where the fone goes blank while in a call.... since the problem never happens when we go to troubleshoot the issue, we really dont know what is going on. This is happening when calling PSTN.
AP's are not restarting and there is no logs indicating that. Wireless infrastructure looks very much OK cos there are other users who are not experiencing this problem and there is ample coverage all over the floor. I am baffled why only one user has this problem even when he is seated in his office cabin.
Tried changing phones also, but still remains.
Question  : i tried to do a linktest from WLC to his phone, but it failed, while linktest to laptops are working fine. Does wlc linktest not working for wireless phones ?
    regards

  • Wireless voice quality issues with wlc 5508 7.0.98

    Hi,
I am having random occurances of voice drops (one-way audio) during phone calls. WLC 5508 (7.0.98) , LAP1242AG (only G antenna present), and 7925G phones. coverage is excellent throughout the floor and its a confined office space. Its not happening always. I am seeing these logs , not sure if it is related. :
*apfReceiveTask: Feb 10 11:31:53.831: %RRM-3-RRM_LOGMSG: rrmChanUtils.c:290 RRM LOG: Airewave Director: Could not find valid channel lists for 802.11bg

I have set DCA list to1,6 and 11. I tried disabling RRM and statically fixing the channels and power also. Still the issue is seen,
    7925G firmware is 1.4.1
i tried to do linktest from the WLC to the phone, but link test is failed. linktest to a laptop works though. I have only mac filtering for the voice ssid.
    any suggestions pls ?

  • Clustering issue with WLCS 3.2 weblogic 5.1 and service pack 8

I'm having a problem with Portlets on a page with commerce server 3.2 on
Cluster A below. One Portal page has multiple portlets on it. When the
Portal Page executes the portlets are being scheduled across both SCCWLS00
and SCCWLS01 and they are not able to share the session. Thus they will
throw exceptions trying to read properties from the WLCS profile which is
              shared.
In Cluster B, When the portal page excutes all portlets are "pinned" to that
server and they share the information perfectly. Both Cluster Groups have
their CLUSTER-wide weblogic.properties file set for
              weblogic.httpd.clustering.enable=true

              weblogic.httpd.session.persistentStoreType=replicated
              weblogic.httpd.register.cluster=weblogic.servlet.internal.HttpClusterServlet
Any ideas on why this is happening? And How I can correct it?

  • Blackberry curve password issue with alt

    Hi,
can any one please resolve this issue.
I had set my password in lowercase alphabets, I am not sure what went wrong that after my phone got locked I am able to enter only special character, I tried 4 time and after that I get an option of entering "blackberry", now I am stuck here.
The concern is that the alt key is enabled, I see the alt icon on the right top corner of my screen, and now when I am trying to enter alphabets its not allowing me too...
How do I go about this...???

Are you saying the ALT symbol is stuck on in the upper corner?
Leave your BlackBerry powered ON, remove the battery and replace to reboot.
Upon reboot, is the ALT icon still there?

    Hello!
The ThinkVantage Password application is completely interfering with my Outlook work email address. Even the technicians with the Fortune 100 company that I work for say that ThinkVantage is "obtrusive & messy". My ThinkPad Edge is built for business yet it can't carry out elementary tasks...
Since there seems to be no way for my Outlook and ThinkVantage Password to co-exist... I would just like to know how to disable ThinkVantage Tools, without having to uninstall the program.
    Thank you very much.
