• PrE 9 Encoder Activation

Having got everything sorted and become very happy with PrE9, I tried to add a little MP2 video file with Get Media.
It's telling me that it needs to Activate the encoder over the 'net. However, the process freezes at the web page and gets no further.
Are others seeing this?

At least one other has reported problems with encoder activation.  Apparently there is an error on the encoder activation page for what he is trying to do:
http://www.adobe.com/go/premiereel_encoder
I don't know if it is the same problem you are seeing but you should report the problem to Adobe via the 'Contact' button at the top of the page (if you haven't already done so).
Personally I haven't gotten far enough into the program (yet) to run into this.
UPDATE:
Now I have run into this.  I attempted to render HD and received the problem activating component message.  When I tried their manual process, using both Safari and Firefox, the above page did not load correctly. Chalk up another user DIW until Adobe fixes this.  And I am using a licensed copy of PrE 9 +
I did report the problem to Adobe.
2ND UPDATE:  It just now (21:20 PDT) started working again.

• Is the Profit Center a pre-requisite for activating the New GL?

We are currently using the Classic General Ledger in the ECC 6.0 and looking into activating the New General Ledger. However, we are not using the Profit Center. Can anyone help me if we can activate the new General Ledger without activating the Profit Center?
Thanks

Nope - that is incorrect information - there are many benefits to new GL. However turning on new GL and not using PC are not connected to each other. PC is activated in case if you genuinely feel the need to report Profits/revenues across a PC.

• Subsequent / re-activation of Cost of Sales Accounting

We are currently engaged at a new SAP customer (ECC6) that does not currently require COS Accounting to be activated /functional area functionality, but might require it at a later stage / subsequent to the initial go-live.
Based on the contents of SAP Note 740519, it appears that when COS Accounting is subsequently activated, the functional area cannot be repopulated for historic data when using ECC6.
QUESTION:
Should the customer decide to subsequently activate COS Accounting at the start of a new fiscal year (i.e. post go-live), all the P&L data will be populated with the functional area from the start of the new fiscal year. However, what about the carry forward balances for the Balance Sheet accounts? Is there a way to repopulate the "carried forward" balances in the Balance Sheet with a functional area, else the balance sheet will always contain incomplete functional area data for the carried forward balances.
Also, please advise if there is a program available to repopulate functional areas subsequently in the event of a subsequent activation of COS Accounting. If not, if the customer activate COS Accounting even though they don't require it at present, because it appears that you cannot change the functional area assignments once updated with transactional data?
As such, what is the recommended course of action:
1. Only activate COS Accounting when required, but resulting issues with updating historic data with functional area.... OR
2. Activate and configure pre go-live, but then cannot change functional area assignments once populated with transactional data.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Dolf

Hi Dolf
I have exactly the same requirement now with respect to cost of sales accounting. My client went live a couple of months back and now wants to activate Cost of Sales Accouting.  I have the same question of how to populate the existing historic data with the functional areas.
What did you do when you had this issue? Did you find out any way or work around to update the historic data with functional area? What approach did you take during your implementation?
Your response would be highly appreciated and rewarded.

• I have a Palm Pre in Italy.

I know this issue has come up before in these forums but it was back in 2009.
We are now 2010
I have a Palm Pre and live in Italy. The phone is registered with Palm as being in Italy
The phone was bought on E Bay and is from Germany
I have a Canadian and Italian credit card
When I want to buy an App and submit my credit card details I cannot enter them because Italy or Canada is not a provided option.
Has this wrinkle been addressed yet by Palm - will it do so in the future. Does anyone know a way around this little wrinkle
Thx in advance

Hello and welcome to the forums;
Each phone is associated with a specific country. The country is assigned automatically the first time a Palm profile is created on the phone. The App Catalog apps you can access are based on the country associated with the phone.
Phones associated with the following countries or regions can use App Catalog to purchase apps and to download free apps:
Canada; Germany; Ireland; Mexico; Spain; United Kingdom; United States (these are the countries in which Palm is sold locally by carriers)
Phones associated with the following countries or regions can use App Catalog to download free apps only:
Australia; Austria; Belgium; China; Czech Republic; France; Hong Kong; Italy; Luxembourg; Netherlands; Norway; Poland; Switzerland (Palm devices are not locally sold in these countries, they need to be imported)
Unfortunately, this is the reason you are unable to enter payment information, and will be unable to purchase apps. If you can see paid apps, the device may have been activated in Germany originally, and as such if you had a German card (and billing address) it may accept that as an option, but I cannot guarantee it.
Hope this helps,

• Regarding mid year go-live

Dear Gurus,
i am new to midyear glive. i have gone through the threads on it n i got some idea..
but i have the following doubts:
1. when should i upload the data n run inlk schema? before golive or after go live??
2. if after golive, whether it should be before first live run or after payroll run??
3. what should be the control record status at the time of uploading the tables?
4.we give all the wagetype with payments n deductions data, but what about p.f,esi, lwf and lwf...?
5.what wagetypes should i give for statutory deductions.
if i am not wrong then,p.f=/3f1,esi=/3e1,p.tax=/3p1, lwf=/3w1 . correct me if im wrong.
5. do i need to update it deductions also, or system will calculate???
if yes is it enough to add /460=income tax deducted every time???
6. how about the exemptions part?? do i need to maintain some data related to that??
thanks in advance.....
Edited by: Sikindar on Jan 25, 2010 2:23 PM

In this IMG node a link has been given to table T558B.In this table the pre go live periods has to be entered with the personnel number and start date and the end date for a particular period.
In this IMG node the link has been given to table T558C . In this table the data for each personnel number entered in table T558B for every period has to be entered. All the payments and deductions for an employee needs to be entered in this table.
the schema INLK which is the schema used for Mid Year Go Live purpose. It also shows the selection screen of the payroll driver HINCALC0 which needs to be executed with schema INLK.
Check The documentation on how to use the schema INLK  The two file existing in this location relevant for INLK are :
       1) Legacy Data Transfer and
       2) An excel sheet named HR Template u2013 Payroll u2013 This excel sheet contains two tabs 558B and 558C . Data can be entered   in  tables T558B and T558C with the use of this excel sheet and SAP provided programs HINUULK0
mean apart from /3f1,/3e1,/3w1 n /3p1 i also need to maintain er contributions like /3f3-pf er contribution, /3f2-vpf ee contribution,
/3f4-vpf er contribution, /3e2-esi er contribution, /3w2-lwf er contribution.
Yes as form 16  requires those wage types also
n i also have to maintain /560 for net pay n /460 for income tax???
i dont think so for /560  but income tax we have to modify (iam not Sure abt This ) Wait for other expert views
hw about exemptions what wagetpes do i give for exemptions????
yes we have to give the Exemptions as in Form 16  your Gorss income -  Exemptions is the Total Taxable income right
have a look at this one alo
Please check

• Mid-year Go-live query

Hi All,
I have a doubt related to mid-year go-live...
Is it necessary to do mid year go live activity (for India payroll) or can we go live without mid year activity?
Regards,
Prasad Lad

Hi Sikindar ,
Thanks for the reply.
The client will be taking the form 16 outside the system for this year & they want the History Master data for all the employees to be stored in the system. Its a problem coz its too much of HR master data....
Even i was thinking to maintain the 2 tables & run INLK, however while doing that need to check which all wagetypes needs to be taken into consideration.
Is there any way where i can tell the client that it is not possible to maintain the history data in the system ???
Regards,

• Activated AT&T Pre3, wifi now, but App Catalog doesn't work?

[copied here from Precentral post/thread: http://forums.precentral.net/hp-pre-3/303421-activated-t-pre3-wifi-now-but-app-catalog-doesnt-work.h... ]
Hey there,
Just a couple of days ago, with a borrowed AT&T SIM, I activated a GSM Pre3, creating a new profile, then when it turned off to reboot, I removed the SIM card.
My plan is to just keep it in airplane mode and use it via WiFi.
Then I went home and tried to play with the App Catalog. I can browse it, but I can't download anything from it, free or not; the download fails after trying. The download progress bar doesn't make any progress. The phone's only using wifi.
In the app menu in the App Catalog, my "Preferences & Accounts" option was grayed out.
This morning, I remembered about the email verification email that I should have gotten from HP from creating a new profile. I found it and clicked the verification link therein. I just logged into my profile via the browser, and my webOS Account Status says "Email verified".
I tried again to go into the App Catalog (less than 5 minutes after verifying my email), and the "Preferences & Accounts" menu option is still gray and unavailable. When I try to buy a paid app, it says "The action could not be completed. Try again later."
The Wifi network is fine; I've just verified by loading a page in the browser.
What could be wrong with my App Catalog access? How do I fix it?
This isn't exactly my first webOS rodeo; I've had a Pre, an unlocked Pre2 (which I did pretty much the same thing for--borrowed SIM to activate, then use as wifi-only, App Catalog access is fine), and a TouchPad (shares the profile from the Pre).
I've never come across this problem before...
-- STITCHING IN A FOLLOW-UP MESSAGE --
I've tried an old Cingular SIM (no active account on it), an old AT&T SIM (no account on it), and even a TalkMobile SIM (from the UK).
None of those made any difference in the App Catalog. Downloads always fail, and the Preferences & Accounts menu option is always gray.
I even went into the SIM Toolkit app several times, with each of the SIMs installed, and each time, the app advised that the "menu" could only be used after the phone had been on for 30 seconds. It gave me that message even after definitely waiting for longer than 30 seconds.
Perhaps troubling on a different front is that, even with the UK SIM in there, the Pre 3 didn't ask for an unlock code, which I thought it was supposed to do (as soon as it detects a non-AT&T SIM in the slot).
Anyone got any other ideas about what to try??
Post relates to: Pre 3 Manta (AT&T)
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Hey, so I don't have much in the way of definitive answers, but I've made some progress.
Here's the story from where I last left off...
I posted most of what I'd said by that point in this thread into a post in the Palm support forums (as of right now, no responses):
http://forums.hpwebos.com/t5/webOS-Software/Activated-AT-amp-T-Pre3-wifi-now-but-App-Catalog-doesn-t...
I tried Impostah to just install from there using the app IDs for the apps in which I was interested, both free ones and paid ones. Those downloads also failed with no helpful error messages
Then I had a looooong chat with Palm tech support, starting here: http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb2/na/deviceselector/page_en.html#NA Palm.com : Support Phones . I chose to start the process using the "HP Veer" option. Not much useful happened in that chat, but the agent did suggest that maybe a doctoring would help.
I doctored it using the ATT Pre 3 webOS Doctor available here: WebOS Doctor Versions - WebOS Internals
I followed steps 1-12 detailed in this PreCentral thread: Global Paid App Catalog Access for new unlocked GSM Pre 2/Pre 3/Veer (using Impostah) (http://forums.precentral.net/webos-internals/281075-global-paid-app-catalog-access-new-unlocked-gsm-... )  At step 8, I did not have to set an activation country and language as that seemed to have been remembered from before (probably from the borrowed AT&T SIM I first used). At step 9, I created a new Palm Profile to use during this round of exploration. At step 12, wherein I was supposed to be able to confirm that I had paid App catalog access, I could successfully download free apps (Facebook, Skype, Clock Sync, Maps update), but paid apps still failed without making any progress. Note that this was all with an empty SIM slot.
I successfully unlocked the device. I put in an active T-Mobile SIM in there, booted it while in airplane mode, and the first screen after the HP blinking circle screen was dialpad screen asking me to enter an Unlock Code. I did, and it worked. I immediately placed a test call successfully with that SIM in into it, and the receiving phone showed that person's phone number, as it should.
I took a break from working with it, and, hours later, I just monkeyed around in Impostah a bunch more, and this is where it gets fuzzy, 'cause it was late by then. I think I spent most of my time in the Activation, App Catalog, Palm Profile, Accounts, and Backups scenes, both just viewing things and trying various things that mostly seemed to not make much difference. I also turned off the webOS automatic Backups a couple of times in that mix. I also managed to delete the Dr. Skipped Firstuse webOS account/profile from the device so that it no longer shows up in the Accounts app. But free apps still seem to download and install successfully...and I seem to be logged into my test profile. Note that I have not yet gone to step 15 of the "Global Paid App Catalog Access for new unlocked GSM Pre2/Pre 3/Veer (using Impostah)" thread, wherein you're supposed to doctor it again and activate/sign into the phone normally with. Mostly I've held off on it, because I'm afraid of losing the progress I've made so far. That and I don't have an active, data-enabled AT&T sim. My Accounts app is empty, not showing any webOS profile (it should, shouldn't it?), even though Impostah shows me signed in to my test profile.
Then, at some point, I went into the App Catalog, went into the details of a paid app (Homebrew Documentation), and tapped the "Download for $..." button. I then got a "Payment Setup" scene!!! So just now, I put in my credit card info, and I successfully downloaded the Preware Homebrew Application!
And I don't know which of my monkeying around bits actually made the difference!
So, now I've got a few main questions about how to proceed:
Is my Pre3 in some crazy intermediate state without a webOS profile really attached to it? It doesn't show any accounts in the Account app (I haven't added any email/contact/calendar/Skype/etc. accounts), but I'm concerned that it doesn't show the webOS account. The email and calendar accounts don't show any defaul accounts (should be the webOS profile, at least, I suspect).
If it is in some wacky state, do I need to doctor it to ensure that it goes into a normal state? In order, to ensure that, as step 15 in the Global Paid App Catalog thread says, "everything has been initialised correctly"? 'cause it doesn't seem like everything has been correctly initialized. But I don't like the possibility of losing the progress that I've made! Gr!
And I just found a patch that brings back the First Use app and allows you to run it...Maybe that's all I need?
http://forums.precentral.net/webos-patches/269972-patch-enable-profile-creation-activation-bypassed-...

• Problem with Picsel Smart Office Palm Pre 2

I bought SmartOffice last weekend, but when I launch this app, the app tells me the licence is not verified in a red screen of death.
I have an unlocked EU Palm Pre2, I use it in Spain. The device is activated with Movistar, but now it is use it with Simyo.
I am extremely disappointed. I wish a solution or a refund. I have problems with NDrive and PDK GPS bug also, and after some months there is not a solution
I cannot waste my money in apps that are not working.
Post relates to: Pre p100ueu (Movistar)

Well,
I've solved my problem.
I changed my Sim card with one of the carrier my Pre 2 was activated. Rebooted the Pre2 and then Smart Office was working.
I replaced again, then sim card with my carrier one, and it worked again.
This is a stupid thing, it seems that licenses are checked against carriers, but people change their carriers phone.

It doesn't address what I needed help with
I am in Malaysia with Telstra Long Life so I can receive my banking secure code when necessary from St George. However, it never arrives in time, if at all. So basically the service is useless for me and I have wasted $80. What can be going wrong and how can i ensure I receive a bank secure code sms in time that I can use it before the banking website cuts it off?
I also cannot see on the My account page where I can get the online help. I think this should always be in the bottom corner of the page as I have spent ages looking for it - depending where you are on Telstra's site, sometimes it is there and sometimes not. VERY confusing.
