SOM cartridge in O2A

Hi,
This is regarding CommunicationsProvisioningOrderFulfilmentPIP in O2A.
1. In this cartridge, there is a function called GetCommunicationsServiceConfigurationDetails. This function is targeted to local instances of OSM. I cannot understand the exact use of this function. Already there is a provision function which is targeted to local OSM instances. Can anyone please explain the exact use of this function? Also, name suggests that it is for getting service config details? Is it that it is for getting details from some inventory system like UIM?
2. Also, what exactly are the advantages of having this cartridge and orchestration at SOM level. Few things mentioned are: XML transformation and communication back to COM. Is there any other advantage that I am missing?

Hi!
Cartridges in Endeca are prebuilt and modular components that pull in content and data (Videos, reviews, Analytics,...) from the Endeca engine and external system. Cartridges do expose Endeca features (guided navigation, search, spotlights).
In the Endeca package (application and SDK) you will find at the moment 22 cartridges OOTB.
A technical team can create custom cartridges if needed.
In the Experience Manager you can use cartridges to configure pages.

My year sold MX922 is about a year old and no trouble until today. I needed to change some cartridges, which I did. They are are full but when I print the paper goes thru and sounds like it is printing but comes out blank. I cleaned the heads and printed a test. The 8 color bars and grid at top came out perfectly. Why can't I all of a sudden not be able to print anything from my computer? I have a Mac 10.7.5.

To resolve this issue, it is recommended that the PIXMA MX922 is reinstalled. Please follow the steps below to uninstall the printer driver:
1. Double-click the Mac HD.
2. Double-click the Library folder. The default behavior of Lion is to hide your user Library folder. To get to it Option-click the Go Menu in the Finder and choose Library.
3. Double-click the Printers folder.
4. Move the Canon folder to Trash. Note: If you have any other Canon printers installed, they will need to be reinstalled as well.
5. Open the hard disk icon again and double-click the Library folder.
6. Double-click the Receipts folder.
7. Move any files related to the PIXMA MX922 to the Trash.
Please use the following steps to download the software for your unit from Canon's web site:
1. Visit Canon's website at: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer
2. Type PIXMA MX922 in the "Enter Your Model Name" box and click GO.
3. On the Support page for your unit, click the 'Drivers & Software' link in the middle of the page.
4. Under Recommended For You, please click on the MX920 series Mini Master Setup.
5. If you agree, please select the checkbox next to "I have read and agree to the terms of the Disclaimer and wish to continue with the download".
6. Click on the Download button.

Won't print because some cartridges are empty

I want to just print in black and white, but because some of my color cartridges are empty it will not allow me to print. If I dont want to use color why does it matter? Please advise. I can't afford a new set of color cartridges...and I don't want to print in color so it shouldn't matter!

Hi, To protect itself from damage, it won't stop if no ink available in any cartridge. I needs all inks during warming up process. Regards.

Demo Documentation for a Simple Cartridge Creation

Thus anyone knows where i could find a Tutorial or a Demo documentation for implementing a Simple Cartridge in OSM 7.0.2?
I'm trying to use all the components supplied from the Design Studio but i'm not understanding how to relate them and how to configure them in the correct way just by reading the documentation supplied in the installation.
All Oracle documentation talks about concepts and the components in a separate matter, but no in a fully detailed How to implement a Cartrigde step by step, using all the components. The only tutorial that i saw was in the Developers Guide and is very, very simple.

O2A Solution, OSM 7.0.3 -Submit Revision Order - Getting a database error

we have created a custom SOM Cartridge for VoIP Orders which is called by O2A LF (CommunicationsProvisioningFulfillmentOrderPIP). We are trying to reproduce the following scenario.
We submit a salesorder that has verbCode SIMULATE_FAIL_VOIP_SERVICEBUNDLE_FAULT. We enhance Control Map in the above mentioned Custom VoIP Cartridge.
Fallout simulates successfully. Then we submit a new salesorder with process Verb Code, a significant data change (e.g. Password, Number, etc..) and Revision Number 2 . Amendment Order is created successfully at COM and SOM and redo Task of CommunicationsProvisioningFulfillmentOrderPIP Cartridge is happening to SOM. here is the code where the error seems to come from

To me this must be an issue with the task data.
The user executing this automator is osmlf.
This user should be the member of the following roles:
LocalFulfillmentRole
LfFalloutRole
Both have the same view assigned for the Provisioning order: CommunicationProvisioningOrderQueryTask.
The user must not be a membe of other roles, this can lead to a different query task being picked by the system for the automator.
In particular, there is the LocalFulfillmentSystemInteractionRole which has a different query task assigned for the order:
LocalFulfillmentSystemInteractionTask
And this one indeed does not include the element messageXmlData. So if by any chance the user osmlf was member of LocalFulfillmentSystemInteractionRole, this could lead precisely to the error you are getting.

Configuring JMS Bridges between COM and SOM

We started working on OSM 7.0.2 and I have a question about the configuration of JMS Bridges between COM and SOM.
When COM and SOM Cartridges are installed in the same OSM instance on non-cluster env., it is mandatory to configure JMS Bridges between COM and SOM?
If it is case, could you please detail the procedure to follow?
In the document called "Application Integration Architecture Order-to-Activate Cartridge Guide Release 7.0.2 E18005-01" it is not obvious to understand. If you have a look in the table 2-1 page 2-15, I don't see all the mandatory field values to create a new destination bridges (for instance, what is the value of destination JNDI name?). Does anyone configure this part in the setting up OSM to the Order-to-Activate Solution?

The COM-SOM bridge is only required when COM and SOM are deployed on separate osm server instances and AIA Emulators are deployed (on both) for development/demo/quick testing purposes.
In QA/SIT/PRODUCTION environments, OSM should be integrated via AIA, this means that all participant applications ( CRM , OSM-COM, OMS-SOM, BRM ) should be using queue bridges (or SAF in 7.0.3)

Photosmart 7520 ink cartridges

Q1) I have a 8 month old Photosmart 7520 with 5 ink cartridge slots. Previously I have only needed to buy the large black 364XL ink cartridge. Last week, as my colour had run out, I bought the 364 4-pack, which to my surprise has a large black, small pink, blue and yellow cartridges - no small black. Can I buy the small black separately?
Q2) I was also surprised that all 5 ran out simultaneously, whilst still showing a small amount on screen. Are they designed to stop after so many copies, regardless of any ink left in any of the cartridges?

The small "black" cartridge is a photo cartridge, you can buy a 364 or 364xl photo cartridge separately.
There is a priming process that uses some ink when a cartridge is replaced to remove air from the printheads. If some cartridges are low on ink (but perhaps not completely depleted) changing a different cartridge may cause enough ink to be used to deplete the low cartridges.
The document here has information on how ink is used in the printer, the Photosmart 7520 is an IIC printer in the terminology of that document.

Removing AIA integration in Order To Activate Catridges

Hi,
I want to use Oracle Order To Activate(O2A) cartridges in following stack.
Seibel --->TIBCO(instead of AIA)--->OSM
According to requirement Provisioning COM cartridge order will be created directly by salesCOM cartridge instead O2A existing implementation in which Provisioning COM order is created via AIA (TIBCO in my case) .
So my question is:
Modifying O2A catridges for this scenario will be a good approach or not ?

From your question I understand/assume the following:
1.     Siebel will send a raw or an order of some other defined format (i.e. SiebelTibcoOrderX )
2.     The SalesOrderEBM will not be created or generated by AIA.
3.     Siebel will transport this order via Tibco.
4.     Not sure if the term “Provisioning COM” as this is little ambiguous; I assume that it means Siebel Sales Order via AIA and not the SOM order?
If the aforementioned understanding and assumptions are correct, following are my assertions:
1.     O2A’s OOTB SalesOrder cartridge will not be able to process SiebelTibcoOrderX.
2.     Modifying core O2A cartridge is not a good idea. (Requires design knowledge, etc.) May have upgrade implications.
3.     Creating a new cartridge to translate from SiebelTibcoOrderX to AIA SalesOrderEBM and then processing as before would probably be the best option.
To summarize, we provide OSM O2A cartridges to seamlessly integrate with Siebel, BRM and PH4C with the help of the integration layer AIA. This is an OOB solution. If you are using Tibco as the middleware, I would suggest you to create your own cartridges, based on your functional requirements.

OSM v7.2 - More that 1 instance in a non clustered environment

I am just wondering...
1) Can i install OSM separately on 2 servers while using the same database instance in a non-clustered manner?
This is for circumstances where I need a dedicated server resource for bulk provisioning for example.
2) If I am not using AIA in my implementation, how does COM calls a SOM cartridge and how does SOM reply COM on the completed status?
Is it via some default provided webservice, or do i need to find a way to implement it myself.

1. Though technically it is feasible to use two OSM instances with same database, it is not suggested as it may lead to locking issues and not sure how you are planning to acheive bulk provisioning by this way
2. The calling of SOM cartridge by COM and status updates of SOM to COM has to be implemented by yourself if you are not using AIA. You can make use of default webservices proivded by OSM

Are there any OSM be-spoke cartrdiges available?

I was reading through SFS documentation for a vendor-analysis - I can see Oracle provides bespoke ASAP Cartridges for various NE's,Tech Packages for UIM.
I was wondering if there is any bespoke cartridges (except for the demo sales one) offered along with the product or licensed separately.
My understanding is that the O2A cartridge is a prebuilt set of integrated orchestration flows, application integration logic, and extensible enterprise business objects and services required to manage the state and performance of a defined set of activities or tasks between specific Oracle applications. This however is service agnostics.
So are there any bespoke OSM cartridges available leveraging domain knowledge and based on working with telcos?

OSM provides only O2A PIP cartridges and is not providing any bespoke cartridges. As most of the network elements used by different telcos are similar, and the way ASAP communicates to these network elements for various operations is same, it is easy to provide cartridges for various NE's. But in OSM, no two companies have same flow in providing a specific service to the customers. So it is difficult to provide such cartridges.
O2A PIP cartridges can be customized as per end user requirements.

Are you planning to create articles in ExpManager OR the content will come from some other system and you just want to manage the pages to display the content in Exp Manager?
On a high level:
If it is case #1 you have to integrate ATG & Endeca and write some cartridges for managing the content.
If it is case #2 you have to integrate ATG & Endeca and modify the auto generated pipeline to pull in your content from the other system.

Photosmart C5150 All-in-One

I have an HP Photosmart C5150 All-in-One printer. Not to long ago I purchased a new set of ink cartridges. Once I put them in it seems as though the printer did not recognize that they were new full cartridges. When I try to print my computer tells me that I need to replace some cartridges however once printing starts and the ink gauge pops up in a window it tells me that all cartridges are full. Now when I check the gauge on the actual printer it is not recognizing my black ink cartridge as well as a few others. I am a student and therefore need to use my printer for quite a few things. How do I get my printer to recognize my cartridges and start printing normally?

Unicode support of OAS

We are involved in the development of a multilingual web application. We are running some cartridges in the OAS. If its an unicode based solution and the cartridge running over the OAS is capable of understanding unicode, is it necessary that OAS should also be an unicode compliant one.. we use oracle 8 which supports unicode.. if OAS is to unicode compliant one then from which version does it supports..

Canon iP4200 printer problem

A couple years ago I needed ink for the 4200 printer and decided (because I was no longer printing pictures) that it would cost no more to buy a new Canon printer. I bought a 3500 Canon inkjet and kept the 4200 as a spare. The 3500 gave up the ghost 2 months ago and I went back to using the 4200. I print most of my paper using grayscale. Two things happened (particularly noticeable when printing the daily crossword) when I went back to the 4200: (1) the grayscale was much lighter in color and (2) there are horizontal bars evident on the crossword puzzle: the alternate bars are solid light gray alternating with s speckled bar in the same gray shade. Strangely the printed definitions for the puzzle are black and then gray in the same alternating horizontal pattern. I have tried the Deep Cleaning in Utility Maintenance a couple times. and I thought I uninstalled (3500) and reinstalled (4200) correctly. Any advice will be appreciated.

The ink cartridge has gone bad. You need to buy a new cartridge. You can look on ebay for a good deal on a cartridge.
In particular, when you do not use a cartridge for a long period of time, the ink dries. Some cartridge holes get clogged. you could try applying rubbing alcohole on the cartridge head. Good luck. I haven't had much succes with unclogging cartridges.
