Hi Venkat,
SAP follows a consumption based accounting and not purchase based accounting.
On purchases, Stock will be debited and liability booked in GR/IR.
whenever there is an issue of stock for production/consumption, consumtion(P/L) will hit the books.
The difference in the way accounting takes place in SAP(Consumption based) as compared to purchase based accountign needs to be explained to your client. All companies running on SAP follow this way of accounting.

  • Diff stock GL account for raw material

    Hi,
We have raw material under 2 different location, one is under raw material warehouse, another one is under staging area which belongs to production. From time to time, we will issue stock from RM warehouse to staging area.
The stock GL account (either debit or credit) for the raw material is RM Stock (140001) when we do any movement.
But we do not want like this. We want that when there is any movement from raw material warehouse location, it will charge to GL account 140001 (RM Stock). And when the movement is from starging area location, it will charge to another GL account (140002 - production stock).
We want to seperate out the GL account for the raw material if they are under different storage location.
    Can this be done?
    Kindly please advise. Thank you.

    Hi Sim
Valuation of Stock is done at Plant level and not Storage Location Level. Within a Plant, you can differentiate the G/L accounts based on the Valuation Class assigned in the Accounting view in Material Master.
The above settings enable automatic account determination at the time of GR. If you want different G/L accounts for different areas, there are 2 options:
    1. Configure and Activate Split Valuation. This will enable you to give different Valuation Classes for different Storage Locations in Matl Master.
    2. The better option is to make the 2 locations as 2 different plants and extend the materials to both these plants.
However, pls mention your purpose of differentiating the G/L accounts. If it is only to view the stocks in the 2 areas, there are many reports like MB52, etc.
    Hope this clarifies.
    Thanks

    JACK

    Dear Jack,
Purchase Order Account Assignment For Service Items:
    http://www.sap-img.com/materials/account-assignment.htm
The concept of account assignment remains same whether for materials with Mat. No. Or only text.
If you are purchasing a particular service for a cost center. then you can assign the PO item to Cost Center & so on.....
    Material Management
    -> Purchasing
    -> Material Master

  • Both Cash based Accounting and Accrual based Accounting for Capital Exp

I have a requirement to generate both Cash based and Accrual based accounting for Capital Expenditure transactions. I am thinking of using Secondary Ledger for Cash Based accounting. I have never used secondary ledger or customization in SLA.
Can someone please let me know the steps to do this, or if this solution is going to work?

    Hi Dewi
    You will get message (warning):

  • Refill safety stock based on a certain leadtime

    Hello,
is there a way to refill / replenish your safety stock based on a certain leadtime ?
as now MRP requests to get in components today or in a week , while they have a leadtime of several weeks.
    for example :
i have put a fixed safety stock of 300 pcs on a component.
This component has a leadtime of 5 weeks
i received an order for 50 pcs to be delivered in 1 week.
So we ship this from our safety stock.
Now MRP is creating demand to get 50 new pieces of this component to be delivered in 1 week ( to fill up again the safety to 300 pcs )
But i would like that MRP asks to order this component on the leadtime of 5 weeks
As it will not be possible to get this component in on 1 week.
    best regards

    Thanks Avinash for your reply,
i also noticed that safety stock gets the highest priority demand and that's probably why i couldn't find a solution using safety stock.
Is there an other way how i should handle this?
Is there a way where a replenishment in oracle is done based on leadtime?
as i mentioned before, i want to get my stock automaticly replenished based on a component/product leadtime when i get under a certain stock level.
I'm currently thinking to change the planning to min-max planning or reorderpoint planning and as soon as my stock comes under the minimum level,  oracle will propose to refill the stock. But also here i don't know if oracle will use the leadtime to create new demand.
i still need to test this.

  • Total Stock in Accounting View for Non valuated material

    Hi,
There is one plant 1050 which is non valuated (only Qty updation ).I maintained accounting view with value 0. I will do 501 movement.
It is showing me in MMBE tcode.
But when I go to check in accounting view it is zero.If it is non valuated whether stock gets updated in Accounting view of material master or not.
This problem we are facing at client location.
    Please help me in understanding.
    Regards
    Raghavendra Pai

    Hi,
It is not a problem, this is standard SAP, since the material is non valuated, you could not see the stock in Accounting view.
Normally for non valuated material, no need to maintain accounting view. Even if you maintain stock will not be reflected in that view.

  • Documentation about Rule-Based Account Assignment Distribution

    Hello dear PSM Experts,
In our project (using ECC6), we want to split in a PO the FM account assignment between several lines, according to the fund type of the initial account assignment (based from an referenced earmarked document).
After looking in the customizing and in ECC6 PSM Public Sector Management
Release Notes, we are investigating Documentation about Rule-Based Account Assignment Distribution.
Can anybody provides me a link to a documentation, if any?
Otherwise, I would greatly appreciate any help to use this functionality.
    Regards,
    François

    Hello,
I am configuring this functionality currently in an ECC 6.0 environment for a public sector organization and have had an issue with the FMSPLITMAINT transaction.  When attempting to create a rule the 'create' 'copy' 'change' options are not available.
Configuration has already been completed for Field Profiles, Action Profiles, & Rule Groups.
The olny documentation I have been able to find was an appendix to the SAP Grants Management - Grantee course.
Please respond if you there is any additional documentation which may be of assistance.  I have already tried notes: 991661 and 991962.
    Thank you

  • Windows based accounting software QUICK BOOKS can run on Mac OS X Lion??????

windows based accounting software QUICK BOOKS can run on Mac OS X Lion??????

Oops! Sorry pmittal. Completely missed that you said "windows" at the beginning of your post. Thomas is absolutely correct. Intuit is like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde with QuickBooks. The Windows Pro version is full of features. You pay the same amount for the Mac Pro version, but it is severely crippled in comparison.
Believe it or not, Intuit actually has a company policy that the Mac version will never be feature compatible with the Windows version. How's that for treating paying customers as less than second rate! Wish I were making that up, but it's true. Read the blog link. In particular:
Forget the fact that Intuit’s Mac products have always paled in comparison to their Windows counterparts by missing 90% of the features that Windows users have long enjoyed. Forget the fact that Intuit has worked overtime to make sure that their Mac & Windows products would never be cross-platform compatible (this is an internal corporate rule at Intuit).
And this, later in the article:
Many years before QuickBooks was resurrected for the Mac in 2006, a smug Intuit employee at Macworld Expo told me, “We don’t need to update QuickBooks, because it’s still the No. 1 best-selling accounting package for Mac. Mac users still purchase it, even without any new updates.” Seems like their attitude hasn’t changed much.
I know most folks consider blogs unreliable, but I first read this same information at a much more reliable site, I just can't seem to locate it again.
Despite all that, I do use QuickBooks for Mac. Why? One, that's what I started with for my small business because "QuickBooks" is what you always hear to use. I had no idea at the time how crippled it was. Good news (for me) there is that it does more than everything I need, seeing as how I don't need much for an in-home business. Two, my accountant is much happier when he comes over to finalize entries that he already basically knows the program instead of having to wade through something completely unfamiliar, such as the greatly superior AccountEdge (There are two Mac accounting programs with this exact same name. One is pretty expensive, the other is fairly cheap). The one linked to in the blog is the less expensive version, with the Basic version going for $99.
I'd consider switching, but the other packages can't import QuickBooks data. Or at least not accurately. I have too many years of data invested in QuickBooks to consider trying to switch now. One of the other Mac accounting packages offer (or used to) a service to translate your data at so much per record. Well, with thousands of records, that would cost hundreds of dollars. Forget it. So I'm kind of stuck, like it or not. The only real way out of it is to run Windows in a VM and import my Mac QuickBooks data into the Windows version. But since the Mac version does do all I need, that would be rather pointless.

  • Cash Based Accounting Method

    Hi Experts
There are two methods of accounting, 1. Cash based Accounting Method and 2. Accrual based Accounting Method.  In Cash based Accounting Method- Expenses are accounted after cash paid and Revenues are accounted after cash received.  SAP is more of Accrual Based accounting system like Providision of Goods/Service received, Sales Invoice accounting etc..
My question is, Is it any specific configuration avilable for Cash based Accounting method? or we have to configure existing system for Cash based Accounting method?
    Any suggestions are welcome.

  • What is CoPA , what is the difference between Cost based, Account based

    Hi
what is Copa, what is the difference between cost based , Account based copa,  where we can use.
can you send me please related document.
    Thank you
    Anil

    Hello
Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) enables you to evaluate market segments, which can be classified according to products, customers, orders or any combination of these, or strategic business units, such as sales organizations or business areas, with respect to your company's profit or contribution margin.
The aim of the system is to provide your sales, marketing, product management and corporate planning departments with information to support internal accounting and decision‑making.
Two forms of Profitability Analysis are supported: costing-based and account-based.
    ·        Costing-based Profitability Analysis is the form of profitability analysis that groups costs and revenues according to value fields and costing-based valuation approaches, both of which you can define yourself. It guarantees you access at all times to a complete, short-term profitability report.
    ·        Account-based Profitability Analysis is a form of profitability analysis organized in accounts and using an account-based valuation approach. The distinguishing characteristic of this form is its use of cost and revenue elements. It provides you with a profitability report that is permanently reconciled with financial accounting.
You can also use both of these types of CO‑PA simultaneously.
