Sensing a loss of connection without explicitly sending a message

First I need to know if I am even on the right forum since I don't have a clue whether the Sun Java System Message Queue and the Sun ONE Message Queue, v3.0.1 are the same animal. Since there was no forum for the Sun ONE Message Queue I'm assuming they are one and the same. If not let me know.
We are attempting to sense a loss of connection to the JMQ broker by attempting to create a session against an already established Connection object. The theory is that createSession will fail if the connection is down but it doesn't seem to be working. We don't want to have to explicitly send a message on the down connection to trigger an exception but if we absolutely have to we will. We are periodically checking the status of many connections and would prefer to not spend too much time at it. I also considered using Connection.start() to see if perhaps "re-starting" an established connection would generate an exception if the connection is down. If anyone knows how the pros at SUN do this, I would appreciate the knowledge very much.

Hi, did you get a proper answer to your question? We're also trying to detect loss of connection on the client side: shall we have to use the session creation or is there a way to sense the loss of the connection as soon as it happens? We've tried setting an exception listener on the connection, but that didn't help.
Thanks.

  • Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

    Hi,
I am using APEX version 4.2.1.00.08 with Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
I've developed an application, that was working fine till 3 days ago...
At the moment, I can log into the application but when I enter my ID/PW it takes me to my 1st page but then it runs for a mint or so (trying to load charts) and then generates following error message
    No data received
Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
interestingly, I haven't changed anything within the application
I've tried it with Chrome Version 27.0.1453.116 m and IE 8.0...
with IE 8.0, it shows I/O Error in place of my graphs and get's a pop up message that displays "Error - error unknown"
The only thing that I can recall doing differently is logging via remote desktop connection, but I've used remote desktop in the past as well and it worked.
    Please advice

  • Server dropped connection without sending the initial SMTP greeting

Whenever anyone tries to send email to addresses from the domain 'cwbank.com' they receive the error emessage:
connect to smtp.ab.tac.net[216.123.224.167]: server dropped connection without sending the initial SMTP greeting
If I use other mail servers, the message goes through without a hitch.
Prior to this week we could send email to this domain.
Port 25 is open on the receiving server (216.123.224.167).
A few weeks ago, we were 'blacklisted' because another server on the same subnet was spamming. And a few ISPs (Godaddy, 1and1, etc.) blacklisted the whole subnet instead of the offending IP. We don't seem to be having any more problems with getting RBL rejections anymore. Typically those error messages were returned as '550 RBL rejection' errors. I'm wondering if this might be related.
Any other thoughts on the subject?

Well, the other thing that could be happening is that the mail servers at these 4 IPs might have their own hardwired IP block on some range of IPs that you are in. We know that is not being done at their firewall (you can connect and get the greeting), but might be done with, for example, a postfix config that prohibits connections from certain IP ranges.
There's another possibility, namely, that they are picky about DNS config. Your IP of 68.150.192.151 seems to have a good reverse DNS PTR record that matches the SMTP HELO greeting when I telnet to your server:
    mail:~ admin$ telnet 68.150.192.151 25
    Trying 68.150.192.151...
    Connected to ns.boxclever.ca.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    220 mail.boxclever.ca ESMTP Postfix
    quit
    221 Bye
    Connection closed by foreign host.
    and, reverse DNS:

Maybe they won't talk to any server whose name given in the Reverse DNS PTR record doesn't have an A Record that matches. You might want to check that.

  • Intermittent loss of connection

For about a week now I have been suffering from a intermittent loss of connection to the internet the internet will be fine until it randomly decides to drop out. Usually I'll be surfing the website and go to navigate to another webpage when it times out and tells me it couldn't find the website in question. My games seems to be affected as well though it is more common for me to observe this in my browser the problem occurs in Firefox and I loaded Chrome as well one day and the problem appears there as well. I need some line quality tests with dslreports.com's line quality test and I did four of them they all reported intermittent packet loss the odd thing I noticed is in all four tests I did the same node suffered a varying amount of packet loss (ae-1-60.edge1.SanJose3.Level3.net) I have been trying to get some info on this server but I can't seem to find any info on it whatsoever I have included all four tests in the zip archive attached to this post.
I also did a fifth test which I included as well I did this test after resetting the router and did another test but it was much of the same. Please tell me how to troubleshoot this problem I am losing my mind and patience.

I've been having a simliar issue as well for about a month now where my internet drops out every now and then for several seconds and then comes back up. This only started happening after Hurricane Sandy in Staten Island, NY when my ONT had to be replaced after being flooded. Since then, I have already had my ONT replaced twice and was given a new REV I router and told to not send back my old REV D router which never had any problems before. I have even tried putting back the REV D router and I still kept losing internet every now and then. After multiple chats with Verizon, they seem to have pinpointed the problem to be a physical issue in my house. So, I tried connecting the REV I router directly to the ONT, via coax, and I still noticed the internet dropping. Looking at the router logs, I noticed the following entries every now and then (usually multiple times a day):

I setup syslog on the router which feeds it to the WallWatcher application and this is all the details I get duing the flap. I'm really stumped by this and can't figure out what the problem is. Could it be a bad PON card? I noticed that the logs show only the WAN Coax going down without the LAN Coax which leads me to believe in a faulty connection between the router and the ONT. I've already tried connecting both routers directly to the ONT to no avail. The only changes that I can think of since Sandy are the electrical outlets that were replaced. Could they be causing some kind of interference? I've tried running the coax with and without the ground block, but that didn't help either. The only thing that was not replaced since the first post-Sandy installation is the ONT battery system, only the battery itself was replaced once. Could that be it? Just to be clear, I have always been connected via coax and I have tried testing with different cables.

  • TCP connection error when sending MODBUS commands to WAGO 750-881 controller after 113655 bytes of data have been sent

    Hi all,
I am new to the world of labview and am attempting to build a VI which sends commands to a 750-881 WAGO controller at periodic intervals of 10ms.
To set each of the DO's of the WAGO at once I therefore attempt to send the Modbus fc15 command every 10ms using the standard Labview TCP write module.
When I run the VI it works for about a minute before I recieve an Error 56 message telling me the TCP connection has timed out. Thinking this strange, I decided to record the number of bytes sent via the TCP connection whilst running the program. In doing so I noticed that the connection broke after exactly 113655 Bytes of data had been sent each time.
Thinking that I may have been sending too many messages I increased the While-loop delay from 10ms to 20, 100 and 200 ms but the error remained. I also tried playing with the TCP connection timeout and the TCP write timeout but neither of these had any effect on the problem.
I cannot see why this error is occuring, as the program works perfectly up untill the 113655 Bytes mark.
I have attached a screenshot of the basic VI (simply showing a MODBUS command being sent every second) and of a more advanced VI (where I am able to control each DO of the WAGO manually by setting a frequency at which the DO should switch between ON and OFF).
If anybody has any ideas on where the problems lie, or what I could do to further debug the program this would be greatly appreciated.
    Solved!

    Hi ThiCop,
Yes the error occurs after exactly 113655 bytes every time. The timeout control I would like to use is 10ms, however even increasing this to 1s or 10s does not remove the error, which leads me to believe that this is not the issue (furthermore, not adding any delay to the while loop, thus letting it run at maximum speed, has shown that the TCP connection is able to send all 113655 bytes in under 3 seconds again pointing towards the timeout control not being the issue here).
I attempted Marco's suggestion but an having difficulty translating the string returned into a readable string, (rightnow the response given is "      -#   +   ").
As to your second suggestion, I implemented something similar where I created a sub VI to build a TCP connection, send a message and then close the connection. I now build each message and then send the string to this subVI which successfully sends the command to my application. Whilst not being the most elegant method of solving the issue, it has resolved the timeout problem meaning I am able to send as many commands as I want. So in that sense the problem has been solved.
If you still have tips on how to correctly read the TCP read output, I would however like to see if I could not get my first program to work as it is slightly more robust in terms of timing.
Modbus TCP RTU is a binary protocol, as you show in your Basic VI, where you format the data stream using byte values. So you have to interprete the returned answer accordingly with the Modbus RTU spec in hand. Now what is most likely happening is that the connection gets hung after a while since you do NOT read the data the device sends as response to your commands. The TCP/IP stack buffers those bytes and at some point the internal buffers overflow and the connection is blocked by the stack. So adding the TCP Read at strategic places (usually after each write) is the proper solution for this. Is there any reason that you didn't use the NI provided Modbus TCP library?

  • SbRIO-9612 unable to close a TCP connection without causing TCP failure

    Hello,
I'm working on a multi-server (sbRIO-9612's), multi-client (Windows PCs) application which uses the STM 2.0 libraries and LV2009 SP1.  The server listens on a UDP port for the client to send a message - once sent, the server opens the TCP connection to the client and all is well . . .
. . . until I added a "hearbeat" message to monitor for down connections.  Once the TCP connection has been extablished, the client PC sends a TCP message (a request for the number of clients connected) to the server sbRIO-9612 every 5 seconds - both the client and server are coded to close the connection if a message is not received within 10 seconds.  The client-side app works fine - if the TCP message is not returned in 10 seconds, the connection is closed and a new UDP message is sent to re-establish it.
The server-side is the problem - if no message is received in 10 seconds, the TCP connection is closed o.k. (no errors), but the server will no longer allow new TCP connections to be established unless it's rebooted.  It seems to work fine if I leave the non-communicating TCP connections open on the server-side, but I can see this leading to problems after several clients have disconnected without notifying the server properly.
Interestingly, if the client closes the TCP connection properly (via TCP Close in LV), the server detects it fine and there is no problem.
I'm allowing the operating system on both sides to select the TCP port to use.
Any help is greatly appriciated - thank you!
    Al

    Hi Al,
Thanks for the update -- I'm glad that you were able to find that the issue wasn't actually with the TCP VIs, and moreover that LabVIEW 2010 SP1 seems to have resolved the issue. I would still recommend combing through the code on the RT end to ensure that the LabVIEW 2010 SP1 upgrade really did 'fix' the underlying issue. It's somewhat strange that a version upgrade resolved TCP communication issues that you were having. I just want to be sure that the solution is a truly stable one.

  • MetaData Jco Connection without MsgSvr

    Hi all!
I have again a problem setting up the Jco Connections for the WebDynpro tutorial. Now, I'm able to create a JcoConnection for the application data, but none for the MetaData, because the IDes, I want to connect to, is not installed with a message server (in that case it really wouldn't make sense, as there is only one app server).
So, please, can anybody tell me, if there is a way to define a MetaData Jco Connection without load balancing?! Or give me a hint, how I can make that tutorial run?
    Thx in advance!
    Nick

    Hi Nicolas,
It is for load balancing purposes that message server is required for the creation of JCO metadata. When large volumes of users are accessing the metadata it becomes necessary that it should be load balanced.
Also using the transaction SMLG you will have to add the message server to the Public logon group. Then only you can create the metadata connection
Also check the services file for the entry sapms<SID> 3600/tcp
    Hope this helps you
    Regards

  • Can I upload PowerPoint directly into Connect without using Adobe Presenter?

I have a PowerPoint file (.ppt as well as .pptx) and the slides are fairly simple - mostly bullet point lists in Arial or Calibri font (nothing wild and crazy).  When I upload the content directly into the Connect envrionment, the formatting of the slides (in the share pod) is all wacky.  Instead of it sizing the slides to fit the share pod, the bullet points go down past the bottom of the pod and cannot be read.
I was told that the only solution to this is to purchase Adobe Presenter and publish my PowerPoint files (using Presenter) into Adobe Connect.  That is not an option for me at my company.  It seems like uploading a simple PowerPoint should be a basic feature of Connect without having to download/purchase Presenter licenses.  Maybe I'm wrong.  Below are a few images in case this is not making sense.  If anyone has advice, PLEASE let me know.  I cannot possibly using connect for virutal training if slides look the way they do below.  Thanks!
The first image is the PowerPoint slide
Here is what it looks like in the Share Pod:

    Thanks Robert,
I tried to ask Adobe for a short list of supported / unsupported fonts but the tech kept telling me he could not give me that information.  I thought I tried Arial to no avail but I can do so again.  Just reformatted everything in Garamond and it worked fine.
    Thank you again.

  • Error when reopen USB connection without physical unplugging USB connection

Using Labview 8.5 to communicate with an USB device based on AT91SAM7S64 controller.
I has written a labview application that talks to several units and it works good as long as i dont close the USB connection
I wants the application to start talking to all USB devices that are already connected, at the moment i must reconnect all USB connection every time I start the Vi.
If a try to reopen a closed USB connection I got an timeout error when I read data from the device
to illustrate the problem I made a dummy test program. (Added as Attachment as jpg and vi)
    Senario 1:
If i plug the USB connector into the computer and start the vi the first sequence works fine.
    The second sequence fails.
    Senario 2:
If i plug the USB connector into the computer and start the vi the first sequence works fine.
If i unplug and plug the USB connector between teh two sequences both works fine
    Senario 3
If I remove the VISA close from the first sequence.
If i plug the USB connector into the computer and start the vi the first sequence works fine.
both sequences works fine without needing to unplug the USB connector.
    Questions?
Does the VISA close command send a message to the USB device? can this be the reason for the need to replug the connection?
Does it exist a method to reopen a USB connection that has been closed?
All help is good help :-)

    Hi Again,
I have tried to recreate the issue when using multiple runs of the same program but this time I have been unable to.  Mine does manage to find the device again.
I have had a word with a few people and they have proposed a solution that would involve writing the references to the registry or a configuration file.  They suggest:
First Run: The program will look to the registery/file to try and find the references.  It wont find any so it will open the VISA references and write them to the registry. This should not close the references at the end of execution.
Run n : The program will look to the registry/file and find the references and use these for VISA operations.
First Run after Reboot: The program will look to the registry/file and find the references but will find that they are invalid so it will open new references and write these to registry for subsequent runs.
Functions for writing to the registry are under connectivity>>windows registry access VIs and have all the usual LabVIEW help files associated with them.
I hope this helps! let me know how it goes.

I have three iPads and one iPod and one iPhone.  How can I message between them without sending the message to all of them.  You send the message to your email address but all of them are set up under one account.

You can have a different receiving email in the Messages app on each device : Settings > Messages > Receive At . I'm not sure that there is a different way to have the message only go to one device.

  • I'm having issues with iMessage. It works fine on wifi and I receive messages as iMessage without issue in network or wifi. However as I send a message it starts as iMessage then says not delivered. Then sends as SMS since I have it enabled.

iMessage works on wifi without issue. However I receive messages on network but can't send. I send a message it starts sending as iMessage ten says it can't send. Then starts to send as SMS since it's enabled. I have reset network sertings, updated to ios7, etc and done about 3 othe suggested in order resets to get it to work and it still hasn't started working when I'm not on wifi. Any suggestions?
It's a iPhone 4S. I have two iPhones. One setup to receive iMessage just to its phone number. Therapeutic to receive to its phone and email. I wouldn't think that would be the issue as all 3 are separate. Bone the same going to both phones.
    Thanks for the help!!!

i am trying to connect to my friend's wifi, i have a very strong signal indicated on my ipad, but cannot connect to the internet.  Yesterday i connected without any problem, can anybody tell me why i cannot connect today?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Need help to Configure FTPS connection for File Sender Adapter

    Hi,
I want to Configure, FTPS connection (Secured Connection) for File Sender Adapter. Could anyone please guide me, what Information I require to configure. I just want to know what Information should I request the team inorder the configure FTPS so that it can be deployed properly.
I have checked with [SAP Help Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/content.htm] and while configuring the communication channel found that I need Keystore and the X.509 Certificate and Private Key.  which needs to be deployed on the J2EE server by using the Visual Administrator.
Is there anything else, I need to configure.
Any help would be appreciated in this regard.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Varun.K

The basic things are Certificate/Keys which you already know. Usually it is enough for running a sceanrio.
However, if you have additional requirements, like FTPS for "Connection Security" for encryption, then you may need additional details like commands. Rest all settings are same as FTP.
