Says another user logged on? HELP!!

Since the day I got my ipod it doesn't always show up on itunes.but I finally got that to work and down loaded songs. and now again it doesnt show up once I plug it in and ALSO now it says "Another user on this computer is using the iPod sowftware,so iTunes is unable to communicate with this iPod.Please ask the other user to log out." but the main thing about that is i am the only user on this computer that is using iPod on here and only have the iTunes window open...what is suggested i do?

1. Close iTunes.
2. Open Task Manager by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ESC.
3. Click the Processes tab.
4. Find iPodService.exe. Click it.
5. Click End Process.
6. Select Yes to the "are you sure?" dialog.
7. Close Task Manager.
8. Start iTunes.
Problem gone.
This problem occurs from using Fast User Switching in Windows XP. Avoid using Fast User Switching and it shouldn't happen again. But the above procedure will fix it every time.

  • Itunes says Another user is using the ipod software

When I connect my iPod which has only been owned for a week to my PC, it says that another user on the computer is connected to the Ipod software. This is incorrect. I have reset the IPod, but still cannot make the iPod talk to the PC. Help!!!

As Peeble said, Thomas & Ronnie, this sounds like "fast user switching" is enabled in XP. iTunes & fast user do not get along. See the following link for troubleshooting instructions.

  • Windows 2008 R2 TS VPN connection closed when another user logs in

    Hi.
    I have a W 2008 R2 Ent. server with TS
I have VPN on the TS configured with a L2TP/Ipsec connection to connect to a customer site
Users will remote into the server, and make a VPN connection (click on shortcut to start VPN) and access the customer's site. This has worked OK for 2 years often with several users logged into the TS via RDP.
Recently users are encountering this problem: User A logs into the TS, makes VPN connection, accesses customer site. User B logs into the TS, user A's VPN connection is broken immediately. It seems to happen every time - not sporadic.
Can I get some suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The error which you are facing is because of Event Id 20226 (RAS connection termination).
    Error 831 (ERROR_FAST_USER_SWITCH)
The connection was terminated because user switch happened.
There are multiple login sessions on the user's computer. The user switched from a login session with an active RAS connection to another session. This resulted in the termination of the connection.
For this you can check that you can limit the connection and tried to switch back the original session and make all new connection again. Please refer “Event ID
20226 — RAS Connection Termination” for more details.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • ITunes says another user has it open - but I am the only user on this Win7 box

    Hello!
Recently, my iTunes will periodically say that it can't open because another user has it open. However, there is only one user account on this Win7 machine. If I restart the machine, the problem will sometimes go away, but will return. I have re-installed iTunes, and that has not fixed the problem. When I get this error message, I go to the task manager and it says there is only one user on the machine and "itunes.exe" is not on the list of running processes. ("ituneshelper.exe" is running, and I have stopped that process - but no effect on the problem.)
I have seen mention of this problem when using "fast user switching" in Windows 7, but there is only one user account on this machine. I am not switching between users.
    iTunes: 10.3.1.55
    OS: Windows 7 (64 bit)
    Please advise! Thank you.
    Regards,
    Brad

Do you still get that after restarting the PC?

  • Firefax hangs in remote desktop when another user logs in on the console

When I work with remote desktop on a windows 7 pc I could always use firefox without any problem, even when someone else was logged in on the same windows 7 machine. Siince the update of firefox to version 13, ff hangs in the remote desktop session as soon as someone else logs in on the wndows 7 console.

To be specific, this problem occurs in a multiple concurrent user configuration (=hack), where the RDC user and console users are simultaneous users. Firefox will hang, using 50% of the CPU. As soon as the RDC user walks over to the console and switches to that user the hang is released. The behavior is new to v13 and is highly reproducible.

During installation of XE you was prompted for password for users SYSTEM and SYS.
For the first time log in into web interface (APEX) use username SYSTEM and password you typed during install.
After that you should unlock user HR account to be able to start with building your first APEX demo application.

  • Error report help! ("another user...")

We have two Ipod users on the same PC... (DELL w/ Windows XP). We are getting the error message:
"Another user on this computer is using the Ipod software, so ITunes is unable to communicate with this Ipod. Please ask the other user to log out"
We don't believe that there is another user logged on...
We re-boot and log onto the music store, but the Itunes still will not acknowledge the Ipod nano we have plugged in to the USB port.
    Any tips?

    Close iTunes.
    Open the Task Manager.
    Select the Processes tab.

  • Another user is using iPod Software.....

I'm trying to get more songs on my iPod and when I connect it and iTunes starts running a note pops up and says:
"Another user on this computer is using the iPod Software, so iTunes is unable to communicate with this iPod. Please ask the other user to log out." I checked and nobody else on the computer is using iTunes. Does anybody know what I am supposed to do or what this means? I cannot get anything about/on my iPod on iTunes... please help

    Try restarting your computer.
This is NOT the kind of help that I find valuable. Restarting the machine is the
last thing I want to do! Is this a bug in the iTunes? Is it a sequence problem? i.e. should you plug in iPod, then start iTunes? Somebody has to have a better answer.

  • "The file [name of file] may have been changed by another user since you last saved it." Issue affects both network and local files.

When a certain user saves a file in Excel 2010, she gets a message: "The file <name of file> may have been changed by another user since you last saved it."  She can choose to save as another file or overwrite with her changes.
This just started happening a week or so ago.  She was concerned that someone else was accessing her files, but we did several tests that opened, made a change and saved in a matter of seconds, and she still gets the message.  It happens on
most files, but not all – both network and local.
We already tried the QFE_Saskatchewan registry fix.  I also checked the file server for Services for Macintosh.

You may be confused by the error in Excel saying “another user”. Actually Excel cannot tell who (the real human) is editing the file. Based on my research the No.1 possibility of the error is KB2626998.
2626998  Connection to a network document is lost in the 2007 Office system or in Office 2010 after the computer resumes from standby
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2626998
For Excel 2010, follow these steps:
    a.  Click Start , click Run , type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK .
    b.  Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Options
    c.  On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click Dword Value .
    d.  Type NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds , and then press Enter.
    e.  Right-click NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds , and then click Modify .
    f.  In the Value data box, click Decimal , type a number value, and then click OK .
Note This registry subkey sets the time, in seconds, that Excel waits for the network to resume. For example, if you type 15 for the number value, Excel waits 15 seconds for the network to resume. You might have to do some tests in your own environment to
determine an appropriate value. You may have to try multiple numbers.
    g.  Locate and then select the following registry subkey.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\office\14.0\common\Internet
    h.  Repeat step 2C through step 2F again. Reuse the same value that you used previously.
    i.  Exit Registry Editor.
Feel free to post back. Thanks.
    Cheers,
