Scanning with the pixma mg8220

Are there any online videos that show how to scan photos with the pixma mg8220?  I am finding the written instructions overwhelming.
Thanks.

Hi rustydusty,
It doesn't appear that we have a video with instructions on scanning photos with your PIXMA MG8220.  But that is a great suggestions!
If you are using the MP Navigator EX application, the process is as simple as selecting Photos/Documents and following the instructions in the software.  We also have an excellent article available on our Knowledge Base that will guide you through this process:  Scan using MP Navigator EX.

  • I can no longer print PDF files that were scanned with the very same MX479 on Windows XP, SP3

I can no longer print PDF files that were scanned with the very same MX479 All-in-One.
I have an (obsolete) Windows XP, SP3 computer.  Obviously, no updates from Microsoft
have occurred that might have impacted my Canon Pixma MX479.
When I attempt to send 1 or more pages from a PDF file to the printer, I don't even get the
Canon PIXMA popup that would allow me to cancel the print job.
Yet the Print Queue icon appears in the lower right corner of my monitor.
If I view the Print Queue, the print queue shows "spooling" and does nothing more.
If I attempt to CANCEL the print job in the Print Queue, it simply changes to "deleting -
    spooling".
I cannot cancel the print job that shows NOT RESPONDING via Task Manager, either.
In fact, the only way the Print Queue icon disappears is if I totally reboot my computer!
"Luckily", I can still print e-mails, Word documents, and even my downloaded PDF of my
    bank statement.
So, I was thinking that it was *only* PIXMA'S OWN SCANNED PDFS that could not be
printed ON THE SAME PIXMA 479.
However, I have since realized that I also cannot print USPS Signature Proof of Delivery
PDFs that I received from USPS via e-mail.
So why can I print *some* PDF files, but not *all* PDF files, like I previously could do?
THESE SCANS ARE OF LEGAL DOCUMENTS, SO I WILL LIKELY HAVE TO E-MAIL
THE REQUISITE, PREVIOUSLY SCANNED PDFS TO FEDEX TO PAY FOR *THEM*
    TO PRINT THEM.
NOTE: I *have* tried turning the PIXMA off, unplugging it, rebooting the computer, plugging
the PIXM in and restarting the PIXMA - still no ability to print PIXMA-scanned PDFs.
And, I find it very strange that e-mails, Word documents, and some other PDFs print with
no problem "around" "NOT RESPONDING" PIXMA print jobs.
I have owned Canon printers for years, including the MX420, and the MX340.

There may be some security issues related to the USPS PDFs.

I can't help with the scan/print problem. You seem to have done everything I would try.
I don't know if maybe using a registry cleaner would help.

  • Using Image Capture to scan with Canon Pixma MX700

I previously had trouble connecting my Canon Pixma MX700 to my MBP, but soon figured out that I needed a new high speed USB 2.0 cable, versus the old one I was trying to use it with. Doh!
So now it prints without any trouble at all, and I know that all its features - printing, scanning, fax, copier, are supposed to be compatible with Leopard.
However, I'm still having issues scanning. I Googled and found a comment somewhere that with this specific model, one has to use Image Capture for the scanning portion, instead of the Canon software.
Great, so that explained the problem I was having trying to figure out how to GET it to communicate at all with the MBP (downloaded the latest scanner driver from Canon with no result).
But it still will not scan with Image Capture. Communication is fine- the image is detected and I can see it perfectly in the Image Capture window, am able to change options, etc. Once I drag and select the image I want to scan and click the scan button, nothing happens. Or more specifically, the button will be click-able and for about two seconds it appears to be working (with the scan button substituted by a cancel button), but then the scan button will pop back up and nothing appears in the folder I specified the image to be saved to.
Now I'm completely stumped. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!!!

With my MacBook running Leopard, I had been able to successfully scan multiple images by pressing the MX7000 scan button and capturing the images with MP Navigator. The MX700 is networked over WiFi. Early on, I learned that it seemed to be more reliable to drive this process using the scan button, rather than trying to initiate the scan from the MP Navigator UI.
However, recently things stopped working, and after the first image was scanned, subsequent scans would fail, with MP Navigator complaining about not being able to connect to the scanner. This sounds similar to the problem described in the original posting.
I went to the Canon USA support site and downloaded /installed the latest versions of the MX700 scan driver (13.9.0) and MP Navigator (1.0.4), both available under the "Drivers and Downloads" section for the MX700 support page (be sure to select "Mac OS X" from the pull-down menu).
    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDeta ilTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=15651#DownloadDetailAct
The new updates seem to have solved the problem, and I can now scan multiple images one after the other. Again, I always initiate the scan from the button on the MX700, and always capture using MP Navigator, which has the really nice feature for creating and editing multi-page PDFs.

  • Can no longer scan with the HP Envy 4500

I can no longer scan documents with the HP Envy 4500.  When I try to scan it times out and I receive the following error message:
"Scanner communiocation cannot be established. Ensure your product is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly. If these conditions are correct, restart the product and try scanning again." I use a wireles connection to the HP Envy 4500 and it is working fine as I can print documents with no issues. I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it flagged the issue as a potential problem with the device driver. I uninstalled the HP software and downloaded the latest version from the HP site, installed it, and tha did not correct the problem. At this point, I am not sure what else to try and correct the problem. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Thanks for getting back to me
If the printer will not make copies, the unit may have a "Scanner Failure", unfortunately, and resetting the router, or computer troubleshooting would not make a difference.
You can try a power reset on the printer, to see if that will help:
    Power reset the printer:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
You can also try using a different wall outlet to see if this makes a difference.
If the problem continues, contact HP's Technical Support directly to discuss your printer replacement options, as you would require a new printer if there is a Scanner Failure.

  • Trouble connecting to an Epson XP-205 to scan with the button

Just bought an Epson Expression Home XP-205 Small-In-One printer/scanner. Works like a dream apart from one thing:
The quick scan 'button' feature fails to work.
If you're not familiar with this printer you won't know what I'm talking about. It allows you to scan a document imediately and save a copy to your computer. Saves the bother of printing or photocopying - a digital copy gets saved quickly to wherever you like on your computer. I would find this really useful, and I've been wresting with the printer and my iMac for hours to try and get it to work without success.
The computer recognises the printer on a wifi network without a problem. I can print and scan the conventional way, no problem. The one thing it won't do is let me set up the pair of buttons you need to press simultaneously to do a quick scan. I've tried setting up the Epson Event manager, but it fails to even recognise the scanner/printer's name correctly. The drop-down to select scanner just gives the choice "EPSON XP-200/ME301", which is not my model.
I have emailed Epson Technical Support who were no use at all, just sent me a link to some generic stuff which doesn't cover this particular model.
I feel it may be a cross-platform issue which either Epson or Apple need to fix. The driver probably works on a Windows PC, and nobody bothered to check it on the latest Mac OS.
I realise it is a very long shot that someone out there happens to be using this printer/scanner, and has come across AND solved this problem, but I live in hopes!
    Cheers

Hello jack Schmidt. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Hmm, metal walls do pose a problem with Wi-Fi reception that unfortunately does not affect all Macs (or PCs) the same way. One suggestion is to look at using a transceiver. One vendor, that I'm aware of, that provides these is hField Technologies, Inc., and they have a product called Wi-Fire that I think is what you may be looking for.

  • Printing a borderless 12x12 with the Pixma iX6520

Is there anyway to be able to make a borderless 12x12 print with the Canon Pixma i6520? I can easily print a borderless 13x19 - but it will not let me set up a borderless 12x12.

Hi lowagirl, When Borderless Printing mode is set, the page size setting is not available; borderless printing is limited to preset sizes for the selected media type.  More information on borderless printing can be found here.

    Welcome to the forums horizonjeana,
I understand you are unable to open your PDF's to view them after they scan however, the scan preview is working fine. I would suggest updating Adobe to see if that helps!
    Open Reader or Acrobat.
Choose Help - Check For Updates. If a new update is available, it installs automatically.
    Once installed, restart you computer.
Try to print the PDF again.

  • Wi-Fi problems with the Pixma Pro-100

The wi-fi connection for this printer only works for about a week, then i get a message saying the printer can't be found.  But what's odd is I can ping it's address and I can connect to it's web interface with the static IP that the printer has.  If I re-run the install with the CD it will work again.  It isn't a router or network problem.  If it was I wouldn't be able to ping it and connect to it's web page.  Seems like a port problem.   Are there known problems with wi-fi for this printer?
Why can't a standard TCP/IP port be used?

Hi Michael - I believe I know what the problem was.  My printer had a static IP address.  I believe it was 192.168.1.7
I have my router configured to start at 192.168.1.100 for DHCP address leases.
When I couldn't print I checked the printer, I discoverd the IP address for the printer was 192.168.1.126.  I used that address to bring up the admin web page for the printer.  It was still set to static.  How it ended up with 192.168.1.126 I don't know.
But anyway, I ran the setup CD again. Set the static IP address to 192.168.1.5, wrote it down, so I'm sure next time if it changes.  But I've tried it every day since and it's kept that address.  Normally I only use the printer a couple times a month.  So I keep it turned off.
    Thanks.

  • Scanning with a PIXMA 6420

How? I can't find instructions on how to scan to my computer via wireless. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I have a very similar setup. Except, I am using the MP500 PIXMA. I have only had the printer for only 4 days, but I know my wife did a scan a couple of hours after opening the box. I am not sure if she went through the Mac or used the menu on the printer because it appears to do a lot without the Mac itself. I can look into my scanner driver. Did you install with administrator rights?

  • Have an Epson workforce 600 worked fine until new router and Lion installed.  Now when I try and scan with the all in one I get a "POWER PC APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER SUPPORTED"  and my IMAC does not recognize that the Epson is a multi function printer.

Installed a new router.  Installed Lion. Have an Epson Workforce 600 multi function printer.  Two problems.
    1. I cannot get Lion to recognize that the Epson is a multi function printer.  There is no scan option on the "print/Scan" popup window.
    2. When I try and use the epson scan utility I get:  POWER PC APPLICATIONS ARE NOT LONGER SUPPORTED.
I have tried EPSON support with no real luck as they say it is Apple upgrades that are the problem.
Apple support was quite rude..said it was not their problem and that I should call epson.  Told the I did but it made no difference just got the same reply.
Have no idea what to do.....seems I cannot find out which multi-function printers Lion supports.

    daolbuzzard1 wrote:

Not to give you another run around, but you need new printer drivers from Epson for your printer so it works in Lion.
Now it could be that they are working on it, or that they could have decided not to provide new drivers in order for you to force upgrade.
The only thing a user can do is decide very carefully BEFORE upgrading to a newer Apple operating system, make sure that all their current hardware and software works and make a decision for themselves.
Since you upgraded to Lion, you can go back to Snow Leopard and your PPC software will work.
    Do you need instructions?
