QtCreator doesn't understand that I have Caps Lock and Esc swapped...

I use xmodmap to switch Caps Lock ans Esc, but in QtCreator, I still have to hit the actual escape button to trigger that key, for example I set the editor to use Vim-style editing. If I hit Caps Lock, nothing happens. If I hit escape, it will exist whatever mode the editor is in. It will also toggle Caps Lock because the rest of the DE knows that I have them swapped.

try
setxkbmap -option caps:swapescape
If it works add it to your .xinitrc/.xprofile/whatever.
Another option is adding this line to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-keyboard.conf:
Option "XkbOptions" "caps:swapescape"

Illustrator CS6 on Mac OSX Lion. It crashed once when we were trying to save, and once when we tried to reopen a file. When it crashes we reopen it, sign in again (this is when the trail message comes up). It signs in fine, but the file gets corrupted.
Right now I just uninstalled and reinstalled and will see if that helps.

[SOLVED] Switching Caps Lock and Escape

I know this has been asked before, but none of the solutions proposed work for me.
I can currently think of four solutions for this:
* Using xmodmap
* Using setxbmap
* Playing around with udev
* Using DE specific setting
I would like my setting to DE agnostic and as far as possible changing only user config files, so I'm looking for a solution with one of the first two approaches. Referring to previous discussions [1], I tried the following:
* /usr/bin/setxkbmap -option "caps:swapescape"
* Setting caps lock and esc values in .xmodmap file and invoking using /usr/bin/xmodmap ~/.xmodmap
I tried all possible variations, by putting the above in .profile and .xinitrc separately. But, nothing seems to work. How do I solve this problem?

I also use and recommend the first method.
xinitrc is not always read - there isn't a simple way to 'check' but you should know. How do you start X? If you are using a DE (as indicated in the first post) many DE's come with their own display managers (DMs) and often these do not read xinitrc.

Hey I've been all over and can't get any help. I'm well aware its not an Apple product but its an app for Mac OS so I thought I'd try here. I bought 2 new iMacs yesterday for my parents (5K) and I'm just trying to get them some help as there in their 70's and AOL is all they know.

If anyone is running 10.8. or later, then they might have to right or control click on the installer or app to "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper controls at least once, then it learns it's a ok to be trusted program.

My company graciously gifted my department with a new iPad to use for presentations. I have used many iPads in the past and had no trouble updating and uploading Keynote presentations to iCloud. However having set this iPad up straight out the box it seems to be giving me issues and I cant seem to find anyone having a similar issue while browsing the web. My iCloud doesn't recognise that I have Keynote on my iPad and therefore wont allow me to synch or update files via iCloud.com. iCloud simply tells me to "get keynote". I used a company apple ID to get keynote and a personal ID for iCloud... could this be the conflict? I'm sure I have done this before on other company iPads but this one seems to be having issues...
Can anyone suggest a fix for me? I have made sure that all the correct boxes are ticked in terms of allowing data on iCloud synching and using iCloud for keynote and still nothing. Getting very frustrated

it is actually very easy to check, sign into company's id in icloud and see if that was a reason.

Let us go back over that Adobe document regarding troubleshooting damaged projects.

Where you able to follow that path and delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file at the end of the path? And, after you did, did the saved/closed programs still refuse to open? If you could not carry out this procedure, what were the limiting factors that kept you from do

That is an important one. How far did you get into following the instructions given in the document? If you could not complete the test, what was the major block that prevented you from doing so?
I want to make sure that we have gone through everything in that document and ruled all factors there in or out. If it was a matter of you not understanding the instructions, I am hoping that the above will channel you questions to me so that I can clarify anything that you did not understand in the Adobe document instructions.
I do not recall if I asked previously. Even if you cannot open all your saved/closed projects, can you still open a new project and save/close it? Maybe even reopen it?

M…oSoft products aren't allowed on my machines but I use LibreOffice which is a clone of Office.
When I export from Numbers to Excel and open the result with LibreOffice, the dates are correctly treated.
To be precise, dates after 01/01/1904 are correctly treated. dates before 01/01/1904 are exported as strings but, as it's flagged during the export process, it's not surprising.

It won't give me the option to sign out of the old account, it's that light grey color that you can't click on. And since it has the old email address that it's telling me to go into to verify the account, I can't actually change it... I'm stuck

It sounds like all of your contacts on your Mac running Lion are actually stored up in iCloud.
Several users running Mac OS X Lion and now ML (and iCloud) have no longer been able to "sync" contacts over to their older iPods models.
A work around is to export all of your contacts out of Address Book as vCards and them copy these vCards into your iPod's Contacts folder. You'll need to have the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in order to browse out to the iPod's Contacts folder via the Finder.
Using your iPod as a storage drive
That's the only "solution" I have been able to use to get contacts to sync/appear on my 5G iPod Video.

My dealer has tried and failed (twice) to correct this and I have tried deleting the two items in the Itunes folder but no luck!

After installing itunes I get an error that says that I have to unistall and reinstall itunes because I'm missing something but it does not tell me what it is.

When you see the old number come up in the suggested choices look for a blue arrow to the right of the Contact. Tap the blue arrow and then tap Remove from Recents.
