so i droped my mom's ipad on accedent while walking inside helping carry bags inside... and at fist no one really thought anything of it but we got inside and my stepdad went to check something on it and was like um... something wrong and i guess the fall put it into shock or something but we held down the 2 buttons and it light up but it was black and just with the back light on. And it still wont work so im not sure what to do... I know where the slide to turn it on is so i did that and it made the click noise to signal it was on and i pushed where an app would be and it went to it and made the music to the app... so it works but for some reason the screen is being all stupid... I really need to know if there is a way to fix the screen because if theres not im in a ton of trouble... please help!!!!

I doubt there is you dropped it and broken the screen
try holding the top button and the round button at bottom of screen
hold both until maybe an Apple logo appears if nothing after 20 secs
the iPad is toast
It can be exchanged at an apple store for around $249 to $219 depending on model
Apple do not do repairs
I would own up now before it gets more complicated

Thanks for the reply, good try, I thought of that myself and made sure of that this morning, but that is already all done, and as it happens, the contacts are exactly the same as in our other phone (3GS) which works perfectly, but the iphone 4 won't dial ANY local number, instead it tries to send an email. EVERY TIME. most frustrating. I am really trying to work out if there is a setting somewhere (like the area code etc) or if this is a warranty issue.

The headphones don't work
If your iPod's headphones don't work or have static or garbled audio, try connecting them to any other 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, like the one on your computer. If the issue with the headphones persists, replace them. For an iPod under warranty, you can order a replacement online. Otherwise, check out the cool headphones at the Apple Online Store. If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes 7 or later.

Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present
Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

Try this:
Make Sure iOS is updated to the latest version
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings

My mom has an OLD imac-that she has boosted with memory-and upgraded to OS 10.3
I have a new intel IMAC...with isight.
I have tried to use the isight camera in imovie-to record the kids and send her little quicktime clips.
She has quick time 7-no matter what she does-she gets only audio, not video and it says that she is missing something that quicktime needs?
I can't find it, and after reinstalling it several times i have given up. Is it possible for her to ever watch these movies?

H.264 requires QuickTime 7. The error message (missing components) proves to me that she is using an older version of QuickTime.
Not necessarily. If Mom has a G3 iMac, it's not going to be able to play H.264 movies (they require a G4 processor or better) and so may be reporting a missing component because the H.264 component won't run on her G3, not because it's a true "missing" component.

Yes, create a playlist in iTunes of the music you want to go to the iPad and then select that playlist under the Music Tab when you connect your iPad. Or just select already existing playlists.

I have tried that as well. The purchased songs are not in my playlists and they are still there. I manually deleted them on the phone but the sync puts them right back on there.
I only sync playlists and they aren't on there.
