Renaming Network Drive + some issues

Hi everyone, I have connected a network drive to the AE base, through a self powered USB hub to which is also connected the printer.
The first issue that I seem to have is that the drive doesn't automatically load neither in Windows or the Mac. I have to use the Utility, connect and then it will show up...
The second issue is the fact that the mac puts a Network connection icon with a "NO NAME" tag underneath to show the disk. It cannot be renamed, and even if I renamed the disk plugging it directly into the mac, it will still show this No Name tag... Any ideas on how can I change that?
Thanks a lot!

Perhaps the information in KB 305040, AirPort Extreme (802.11n): USB volume does not appear in Airport Disk Utility, or appears with an unexpected name will help.

  • Windows 8.1 Mapping Network Drive - Credentials Issue

    Hello experts-
I am attempting to map a network drive to access my WD My Cloud.  However, when I select the drive to map to, it prompts me to enter my "network credentials."  After inputting my Windows ID and password, I receive an "Access is denied"
error and am re-prompted to enter my credentials.
First, I want to call out that I am far from a computer-wiz so terms like "Workgroup" and "Domain Name" don't mean much to me (although I was able to find my Homegroup password, which still did not work).  Can someone clearly and
simply tell me what I am doing wrong?  I am only connecting 1 computer to the network drive.  It seems like this should be relatively straight forward.
One potential cause:  my user ID is my email so it ends in "@gmail.com" - when I begin typing it, my laptop name is displayed as the domain until I enter the @ symbol, after which it changes the domain to "gmail.com."  Is there
a workaround if this is the issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    -Nate

Were you able to install WDMyCloud software and have you set any password during that configuration? Maybe you would want to rerun the software again.
Or, there are some sync software that was keeping a live connection under the admin account, preventing you to use some other credentials to access the shares through Windows explorer

  • Z87-G45 Network Driver/Adapter Issue

    Hello,
Since I purchased this motherboard a year and a half ago I've been having an issue with the network adapter. Typically when I boot my computer my internet won't work. When running the Windows Troubleshooting tool it says that the wired network adapter is experiencing problems. In order to get my internet to work I usually unplug and replug in the network cable a number of times, disable and reenable the adapter, and/or restart until it starts working again. Not a very clean method, but it usually works.
In an attempt to fix this issue, I downloaded the network drivers from the MSI website. I removed the driver program and uninstalled the driver from device manager. When I run the driver installer I get a message saying You must remove the following installation(s) before the setup can proceed. Please remove from Control Panel -> Programs and Features: * Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager
The Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager is not listed under Programs and Features since I've removed it. I cannot find anything related to Qualcomm in my computer's program files or anything. I'm really not sure where the installer references in order to determine that the program is installed - I'm thinking it could possibly be a reg key or something. Regardless, my wired internet is not working at the moment. I'd appreciate any help you guys could provide in the matter.
    Thanks

    Hey again,
I was able to install my network driver software, but I'm still having an issue with the network adapter. I'm not sure if this is a driver or a software issue, but like I said in the above post, in order to get my internet to work through that network adapter I have to unplug and replug in the network cable a number of times and disable and re-enable the adapter through the adapter settings page.
Would anybody be able to advise me on this?

    HI,<o:p></o:p>

Recently we have added 5 machines of WINDOWS 8 Client in our Network. We have observed that in none of the Windows 8 client machines,  Network drives are not

    Hi,
In Group Policy Preferences,is "Reconnect" option ticked? If yes, please un-tick this option and check the result. Meanwhile, please check the below post which is discussing the same problem in Windows 8.

  • Network Drives Mapping Issue

    Hello Everyone,
Since 10 days we have been facing a very different issue. A user in my company is not able to map shared drives on his Windows 7 Laptop.
There are 6 windows-7 workstations having a Share in their respective c drive.  C:\ABC\xxx_share. These folders has "everyone" on both share and security permissions.
\machine1\xxx_share (Using single slash instead of double slash here becoz its not letting me post links here)
    \machine2\xxx_share
    \machine3\xxx_share
    \machine4\xxx_share
    \machine5\xxx_share
    \machine6\xxx_share
when we try accessing \machine1\c$ - nothing comes out.
We have tried mapping through IP address
We have tried force mapping through CMD
we checked firewall, everything is off.
I have directly added the user to all the 6 folders even though user is not able to map it.
We are not able to diagnose as what an issue can be here.
The machine is pingable and we are able to take RDP a couple of days back, but now even the machines are not accessible.
    I would request your help.
    Thanks
    Metal Musician

Thanks Mike. Yes i tried mapping to the shared folder only. I just tried to check C$ whether it accessible or not.
It was not accessible. This is not resolved yet
If you cannot even RDP to the clients that is not the problem of shared folders etc. However C$ is accessible to local admins, security software disable access to those hidden shares as a default behavior. McAfee HIP is a case in point. Also hidden shares can
    be disabled too.

Hello i am using TimeMachine to back-up entire Mac image (data + system) on an usb-local drive. I would like (on top of it) add a specific plan to back up some files on a remote network drive. Does TimeMachine support multiple back-up plans ? How ?

Time Machine is capable of backing up to multiple locations, and can be used to back up to both a local hard drive and a networked drive (provided that that drive is in or connected to a Time Capsule or another Mac that is sharing it over the network). The catch, though, is that you can't specify different things to back up to different destinations. Whatever you exclude from Time Machine backups is excluded from ALL backups, and whatever is included is included on all.
So, get a large enough drive that you can back up everything you want in all locations, or use something else for maintaining the network backup.

Kindly advice me on the above issue, if you know the solution.

    There is no solution.
Oracle simply has never supported networked drives, because you would need to run Oracle using the domain administrator account.
    This poses security risks.
You need to copy the file to a local drive.

  • Issue trying to use a Sharepoint document library as a network drive on which a software can create and delete content

    Hi,
With my colleagues we are using a dictation/transcription software which automatically creates files, moves them from folders to folders and deletes them. Until now, all this was done on a network drive, but the drive will soon be unavailable and
we will eventually have to use a SharePoint document library instead, and I am currently testing this option.
I have created a document library (with no versioning and no check out required) and I mapped it as a drive in Windows Explorer to link the SharePoint folders with the dictation software. Everything seems to work fine except
for one thing: when the dictation software tries to move files from one folder to another, the files are pasted in the destination folder but not deleted from the original folder and an error message pops up saying "delete operation has failed".
So the softaware is able to automatically create new content in the document library but is unable to automatically delete (I can however delete manually through the software interface).
Any idea on what is causing this issue and how to solve it?
    Thank you

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the documents cannot be deleted in the original folder when using the software with SharePoint library.
I recommend to verify the things below:
Which credential did you use to map the document library as network drive?
If the credential was windows logon, then I recommend to check if the documents can be deleted in the network drive which was connected to SharePoint library directly.
If the documents can be deleted in the network drive which was connected to SharePoint library, then the issue may be due to the compatibility problem between the software and WebDAV. Then you need to check the issue using third-party software provider.
    Best regards.

  • Network Drive issues - Login fails

    Hello,
I've been struggling with this problem today after installing Leopard. There were no problems under Tiger.
I've got a network drive, and I can see it clearly in the Shared side-menu of a Finder window. The drive isn't set up to let Guests in, so I tried Authenticating myself with the user name and password we've used here at the office the last three years (so, I'm not typing in the wrong password..) and it says it's the wrong username or password.
I tried Command-K connecting, with a long, detailed address (cifs://WORKGROUP;USERNAME@DRIVENAME/SHARENAME) and it connects fine, fast and asks for authentication. But again, the absolutely for certain right password gets rejected.
Pinging the drive in a Terminal also confirms the drive is there, the computer has no problem seeing it.
I'm downloading 10.5.2 as we speak, so I'll see if that solves my problem. But if any of you have experienced this, or have any suggestions, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
Edit: Oh, the hard disk is connected to a Linksys Network Storage Link.
    Cheers,
    Jon

I might as well add that connecting to a Windows machine works fine, so it doesn't seem to be connected to the SMB/Leopard issues I've heard people talk about.

Having issues mapping network drives to my Mac. I trying to use samba, the name of the server is Media_Server and I want it to connect to volume_1. So I put int smb://mediaserver/volume1 and I get an error.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

It is not showing on the Desktop or the left colomn of Finder (Set to do both in Finder Prefernces) and is not showing up under the Disk application under Utilities (Sorry can't remember the name off the top of my head!)

You should be able to read NTFS formatted drives, just not write to them. For that matter, USB Flash drives generally come formatted NTFS for use with PC's and they have to be able to mount on a Mac in order to reformat them for Mac use. The Windows utilities supplied on those Flash drives will be deleted when the drive is reformatted for Mac use so I routinely copy them to the Mac desktop first before reformatting.
You might look into something like this http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/U3NVSPATA/ if the enclosure is an issue. It looks weird but it works.

  • X240 Network Driver issue with Windows PE

HelloI am working with OSD deployment in a big organisation. We are using SCCM 2012 SP1 to deploy new computers with our own image and applications. The new Thinkpad X240 is causing a big problem at the moment since we do not seem to be able to find an appropriate Ethernet network driver for the built-in Intel ethernet interface that is working in winPE 4.0. This is what happens. The computer boots, I press the F12 key, the computer presents a list of bootable devices, I choose the ethernet NIC.The computer PXE boots - it recieves an DHCP address from our server, downloads boot.wim, downloads the boot.winPE.boot.wim file and then starts winPE on the X240. It gets to "Preparing Network Connections", hangs there for a while, and then it reboots. If I use the F8 option and run ipconfig, it reports "Windows IP Configuration" and nothing else. If I run /renew it says "The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation". There seems to be no NIC available to winPE to start the Task Sequence with.I have downloaded the Windows 8 x64 Network driver and the Windows 7 x64 enterprise driver package Network driver from Lenovo, for this model and injected the Network drivers in the WinPe boot file. Neither of these drivers is working with the Network Interface in winPE. We do not have any problems with any other models, they all install with our SCCM 2012 SP1. Is there anyone who have experienced and resolved this? Kind regardsNick

Hello,  I experiencing the strikly same situation with the same configuration :- SCCM 2012 SP1,- SCCM 2012 SP1 Boot Image x86 4.0,- Lenovo X240,- Drivers Lenovo SCCM package for Windows 7 (32-bit) http://support.lenovo.com/fr/fr/downloads/ds038819- Task Sequence W7x86. No problem when deploying an adaptated Task Sequence with Lenovo X250. However, WinPE don't allowing the network adapter to get a TCP IP configuration when deploying with Lenovo X240. To resolve this situation, do you use :- the standard boot image in the Windows 8 DVD or a customized one with Windows ADK ?- your boot image is this a x86 type or x64 ?- In case of a customized Boot Image, have you, please, some advice to give to use Windows ADK ?  Best regards

  • Issue with network drive on E3000

So I have a brand new network drive and its NTFS formatted and when I go into the management screen all it shows is:

    Partition
    File System
    Capacity
    Free Space

    1863.016 GB
When I try to connect it returns the volume name, but cannot be mounted. When I format at FAT32 then instead of the * I see FAT32, but not so with NTFS. I owuld have gone FAT32, but the 4GB file limit is a problem.
    Help? Any ideas?
    Thanks.

As far as i can look into this, Your HDD should work with the same as Original Documentation that comes along with the Linksys E3000 router and also mentioned on the official website, says that it supports file system like FAT16, FAT32 & NTFS.....
What you can try is first of all take up a complete back up of the data that is already present on the HDD that you are using and then try to reformat the HDD using one of your computer...
