Resizing swf!!? (px not kb)

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this small issue I'm having...
For one of my clients I created a small flash animation that was 300px x 300px. The resolution was perfect. I now need to insert the animation into another html page but it needs to be resized to 175px x 175px. This is where the problems happen. When I scale the file down in Dreamweaver CS4 the animation becomes very pixellated. I don't really understand why. I could understand it if I were scaling up but wouldn't have thought it would be a problem when scaling down.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? I would prefer to not have to re-do my original animation in the size I know need it!

If your file uses flash vector graphics, resizing in any direction will not matter, but when you use bitmap files (jpg, etc) they can get distorted when they are not displayed at the actual size. So if it is images in the file that are presenting the problem, then your best bet at trying to get them to adapt, short of recreating the file with resized images, will be to set the images to allow smoothing. You can do this by right clicking the images in the library, selecting Properties, and then selecting the option to allow smoothing.

Perplexed about resizing swf to window

Hi all,
I cannot change both the width 100% and height 100% of my SWF in the properties panel of DW and have the movie load on my website (it is missing). I can change the width to 100% and the height to any size (100 to 2000 px) and the movie will fit horizontally all the way across my screen but is either to short or to tall vertically, respectively.
I can change all kinds of parameters (adding or deleting) and get the same result. I see a lot of conversation about this in the forums but not a straight forward fix for the non-java types. I have changed alot of info for the tags inculding padding and margin to 0 and height and width to 100%.
I am using DW CS5. Any suggestions?

In some browsers it will work, to some degree, in others it will not without a little JavaScript and/or resizing the page,

Unable to load style(SWF is not a loadable module)

While devoloping an App voor iOS we decided to use several StyleSheets.
We are implementing the loading of Stylesheets as:
event_dispatcher:IEventDispatcher = this.styleManager.loadStyleDeclarations2("assests/styles/default.swf");
event_dispatcher.addEventListener(StyleEvent.COMPLETE, OnStyleLoaded);
event_dispatcher.addEventListener(StyleEvent.ERROR, OnStyleError);
running the app on the desktop simulators work fine.
packaging the app with package method fast, and running the app on an iphone4 works fine.
packaging the app with package method standaard, and running the app on an iphone4 gives an error:
Unable to load style(SWF is not a loadable module): assets/styles/default.swf.
Is there something im missing? Why does it work when packaging as Fast, and not as Standard?

        The source file is .swf ie(.css is converted to .swf).
         Main swf is running from local.
         Style module is from server.
I set security domain. But it throws security sanbox violation.
What should i do. Even some time if a use the local url means it thorws the same error Unable to load style(SWF is not a loadable module).

On the MBP, in iTunes, switch to Song view and enable the iCloud Status column by pulling down View > View options and selecting the option for "iCloud Status." Close the small window. Look for any tracks that have a status of "waiting." If you see several of them disable iTunes Match while holding down the Option key. Quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, then open it again and turn iTM back on. Let it compelete the scan. Wait until all tracks that are "waiting" have a status of either "matched" or "uploaded."
On the iPad, turn off iTunes Match then launch the Music app and let the contents clear out. Power cycle the iPad for good measure, then re-enable the service once all the tracks in iTunes have been processed.

.swf files not displaying all of a sudden!

Hi all
currently working on a new website for my design company and
have hit an unexpected - and very annoying - problem!
my portfolio graphics are all vector illustrations - I export
them from there as a .swf file - dump them into dreamweaver - and
away we go. all has been going fine - my portfolio covers 4 pages -
first two have worked fine - the final two simply will not display
when previewed in browser - or uploaded via ftp to a site area.
the graphics have all been created in similar ways - the
export functions for .swf have not been altered in any way at all -
but still not displaying. when i open up flash player to preview
the file - again blank - when i do the same with the first two .swf
files, no issues!!
I have recreated the html files to see if that was the issue
... to no avail.
I also dumped the swfs into the 2 html files that are working
fine - still no luck.
tis driving me mad - any ideas guys??? as i said - they are
just vector logos as with the first two pages so not sure what on
earth is happening!

Swf is not working properly when upload to server

I develop 1.swf which is having 3 buttons each one having
anather .swf to call 2.swf, 3.swf respectively.
This application is running perfectly on my PC, but
While uploading the swf to server the 2.swf and 3.swf is
not running. Can any one tell how to recover from this kind
of problem.

why is that we insist on seeing the source file ?
There is no one way of doing things in flash and no one can
help
you based on "does not work description".
This is way to broad of a subject to even try to guess.
Same as asking "my car does not work, what's up with
that"....
Please upload the problematic file and provide url for us to
check.
Otherwise you need to try to troubleshoot it yourself as we
can't
guess from here what possibly is wrong with that file.

Resizing Image and Not Keep Aspect Ratio

Is there a free program to resize images and not keep the original aspect ratio?
I need to resize loads of images to 100x100 pixels and have tried Image well and IResize yet they do not seem to have an option to not keep the original aspect ratio.

Hi, Downsize does not seem all that great according to reviews. Why not see if you can buy PS E' 3 mac -- maybe ebay/amazon (if I remember I only paid about $70 for PS E3) As PS E4 just came out I'm sure someone has PS E3 for sale. You will then have no problems completing your image resizing.
2 other questions for you..are you using the Mac side of your intel or Windows?
if your using the Windows side I can let you have PS 6 (PC) ..freegratus.

SWF File not working after upload to server, but works on local system

HELP PLEASE.....I have created a Fla and exported a swf file
from Flash 8 and Export (Flash 6). I can preview the page in
Dreamweaver just fine, but when i upload it and the html file, it
isn't showing up. It leaves a blank spot on the page. It is just a
simple banner with graphic clips and motion tween text, with image
bgd. All images are jpg.
I have tried:
1. Using a full link to the swf file.
2. Removed drop-shodows in swf file
3. convert to Flash mx 2004 file
4. Exported to higher Flash version to see if the flash
player was an issue.
5. Exported with no dashes in name
6. Added Scr file into Dreamweaver
7. Made a new test file to see if it was something in the
current html doc, same result.
8. Tried viewing on a pc, same result. Created on mac.

The link you provided is to the SWF file, not to an HTML
file, so no one can test your HTML file.
Have you checked the code for the embedding of the SWF file
in your HTML file? I don't use Dreamweaver much, but I do know that
if you start assembling a Dreamweaver file without first saving the
HTML, embedded graphics and other items are inserted as direct
links to the files on your computer, rather than as relative paths.
There is one other possible issue: I note that your swf is
called CWABanner.swf. Depending on your FTP settings, it is
possible that your server is forcing all file names to lower case
(a common practice). Which means the file on your server will be
cwabanner.swf. Again, depending on how the web server is set up, if
it is case sensitive, it will treat CWABanner and cwabanner as
separate files. So if the HTML calls CWABanner.swf, but the FTP
upload has forced a rename to lower case to cwabanner.swf, the HTML
file will not find it. Check this out, or to be absolutely certain,
rename everything to lower case: the file name itself and the
reference in the HTML file.

Swf does not publish properly, plays fine in preview browser.

I have scoured the internet looking for a solution, and I work with a team of professional Flash developers... Nobody can figure this out.
I have a SWF I've been trying to publish to the web. It's inside an AP div tag. The swf plays fine in Preview mode. When I publish, however, the swf does not play in Safari at all, and will only play in Firefox upon hitting "refresh." After this, the swf will load and play just fine, UNLESS YOU CLEAR YOUR HISTORY, at which point the same problem appears: you see nothing but a black, blank box.
"Yeah, I've heard that before, it's probably your javascript, blah blah blah..." Well, wait, just wait. The swf DOES load in both browsers. It just doesn't play. In order to get it to play, you have to right-click and select Play. I cannot, for the life of me, get it to just go ahead and play automatically when publishing.
But the REAL riddle of all this is that the swfs USED to play just fine until a few days ago. I've done nothing different in my publishing. I have rebuilt the page from scratch to no avail. And I haven't found anything on the internet that addresses this question directly. I've had a couple of developers try and mess with the code for me, and THEY can't get it to work, either. I am pretty much begging for any possible help on this, so thanks in advance.
I am a design-oriented user; I understand code only conceptually. If a code solution is the only solution, please be specific with where and how to implement the advice.

Nope... As I said, the swf USED to run just fine, and still does in certain browsers. I haven't messed with the SWF at all since that time, so there isn't any logical reason it should be different now.

Images in swf are not shown

Actually yes!
I'm not familiar with fuse, but I found the action in line one of your third frame (on the main timeline) dubious, and a quick search lead me to try "portfolio._brightness = 0;" as first line (and I commented out the original line) that worked.
My quess is that whatever template or original file you've been modifing/adjusting used some kind of color-fade in at that point, and you somehow broke it.
To me it looks ok without it, but you let me know if you need further guesswork from me.

My SWF is not reading a data file when off my machine

I have done a build out of Flash Builder 4.5.
My app reads an external XML in the local dir and displays a pie chart and then a bar chart for each of the selected pie wedges.
Works great for me.
But when I share the SWF and XML with co workers the SWF does not seem to read the XML for them.
Is there another file I need to provide them?
Or is there a build setting I have not set?

I tried this and it seems to work.
But a total standalone app is not what I am looking for.
I am producing this for researchers that would then want to add these visualizations
to their presentations and reports.
So the product needs to be able to be embeded into Word docs, Power Point and the like.
My goal is to produce an SWF that reads an external XML file for data to
then visualize on charts.
I have found that if I embed the data in the original mxml file it seems to work fine.
I only am having trouble when I start trying to read external data.
I guess I will resort to hard wiring the data into the SWF but it seems to not be right.

I spent a little time trying to figure out if there's some setting anywhere that might explain this, but couldn't find anything. That doesn't mean there isn't any--I just don't know of any.
I'm wondering if you could take a screen shot that shows the stage size versus the swf size when it plays? It will help to make sure the problem is what I think you have it explained it to be.
Does this happen in all files you create or is it occuring just in one particular file? What version of Flash are you using? If you can make your file available maybe someone can see if the problem remains when they open it--possibly even track down some cause. I am unable to open CS4 files (don't have it), but if it's an earlier version I can take a look.
If you are using CS4, have you updated it to the latest release (10.0.2, I believe)? There were numerous bugs when CS4 was released, though I don't know if this would be one of them.

SWF file not working properly in Explorer

I have made a kind of slide show showing jpg images loaded
from the web in an swf file, and it will not work properly. It is
my first .swf application, and I am using the free downloadable
FlashObject.js to load the swf into the browser. The problem is
that it sometimes loads perfectly, while other times it will not
work at all! It is not the paths, because I have tried setting the
images in the same directory as the swf, and not importing the
image names thru flashVars. What drives me mad is that it works
consistently in Explorer, the first time I load it, and the first
time after I have cleared the temporary internet files. Otherwise
it will not load at all. In Firefox however, if randomly fails to
load about one time out of ten or something like that. The code is
compiled using the free downloadable compiler. Anyone have any idea
what may be wrong?

Set publish settings to FLASH 8.
Never use FLASH 9 with Actionsscript 3... This adds a lot of instability.
1 of these swfs in a project could kill it.
I render SWF at 30fps at 1920x1080 then into AE, then scale down to SD wide screen resolution 720x480 16x9.. set scale to 45.5 x 44.5 percent.
I output final animation at Quicktime ANIMATION 100 millions of colors... 1.21 (16x9)audio added at 48k
I have hundreds of hours trying to make this work reliably and finally I got the mix.
Then I take QT to Premiere for final edit, audio and titles.
