Scripts in Unity Connection

Hi,
I have a Cisco CallManager 8.6 and a Cisco Unity Connection 8.6 on VMWare.I purchased the bundle (solution) Cisco BE 6000.
I did the integration of the Unity Connection with the CUCM via SIP (I also created a trunk SIP on CUCM to access CUC).
I would like to use the Unity Connection as AutoAttendant.
My question is this:
In Unity Connection, could I make scripts like I do in Cisco Unity Express with the CUE Editor?
I want to use the Unity Connection as AutoAttendant as follows:
- The incoming call goes to a Extension of Attendant Console. If the call is queued for 15 seconds the call is forwarded to Greeting of AutoAttendant Unity Connection saying "you will be attended shortly, please wait"
- After Greeting the call is again transfered to the Extension of Attendant Console. If the extension is available the call is answered but if the call is again queued for 15 the call is again forwarded to the Greeting of AutoAttendant Unity Connection saying "you will be attended shortly, please wait"
- After Greeting when the call is transfered to the Extension of Attendant Console. If the call continues queued for another 15 seconds the call is transfered to another Greeting of AutoAtendant Unity Connection saying "we apologize for the incovenience. Please call back in a few minutes"
In Unity Connection, could I make scripts like I do in Cisco Unity Express with the CUE Editor?
The only way I know to do this is with the CUE Editor or CCX Editor (Contact Center Express).
Is there any way to do this with the Unity Connection?
Thanks

No scripting or queueing with Unity Connection.  With BE 6000, you would need to leverage UCCX.

  • Scripting UCCX 9to Unity Connection 9 Directory Handler

My customer wants the voice enabled directory handler in Unity Connection 9.x but they do not want the "if you know your parties extension, you may dial it at any time" part.  My question is, is it possible to create a UCCX script to answer and provide a menu that, among other things, forwards the call to the directory handler but hits the 4 key to go directly to the "who do you want to call?" prompt so the caller never actually hears the part about knowing your parties extension?
Yes is seems petty and trivial however....

Sure. You an also build customer call handlers and directory handlers in Unity and record any prompt you want, so not sure why you would want to do it in UCCX unless you have some more advanced requirements, i.e. massage digits, lookup stuff via XML, DB, etc.

  • No T.37 fax support / Unity fax tools in Unity Connection?

I'm moving from Unity 7 to Unity Connection 9.1
In unity we used the T.37 inbound fax / unity fax (ie Fax is sent from router running .tcl scripts as e-mail + tiff into central mailbox. Unity moved fax into specific mailbox based on DNIS matching "faxId" setting on unity mailbox).
It appears as though this is not supported in Unity Connection, is this correct?
I am think the workaround is to set the destination mailbox directly on the dailpeer on the router by specifying an individual target mailbox as the smtp destination (rather than sending all to a central mailbox for unity fax service to move). The only downside to this appears to be the admin for setting new fax, or moving the mailbox delivery destination now relies on changing the SMTP address specified in the router config, instead of changing the faxid with the Unity/Unity Connection GUI.
Is this how others have addressed this situation? (I have a limited number of inbound faxes only, no outgoing - so wont be looking at full-blown fax server).
    Thanks.

    Hi
I know how T37 is, sometimes is really difficult to get support for this. On CUC is the integration is not supported by Cisco, but you can try this:
    - You can use T37 to send messages to CUC subscriber
    - To do it [email protected], on CUC subscriber. If the gateway IP has been added as the fax server in Unity Connection, it should show up in the users web inbox as a fax message since it has the TIFF attach.
But I'm not sure if this works and Cisco does not support it.

  • Unity Connection 8.6 accessing/uploading custom messages

I would like to create a custom auto attendant script / audio text application in Unity Connection but I am having difficulty understanding how I upload or add my custom pre recorded messages to unity connection so that I can access in the call handler configuration. In researching a different post, someone commented that you can upload via the "media bar" but I have yet to locate a 'media bar."

    Hi Tim,
    Here's the path;
Find List Call Handler > Edit > Greetings > Specified (Alternate,Standard,Closed etc.) >
Play/Record at bottom of page (this opens media Master) > Options > Open File > Browse

  • Converting Octel Contributor mailbox app to Unity/Unity Connection ?

I have one remaining voicemail application on an old Octel system that needs to be converted to Unity or Unity Connection.  The application is for customers to call into and listen to the status of pending jobs. The customer hears the message for each job, one after each other.  No sign in, passwords or key entry is needed by the customer. Typically there are 1 to 7 messages that the customer can listen to. Each job/message is added by an internal contributor mailbox via several different employees throughout the day.  It is not practical to re-record the previous messages when adding a new message.
Can a similar application be setup in Unity/Unity Connection?

    Hi James,
Can you please tell us what type of mailbox(s) you are using for this on
the Octel (Type 1, Type 31, Type 5??) And also, if you could, please
describe the actual method of being able to record only a single portion
of the script for new jobs? Are they all single mailboxes linked together
behind the scenes so that a user (contributor) can send to a specific
    portion/mailbox?
    Cheers!

  • Unity Connection Operator Transfer to UCCX Trigger

I have a customer with the following scenario...
A caller calls (either directly or through transfer) to a personal line, and is transferred to voicemail.
The '0' option is set to transfer to Operator on the Unity Connections system.
They want the caller to be transferred to the UCCX queue if they press '0'.
    Here is what is configured:
The Operator Call Handler has Transfer Rules set to transfer to Extension (2504) and Release to Switch.
2504-Internal is a Translation Pattern to 5200-IPCC which is the UCCX Trigger.
    Here is what happens:
I call the personal line, and get diverted to Voicemail.
I begin hearing the personal greeting, and press '0'.
I hear the 'Please wait while I transfer your call' prompt'.
I hear the initial prompt of the Call Center script.
I begin hearing the in queue hold message while waiting on an agent.
At this point we would think all is fine, and that things are working as desired.
However, some timeout occurs, and the call reverts to the Unity Connection handler.
I hear that 'The Operator is not available' and the call follows the Transfer Rule, and re-transfers me to the UCCX script.
Unless an agent can answer my call quickly enough, I do not remain in queue but bounce back to Unity and then transfer again to UCCX as a fresh call in queue.
Any thoughts on where to look, or a method to troubleshoot this scenario would be appreciated.

Does your AEF script impose a two-second delay prior to the Accept step when the call is coming from CXN? There is a JTAPI race condition that can cause this if the MIVR engine answers the call immediately vs. waiting two seconds or half a ring.

  • Unity connections 9.1 "port stuck with call"

I am seeing this message in the error log: %UC_UCEVNT-3-EvtMiuPortStuckWithCallinfoOnly:   for a number of  ports. . When I look into the log some of these ports have ben up for a month .
the message is cleared by restarting the port,
This stuck port problem has been around for a long time we had it in ver 7.1, is there any way of making a port reset if it has been stuck on a call for say 24 hours?

    Hello chrbradf1,
You can set the amount of time for the watchdog to generate a log when the port would be considered locked, but there is no automatic way of restarting them on the CUC perspective neither on CUCM, there is also no provisioning for Tcl scripting therefore you will have to restart them manually.
Watchdog is under: Cisco Unity Connection Administration> System Settings> Advanced> Telephonny> Port Watchdog Threshold in Minutes.
    Port Watchdog Threshold in Minutes
Enter the time, in minutes, that a port can be off hook before it is considered to be locked. When a port reaches this threshold, Cisco Unity Connection logs an error. To review errors, see the Real-Time Monitoring Tool. We recommend a setting greater than 30 minutes.
    Default setting: 240 minutes.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/gui_reference/guide/8xcucgrg110.html
Also consider that maximum time is 240000 minimum is 0 and value has to be integer.
    Examples:
Value specified (111111111) exceeds the maximum allowable value (24000).
Value specified (0.1111) is not an integer value
Value specified (-1111) is below the minimum allowable value (0).

  • Unity Connection 7 with overlapping extension

    Hello everybody,
I'm deploying a CUCM 7.1.3 + Unity Connecion 7.1.3 to a customer, and I have a doubt when using overlapping extension. As it's a large environment, he has overlapping extension number in his multiple sites. For example, both SiteA and SiteB have the extension range 8XXX. In CUCM I have configured some translations patterns, so that an user from SiteA should dial 118XXX in order to reach SiteB, and an user in SiteB should dial 218XXX in order to reach site A. And each site has its own line partition to extension numbers. And everything works fine...
But these users are all in the same Unity Connection Server. So I would have users from SiteA and SiteB with the same extension in Unity Connection, and I can't do that. What I know can do is to configure some partitions from SiteA and SiteB in CUC, and put each subscriber in one partition, right?
But when a user wants to reach the voice mail to get his messages, how Unity Connection knows from which location is he?
Please, anyone could advise me how can I proceed with this configuration?
    Thank you!!!

    Hello,
I workarounded my problem creating multiple VM Profiles, and assigning a diferent Voice Mail Box Mask for each. And in Unity connection I created a alternate extension for each user.
For example... the extension 6000 from SiteA has the VM Profile VM_SiteA, which has the voicemail box mask 11XXXX. And this user in Connection has the alternate extension 116000. And the extension 6000 from SiteB has the VM Profile VM_SiteB, which has the voicemail box mask 21XXXX, and this user has this number as alternate extension as well (216000)... It works fine like this.
But actually I haven't tested the MWI... If I have a translation pattern in CUCM that translates 11XXXX to XXXX (in partition from SiteA), and another 21XXXX to XXXX (in partition from SiteB), and configure the MWI extension in Connection to be 11XXXX and 21XXXX, will it work? Have anyone already tested this?
    Thank you very much!!!

  • Unity Connection integration with Outlook problem.

    Hello,
We deploy CUC 7.1 and we integrate it with MS exchange 2007 and outlook, and we perform the recommended configuration to make the voice mail message to be appeared in both Unity connection voice mail store and to be sent to exchange then appeared in outlook as inbox message, we perform that by choosing Accept and Rely option in Message actions tab.
The customer want when the message accessed from the outlook the MWI on turned to MWI off!!!!!
    How can i perform that?
    Thanks

    Hi Ahmed,
What you are wanting is not available with CUC 7.x "Accept and Relay"
In Cisco Unity Connection 7.1, you can use the accept and relay action to instruct Connection to both deliver each message of a certain type to the user mailbox and forward a copy of the message to the relay address. (This is sometimes referred to as "accept and forward.") This option may be useful for users who regularly use a device that accesses a separate server for messages, such as a handheld wireless device, and want easy access to voice messages both on the alternative device and through the Connection user interfaces. If you choose this option, the user receives two copies of each message. The copies are stored in different message stores, and any actions the user takes on the relayed copy are not reflected on the copy stored in the Connection message store.

    You will want to look into CUC 8.5;
New Features for Cisco Unity Connection Version 8.5
    • Unified messaging with Microsoft Exchange 2010:
    • Voice messages are synchronized with the Exchange inbox.
    • MWI and message status are synchronized.
    • Secure, private messages, mobile client, and calendar integration for Exchange 2010 are all supported.
    • You can enable unified messaging for specific users or all users.

  • Unity Connection Integration with CS 1000 and Meridian 81 - PIMG

I have a customer who have  (2) Nortel Meridian 81 and (1) CS1000  for their 3 locations along with Octal 350 servicing 2500 voicemail users today. Customer also has a  Cisco UCM in their network today which is servicing their wireless phone users.
UCM and CS1000 are networked together using Q.Sig trunks today. Customer is looking at replacing their Octal solution with a new Voice mail solution.
I was looking at integration documents for Unity Connection using PIMG.
In this  scenario, would I need 3 separate PIMG 's at the three remote sites and integrate it with Unity connection or Can I achieve this using just one PIMG at one of the sites, considering the three sites are trunked together using tie-trunks.

    Hi there,
Just to add a note to the great tips from Hailey (+5 Hailey!)
We are in the final stages of replacing our "old" Octel with Unity Connection, part of
which is integrated to our CS1000 and CUCM in a "Hybrid" deployment like yours
    Centralized Voice Messaging
Cisco Unity Connection supports centralized voice messaging through the phone system, which supports
various inter-phone system networking protocols including proprietary protocols such as Avaya DCS,
Nortel MCDN, or Siemens CorNet, and standards-based protocols such as QSIG or DPNSS. Note that
centralized voice messaging is a function of the phone system and its inter-phone system networking,
not voice mail. Connection will support centralized voice messaging as long as the phone system and its
inter-phone system networking are properly configured.

    Integration with Cisco Unity Connection
    Attachments:
    cucwithnortel.pdf (308.1 K)
Centralized voice messaging provides voice messaging services to all users in a networked phone system environment. Connection can be hosted on a message center PINX and provide voice messaging services to all users in an enterprise assuming the message center PINX and all user PINX phone systems are properly networked. For a centralized voice messaging configuration to exist, a suitable inter-phone system networking protocol must exist to deliver a minimum level of feature support, such as:•Message waiting indication (MWI).•Transfer, which ensures that the correct calling/called party ID is delivered to the voice messaging system.•Divert, which ensures that the correct calling/called party ID is delivered to the voice messaging system.Other features may be required depending on how the voice messaging system is to be used. For example, if it is also serving as an automated attendant, path-replacement is needed as this feature prevents calls from hair-pinning.

  • Voice Mail Ports Rejected in CUCM - Unity Connection

    Hi to all,
I have a CUCM v9.1 cluster (1 Pub and 2 Subs) with two device pools (DP_Site_A and DP_Site_B), each DP has a call manager group that has the Subscriber for each site as the Primary CUCM Server in order of registration: DP_Site_A -> CMGroup_A ( 1° Sub_A and 2° Sub_B) ,
    DP_Site_B -> CMGroup_B ( 1° Sub_B and 2° Sub_A).
The issue that I have is that when I configure the voice ports in the CUCM with either DP_Site_A or DP_Site_B I always get those ports as "Rejected" in the registration status BUT if i leave the DP for the voice ports as default they get registered and actually work fine with voice mails.
My Unity Connection is v9.1 too.
Any ideas about what can be causing this behavior??
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Alfonso,
Can you check these settings in CUC for the "Secondary" CUCM (Sub) server config
    to make sure the Subs are listed as part of the SCCP registration;
Step 32 On the Edit Servers page, do the following substeps if the Cisco Unified CM cluster has secondary servers. Otherwise, skip to Step 33.
    a. Under Cisco Unified Communications Manager Servers, click Add.
    b. Enter the following settings for the secondary Cisco Unified CM server and click Save.
    # Table 6-16     Settings for the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Servers
    # Field
    # Setting
    # Order
    # Enter the order of priority for the Cisco Unified CM server. The  lowest  number is the primary Cisco Unified CM server, the higher  numbers are  the secondary servers.
    # IP Address or Host Name
    # Enter the IP address (or host name) of the secondary Cisco Unified CM server.
    # Port
    # Enter the TCP port of the Cisco Unified CM server that you are   integrating with Cisco Unity Connection. We recommend that you use the   default setting.

  • Unity Connection Voice Mail Only- NO MWI template

I am deploying a site with 8,000 mailboxes.  4,000 of those users are voice mail only without a telephone and will NOT require MWI.
I can manually remove the MWI setting from each mailbox, but I am looking at either a BATCH CSV setting or a TEMPLATE that I can turn OFF mwi when creating the users.
    Any ideas?
    TIA

    Hi there,
This setting change is available via Bulk Edit
Bulk Edit> Messages> Disable MWI functionality for this user
Bulk Edit changed in 8.x from where it was accessed in 7.x.
Here's a clip that speaks to how this is run now. You first search and select all
    the users you want to change and then choose Bulk Edit;
To Edit User Account Information in Bulk Edit Mode (some editing from original > this example
is for Caller Input settings but you'll see the point)
Step 1 In Cisco Unity Connection Administration, on the Search Users page, check the applicable user check boxes, and select Bulk Edit.
If the user accounts that you want to edit in bulk do not all appear on  one Search page, check all applicable check boxes on the first page,  then go to the next page and check all applicable check boxes, and so  on, until you have selected all applicable users. Then select Bulk Edit.
Step 2 On the Edit Caller Input page, change settings as applicable.
Note The  Status message at the top of the Edit Caller Input page tells you how  many user accounts are being edited. Also note that the page is  populated only with the fields that you are allowed to edit in bulk  mode, and that the fields available for edit also depend on whether all  of the user accounts reside on the local server.
Step 3 If applicable, set the Bulk Edit Task Scheduling Fields to schedule the Bulk Edit operation for a later date and/or time.
    Step 4 Select Submit.
Step 5 If  applicable, continue to change settings for these user accounts on the  related pages available from the Edit menu. As you make changes on each  page, select Submit before going on to the next page to make additional changes.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/user_mac/guide/8xcucmac090.html#wp1049545
Try a couple of test users first to come up with the exact plan.
If you prefer you can also use Bulk Edit via .csv
    As a test here I tried the Bulk Edit and chose;
User with Voicemail > Users referenced in this CSV file > Next
This then allowed me to browse to an existing "basic" .csv that I had
used to create a test user recently when playing with BAT. In this .csv
I had one user named Bob Uncle with DN/ext 5126. So when I used this method
the Bulk Edit tool (smart puppy ) selected only Bob Uncle for my edit choices
and I was able to change the Disable MWI functionality for this user
Again, please try manipulating some test users to perfect
    your methodology.
I have attached the test .csv I used
    Cheers!

  • Unity Connection Voice Mail ports

    Hi experts
    I hava simple question.
I have a UCS M3BE server with 2 CPU, as per the link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/9x/supported_platforms/9xcucspl.html#wp810181 with 2 No's of CPU it supports only 100 ports per Virtual Machine and for the cluster it supports 200 ports.so in the CUCM Voice Mail Port Wizard i shld put figures 200 or 100??,
i think i shld put voice mail ports 100 on CUCM with name CiscoUM1-VI with 100 ports when selecting ports on CUC-publisher
then again creating voice mail ports 100 on CUCM with name CiscoUM2-VI with 100 ports when selecting ports on CUC-subscriber
    Thanks

    Hi Jack,
Can you try installing the cop file from the following link
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/netpro/collaboration-voice-video/unified-comm-application/blog/2013/04/17/unity-connection-911-unable-to-create-more-than-8-ports
Although this bug fix is for installations with one CPU you can give it a try.

  • Unity Connection Voice Mail Issue

    Hi,
I have a weird Unity Connection Voice Mail issue and would appriciate any help i can get. Many thanks in advance.
I have Unity connection 7.0 and CUCM 7.0 integrated in a lab enviroment and here is what happens.
When I place a call internally say from 2001 to 2002, things work as expected, 2002 rings and it goes to voicemail where I can leave voicemail and listen to it from 2002.
However, if I place call from the PSTN to the same number 2002 (or any other number in other sites etc) the call again rings in 2002 and goes to voicemail, unity cnx plays the greetings for 2002 and says record your message as usual. Everything up to point is fine, then when the time on the PSTN phone is showing around 14 seconds into the call unity starts playing, "to send this message press one", if I press one nothing happens.
I have rebuilt unity and cucm, even just configured the bare minimum in the lab and still getting the same result. I tried calling from E1 connection and T1 connection but with the same results.
I have run out of ideas...

Sounds like one way audio from PSTN to your Unity Connection, couple of things to check:
    1. ensure your protocols are bound properly on the GW, i.e. SIP/H323/MGCP
    2. Make sure IP routing is OK between Unity and the voice gateway

  • Jabber for Windows and Unity Connection Voice mail out of sync

    Hello all,
Now that Jabber is pretty much part of every install you begin to notice some trends. One trend that I have noticed happening across several of customers is complaints about Jabber and the Voicemail server getting out of sync. It’s never really been a wide spread issue but it has be noticed by several of my customers enough so that I’m reaching out to see if others are experiencing the same problem. Here are the symptoms, a person sitting at their desk they have a physical phone, and a windows PC running Jabber 4 Windows. They miss a call and the MWI lamp gets lit on the phone but not on Jabber. When you click on HELP / Show Connection status, you see all green checks, and Voicemail shows connected from Jabbers standpoint. When you exit the application and come back in, then it sync’s back up just fine. I have never seen it happen myself, but to be honest I’m never at my desk enough to even notice if my phone lamp is lit.
Anyway has anyone had similar issues? If so is there a fix?

    Symptom:
User logged in Jabber and do not log-off/sign-out for more than 24 hours and then jabber does not receive new voicemails from Unity Connection. User will be able to receive voicemails from other interfaces like Outlook, TUI but voicemails will not show up in Jabber.
    Conditions:
User does not sign out from jabber for more than 24 hours since last log on.
    Workaround:
Sign out from jabber at-least once a day and sign-in back so that subscription will not expire in Unity Connection database.
Voicemail does not sync if Jabber left logged in for more than 24 hours

Can be fixed, depends on releases, TAC offered me a fix in version 10.5(1)ES29
