Prioritization within QoS queue possible?

Our company runs QoS over an MPLS WAN, but I am personally new to the technology. Given that our provider only allows four queues (EF, AF31, AF21, and BE), we have configured four corresponding policies. This seems somewhat limiting, given the number of queues Cisco actually supports. Here's the question; Is it possible to further prioritize traffic within a given queue?
Say for example, we want to place a certain traffic type within AF31, but we do not want to adversely impact other traffic within the queue. By the same token, we do not want to move either of these traffic types to EF. Can we control, in a more granular manner, prioritization within a respective queue? Any clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

As Laurent also describes, it's usually possible to fully manage congestion to MPLS (generally easy if you control the CE router). With MPLS, though, where the limitations of the provider's QoS model are most troublesome is upon MPLS cloud egress. It's possible to indirectly control this if you logically manage your MPLS cloud as you might with frame-relay or ATM. Unfortuanately, this is often impractical if you have more than a few nodes and have a logical mesh topology vs. hub and spoke.
PS:
Some MPLS providers allow you to select from various "profiles" of QoS model choices. This can be very helpful if traffic ratios vary between sites. Also, some MPLS vendor QoS models also provide support for different drop thresholds within some classes.

  • 3850 IOS XE QoS Queue Buffers

I'm configuring QoS on a 3850 and came across the "queue-buffers ratio" command. Does anyone know what the ratio is?  I am also assuming that this is software buffers that I'm configuring. Also, what does the command affect in the IOS? If anyone can find a source for it to, that would be awesome. I couldn't find anything online. Here is the documentation on the command I'm referring to. Thank you!

    Hi John,
Here is my source of reference for this response
End to End QoS Design- Quality of Service for Rich-Media & Cloud Networks
Here is the extract from above reference, which I hope useful to you.
    - Hardware allocation of buffers is provided only to the priority queues on both wired & wireless queues of this platform.
    - The other queues are allocated bufferes on as-needed basis, making it more flexible within the system to support several queues at once.
    - Each queue (class) can leverage additional buffering capacity from the shared buffer pool based on a "queue-buffer ratio x" command.
    - This command sets the ratio of buffers received by the class and these are allocated on an as-needed basis
    - In general the max rate for the class is upto four times the configured value, the queue-buffer ratio command skew this value based on the overall ratio provided to the queue.
    - By default these use 1:1:1... for a wired port & 10:20:50:20 for a wireless port on this platform.
    - The recommended buffer allocation for wired interface queue 7 to 1 are 10:10:10:10:10:10:25 in percentage (%). Wireless port should use the default values.
    - 3850 does not provide reserve thresholds and maximum(overload) thresholds are based on the queue buffer's ratio for non priority queues.

I don't know for an ASR1K, it might depend on your IOS version.
That noted, generally Cisco recommends not to exceed one third of link bandwidth for LLQ.  They make this recommendation to leave sufficient bandwidth for other traffic, but another issue is, if you use too much bandwidth for LLQ, the traffic may queue itself, introducing delay and/or jitter to your VoIP traffic. In general, staying at or below one third should be great, going to 50% is probably okay, but going above two thirds is when you're really likely to start to self queue.  I.e. if your VoIP needs more than about half to two thirds of your link bandwidth, you probably start to need to consider obtaining more bandwidth.

  • Reordering within a list - possible?

Hi, I'm trying to reorder items in a list via drag and drop.
I can do this with two separate list components but not
    within the same one.
Am I missing something? Should this be possible?
Most of the information I can find is regarding drag and drop
operations between components and not within the same component.
    Any hints much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Barry

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have all those set to true.
This is the code I have.
At this stage the cursor is giving no feedback except a black
line between items in the list.
Also "dragEvent's - dataForFormat array has no objects in it.
Hmmm.. I'm clueless. I'm wondering whether the problem is
because I'm using a custom (MXML) renderer in the list.
    Anyway, once again thanks.

  • Tabbed report concept within single tab, possible?

    Hello there,
I want build a report that has one fact spread across 12 month columns. I then want to allow the user to switch between 5 different facts and display each by itself in the same report. Instead of having 5 tabs, each with the identical report but with a different fact column to accomplish this, is it possible to have the fact columns as calculated fields and use a dashboard prompt to let the user select which fact to display?

that isn't a good option for me. There is a fact column for each month of the year so it would be cumbersome for the user to remove and then add 12 columns each time they want to see the different fact.
The best option for me might just be a tabular report. I was hoping i could do it within a single tab and drive the fact columns with a parameter in a dropdown-list.

  • Adding attachments to PDF within ISR and possibly link to BDS in ESS

I have a requirement where the user needs to attach documentation to a request (ISR) for approval.  From my research on this forum I see that currently SAP does not support attachments in a PDF within ISR as only a small subset of the xml data to render the form is actually saved as part of the request.  A person has the ability to add attachments to the form in the process but once the form is recalled from the work list and displayed the attachements are missing.

    Hello Guys,
We are using Adobe forms with ISR framework and facing problems attaching the files  from within the PDF ; using the paper clip icon.
Once the files are  attached to the PDF form and the form is submitted, attachment disappears from the Form . Instead we have to use a "Attachment Manager" on UWL to attach the files. It is quite Confusing to have a "Paper Clip" button inside the form and also a attachment manager on UWL.
If anyone faced similiar issue and has solution to fix this, please let me know.
    We are on ECC6 with component SAP_BASIS - 701- 006- SAPKB70106.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Use Videos Created in Photoshop within After Effects - Possible?

Hello, newbie here. Can i use create video files in Photoshop CC and then import them in After Effects CC as video files?
I create video files in Photoshop CC using Photoshop CC's timeline* and save the video project in Photoshop as TIFF or PSD.
When i import these TIFFs oder PSDs to After Effects, they will only appear as still images, whatever settings i use on import (footage vs. layers). I don't see how to have the TIFFs or PSDs playing in After Effects as a video.
Is it even possible to bring a video project from Photoshop to AE as video and not as a still image?
I understand that the alternative would be to render the Photoshop video as MP4 and bring that MP4 into After Effects. I would prefer to avoid the MP4 route though.
    Thanks!

Dave, thanks - i import now the PSD file as "Sequence" and as "Composition - Retain Layer Size" and then i click "Create new Composition from Selection".
Then i get a timeline which shows the correct running time of the video created in Photoshop. All the layers and tracks are there. I also see either an image from the video or a black screen.
But i cannot play it. I can't see different frames of the video - neither by dragging the timeline marker nor by clicking "Play/Pause".
That's certainly an awkward newbie problem - seeing your video, but not able to even play it. But i even watched through the full length of three extremely detailed Adobe/Lynda video tutorials (on the official Adobe site) and didn't get closer to an answer why the video doesn't play in AE.
I have to admit that on importing i get a Quicktime error message. I also studied the official Adobe page regarding that error message and didn't understand it. But i know that when i 'had* Quicktime installed previously, it ruined my system and my mood.
So if you have any quick hint, that would be great. Thanks!

  • Different values within "conversion rule" possible?

    Hi,
in context of the HR-CRM-integration we are using a conversion rule for converting the private address (IT 0006) to a constant value by using trx bd62 -> bd79 -> bd55. This conversion rule works quite fine, but the disadvantage is that we can only define one address for all.
Is there a way using conversion rules for converting to several addresses? E.g. we have some employees in the USA, and others in Germany. Depending on the country maintained in the IT0006 we would like to convert the addresse for the colleagues in the USA to address1, for german employees to address2. At last we need something like a condition-express: "if... then". Is there anything possible achiving it, please?
    Thank you
    Maik

Found it by my own. In the transaction bd79 is it possible to use different rule types. With using "Convert/copy" we could define different search criteria for "sender fields". By setting some conditions we could filter, and set then the "Value receiver field" with proper fields.

  • Mounting external HD internally within os x. possible?

I just picked up a maxter 500gb external drive and i have no probs but.I have the external drive like 7 feet away and all the wires a routed in the desk.
Basically i have everything connected well firewire from mac to maxter. So when i eject mounted disc thats fine but say i want to mount it again is there a way i can do it within os x, cause the easiest way iv'e found (for my situation) was unplugging/plugging the firewire back in.
    Any thoughts Thanks-J.

The correct partition scheme for a bootable drive, internal or external, is GUID.
CCC may not be hung on the winvista.hdd. It is your virtual machine and you say it is 23GB. CCC reports progress on number of files, not size, so it appears not to be doing anything while copying the winvista.hdd file. I would leave it longer than half an hour.
I use CCC to clone my MacBook Pro internal drive which has both Vista and XP virtual machines and CCC has no problem with them, but it does take a while. Also of course if you just start Vista and shut it down again, it will appear to CCC as a modified file and the whole 23 Gb will get copied again. Some people exclude VMs from the clone for this reason. Depends on your working habits.
Also don't do CCC with Vista suspended, shut it down.

  • Photoshop Touch registration (within CC acct) possible?

    Dear community,
I hope you do not mind my newbie question here... But...
Just purchased Photoshop Touch for my iPad off Apple's App Store. So far so good...
Since I already have a CC account and a subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud, I would like to register my new purchase with my existing CC account, so it appears under my purchases/orders/products.
Could you please let me know how this can be accomplished? signing-in with my Adobe-ID does not automatically update my CC account with the new purchase information, and I have not yet been able to locate any serial-number for Photoshop Touch...
Any help or ideas would be highly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.
    Petros

I don't think this can be done. PS Touch is a separate app.
    Thanks!

  • 3750 - mls qos queue-set output threshold

In the IOS command, http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750/software/release/12.2_44_se/command/reference/cli1.html#wp2144505. The drop-threshold1 and 2 is in the range from 1 3200%. Can somebody elaborate on the 3200%. How do they determine that number and what that number means to my threshold? Thanks

The drop threshold should be lower than the shutdown threshold (if configured) and should be based on the maximum
amount of PDUs you expect to receive on a port and on the CPU utilization during peaks hours. These values usually determine what is a normal peak condition and therefore what could be an abnormal peak condition. Then you can set the threshold between the two to avoid excessive spikes of PDUs on a port

  • 2960-X vs 2960 QOS

I am configuring QOS for some 2960-X's for a new deployment that also has some 2960's. The current 2960's already have auto qos configured. IMO, AutoQoS is always a concern (as are device defaults, without it).
If you're doing to "do" QoS, you should have a policy that serves your service needs, and configurations to support it.  AutoQoS might, or might not, be exactly what you need.
If you're not proficient with QoS, on most LANs, you might actually be better off disabling it.
