  • How to trigger Solution Manager Change request from an external system

    Hello All,
I have a scenario where in I would like to create and trigger a Change Request in Solution Manager from an external system, for instance, a custom web application. How could this be done? Are there standard interfaces (BAPIs) available in Solution Manager for doing this? If yes, then what are the BAPIs? Or Can a custom RFC be developed to achieve this..? If yes, then what are the underlying / base BAPIs that could be wrapped?
Any pointers will be highly appreciated. Sorry if the question is naive. I'm a novice to the Solution Manager topic.
    Bala

    Hi Bala,
I am facing the same issue. I want to create a change request in background from an external application, like an adobe form for instance. Would you be so kind to tell me, which BAPI you used in your solution?

  • Completing / Closing Solution Manager Change Requests

I have several change requests were a developer created and released two transports, but they only required one to move to production.  The other one is not needed and they do not want to move.  However, this is preventing me from completing / closing the change request.  Solution manager excpects that all released transprots have to be migrated to prodution in order to complete the change.
Is there a way to force the change request to complete?  Is there a switch or something I can update that makes the CR think that all transports have been migrated to production?

    Hi CeeJay1A,
We had a similar issue and found we couldn't set change document status to "Production" (and subsequently Confirmed/Completed) without importing all Transports to production, which makes sense when you think about it, as it's true not all transports are in Production.  In the end because we never wanted this transport to go to Production we withdrew the change document via report CRM_SOCM_SERVICE_REPORT unconditional withdrawal option and removed transport from import queue of Production.
Although I would never recommend not importing all transports (ensuring a consistent landscape), I understand there will be rare exceptions when transports should never go to Production.

  • Handling Solution Manager changes with ChaRM (ChaRM on SolMan PRD)

    Hi Experts,
Having deployed ChaRM to satellite system (three system landscape) we became interested in handling Solution Manager changes with ChaRM. We have operable ChaRM in SolMan 4.0 SP12.
We have DEV and PRD for SolMan so we are talking about two system landscape.
Has anyone of you done this? Does it go the same way as if SolMan was a real satellite system (rfc's=>tms=>ibase=>organization=>project=>MC=>CRs = order of configurations roughly).
I tried searching specific instructions for this deployment but it seems that configuration guides etc focus on satellite system handling. Our need is basically to document and control SolMan changes and with ChaRM we could.
Perhaps there is no magic to this and everything goes just like in satellite, but I would appreciate any experiences others may have had doing this.
    Kind regards,
    Auli

    Hello,
We have implemented this with two systems landscape where in we have in place a Solution Manager Dev system and Solution manager Production system both are SOLMAN 4.0 with SP12. So the path for us to move the changes is from Development Systems to Production system.
We have ChaRM between the Dev and production. We reapplied the satellite system concept. For us the Solution manager Prod is a satellite systems all the changes that we move from Development system to Production systems is tracked with necessary documentation in the ChaRM process.
Yes, I agree with you that this is not any big magic. Working with two SOLMAN implementation, I strongly feel that SAP needs to have well rounded ChaRm processes. We have robust Change Management Process, but when we moved to ChaRM we were limited functionality of the ChaRM processes.
I had approached and did some research on how other companies are implementing the same process. Most of them have almost the same process for tracking SOLMAN changes. I am still look out for improved process to manage SOLMA changes.
    Hope this helps!!! Thanks

  • Solution Manager Change Management: Transport Request Administration

    Hi.
We want to use the CHARM functionality of Solution Manager to improve our transport operations. We have several customers and expend´s a lot of time making tranports to different systems.
I don want to activate CHARM completely. Which activities do i must perform, and which activities do i must leave ?
    Regards
    Alvaro

    Hi Avinash
This is the Business Scenario: Our company is using SAP Solution Manager to perform monitoring and administration activities for over than 30 customers.
Dayly we espend over 85% of the basis team time making transport for all of the customers. We decide to set some internal politics to bundle transports, stablishing several releases of them, at specific hours of the day. So we want to use SOLMAN`S change logistics instead of CHARM Scenario to control and improve this activitiy, releasing time to perform other activities.

  • Solution Manager Change Management Master Guide

    Hi
We are looking into implementing Solution Manager 7.0 and have the
    following questions:
    - Can we implement change managment in Solution Manager with only one
satellite system (i.e. Development) as the other systems are not ready
    yet (i.e. Test, QA etc.)?
    - Could you let us know where we can find the master or technical guide
to setup change management in Solution Manager 7.0.

    Hi,
it is possible to implement ChaRM even not all satellite systems are available yet.
I am not sure how much functionality you will get using virtual systems but you may configure and test ChaRM using 3 different clients in your DEV system (need to adjust TMS config accordingly).
Some useful information regarding ChaRM configuration can be found [here|/people/dolores.correa/blog/2008/07/26/first-steps-to-work-with-change-request-management-scenario]
Since ChaRM relies on Service Desk you should also have a look at appropriate Blogs.
Also you should follow the IMG documentation/steps in SPRO.

  • Multiple Ibase/components with one change request / interfacing Lotus Notes

<b>Scenario:</b> Our users post all their software change requests (not only for SAP) into an application based on <b>Lotus Notes</b>. Professionals of the IT department evaluate the requests and make a offer for each of the change requests. The users may (or may not) accept the offer and place an order - all this in Lotus Notes, and not only for SAP.
If that order is confirmed and points to the SAP environment, <b>Lotus Notes automatically must involve Solution Manager</b> by calling a rfc-enabled function module in the Solution Manager system. This function module has to create a Solution Manager Change Request (simulating CRMD_ORDER transaction) together with its maintenance cycle, task list and transport request.
<b>Problem:</b> One of the problems is, that Lotus Notes change requests for SAP environment often require <b>changes to multiple logical components</b>, like R/3 plus BW plus CRM.
<b>Question:</b> The question is, how to create a Solution Manager Change Request for multiple components? This is caused by the restriction of the input screen of CRMD_ORDER which allows <b>only one Ibase/component assignment</b>.
Do you already have worked on this or any idea that might help? I would appreciate very much if you would share your expertise. Thank you.

    Hi Heiner,
The work around that I use is in my maintenance project I have added all the logical components that I will have to work with.(R/3, ECC 6.0, BW etc..) This way, when I created the Maintenance cycle, my task list had all of these systems/clients in it.
The only hick is that in the CRMD_ORDER transaction, you only can put one ibase component.
The above mentioned solution works if you combine all your systems into one maintenance cycle.
let me know if this sheds any light for you.

  • What are the standard datasource that are available in Solution manager?

    Hi All,
Can you please tel me which datasource will contain data about SLA and incident management.  The users are raising issues in SOLAR_*** Tcode and I dont know where it is getting updated.
    Please reply me asap.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
According to SAP Library Document for Solution Manager, Change Request Management offers you the following benefits:
    ·        Increased maintenance and project efficiency
    ·        Minimized costs for project management and IT
    ·        Reduced risk of correction and project failure
    ·        Shorter correction, implementation, and going-live phase
    ·        Efficient maintenance of customer developments and implementations
Personally, I find the greatest benefit to be centralized management of change requests  for connected SAP Systems from start to finish - you can create transports, move transports, test transports, and confirm test results all centrally. This versus management of each individual system landscape separately.
    This is my 2 cents.
    Regards,
    Robert

  • Difference between Solution Manager and SAP CTS

    Hi,
I am having trouble understanding what is the difference between the two. Which tool is recommanded to use?
    Thx in advance,
    regards
Edited by: Bob Thiouwz on Apr 3, 2008 12:47 PM

    Hi,
search on SDN u will get more helpful answers.
Solution manager is a tool which is used for maintaing a project related documents.
    refer the below link:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/ce89c290-0201-0010-5985-dd64605111fd

    /people/community.user/blog/2006/12/07/organize-and-perform-testing-using-solution-manager
CTS is the change and transport system used to transport Xi objects.
refer the bleow link for more detail:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/80bbbd55-5004-2a10-f181-8bb096923cb6
The XI use case for CTS+ introduces a new transport handling mechanism that offers tighter integration for the transport of ABAP, Java, and Integration Builder objects (Integration Repository and Integration Directory) using the Change and Transport System (BC-CTS) functionality.
As your XI system requires both the ABAP and the Java stack of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server, the following transport tools are available after installation:
    The ABAP transport environment (BC-CTS)
The file export and import mechanisms or CMS integration to transport Repository or Directory objects in your transport landscape
In addition, you might also have to transport Java development objects by using the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure itself.
The enhancements to CTS in combination with the SAP Solution Manager Change Request Management (ChaRM) address the following issues:
Synchronized transports for mixed systems (ABAP & Java)
A unified application for mixed system landscapes
Tracking of non-ABAP transports including Change Request Management
For your XI landscapes there will be one central transport environment with CTS+ where you can manage all XI-relevant transport objects from a single entry point.

  • Change Request Type Creation in Solution Manager

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a CR type for a particular end market (My Project Specific). I have an implementation guide for the same (Steps).
My query over here is that what will be expected out put of each step and what would be the dependancies of each step. Like if we perform one step what is the dependency of that step
    on the next step.
This is because before I start the procedure I would like to know the expected output of each
step performed. So that I can procced accordingly without much errors and confusion. I would
like to know where I might be facing any authorization issues.
I am providing  the steps which are provided to me to create a CR type. So kindly help me out
    for the same.

    g) Assign the above into the new Transaction Type.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Best Regards,
    Banu

Only last step has the dependancies with the previous ones, as you need assign the created status profiles, action profiles and so on to the transaction profile. All the other steps are independant.
There's a little reminder, from my project experience, when you copy the action profile to a new one, you need to check the parameter assigned to the method in processing type one by one if it's filled as the original ones. And furthermore, you need maintain the conditions of the actions manually. It's not copied.

  • How to deactivate Change Request Management workflows task

We are in a situation where we are switching external SAP service
organisation and we cannot at this stage introduce any new procedures
regarding sceduling-tasklists/TMS/etc. Our ChaRM implementation project
must be set back in to a possision where we can maintain our normal
system maintainance processes without using a fully implementated
CharRM functionallity. The implementation of CharRM has to be realized
    in 2 steps:
    a) activate only ChaRM documentation system/flow as an extention of
servicedesk, implement this in our organisation
    b) activate fully ChaRM functionality with interaction with
SLD/TMS/tasklists/etc after we have switched service organisation
    Needs:
    1) How to deactivate ChaRM IMG setting SAP Solution Manager-
    >Configuration->Scenario-Spesific Settings->Change Management->Change
    Request Management->Standard Configuration->General Activities-
    >Activate Integration with Change Request Management and related
    settings.
We had in an earlier stage the total service process/documentationflow
up and running and with possibilities to interact/respond on
servicemessages for these roles: User, Servicedesk, Change Manager,
Change Advisory board, Developer, Tester, IT Operator equal to ChaRM
    process.
    2) Ensure availability to use ChaRM as a extention to servicedesk
regarding administration and documentation of SAP changements.
