Return defective unit

I've got a replacement for my defective printer and now I need to return the defective unit to HP.
Customer Service said they will send along the return waybill with the replacement but I found only the new printer. 
May I know how to return the defective printer to HP?

    I wonder if anyone knows what Apple’s official policy is on replacing defective units not bought from an Apple store? The unit has been discovered to be defective and has been repaired multiple times. Some things on the MBP are also un-repairable.

    If you live in California there are some specific laws that apply. See below. This language was included in an email from Apple regarding a recent mail in repair.
    If NOTICE TO CALIFORNIA CONSUMERS
    1. An estimate for repairs, as required (section 9844 of the California Business and Professions Code), shall be given to the customer by the service dealer in writing. The service dealer may not charge for work done or parts supplied in excess of the estimate without the prior consent of the customer. Where provided in writing the service dealer may charge a reasonable fee for services provided in determining the nature of the malfunction in preparation of a written estimate for repair. For information, contact the Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair, Department of Consumer Affairs, Sacramento, CA 95814.
    2. A buyer of this product in California has the right to have this product serviced and repaired during the warranty period. The warranty period will be extended for the number of whole days that the product has been out of the buyer's hands for warranty repairs. If a defect exists during the warranty period, the warranty will not expire until the defect has been fixed. The warranty period also will be extended if the warranty repairs have not been performed due to delays caused by circumstances beyond the control of the buyer, or if the warranty repairs did not remedy the defect and the buyer notifies the manufacturer or seller of the failure of the repairs within 60 days after they were completed. +If, after a reasonable number of attempts, the defect has not been fixed, the buyer may return this product for a replacement or a refund+ subject, in either case, to deduction of a reasonable charge for usage. The time extension does not affect the protection or remedies the buyer has under other laws.
    I am not sure what constitutes a "reasonable number of attempts" for a repair.
    I am not sure what the laws are in other states. I purchased mine when I lived in California, but live in Chicago now.

  • Apple policy regarding defect unit

    Sorry if I post this to the wrong forum. I don't know which is the correct room for this. If anybody have the contact info, really appreciate if you can inform me.
    I bought Mac Book Pro 17’ three weeks ago.
    When I tried to use for the 1st time, I found that the display has defect on it. I turned on the computer, found there was a vertical line in the middle of the screen. I immediately sent it back to the shop and asked for replacement. Unfortunatelly the shop said that they could not replace the defect unit, they would send it to service centre and they would replace the display with the new one. I have to wait for about three weeks till they called me and told me that they have fixed the display. My question : Why I could not get replacement for the computer I just bought and found it was defect for the 1st time I use ? I didn’t even fill my profile yet when I sent the computer back to the shop. I was told this procedure is Apple’s policy. For me, this is quite ridiculous, I bought the new Mac Book Pro and hope I can use it immediately, but the shop gave me the defect unit and I have to wait three weeks before I can use the computer. Lucky me,I have another computer so this was not disturb my work. But what if I didn’t have one ? I faced the similar situation some years ago with HP, they immediately replace the defect unit with the completely new unit. Why Apple can not do the same ?

    Yes, I bought it from reseller. I have no idea if the policy is different between buying from reseller and directly from Apple. My expreience with another brand, I get replacement for DOA unit altough I bought from a small shop and I didn't have any deal with them before.
    If anyone from Apple read this, really appreciate if you can explain about this. I just need to know, if this policy came from Apple what is the reason ? but if this is because the reseller violate Apple policy, I will be gladly inform Apple the detail reseller name so Apple can warn them. This is just to protect other customer in the future.

  • Not able to create STO with serial assignment for returning defective goods

    Hi all,
    I am facing problem while creating STO (641 movement) for returning defective engines which are manufactured at client plant.
    The actual problem is:
    My client manufactures engine with serial no. profile attached.The steps which is followed is (all the movements are reflected in Equipment master ie03 )
    1. They create Stock using Assy. Back flush (131 movement)
    2. They do Sloc transfer using 311 movement.
    3. They send the engines to other plant by raising STO (641 movement)
    4. The Receiving Plant is doing GR (101 movement) using Tcode migo and while doing GR they delete the Serial no attached to the particular engine against material manually.
    5. Everything was going fine till some days before some engines were found defective, now they want to raise return STO against the sending plant to send back those defective engines.
    I had simulated the same case in QA client, but after GR when i am trying to raise return STO by attaching serial no. it is throwing error like check Equipment status i had tried all one but nothing worked.
    Your fast and reliable solutions needed.

    For converting PR to PO in the configuration you need to first set up which PR Document Type can be converted to which PO type.
    You can check if the PR Doc type is assigned to PO doc type here
    SPRO-IMG-Materials Management-Purchasing-Purchase Order(Purchase requisition)-Define Document Types
    And if you need to prevent the referencing of PR for PO creation then you assign parameter EFB to the user role. This is done by BASIS.
    You can whether your role has been assigned to any of the parameters. Ask you basis team to find this out .Tell the basis team your User ID and ask them which Parameter is assigned to your role. Give them the following configuration path if need

  • Full Battery Drain Overnight while Powered Off. -Defective Unit or?

    I bought a new iPod Classic 80gb over the weekend and had charged it the same day via the included USB cable... Powered it off in the evening before going to bed by holding the play/pause button until the screen went black and I wake up the next morning to find that the battery is completely drained and the unit won't power up until its charged again.
    Ok, so I figure this might just have been a fluke occurrence and that maybe I did something wrong in turning it off- but the EXACT same thing happened to me again this morning after doing a full charge just the previous night. I powered it off by holding play/pause as soon as it finished charging. Then I get into my car this morning ready to listen to some music on my commute and I get a message saying the battery is completely drained and it needs to be recharged...
    How this has happened twice in 4 days I don't know, but hopefully someone may have an idea or might be experiencing the same thing? Am I doing something wrong? I haven't loaded anything other than music onto it and this has happened twice already since I bought it just a few days ago.
    There is no video on it whatsoever and the battery has drained from 100% to 0% in a matter of 6 hours, while powered off, on two separate occasions.
    I'd hate to think I just wasted $260+ dollars on a dud piece of equipment but if this persists I'll be returning it by week's end as it looks to be defective.

    I bought Ipod Nano 2G and have the same problem, Charge 4 hours, then, when I use it , Ipod suddenly restart and the battery drains near to 98% of capacity, or when I power off the nano after use it, next morning or severals hours later, the battery is completly drain, and Ipod doesn't response, just response until I connect to USB port of my Computer or ITrip, and show the "extremely battery low message".
    I use my ipod only in my car with my iTrip car, but some times y use it for some Long travels in plane, its works ok, but some days ago ( near to sept. /8 ) start with this failures.
    Here some of my Hipotesis, It's may be related with the new software version 1.3.1 ? its install some days ago trought Itunes.
    If the problem is the software? some one know if exist some software to downgrade the software from 1.3.1 to older version?
    I found some things about this procedure , but only works to 1.2

  • I have recently upgraded to Maverick and when the Macbook rebooted I got a message saying the HHD Disck was corrupt and to return the unit to store, this unit is 6 moths old

    The laptop was set to auto upgrade or decided to download Maverick and when prompted to reboot it failed to come back on. It simply displayed a message saying that the HDD was corrupt and the unit should be returned to the Apple Store.

    Thanks for the reply, the macbook won't boot up past the message on screen so I can't reload an older OS system or delete or for that matter do anything with it?

  • Receipt and card were in stolen wallet.. Unable to return defective item in-store??

    I purchased a pair of bluetooth headphones from a local bestbuy (In-store).  They turned out to be defective and static-y and I need to return them.  The catch is between the time of purchase (about a week ago), my wallet was stolen, which contained both the debit card that was used in the purchase and the receipt for the item.  I took the item back into the original store, and after some discussion they said they could not accept a return because I did not have the original card used in the transaction.  I did have a replacement card already, which is linked to the same account, but the 16-digit number obviously is different than it was.
    Getting my wallet stolen was not my fault, and I think it would be ridiculous to be stuck with headphones that were sold defective to me.  What can I do or say to get best-buy to accept my return?? I would even accept store credit at this point.  I have been attempting to locate the numbers from the old card as they said they could look up the purchase history with that information, but I am not having much luck there.  
    Also, how can they not have a record of my purchase under my name, phone number, or scan of the barcode on the item?  What did they take that information for if they arent using it for transaction records???

    Hello there cliMAKtic-
    I don’t know a guy that doesn’t live in total fear of having their wallet stolen and having to go through all the hassles when it happens.  After all, besides fashion, why else would there be chain wallets?
    All kidding aside, I can only imagine how much of a pain it must have been to have your wallet stolen and not being able to return your headphones because you no longer had the receipt certainly didn’t help.  That being said, Best Buy does require a receipt be present for all return and exchanges per our Return/Exchange Promise found here.  However, we generally should be able to help you locate your purchase depending on what information you can provide us.  Debit card purchases usually can be found, so I’m surprised the associate you spoke with at the store wasn’t able to locate it.
    In the end, it sounds like the advice that autotech and RealGeorge gave you helped out and you were able to get your product returned.  I’m glad to hear that everything worked out.

  • Returned Defective Phone. Shows delivered. My account is being charged for non returned phone.

    I have called Verizon over and over again and it seems that your representatives get my story wrong every time. I returned a defective phone to your warehouse in Fort Worth, TX and it was delivered on August 26th 2014. I have called numerous times and provided the tracking info many times and I am still getting messages that a fee has been applied to my account.
    I have doneseek  some research on the internet and it seems that your company is doing this to many of your customers. If this is not resolved and I am charged for a phone that has been returned, I will seek legal help and contact the news. I refuse to pay $599 for a phone I returned.

    My sons phone was defective got a replacement from verizon.  Followed directions and was returned to Fort Worth Texas.   On November 3 2014   Was sent text on Nov 14  I was going to be charged if not returned.  Called they began a "ticket" to rectify the situation.   Today 12/27 spent over 3 hours.  Listening to someone tell me no mind you this is the third supervisor.  It is not Verizon's fault or responsibility until the phone is checked in.  And a refund can not be issued until it is.    We have begun the process AGAIN but that was only a few hours ago what did they expect them
    To do.   So this has been going on for 2 months.   The proper ticket was only issued today.  again not their fault.  Who's fault is it?   This is insane.!   $449 is not chump change.  Did it ever occur to verizon to change procedure?!   How many customers have been fed up and just paid this?!

  • Returned Defected iPhone but Verizon cannot locate it in the factory?

    On January 14th 2013, my iPhone 5 top button stopped functioning. Received replacement two days later. I then packaged and returned old iPhone with the return label provided by Verizon on January 19th 2013. Tracking number states factory received the package in January 29th 2013. On February 27th 2013, Verizon reports “Equipment charge” for $749.99 Device not returned. After a two months of calling each week and talking to numerous representatives Verizon told me that the factory is saying that the iPhone was never received and they could not locate the device but the $749.99 charge still stands. Verizon lost the iPhone and/or it was misplaced in factory. Verizon states the iPhone was never returned. Tracking Number was not recorded and neither was the phone’s IMEI number on file. If I did not keep all the documents then I would not have any proof of the device was shipped back and or even EXISTED!

    I hate to say this but do not let this continue with verizon. Go to small claims court and have them served for the full amount they are saying you owe. Add in the court filing fees, time loss from work, postage costs etc. in the meantime send a written dispute to the address on your bill send it Certified Return Receipt and tell verizon you have proof of delivery as your dispute. Pay only the portion of your bill that is not in dispute. By federal and state laws they cannot report you as deliquent nor can they report you late to the credit bureaus. They also cannot harass you for payment of the disputed amount. if they call and send letters after your dispute is received you can ask for three times the amount they claim you owe for violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. And there are state laws that give you rights. Add the costs of the letters and other real costs to the small claims filing.  Verizon will call and settle. unless its settled via written agreement with all charges removed I personally would go to court anyway. Do not arbitrate under any circumstances.

  • Firmware bug or defective unit?

    I have the 60GB video iPod. Sound check does not function when using the dock connector, i.e. plugged into my Belkin Autokit or a Kensington SoundDock. However, it functions as intended when used with the headphone jack. I previously used a 4G iPod, and sound check did function with the dock connector using those same products.
    I am wondering if this could be:
    a) a compatibility issue between the 5G connector and the older accessories
    b) a firmware issue (I am using the 10-12-05 updater)
    c) a bug in the 5G units
    d) a bad unit (i.e. mine only)
    If there is someone out there who has the same setup and could test this, it would help me. I could eliminate (a), (b), and (c) if yours works, and then I would try an exchange of my unit. The way I tested was to choose a song that had a significant change in volume with sound check on vs. off with the headphones, and then try the same song through the line out (dock).

    I have been able to confirm that this is a bug in the 5G, i.e. it effects all units.
    You should try switching Soundcheck on and off with several different selections using headphones. I am sure you will find one fairly quickly that exhibits a large change in volume. You don't need to do anything special to use Soundcheck other than turn it on. Itunes places the soundcheck data in the tag automatically when you add the selection to the library.

    It shows Aaron Hillegass' book online, even though the image they show is for the second edition. When I went to my third edition book, I found that, that chapter is not in the third edition, not quite sure what has happened.

  • Returned Defective Phone and Warehouse Cannot Find It

    Hello, my name is Scott, a long time customer of verizon for about 12 years. I am currently on a family plan with 4 phones, myself, my mother, sister, and step-dad who is the primary account holder
    Here is my issue. I preordered the Samsung Galaxy S3 which I thought was a great idea since there was so much hype about the phone. I ordered it over the phone with my personal credit card. I received it on a Monday and by Wednesday it was giving me issues. It was freezing up and I couldn't even use it. By Friday I called the 800 number after going to a store to resolve the issue unsuccessfully. They immediately sent a new phone to my address and charged my account the equipment fee of $212. Once I got the phone I think on Tuesday I immediately sent the phone back with the FEDEX label as instructed.
    With my new phone and the original phone in the mail to Texas my new phone began to give me the same trouble. I decided to give up on the Galaxy and returned the 2nd phone to a local store here in Charlotte, NC. They gave me a FULL refund with no problem including the cost of the phone, tax, and my upgrade fee. I was pretty happy with that. At that point I went back to my original phone (droid razr).
    Here is where the problems start. The original phone I mailed back to you guys w/ the fed ex tracking was delivered to you guys on August 24th 2012  The charge for showed up on our bill right away. My mother who pays the bill every month directly out of her bank account paid it on August 1st. Weeks went by and I heard nothing. Since then I have called you customer service line at least 12 times maybe more. Starting 2 weeks ago I was told that they would be doing an investigation and contacting the warehouse to determine where the phone was and why I would not be credited.  I have no idea why she gave me that or what she did because I never heard back from her. When I called to check on it, the person started a new claim and never did anything with my original number. He then assured me he was putting another claim in and that he would call me back within 24 hours, and that he was very good at return calls. I never heard back from him after about 4 days. I called several other times to track progress and nothing has happened. I now have 3 people who have promised to call me back and I haven't gotten one call. I am wondering if it is just lost in the warehouse because each .
    All I want is my account to be refunded the equipment charges, and my upgrade to be re-issued. I hope one of you can help me in doing this, because calling or trying to wait on customer service is just becoming a nightmare. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Best things to have in this situation is a receipt of the shipment of the returned device.
    Do you have it? If so go to a Fedex office and file an insurance claim.
    If you don't have this..
    IF your device tracks anywhere at all on USPS or FedEx's website call customer service and have them submit an ITTS ticket for a lost shipment. If your rep does not do this get another rep on the line. If they have already submitted a CLNR NON RETURN form then you either need the receipt of the shipment or need it to track on the carriers website.

    If Apple does make an announcement (some have been told by Apple Store staff they will soon) then what happens? Which would be easier for Apple to manage a mail in exchange program or an in store exchange?
    I imagine they will extend past the 14 day grace period for exchanges, but they will probably require units to be mailed in to honor this. Also, if they end up doing a retail recall of 37 units then there is going to be a shortage as right now there seems to be more week 37 units in stock than anything else (imagine that
    The window for being able to just walk into an Apple Store with deflective 37 and walk out with a newer 38 model in hand may be closing quickly.

    What I mean is that we really don't know what the distribution channel is from the point the units leave the factory in China until they arrive at retail stores. The fact that Apple Stores are still receiving week 37 units from the warehouse tells me that they are depending on this supply to help meet demand and that the week 38 and 39 models may take some time to make there way in.
    Speaking only for my local Apple Store I saw the clerk sort through about seven week 37 models and he only had two week 38 units. These were all new arrivals as they did not have any in stock two days ago. So if a recall came tomorrow and they had to send back all week 37 units they would likely go from having the units in stock to a sold out until new shipment arrived, so that's what I mean.
