Shared asset copying

We are having problems when copying a shared asset (a very
small image) from one part of a page to another. This is not a
problem when logged on as administrator, just for other users. An
error message is generated saying that the image exceeds maximum
size, but the max size is set to 100KB and the image in question is
7KB. The user does not just have text editing permission - they are
allowed to add images. There is no problem the first time the image
is inserted from shared assets - the issue only arises when you try
to copy & paste.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Perhap you code is executing before the shared library assets are loaded. You need to debug and find out if the shared library asset(s) is loaded ahead.
Thanks.

  • Runtime Shared Assets and dynamic folder structures

I am using a CMS to load dynamic pages. Most of these pages
have Flash content. The content SWFs all reference a SWF that holds
shared library assets. The CMS undergoes periodic overhauls and the
content gets shuffled. This results in broken links to my shared
    assets.
Does anyone know how to set the shared library URL at
    runtime? Is this even possible?

  • Will Authortime shared assets be cached when using Incremental Compilation?

I'm learning about some new CS5.5 features (also found in CS6).
I have some projects with extremely large filesizes because of embedded videos (its not an option to break these out externally - long story). Some compiled SWFs can reach 120MB+
CS5.5 adds a feature where you can share an asset between two FLAs. My thought is to put each embedded videos in their own separate FLA files to speed up saving and editing.
Secondly, CS5.5 adds a feature called "Incremental Compilation" - you can set a cache size in the "Publish Cache" Preference setting. I haven't tried this yet, but I would think it would greatly improve rendering time when testing this movie. I have a machine with 16GB of RAM.
My question is if I use the Shared Asset feature, will it still be cached by incremental compilation?

    Maybe something interesting...
    When looking at article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982697/en-us
I saw that Outlook 2013 by default caches everything and that's what I wanted. I tested however adding this regkey to see what happened and after that the email shows up in the mailboxes... Somehow the mail from shared mailboxes doesn't want to be
    cached...
Does anyone know what this could be? I want everything to be cached, also the shared mailboxes but somehow this doesn't work and it does when using Outlook 2010....

  • Managing shared assets? (Re-inventing the wheel)

My company has been using Eloqua for quite some time. When I joined, I found a long list of shared assets -- some dating back to the Eisenhower administration.
During my Eloqua University training, I've been encouraged to "share" assets with my team whenever possible. However, I'm not entirely clear on how to best take advantage of useful assets that a long-departed co-worker may have created.
For example, let's say that I created a shared filter that gives me a list of all people in the US who would gladly trade a cow for a sack of Magic Beans.
I save it as a shared filter (and maybe or maybe not include the optional description)
Now, assume that a co-worker in another department (perhaps in another country, who probably doesn't know me) needs to find a list of customers who are interested in Magic Beans.
Other than wading through the hundreds of shared filters that have accumulated in the system over the years, is there a "Smart" way of finding that filter (and, by extension, any useful shared asset?)
I am eager to share my new assets -- but even more eager to leverage what the more-experienced Eloquans have shared.
    Thanks!!

I'm an Eloqua newbie -- in my "Fundamentals" classes, the instructors advised me that the "Descriptions" fields were ignored by the Eloqua search bots (which seemed really strange).  The question arose from my instructors urging us to "share, share, share" our assets -- but not really providing any assistance to co-workers who might benefit from those shares. (Unless you know what your co-worker wants and you tell them about it, they probably won't find your shared work.)
I stumbled across the EloquaBulkAPI document, though. When I get a bit more comfortable with the Eloqua GUI, I'll have to dig-in and play with it.
(Are there other Eloqua APIs available?)

  • Apache: sharing assets between virtual hosts best practise

    Hello,
We've got a few virtual hosts on our server that share certain assets. I'm looking for a the best way to accomplish this. If it were just me I would use Alias directives, but I would like it to be as transparent as possible for our web designer. Years ago we use to do this with WebStar by sharing one document root. But there's no excuse for that these days.
Here are some of the ideas I'm considering:
    1. Put hard links to each shared directory in the document root of each virtual host and not bother with Alias directives.
    2. Same as above but include corresponding aliases in the server's config.
    3. Same as 1 and 2, but use symbolic links instead of hard links. Not sure about this option since the ftp client will know they are links. But maybe that doesn't matter(?).
    Thanks for any thoughts.

I don't understand what kind of "transparency" your designer requires. It shouldn't make any difference where the files live so long as they're accessible.
The designer will likely not understand that shared assets will not actually be stored in the document root, but in another directory all together. Then I say, "Well don't worry. Just pretend they're in your document root. The server will find them because of the Alias directives I've added to Apache's configuration."
I'm trying to avoid this conversation. I work with artists and programmers. Part of my job requires finding common ground between peoples' various technical skill sets.
I'll try symlinks and Aliases. After reading the ln man page again I see: "Hard links may not normally refer to directories and may not span file systems."

  • Shared assets for blog editing?

Is there a way to enable or configure shared assets for
    editing blog entries? Since
    Contribute
is such a kick-*** blogging tool, I am sure there must be a
    way.
    I
    use
Shared Assets for inserting images with captions into web
    pages. It is similar to
    this
technique explained by Jason Santa Maria . I need to provide
the same experience to the user for inserting images with captions
when editing a blog entry as I do when they are editing a web page.
Since I can't administer a blog connection, but only
configure its connection, I don't know how I can
    use Shared Assets.
There are quite a few other editing settings I would like to tweak.
I know I can do some
    tweaking
by editing BlogHub.csi, but I don't know how to configure the
    Shared Assets settings.
    Thanks is advance,

    Hi There,
I use iMovie most of the time for around an hour project and went back and forth with iSlick FX, iTunes, garage band and iDVD, and I find my MAcBook serve me well (2.0 Ghz, 2 GB), and use external LCD for wider view editing area.
The chipset is actually allowed to use up to 224 mb of shared memory (with based 80 mb on os X) and the bigger matched memory you install, the more flexibility for that graphic chipset to allocate shared memory.
The only time my project getting choppy is when I select show waveform for entire clip in my project area. That is when the chipset is lack power to play it real time.
But if you are serious about getting editing and planning to upgrade to Final cut (express or pro) later, MacBook Pro is a better investment and bigger screen too.
    Good Luck

  • Personal file sharing: file copying broken from/to imported account?

I have an iMac G5 with two user accounts A and B ; and a MacBook Pro with two user accounts A' (imported from A with the migration assistant) and C.
Personal file sharing, FTP and SMB are enabled on both machines. The firewall is disabled. Permissions, as well as the Keychain have been repaired.
When I am logged as A' on the MBP, and when I connect to the iMac with the username/password of A, I can't copy files from A' to A : I get the following error message [The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items]. However, a 0-byte file is created on A'. The same problem occurs from A to A'.
This problem drives me crazy because :
    - I can read and delete any file in A' from A (and vice-versa). Only copy and modification doesn't work.
    - I can copy files from A to C, A' to B, C to A, B to A'.
    - FTP sharing between A and A' does work.
Someone got the problem solved by re-creating his account and re-importing all his data, but I absolutely want to avoid that. I'm sure there can be a simpler solution...
It appeared to me that the only reason why AFP copy doesn't work between A and A' is that A' was imported from A. It seems also that a common broken preference/setting is not the source of the problem, since sharing works from/to any other account (and well, re-creating the account couldn't solve the problem as it would re-set the broken settings).
I would like to know which information is used to determine user privileges when copying from one machine to another...
A strange thing I noticed is that both A and A' have the same generateduid (which is thus not "unique") - could it be the source of the problem?
If you have two machines with one account imported from one machine to another, can you check whether Personal file sharing with this account works? I love understanding why stuff doesn't work.
    Thanks!

Here are the results of a few more experiments... Something is definitely broken with those two user accounts, but I'd like to know why, and how it got broken
I have replaced the names of the accounts/machines by more meaningful identifiers.
From the MBP, trying to access Account_B on the iMac:
    MBP:~ account_A'$ mkdir test
    MBP:~ account_A'$ mount -t afp afp://accountB:*****@iMac/accountB test
mount_afp: the mount flags are 0000 the altflags are 0020
    MBP:~ account_A'$ ls -l test

    drwx------ 14 account_A' account_A' 432 Sep 24 23:47 Documents
(And I can copy whatever I want in test)
    Now trying to access Account_A:
    MBP:~ account_A'$ mkdir test
    MBP:~ account_A'$ mount -t afp afp://accountA:*****@iMac/accountA test
mount_afp: the mount flags are 0000 the altflags are 0020
    MBP:~ account_A'$ ls -l test
    total 0
    drwxr-xr-x 23 501 501 738 Aug 26 00:03 Code
    drwx------ 13 501 501 398 Nov 8 13:10 Desktop
(I can't copy to test here)
501 is the uid of account_A (on the iMac). (The uid of account_A' is 503).
    Same stuff through SMB:
    MBP:~ account_A'$ mkdir test
    MBP:~ account_A'$ mount -t smbfs //accountA@iMac/accountA test
    Password:
    MBP:~ account_A'$ ls -l test
    total 0
    drwxr-xr-x 1 account_A' account_A' 16384 Aug 26 01:03 Code
    drwxr-xr-x 1 account_A' account_A' 16384 Nov 8 13:10 Desktop
    (In this case, it works)

  • Home sharing problem - "copy of the file could not be found"

Hi all - I just tried to load about 2700 songs via home sharing from my old laptop to my current one.  At the end of the import, it showed that about 1200 songs did not import because "a copy of the file could not be found", something like that.  To give some context, I quickly scrolled through the songs that would not import, and all the ones I saw were songs I grabbed off of file sharing networks when i was in college years ago.  Thanks for any support - Dan
PS Both are windows OS, the new computer using windows 7 and the old one maybe xp or something.

Normally the cause of this is misplaced or missing files. The iTunes library displayed in iTunes is based on information stored in its library file. One piece of this information is where the actual music file for each song is stored on your system. If the actual music file (*.mp3, *.mp4, etc.) has been moved or deleted manually then iTunes can't find the actual file that contains the music. In iTunes select Get info for these files and see where iTunes thinks they are stored. If the files aren't in that location then that's your problem. If the files have been moved then consolidating your iTunes library may be a good solution. You should read iTunes help on that operation. If the files have been deleted then they are gone and you can delete the song from iTunes. That won't get your music back but it will tidy up your iTunes library.

  • Deleting Shared Assets

    Hi,
I have an asset type which is shared between two sites. So whenever a contributor creates a new asset of that type,it will be automatically shared between the sites. But I do not have an option to unshare or delete that asset as it is been shared.
The contributor interface do not have an option to share an asset. Is there any costumisations to have that option?
I am usning Oracle Webcenter Sites 11g version.

Unshare: Go to the source site, open the asset from contributor interface. Go to menu Content -> Share; System opens a pop up, which shows all the sites to which the asset is shared to (on the right side). Select and move the sites that you do not want to share the content. Save your changes. This is how you can unshare an asset.
Share from Contributor interface: Use the same feature (Content -> Share) to share the asset to desired sites. This is a context sensitive menu and hence may not be enabled if you do not have the right asset open.

  • Is there a way to store and access shared assets between HTML overlays in a Folio?

I'm using numerous HTML graphics throughout a folio, each one requiring common script and font files. Rather than store these assets in each graphic set within a folio's HTML overlay, is it possible to store them in a root folder in the folio that is then accessible to any HTML overlays used throughout it? And if it possible, how would I access them?
This would save a great deal on overall folio size. Though I suspect it's not possible, I'd find it a useful feature if it were somehow possible to implement it in the future.
    Thanks,

  • Firefox-session: Multiple Firefox profiles, shared with copy on write

This is really just a simple hack, but read on if you are curious.
Firefox allows the use of multiple profiles with different processes. This is useful to separate concerns or work contexts. For example one might have a profile for web surfing, and another for doing work related task and yet another for private projects, etc.
However, setting up a new profile can be tedious, especially if one likes to use multiple extensions and customizations. A solution would be to set up a basic profile and copy it for each new profile. This is wasteful though. The approach presented here uses copy-on-write to share the major portion of the profiles and still allow for individual customizations on each new profile.
More info and shell script can be found here: https://github.com/jotrk/firefox-session/

I start one copy in first window with -no-remote and the other three with -no-remote.
However default FF seems to be running when all the others are shut down.
    My detail notes are below
    Multiple versions of Firefox
As I have implemented the multiple desktop feature of Windows see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc817881 and this allows you to run multiple copies of Internet Explorer, but as Firefox is my preferred browser I wanted to be able to use that in any of the four virtual desktop.
Initially I had two profiles for Firefox default user and Default User.
I have changed the name on default user to fourth desktop and created three others first, second and third desktop.
I have set up now five short cuts which are set up with the name of the profile and also in three cases –no-respond
So for the first desktop I have
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "first user"
    for the second
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "second user" -no-remote
and similar for the third and fourth
    The fifth shortcut is
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" –P
and enables me to start any profile.
I can start and make enquiries on four versions of Firefox on the four desktops BUT if there is a link from a document or email an error message comes up saying Firefox is already running.
Another interesting thing is that even when all copies of Firefox are shut down and I try to start the default profile it says that it is already running.

  • Can itunes library file be shared or copied between two macs?

I have two macs that use the same networked hard drive for iTunes file storage. One is acting as a server front-end as it syncs with my AppleTV. The other I use on a daily basis, syncs with my iPhone and roams around the house. Ultimately I'd like to have both computers with iTunes show the same videos, music, ratings, play count, and other material. That way, if I download some music on the Macbook roaming laptop, it will sync with the Server computer and recognize when a file has been changed.
If I use automator to copy the latest itunes library file to both computers, will this doe the trick?
    Any suggestions?

Yes - store the files on the same drive as the tune files - nest them in the same order as if they were on your computer.
I usually rename the Library file to reflect the tunes - ie: I have a HD that has a iTunes library file named 'Really Big Music'. I do this so I don't accidentally delete the wrong library file. When opening iTunes -open with the 'option' key held down and the follow the dialog box and select the library that you want to open.

  • Asset Sharing - Splitting up a big fla for easier teamwork

    Hello,
(This contains:  A question for best practice + feedback and bug-reports for Author-time Sharing)
I'm currently working in a game project with Flash Pro CC. It actually consists of multiple games (a handful) that all use one fla as asset-source. So it has mixed content, all game-specific assets + general assets (e.g. lots of re-used ui components).
We are trying to split up the fla into one general fla and distinct game-specific flas (or "sub flas").
The specific flas shall also contain the assets from general fla, but changes to the general fla shall also affect the lib items in the specific flas. And an auto-update is also needed (for convenience).
So the target is 'importing a whole library' from one fla into another. Is there an "easy way" to do this?
NOTE: the general source-fla with the files to share has a size of 35 Mb and contains about 600 symbols that are to share.
Here are my efforts / experiences so far:
On your help pages are communicated: Runtime Sharing and Author-time Sharing.
I thought that the first one, Runtime Sharing, is no good choice, because it comes with bigger preparation effort (urls) + RSL-symbols have to be AS-linked also, which is not needed for much of our symbols. And then it seems to be focused rather on client's experience (e.g. loading times).
So I tried out Author-time Sharing.
First I noticed that one must manually declare the origin-target-relationship of each single symbol that shall be linked to a source file. (meaning to adjust properties and browse to sourcefile + symbol in its library).
Is it a bug? In CS4 this was done automatically (simply on paste of a symbol of different fla). The whole workflow is so inconvenient that I have the feeling that a large-scale of this feature is not suggested. Or am I missing something?
Anyway, I wrote a jsfl-script that takes care of that (for all wanted symbol items).
It seemed to work well within a small test case (fla with 250 kb, 13 MovieClips, 7 images).
But when I applied it to our project (35 Mb source file, 600 symbols) the script will not come to an end and Flash consumed increasingly more RAM.
The duration of sharing just one symbol seemed to take over 10 seconds already.
But there seemed to be also a bug that caused that some of the "want-to-be"-shared assets were not properly replaced, but instead created anew and were put into a directory "Duplicate items".
After a little trying I found out, that this regularly happens to nested symbols, whereas these were not shared before that 'parent' symbol was shared. At least I guess so.
As I found out there is an undeniable connection with source-file size and complexity of symbol structure.
So, is this feature only recommended for slim source files with a few symbols of low complexity, meaning "no nested symbols"? (This would be a real pity for us.)
    Machine Details.
    Flash's Latest Updates are installed, Windows 8.1, 64 bit, CPU: 2 x 2.2 GHz, 8 Gb RAM
    Best Regards,
    Yves

    Thank you, Mohan.
Sorry for my late reply, I was a busy with other stuff the last days...
    To the topic:
Yes it helped a lot already... I should have read better.
It is a bit less intuiitive than I had expected, but this will work. The problem with the "duplicated items" folder is gone.
However, I still wonder about how changes of the root clip (in origin file) take effect in the sharing files.
I made some tests, and these are my observations, of how lib items are updated:
    folders:
empty folders- not (of course, the are no symbols)
full folders - yes - originals remain as copy (with 0 uses in target-sharer)
    symbols
moving and renaming in origin file is recognized in target file. however, "old" library items (as they were regarding their name and path) are retained, with 0 uses (if they were not used elseweir in the target file), and new lib items are created with the new names / pathes
But IF they are used elsewhere in target file (e.g. as instances lying on stage) their origin will not be updated, and in properties they still point to the original symbol with the names they had before moving / renaming (which is not existent in origin file anymore)
A not so good thing is, that if such symbols had an AS-link, they would exist twice in target file, both retaining their AS-link. So there is potential for conflicts...
This behavior is still a bit inconvenient. One had to remove the deprecated symbols and (before that) swap the already-in-use symbols.
I made 3 example files for you to reproduce what I have encountered.
1 origin file, and 2 target files, which contain some remaining library items, that should have been deleted / swapped.
In case of the 2nd target file, the rootclip lies in folder with different name. (though I have observed no difference in their behavior)
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3161948/ATS_TheOtherRootClipExample.zip
And again the question: Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a way one can avoid this?
(Changes to the source file, like renaming and moving, will be definitively needed!)
    Thanks,
    Yves

  • How do I ask home sharing to not copy duplicate files?

I don't know if there's a good solution for this but here is what's happened to me.
I got my new iMac a couple of months ago and I dragged my entire iTunes folder on to my new machine. This unfortunately gave me two copies of almost everything somehow so I selected show duplicates and I deleted them. This deleted not only the doubles but also all the songs with the same name even if they were in different albums. For example, a song on a full length album and a the same song on an EP were both deleted.
So this is what I want. I want to use home sharing to copy the missing songs from my old computer to my new one without bringing over copies of things that are already on the new computer, like when you being to import duplicates into iPhoto and it asks you if you want to import the duplicates or not?
Is there any way to get iTunes/Homesharing to do this?

The short answer: because Home Sharing isn't designed for sharing apps, and apps aren't designed to be shared.
The longer answer:  Think of it like this...
You download some music in iTunes.  With Home Sharing, another user can listen to it by streaming it over the network.  But the data itself is on your computer.  If you turn off the computer or take it off the network, the other user can't access it.
But if you send another user the app, they aren't just streaming the data- they installed it on their iOS device.  Because they weren't the one that purchased it, such a transfer could easily be considered "piracy" or "stealing," and nobody likes that (least of all, Apple).
When iTunes sees this app, it obviously recognized it, as if saying, "Hey, how did you get this app on your device, if I have no record of you purchasing/downloading it from the iTunes store?"
